I Have been waiting since August of 2024 to have my car repaired. I have called Honda numerous of times about my car not starting and stalling while driving. I was basically told that they will not order the part and replace until my car is fully not running at all. I was told I would have to pay for a diagnostic and for my vehicle to be towed to get looked before they can decide to order the part for my recall that is suppose to be Free. I am at the point of just taking this situation to Court.

Subject: Urgent Concern Regarding Parts Availability for Fuel Pump Motor Safety Recall (Exp2) – 2018-2020 Honda Accord 2.0T Dear NHTSA, I am reaching out to express my concerns regarding Honda's lack of parts availability for the Fuel Pump Motor Recall on the 2018-2020 Honda Accord 2.0T. This recall addresses a critical safety issue with the fuel pump, which could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly—a significant hazard to drivers and passengers alike. It is troubling to note that while Honda has continued to produce and release new vehicles for 2024 and 2025, they have not been able to provide the necessary parts to repair recalled models already on the road. This discrepancy raises serious questions about the prioritization of safety, as new production vehicles seem to take precedence over the repair needs of existing owners affected by this recall. As a Honda owner, I rely on my vehicle daily, and this delay has caused considerable inconvenience and concerns for my safety. I am seeking guidance on Honda's obligations in this situation and any additional steps that owners can take to expedite these necessary repairs. If there is anything that NHTSA can do to encourage Honda to prioritize the availability of these parts, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have a 2018 1.5 Touring with 94k (bought 5 years ago with 7k miles. Religiously performed all maintenance including oil changes and transmission fluid. I started having this issue on and off about 2k miles ago. This is an intermittent problem. Sometimes the car runs great with no problem...then the next time I start the car there is a rough idle and I get the shuttering/jolting/jerkiness (feels like the engine is misfiring) when the engine revs over 2.5k rpms or so. Out of habit, I typically drive in eco mode as I drive mostly highway miles. I also noticed that this is less of an issue in sport mode. If the jerkiness starts, keeping the car under 2k rpms avoids any additional jerkiness. If I accelerate, I will get one of two results: - The first is limp mode, which I can solve by pulling over, turning the car off, turn the car back on and the check engine light goes away...and the car may or may not be jerky again. - The second is limp mode with a Christmas tree of lights on the dash and warnings in the tachometer display area - which cycles through the following system problems: "Brake System", "Vehicle Stab Assist", "Hill Start Assist", "Adaptive Cruise C System", "Collision Mit Braking System", "Road Departure Mit System", "Emission System", "Electronic PS System ". If I turn the car off and back on, the error lights and messages still appear. I can clean the codes (P0302 cylinder #2 misfire) with my scanner, then the messages and lights go way...and the car may or may n

I have to very very very slowly accelerate so that the car doesn’t stall. When the trying to accelerate it often skips and jerks while driving. I often wonder if this will affect me while driving on the interstate. I fear that a bad accident is on the horizon with these issues. Could you please help. I’ve tried multiple times since last December to get the car fixed and Honda refuses to fix my vehicle even though I received a letter in the mail saying more repair parts are available.

During normal driving - clear weather conditions - the car will suddenly activate the forward collision braking. It will literally slam on the brakes and decrease the speed by 10-15 MPH. This happened as I was going down the drive of our neighborhood, I was at 45 MPH with no one in front of me or behind me (thankfully) and the car applied the brakes and activated the front collision warning. There is also an intermittent issue with my seatbelt. Specifically the drivers seat belt. I was witness to someone driving my car - he buckled his seat belt and it unlatched. He then buckled it again thinking he didn’t do it right - but it wouldn’t latch. This has happened to me before as well - but usually after the third try of buckling the seat belt it will work and so I thought nothing of it. Additionally, the windshield wipers do not go back to their original position after being in use.

No police or insurance representatives have been involved in the inspections. Each time the repair is made “All looks normal” The problem is preceded by a warning light on the dashboard indicating a headlight malfunction. I’ve been trying to get my part replaced since August and I’ve been hundreds of dollars in between that time till now WASTING MONEY! And I’ve been told by 3 different dealerships that because I wasn’t experiencing what they considered major issues that they decided to not see me for the recall based off the information provided. I spoke with someone yesterday that I spoke to weeks ago about the same thing, and was told they didn’t have the part then when I asked to speak to a manager, he put me on hold and told me the part was in. I haven’t been able to drive my car since last Friday. It’s a huge inconvenience, as getting this part replaced would eliminate that issue I had to beg and threaten ppl jobs to get it replaced! But the amount of money I’ve wasted and fallen behind on MY BILLS IS CRAZY!!!!!! Honda should be cutting me check for the money loss as result so I can pay on things I had to wait on.. or create arrangements for along with having to ask my family for help because of the money I’ve been wasting the last two months

At 53,000, I began getting simultaneous errors light up the dashboard. I code reader indicated I had misfires on cylinder 3. Replaced spark plugs even though the originals are rated to near 100,000 miles. Ended up needing to have fuel injectors replaced by the dealer for $1300. Upon further research, this seems to be a common problem for these 1.5T engines caused by either faulty injectors or engine design. I purchase Honda for reliability and do not expect this kind of issue on a vehicle with that low of mileage. Honda should extend the warranty and offer reimbursement to those affected by this issue.

Braking system engaged while driving, slamming on brakes for no reason within first 6 months of having purchased my 2018 Honda Accord EX. While driving the car on a normal highway with no cars in front of me, the car suddenly brakes and then the brake releases. The car came to a complete stop for no reason while driving around 55-60mph on the highway with no cars in front of me or to the sides. I couldn't get the brake pedal up off the floor of the car. After about 5 seconds, the brakes finally released, and I was able to drive again. Took car to Princeton, NJ Honda Service Department and they tried to readjust the front facing camera and the radar system. They said that it was misaligned or had been misaligned due to possible damage from a rock kicking up from road. Car was okay for about a week and then was slammed suddenly to hard brake in middle of road while driving again on highway, around 45mphs. Car was bought back to Honda dealership, and the service department solution to problem was to order a new front camera unit and replace the radar unit. New Camera Parts were on backorder, with over a 2 week wait for parts to deliver to dealership. Princeton Honda provided a loaner vehicle while awaiting parts and then repairs. Was without my new car for over 2 and half weeks. Have had no such issues with braking system since replacement and repair of a front camera and radar unit.

The problem first started on 8-8-24 when I cranked up my car & the dashboard lit up with all of these different sensors. I called Leith Honda dealership in Aberdeen, due to that is where I take my car to be serviced at, my customer service rep (Brian) stated to wait to see if they would stay on, because of that type of car will reset itself. So later on, that day they did, go away after driving it a while. Then a sensor popped up on 8-10-24 & stayed on for just a day, then came back off again. I called again & he stated to wait again so that the car can be diagnosed, but it had cut off again. So, a few days had gone by & in the middle of driving on the highway while going 60 mph, all of the same sensors came back on & the car would not go over 40 mph due to one of the main sensors stating "Emission System Problem. Avoid Heavy Acceleration & High Speed. See Your Dealer." Along with my 21MONTH old baby in the car! DANGEROUS! My job (travel CNA) requires me to travel from facility to facility & I need my car to be reliable. The rep said it really sounds like the recall part that is going bad in my car needs to be replaced & until it stays on sticks; there is nothing that can be done. I beg to defer! Is it going to take for me to get into a car accident & jeopardize my daughter & I safety in order for the part to be replaced, after what the recall notification states that can be done while operating the vehicle. During regular driving, the vehicle engine will stall and lose power, with 9 different warning lights coming on and ALL advanced driver assistance systems becoming disabled, and I believe ABS brakes being disabled as well. This is due to cylinder 3 misfires and the problem is intermittent, but the loss of power can come on randomly and is dangerous on highways as you have to pull over due to the sudden loss of engine power, restart the car, and hope the problem temporarily goes away. The L15BE engine used in 10th gen Accord engines is widely known to have a faulty engine block design leading to EARLY head gasket leaks (see links) which results in misfires and I think it is imperative that Honda issue a recall as thus far, they have been ignoring the pleas of the owners. I am planning on replacing the gasket ($4000 personal mechanic. Honda charges closer to $6000) with aftermarket parts ($400 additional) as replacing them with OEM parts would just allow this to occur again. Please contact me for more details. The youtube video goes into succinct detail of the design issue at hand which is mechanical in nature, however it directly effects driver and transportation safety: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=age8_Mi5sEU&list=PLTM0MsUKWXaQEG8lbsVJ99W1TvHbWiAXR&index=5 There are no shortage of people experiencing this and the problem extends to the entire fleet of vehicles using the L15 engine block including CRVs and Civics. https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/blown-head-gasket-any-r

Car started not wanting to accelerate and all of the dash lights came on, thankfully it was on a rural road and not the freeway. My 20 year old daughter was driving and was so startled by what was happening the she almost went into a ditch getting to the side of the road. Hooked it up to a code machine and it said that it was misfiring so we replaced spark plugs and coils. This happened in July of this year (2024). We took it in for both of the recalls, it was a software update and a fuel pump mount replacement. In between changing plugs and coils and doing the recalls the engine started slightly shaking. The engine shaking was listed as a symptom of the bad fuel pump mount so we thought the fix for the recall would take care of the problem. We got it back after the fuel pump mount recall and it ran great for about 2 weeks. And then the shaking came back. We took it to our local Honda dealership and it turns out that it had blown head gaskets. This is a 2018 Honda Accord that has had all of its oil changes. So it seems to me that something is wrong with some components of the engine. Other than all of the indicator lights coming on the one time we never had and check engine lights come on and the car never overheated or if it did the gages never relayed this information. On July 4th while driving 60 miles on the highway, my car had a sudden loss of power. I had to pull over to the side of the road and have my car towed back home due to feeling unsafe to drive the vehicle. I went to Auto Zone the next day and the code scanner said misfire cylinder 2. SO I went to a nearby mechanic shop and had them replace the spark plugs and cylinder 2. I was unaware they did not use Honda parts. My car drove a little better but still had issues maintaining speed intermittently. So I paid a different mechanic shop to diagnose my vehicle for $130. They recommended replacing sparks plugs a cylinder to Honda parts. Then also recommended replacing my fuel injectors. I waited on my next step since I did not have funds for those repairs. My head gasket went out while I was driving down the road at around 68425 miles. The result was that the car threw a bunch of error codes and went into limp mode while on the highway. I was fortunately able to pull off into a parking lot due to low traffic at that time of day but it was a major road that is full of vehicles during a busy time of day. This was a safety issue because my car effectively lost power and I was stuck coasting on a road where traffic regularly travels between 45-50+ mph. The head gasket failure was confirmed by the local Honda dealer and was replaced under warranty (certified pre-owned).

3 days and 26 miles after picking up my car following the repair for the issue reported in NHTSA issue #11614854, my car again displayed a bunch of various errors on the dashboard and threw P0300, P0301, and P0304 codes via OBDII. I dropped off the car at the dealership and they report that the issue this time is bad fuel injectors. This car has now had 2 major premature powertrain failures before reaching 70k miles that can result in loss of power while operating the vehicle. Losing power on the highway is a serious safety issue so I wanted to report this to the NHTSA for your records.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
