FAILURE TO DISPLAY THE REARVIEW IMAGE. There is a recall for 2018 model Honda Accords. NHTSA Recall 18V-629 This specific complaint is for 2013-2017 models as well. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111 - Rear visibility. Due to a software error, the center display assembly that normally displays the rearview image may not provide the rearview image when the vehicle is reversing. Failure to display the rearview image may reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Based on my research the same software bug is affecting the earlier models as well. Apple Car Play freezes up on the 2017 Honda Accord while the navigation is in play, distracting the driver while on the freeway. The driver does not know when this freeze happens until they miss their exit, causing a big distraction. These cars are being sold as compatible with the Apple phones, but this is not true. American Honda is aware of the problem. Nothing is being done.
I was pulling my car forward into a parking spot in my apartment complex with my foot on the brake. I was about three quarters of the way into the spot when I suddenly felt the car lurch forward at what felt like a high rate of speed. The car lurched forward over the sidewalk and was stopped by two parked cars and a light pole. My car was moving slowly as I pulled in the spot before the sudden acceleration.
The rear doors will not lock/unlock when using the keyless remote. I have replaced the rear doors actuators in June 2022 because the rear doors would not lock/unlock unless I manually locked/unlocked the doors which is a pain. Now not even two months later I am having the same issue with the front passenger door. This is not a cheap repair and there is too many complaints about this very issue not just occurring with the Accord.
Rear back up camera stopped working @ around 40k miles. It is now always black when the car is in reverse.
My car hesitates when I accelerate I understand there’s a recall for the V6 engine issues with the fuel pump my car is in that category why is there no recall for it. It is doing just what the other cars did that got the recall.
Car shuts off while driving. Very dangerous could cause a wreck. Will not start back up for about 20 minutes.
When Driving the car it will occasionally Brake when another car is passing in the opposite direction My local Honda Service technician can find no problems. When we deactivate t he CMBS(Collision Mitigation Braking System) the problem goes away.

On Thursday July 14, while driving on HWY 278, the car had a sudden failure and starting decelerating. It almost got me and my daughter who was riding with me at the time killed. Only the grace of God protected us!!! I managed to get the car to the Honda dealer (DCH Academy Honda #708, Old Bridge, NJ). They informed me that the fuel pump failed and needed to change. The problem appeared all of a sudden and there was no warning at all. The car is being maintained regularly. This seems to be a manufacturing problem in the fuel pump for Honda Accord 2017 and it needs to be addressed. Again this almost got me killed!!!!!!
Driving and my Honda Accord lost all power. Dashboard red lights came on- battery and engine lights. Within in seconds it just stopped. Took it to Twin City Honda in Port Arthur, texas. They said I needed a new engine- and I got one.5 days later it would not start again in the driveway, Twin City Honda said it was my starter- had that replaced.
Backup camera is not working properly. Camera is foggy and not producing a clear picture. Yes this problem has been confirmed by a Honda dealer. The rear camera had to be replaced and was replaced by the dealer. The cost to repair was 580.000 and not covered under any warranty's.
The rear camera system/speaker periodically gives a screeching static sound which was so unbearable until Team Honda (Lafayette, LA) had to disconnect the entire system. I researched this issue and conclude it must be a factory defect because 1) due to the low mileage and infrequent usage of this vehicle 2) the commonalities among other 2017 Honda Accord Drivers with the same issues who are from different regions, and because the speaker works when I plug in my iphone. Team Honda wants me to pay $1200 to install a new one because the original factory system is out of warranty. Should the manufacturer be liable for any parts of this system ? Should I have to pay the cost for a defective vehicle and jeopardize my safety and be left without a radio for safety information, camera, and a GPS? This is not my first Honda and had no issues with the previous one which is another reason why I know this is not human error. Can you please investigate this and share with me your findings. I paid $99 for them to disconnect my audio visual system on my car and received no explanation about the error. Thanks.
The car is stalling on the highway out of nowhere. Car won’t start back up for about 20 minutes. Car completely shuts off during traffic. Almost caused a big wreck with an 18 wheeler because I was unable to move the car out the middle lane because it shut off. Causing false codes to pop up. Very dangerous situation with my three small children in the car.
Had a strong smell of gasoline coming from engine compartment. Took to dealership, they reported I had a ruptured fuel line. Took 1 1/2 months to get new fuel line. Honda would not take responsibility for poorly manufactured part. Got car repaired, cost $500 and on my way. My question is, will the new fuel line have the same problem? Very dangerous to catch fire. A lot disappointed in Honda for the treatment I got. The car only had 24,000 miles on it. Thank you!
SAFETY CONCERN--BACKUP CAMERA FAILED
While arriving home today, I left my car running as I carried in groceries. When I came back to get some groceries I started smelling plastic burning. I then see smoke coming out from under my hood. I turn off my vehicle I pop open my hood and I Discover that the fan on the driver side is melted into my radiator. There are two fans in the front of the Honda accord. The fan on the passenger side is Fine however, the Driver side fan is completely melted. This was clearly a fire hazard where this car could’ve been on fire. I was fortunate enough to be home and not having my child in my vehicle. I called Honda to see if it was covered under warranty and they stated no. I did ask that this be reported if anyone else had this issue just for the fact it’s a safety issue
The backup camera on this vehicle stopped working during the summer of 2021 with fewer than 15,000 miles on the vehicle. The failure of the camera was noted on an invoice for an oil change dated July 1, 2021, which I have retained should you want it. At the time, I learned that about 600,000 Hondas from the next two model years had been recalled because of a defect with the backup camera. Attempts to obtain informal accommodation from Honda proved useless, and I ultimately decided to have the camera replaced at a cost of over $550. The service tech verified that the original camera was not working before having it replaced. The invoice is attached and I have retained the original camera should you wish to inspect it.

My 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid was having an issue where several warning lights would light up on the dashboard, so I took it in to Auburn Honda, located at 1801 Grass Valley Hwy, Auburn, CA 95603, to get the car serviced under warranty. They made the necessary repair, which was the replacement of a battery component and I picked up the car on 2/2/21. After about 45 minutes of driving the car with no stops immediately after picking up the car, the warning lights returned and the car suddenly shut off. When I tried to restart the car, smoke billowed from the rear. Shortly thereafter, the entire car was engulfed in flames. This incident occurred more than a year ago and ever since I have been trying to get the proper individual or individuals to accept responsibility for this incredibly dangerous and costly incident, for which we have still received NO compensation. My insurance provider, Atlantic Casualty, and Auburn Honda's insurance provider, Federated Insurance, both sent out fire inspectors of their own accord and they concluded that the battery malfunctioning caused the fire. At this time, the car was at Auburn Honda and the inspection was conducted there. My most recent step and what has led me to file this complaint is that I made a claim months ago with American Honda Motor Corporation on the advice of Auburn Honda to find a resolution to this incident. They have been uncooperative and refuse to accept that the fire was caused by the battery. After the car was moved to a

WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN STEERING BECAME STIFF ,HIT CURB SENT FOR BODY AND MECHANICAL REPAIR AND NOW WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED , OR AT IDLE FOR A FEW MINS ,PROBLEM GETS WORSE ON WARM TO HOT DAYS (much worse),,eps light comes on but also will have steering return then lose quickly on and off ,making it much more dangerous as I cannot commit to how hard to pull wheel ,shot across two lanes last time it happened .FIRST WARM DAY YESTERDAY WITHIN 20 MIN 0F LOCAL DRIVING THE CAR EPS WENT WILD WITH INTERMITTENT RAPID FIRE FAILS .DEALER SAID ITS OK THEN SAID RACK IS SMASHED THEN SAID ITS LOOSE WIRES ON TWO SOFT SET TERMINALS .CANNOT BELIVE THEM AFTER THREE DIAGNOSTIC CHANGES ON SAME ISSUE AS NOTHING IS SMASHED .THEY WAMT 5K TO REPLACE ENTIRE RACK , NOW ,ALL THIS UNDER 30K MILES !
UNKNOWN My brother had a car accident and was deceased in it. Very disappointed in Honda's safety/crash ratings.
Twice in the past month the steering has frozen on my 2017 Honda Accord hybrid, making it nearly impossible to turn the wheel manually. Fortunately on both occasions we were driving at low speeds on city streets and could pull over or drive slowly to a destination. There were no warnings that the steering was about to freeze, but both times the automatic lane departure light came on. In the second instance I was driving on a narrow street and I was not outside of my narrow lane or I would have hit the curb or oncoming cars. The car was checked once by a highly regarded mechanic who could find nothing wrong with the steering or electronic system. This was one day after the first incident and the steering worked normally on the short ride to the mechanic. The car has now been at the dealer's service center. I am concerned that the car is not safe to drive.
I am Air Force Active Duty, stationed in Germany. The recall was released in Jan 2019. My vehicle was on its way to Germany at the time. I took my vehicle to the Honda dealer in Frankfurt, Germany. They performed the required work to update my recall. I believe, I'm waiting on the US to update the information as "Complete". I will be leaving Germany 3 May 2022 and will need to ship my vehicle prior to my departure. I can not ship it with an open recall. Please advice on what I need to do to get the proper documentation. Thank you!
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle inadvertently slowed down and stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the local dealer where it was diagnosed there was a failure with the wires. Additionally, the engine fan and the other fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. Consumer stated faulty high pressure fuel pump was the cause of the engine stalling. Consumer has another 2017 Honda Accord that is exhibiting the same issue. Consumer has been informed by American Honda that consumer needs to have it diagnosed at a Honda Dealership.
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Accord. The contact stated while at a complete stop at the stop light, the engine emitted abnormal sounds and was running abnormally as if the vehicle was going stall. The contact shifted to park and the engine started running normally. The contact then shifted to drive and continued to drive the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated while at a complete stop in a drive through, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light, brake warning lights, and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The contact and her husband pushed the vehicle into a parking space with assistance. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after 25 minutes and drove to her residence. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would follow up with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 46,500.
I purchased the car new on 9/16/16. I have had to replace the battery 4 times and I have had several incidents where the car froze/stalled, especially on left hand turns, for no reason, causing several near-misses from oncoming traffic. This is the record of car issues reported: 4/25/17 @ 9,197 miles – “freeze” issue first reported to the dealer. I did my best to describe it as a loss of power/unable to accelerate through an intersection. Upon a test drive with the service tech, I was unable to re-enact the problem. The dealer could not find any cause for the failure. 10/5/17 @ 15,604 mi - 2nd “freeze” issue reported. Dealer replaced battery stating dead cell was noted and instructed me to keep it out of ECO mode. 3/1/18 - Complained to Dealer that the car was idling rough. Could not find cause. 7/26/18 @ 26,363 mi - 3rd freeze issue complaint, however, no recommendations made. Also complained about idle and vibration in steering wheel. Could not find cause. 5/3/19 @ 36,660 mi - New battery purchased @ Interstate. 2/8/21 @ 56,785 mi - Battery purchased @ Honda for $188. Interstate refunded the purchase price of the battery from 5/19. 3/14/22 @ 73,924 mi - Battery replaced @ Honda. Dealer stated they noted the starter was sticking and it was replaced for $758. I continue to have issues with the car losing power in the middle of a turn, particularly when turning left and have adjusted the collision detection sensor. There are no warning lights or other indicators that I'm losin
Traffic was traveling at around 55 miles per hour. The car in front had to make a quick stop to avoid hitting a flagger that could not be seen due to the sun. My car that is equipped with Hondas forward collision mitigation system did not respond. I pressed the brakes myself but did not stop in time resulting in an accident. The system does activate randomly while driving and will slam the brakes when no objects are in the path of the vehicle.
While driving on an interstate, I started reducing my speed as I was approaching my exit. Before I could exit, my car automatically came to a complete stop. I was rear ended by a truck that was behind me. There were no vehicles or objects in front of me. 911 was called. The passenger in my car had to be transported to the hospital. My car and the truck had to be towed away. No warning lights appeared. My insurance company will be inspecting the car at the tow shop. Everyone involved safety was put at risk. We are thankful we are alive because this could have been worse.
Driving on the highway with the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking and lane keeping assistance engaged the vehicle will occasionally initiate an un-commanded, unreasonably abrupt brake application for seemingly no reason and often with no other vehicles in the vicinity. I've noticed Honda has issued a recall for 2018-19 Accords for this exact anomaly. It only stands to reason that my vehicle is experiencing this same defect as many of these systems are shared with the 2017 Accord. I won't use this feature as is because it seems unpredictably dangerous.
My backup camera at first was blurry and now all I can see is black with either orange or yellow lines. I depend on this camera

Glitchy infotainment system crashes (specifically Apple CarPlay). Users have to unplug phone and plug it back in multiple times while driving.
Car locked down on roadway and would not respond to accelerator until brake paddle action, as it did not accommodate the transmission B mode drag and falsely detected a pending collision. plus it falsely detects exit lane markings as collisions and engages brake. Also does not factor in gravity in collision avoidance. We have an uphill steep driveway and it will lock down in the driveway to avoid hitting something that the force gravity prevents. for a bit, disabled system and talked with service and then set the distance setting to short, which seems to have improved the issue.
I have continue to have issues with my navigation freezing. Then the whole navigation system will shut off and will eventually do a reboot in the middle of driving. It is definitely a safety hazard as you are trying to drive, navigate and try to figure out why your navigation system is breaking and not working working while driving. Especially If you are driving in an unfamiliar area using your navigation because you actually need it, then it becomes very frustrating and very dangerous and hazardous.
Positive and fused negative battery cables corrosion caused battery failure.
Daytime running burnt out.
All the warning lights came on in the dashboard. Took it to the dealer, replaced the steering sensor. Couple months later all the warning lights came on again.
While driving this Honda accord the sunroof suddenly exploded into thousands of little pieces. It rained down pieces of glass all over me and the interior of the car. Nothing hit the glass and I had never heard of this occurring until I began researching to see if it had happened to others. There are many instances where people have talked of this happening to them on the Honda forum and other places online. This is definitely a safety concern. Glass shattering and pouring down on people while they are driving is potentially a fatal flaw. Cars with sunroofs should be required to use laminated glass like for windshields,

My 2017 Accord infotainment system's Apple carplay constantly freezes whenever I use it. This is posing as a safety risk because the infotainment unit would randomly freeze up and require shutting off the car and turning it back on in order for it to work again. There are multiple people experiencing this. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2016-2017-honda-accord-carplay-issues.2287310/ https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/2016-accord-ex-l-apple-carplay-screen-freezes.554208/page-3#post-6821377
Back up camera stops working. 4 years of owner ship, 55,000 miles.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are no longer operating as designed. LF Drivers is partially lighting, and RF Passengers has completely failed and no longer lighting.
There is currently a recall (TSB 19-042) for 2016 to 2017 Honda Accord DRL LED's malfunctioning due to high voltage on the lower LED strip. Both headlights have experienced this failure. I took the vehicle in for a 100,000 (end of Certified Warranty Safety Inspection) and when I picked up the vehicle, I was informed all the Recalls that applied to my vehicle had been completed. When noted that this repair had not been done, I was told my vehicle VIN must not be "in range." My understanding is that ALL 2017 Accord Hybrid Touring Models were affected, so I'm not understanding that response. I'd like the units repaired as per the TSB.
When a passenger is on the car the airbag light will turn on on red like showing that the bag is off os is not working.
There is currently a recall for 2016 to 2017 honda led lights going out. My led light has gone out and I am being told my vin is not on the list. How is it determined which cars fall under the recall if my car is having the same issue. My car was manufactured with 2016 parts or what ever parts that affect the recall. I was told by honda Corp to pay for diagnostic which I don't think is fair.
[235/40R19 96V XL] **I AM IN CANADA, NOT NEW YORK, BUT SINCE YOU ARE THE FOREMOST AUTHORITY ON RECALLS, CANADA USUALLY FOLLOWS*** Tires came with car, brand new, September 2017. In year 2, I noticed a repeated noise coming from the tires and assumed it was the brakes and had them serviced. During my research, I found many articles and complaints from Honda Accord drivers with the similar model and tire set-up as me complaining about this persistent noise from the tires and it was determined that the steel belt inside the tire has loosened or something and is free within the tire, causing this noise. I stumbled upon a NHTSA recall notice on Continental tires for this exact reason, however the year of my car is not included within this recall. This is my request, to have the 2017 model year, where Honda mixed between Michelin tires and Continental tires - and for owners like me to be reimbursed with a new set of tires, free of cost. Per the NHTSA recall, this overheating during the manufacturing process causes the steel belt to become free and could cause a blow out. I would like my car and model of tire and the YOM to be included within this recall notice. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/continental-general-barum-tires-recalled-for-blowout-risk/
If the car sits idle for more than 4 days, the battery dies. The car has 60,000 miles and we are replaced the battery once and it continues to die if it sits for more than 4 days. The car pulls to the right side regardless of how many times I have it balanced. The LED day running light on the driver side front died when the car only had 50,000 miles on it.
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
