Just last week my engine started making a rattling sound from the bottom of the engine. This Honda has been properly maintained at the dealership and never gave any warning signs or symptoms. Now my mechanic says its the crankshaft and bearings. The check engine light turned on and the code was P0300.

I brought my 2014 Honda Accord to an authorized Honda dealership to have the CV axle recall completed. The dealership informed me that they would not perform the recall unless I paid out of pocket for “stripped/over-tightened bolts” that must be removed in order to complete the recall. Since this is a federal safety recall, I understand the law requires the manufacturer and dealer to complete the recall at no charge, including all labor and parts necessary to carry out the repair. By refusing to perform the recall unless I pay, the dealer is preventing me from receiving a federally mandated safety repair. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and ensure Honda/dealership complies with recall obligations.
Power Steering Failure on multiple occasions dating back to November of 2023. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the steering wheel would lock while car was in motion, at times while making a turn, preventing me from operating my vehicle safely. The problem has been confirmed by three independent service centers: Meineke, located at 9640 S Cicero Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Reyes Auto Care, located at 9200 Kilpatrick Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Highline Automotive, located at 11332 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL. Vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics who all came to the conclusion of power steering issue, requiring system update or total replacement of gearbox and/or rack and pinion. Warning lights come on when issue starts. Has been ongoing since I acquired car in Nov of 2023
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the vehicle jerked and unexpectedly downshifted. The steering wheel warning light, check engine warning light, ABS, and TPS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several years ago, and the steering wheel seized. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
Brake and power steering lights come on and off. Occasionally power steering malfunctions. The cause has been diagnosed as the abs module. I will have to get it rebuilt. The wiring is a known issue with Honda.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased, the advertisement and the odometer indicated the mileage was 79,000. The vehicle was a dealer purchase. The contact stated that when the vehicle was taken for inspection, the contact was informed that the mileage report indicated that the previous mileage was 128,000. The dealer was made aware of the issue, however, declined to confirm that the information was correct.
All the warning lights on the dashboard are ON except for emission lights namely, low tire pressure, brake lights, ABS, forward collision warning, airbag. I’m afraid during bad weather ABS system will not work properly. Car has 135k mileage. No safety recall checked by our mechanic. The lights never turned off when you drive.
The contact owned a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, in heavy traffic, the vehicle was rear-ended by the vehicle behind. As a result, the vehicle was propelled forward and was hit by an unknown vehicle, and was then hit by another vehicle, which caused the vehicle to spin around and hit the concrete median, where it came to a stop. Unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. None of the air bags deployed. The contact stated it was an eight-vehicle accident. The contact suffered injuries to the head when she impacted the B-pillar, a torn meniscus on the left knee, abrasions on the chest, clavicle, and side from the seatbelt, and lower back. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the city impound. The insurance company was contacted. The insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss and towed the vehicle to the impound yard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle was sputtering and jerking. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled and was towed several times. The contact stated that the starter was replaced several times. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving at an undisclosed speed, and the contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
Electric Power Steering System Indicator, Tire Pressure, ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System), FCW (Front Collision Warning), LDW (Lane Departure Warning)& Vehicle Stability Assist Indicator are the Warning lamps that appear on the dashboard all at the same time while driving. Other information provided as shown in the uploads
Power steering goes out during driving. In order for power steering to work again, you must pull over, shut off the car and restart it. It has mostly happen while we have been driving on straight highways and roads and luckily it hasnt happened during any curvy roads or turns. This is one of our main cars we use to drive around town and travel with for adults and children. We took it in to mechanic shop and was told it may be the ABS sensor and they are ordering parts to replace it to see if that fixes the problem. The FCW, check engine, and sliding lights have been turning on and off.
I am a huge Honda fan and I’ve only owned Accords and I have friends with the same body style Accord as mine. Every last one of us have failed or malfunctioning ABS modules as well as continuous catalytic converter issues. I have exhausted my bank account and the issue still presents itself. Due to the failure of the converter, my car is now stalling only when the AC is running in the vehicle. I feel these issues are common and a true safety do driving due to stalling and ABS braking malfunctions.
Forward collision warning system failure causing multiple light failures on dashboard
The ABS modulator assembly has a Yaw Rate Sensor (Code 81-19) internal circuit malfunction that affects the anti-lock braking system. The ABS uses pressure from the ABS pump to pulse each wheel's brakes individually if the vehicle slides or skids when braking. This part needs to function properly in slick and icy conditions for safe braking distance, etc. It seems that this part has failed in other countries on a routine basis and is becoming a problem for different Honda models and years. The failure of this component is also not consistent with mileage factors (meaning it fails at low, intermediate, and high mileage). I believe there should be a recall for this issue.
The ABS module control has failed in my vehicle. This failure is a potentially safety hazard. Per research, "Honda vehicles, particularly those from 2008-2017, have experienced ABS module failures, often indicated by an illuminated ABS light." A local Honda dealership diagnosed the issue. The vehicle has not bee inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance rep; however, the issue was diagnosed by a local Honda dealership. There are warning lights, that only appeared after the failure.
I have a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L with not even 62,000 miles. When we purchased the car we got the extended warranty, thinking Honda would stand by their product. Not true. After the first month we had to have the battery replaced. Fast forward a few years and we were told we needed a new battery”wire harness” at a cost of over $2,000. Now it is 2025 and the backup camera only works when the turn signal is used; it remains a black screen when put into reverse. Add to that what is apparently a major problem with other Honda owners. When we go to start the car, we get nothing. The CAR DOESN’T START. Thinking that the key fob needed a battery, we replaced them with new batteries. It continues to be a problem. I have a fear I will be out one day and it will not start completely. I see that I am not the only person complaining of this and feel that Honda should issue a recall for the Accord addressing this problem. I feel that I may become stranded one day and this seems to be a SAFETY ISSUE.
About a year ago, I was driving my car on the highway and it jerked and started smoking. At that same time, my forward collision warning came on. After doing a quick google search, I found I was not the only one with this issue. Honda Dealership told me I needed a new VSA modulator that cost thousands of dollars. I finally was able to get it fixed, and now (today 5/11/25) less than a few months after getting a new VSA modulator, the same thing happened. This needs to be an official recall. It is a safety hazard.
Was driving to work on April 11,2025. Engine stopped working after stopping at red light, all lights on dash came on-causing me to have to push the car from a main road into a business in order to not impede traffic or get hit. Had to have it towed to a body shop. Waiting to see what is wrong with the car, will update with more information as I have it.
ABS module failure. The mother board pins that connect are a poor design.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle vibrated abnormally, with an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 79,000.
Excessive oil consumption. I have 110,000 on my vehicle. Every 1000 miles I need to add 1 quart of oil. My vehicle is not leaking oil. This matter is very a common problem, well-documented issue for this Honda engine. Honda will not respond to my complaint.
[XXX] son was driving vehicle outside of city limits. Had come to a 4 way stop sign and proceeded to make a left hand turn towards town. After turning and accelerating vehicle made a loud noise and immediately began coasting to a stop. Son pulled over thinking something with the transmission as the motor is running fine. The car is "free rolling" while in park and will only make a "clunking/knocking" noise when put into gear. Used insurance to have vehicle towed the 14.8 miles home after being stuck on the highway for an hour. Today after internet searching found #20V769 regarding issue with broken driveshaft due to poor coatings from factory. Lack of coatings cause a premature failure due to rust build up, which is accelerated by road salt use. This bulletin covers several states that are in the "ice belt" of the US where they use road salt to treat the roads. Neighboring States of Iowa and Minnesota are both on the list, but not South Dakota. This vehicle has been registered in SD it's entire life(which explains why no previous owners received the bulletin). We live 15 min from both Minnesota and Iowa and having lived here for 42 years I know that we use salt to treat our roads. Please update the bulletin to include South Dakota as this needs to be covered under a safety recall due to identical situations causing premature failure. **Reached out to Honda Motorcars and received a case number as well. Purchased the car in August 2024 from Carvana, September the car shuts off at red light. Was told to replace the alternator. Shop replaced alternator but car still was cutting off while in parked or at complete stop. Was told to replace the battery, replaced the battery and months later car still shuts off. Had another mechanic look at it once hook up to scanner FCW light said failed system on odometer, MAF code showed on scanner. Scared to continue driving vehicle because of safety reasons car is not safe. Can’t return it so I’m stuck trying to figure out what could be the problem. Was told it could be electrical problem or battery sensor issue.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and making a right turn, the vehicle lost power and started rolling. The vehicle was able to reverse 100 ft. and to push the vehicle 20ft. into a nearby parking lot. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the front passenger's side CV axle was fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side CV axle was fractured and could not be separated from the knuckle. The dealer applied excessive heat to separate the CV axle from the knuckle to replace the drive shaft; however, the part could not be separated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train), which the dealer related to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the notice of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train) was previously sent; however, the contact had not received the recall notification. The contact was concerned that the absence of a recall almost caused the contact and his family members to be involved in a crash and to be injured. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 186,753.
VSA modulator, that controls ABS, failed. (core 123-11 vsa solenoid malfunction). The car is not safe to operate, until the VSA module is replaced (part # 04571-T2F-L21).
Abs module went out. Lights on dash turned on. Abs light, steering wheel light, break light, traction control light, took to the mechanic says it's the Abs module.
Vehicle drives fine but a week ago the steering, traction, ABS, & brake lights all lit up on my Accord's dashboard. Took car to our regular mechanic, who then conducted diagnostic testing. This in turn, indicated that the ABS control module is the cause. Steering, traction, & braking are quite vital in the safe manuerving of stopping & controlling a vehicle in motion. If unable to manageable do so, I, as well as many others are potentially at risk.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated, lost power, and jerked. There was an abnormal humming sound detected. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, AutoNation Honda Hollywood (2400 N State Rd 7, Hollywood, FL 33021); who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 49,135.
The ABS modulator has failed. It's a common issue with 2014 Honda Accords and they should be recalled for it. It causes all of the dash lights to come on and so you won't know when there is an actual issue with your car because all of the lights are on all of the time until you can get it repaired. Also your anti lock brakes could fail. I bought this car brand new in 2014. It has less than 80k miles and to pay thousands of dollars 10+ yrs later because Honda charges so much for the part, does not make sense.
The ABS light is on. brake light is on Auto shop said I need a new ABS module. Also the power steering light is on.
My front collision warning system failed my lane departure warning system has failed. Now on my dashboard all the lights are on abs, break, steering, tractions, tire pressure, fcw, and ldw are all on. Took it into Honda and they said it’s a malfunctioning vsa module. Now I won’t know any other issues that arise because this is telling me all of them aren’t working.
I did the recall and it still doesn’t appear clear on your page I have document to prove that
When driving at low speeds, for example looking for parking in my work parking lot, my 2014 Honda accord coupe lost power steering. Steering wheel became heavy and hard to turn. The screens flickered on the radio and the car felt like a manual car when it stalls. With every turn of the wheel the car would try to shut off. No warning light came on the dash. There was a car behind me when it happened. Even though it was a parking lot, the car behind me almost rear ended me since the car started to try to shut off when i was making a turn into the parking spot and he/she did not expect my car to stop before i completed the turn. This just happened an hour ago and since i had to come in to work I haven't taken it for a diagnoses yet.
A random day the cars steering wheel light came on,the abs light came on,the tire pressure light came on,and the traction control light came on
ABS Control Module Solenoid Valve Malfunction
No accident involved . Warning lights pop up on dashboard. Honda diagnosed that my ABS modulator need to be replaced. I have seen many comments online that many people are experiencing this problem. Fix is very expensive and people who can least afford it are going to be driving without this problem being corrected and maybe causing accidents which could be fatal. Will provide diagnosis by dealer if requested.
I'm trying to file a complaint about the 2014 Honda accord having a defective starter!! My starter went out on my car today and apparently it's very common problem on my year of Honda accord! Why hasn't Honda issued a recall on their starters for the 2014 Honda accords???? My neighbor is a licensed mobile mechanic and just confirmed that yes my starter is bad and I will need a new one! I don't have any documentation to upload because he did not charge me since we are next door neighbors! I definitely have decided that I won't be wasting my money buying a genuine Honda accord starter and will go with a aftermarket one because after reading reviews and stuff I am worried that I will be wasting my money on a obviously very problematic auto part and nobody had anything good to say about the starter for my year make model of car !! If I am not in the right section on this website that I should be 2 file a complaint about my starter then please let me know where I need 2 go to file it so hopefully Honda will finally fix the problem and recall the starter that is defective! Thank u
I am reporting that there are three things that needs to be addressed on the 2014 Honda Accord. 1. The drivers side seat, deflates and it consistantly has to be pumped back up while driving. 2. I've had to purchase (4) new car batteries for this 2014 Honda Accord that I own since I purchased it in 2016. That's unacceptable especially when there has been a recalled by Honda, on the 2016, for a battery senior issue? 3 The brakes on my 2014 Honda Accord car is most dangerous. When the brake is engaged and pressed hard, the brake fills with air and barely stops the car. I replaced the pad and rototes and it did not change a thing. Please have someone to check these things as well. I. The other Honda Accords are having issues with a Battery Senior then I am sure it's something in this 2014 that is killing my battery. The seat should not be deflating either and the brakes should not be barley stopping, when that is most important.
When I perform a parallel parking maneuver, I turn the steering wheel fully to the right or left and begin backing up slowly. As I reach the halfway point and attempt to turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction, it becomes stiff and difficult to move, as if it’s frozen.
What happened? While driving my 2014 Honda Accord, both the brake and steering warning lights suddenly illuminated. The steering became difficult, indicating a loss of power steering assist. I pulled over safely and discovered that the ABS light remained on. After towing the vehicle to a service center, the technician confirmed that the ABS pump/module had failed, which triggered both warning lights and caused a failure in the power steering system. This malfunction poses a serious safety risk, potentially leading to loss of braking efficiency and steering control. The failure was sudden, with no prior warning signs. The service center advised that the ABS module requires replacement. Legal Protections and Manufacturer Liability: As a consumer, I am protected under state lemon laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. These laws mandate that vehicles sold must be free from defects affecting safety and performance. The ABS pump/module failure directly compromises the vehicle’s safety, making Honda responsible for repair or replacement. I should not bear the cost of this repair, as the issue is a manufacturing defect. Widespread Safety Issue and Call for Investigation: It has come to my attention that thousands of 2014 Honda Accords are experiencing the same ABS pump/module failure, a clear safety issue that affects both the braking and steering systems. This is a widespread defect that Honda has yet to acknowledge with a formal recall. This issue appears to be purposefully hidd
The vsa module all lights are on the dash . This is a common issue in all 2010-2019 Honda accords
While driving on the road at about 45 MPH the power steering locked and the vehicle pulled off the road. The dealer ship stated is a known issue with faulty steering motors but the vehicle is not on a recall. This is hazardous and potentially deadly situation to be in.
Push/Start button has intermittent episodes of not starting the vehicle. Throughout all of Honda's models, this is a wide spread and known entity. The manufacturer has had recalls up to a certain date for this problem. Now they claim ignorance for this known malfunctioning part. I presume to save money and have consumers pay hundreds of dollars for a known but denied by Honda.... problem !!!
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while attempting to operate the vehicle, the vehicle failed to move forward or reverse. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V769000 (Power Train); however, since the vehicle was not diagnosed, it was not known if the failure was related to the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
Multiple Lights on Dashboard: ABS, EPS, Parking Brake, VSA, TPMS. Lights were intermittent at first, then became permanent. Car still runs and drives fine but ABS and Traction Control do not function. Local Mechanic scanned for codes and found the following: 121-11 VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction 81-20 Central Processing Unit internal circuit malfunction 85-01 VSA system malfunction Local Mechanic has seen this before and recommended replacement of the VSA Modulator Valve assembly (Part number 04571-T2F-L01). Repair has not been completed. Transmission died (CVT belt Broke) at around 195,000 miles and about 6 months after VSA system issue started. Unsure if the problems were related. Car now has a new Transmission.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while cold starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start immediately. The contact stated that four or five attempts to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred in cold or warm weather. The contact heard an abnormal grinding sound after each attempt to start the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
While driving, the Electric Power Steering system stopped working and the EPS warning light came on. I had to forcefully steer the car to the shoulder with great difficulty and shut the car off. I sat on the shoulder for approximately 10 minutes, restarted the car, noted the steering appeared to be functioning properly and began to continue home only to have the same issue again within 2 minutes of pulling away from the shoulder of the road. I managed to forcibly steer the car back onto the shoulder of the road and called for a tow truck to take it to a shop and the family home. The ship advised there was no fault code found with their system tools and that the issue may be with the electronics on the car needing to be reviewed/updated/replaced by Honda. It is my understanding this is not an isolated incident and could have resulted in a major crash had I not utilized my training as a police officer and accident reconstruction s[pecialist with the PD to recognize the issue and manage to keep the car safely in control until safely stopped.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there was film covering the inside of the headlights causing the headlights to fail to illuminate properly. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who confirmed that it was a known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had to be taken to a body shop to have the film cleaned off the headlights. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
My 2014 Honda has been have 2 major issues over the life of the vehicle. 1. VTC Actuator - prior to the oil indicator light coming on and the time to change the oil, my car screams out a loud consistent noise. I have reported this concern to Team Honda in Baton Rouge on numerous occasions. The most recent repost was on [XXX]. I am concerned my engine will fail or explode. 2. Tires Light Indicator (See Pictures) My tires were check on [XXX] and I spent almost $300 on a new tire. The same light which were on on that day came back on. All 4 of my tires were checked out and 3 out of 4 of them were in good condition. This has also been an ongoing issue. The tire light random come on, then the other 5 (all related) flashed an the dashboard. My first time experiencing this was less than a month after getting my vehicle but the tires was still covered under warranty at that time. By these lights coming on during non-emergencies, the consumer can not identify when the vehicle actually needed to be serviced. Both has been ongoing and reported for years and fed up with these issues. I am surprised they have not issued a recall yet! Thanks for reading this and I look forward to hearing from a Honda representative very soon. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
