In XXX the Buyer brand factory hitch installed on my 2022 Georgetown GT7 motorhome failed. The hitch cracked at the 90 degree bend where it mounts on to the frame rail extension on the passenger side. The crack was severe and almost to the point of completely coming detached from the motorhome. If this had happened the hitch, along with the towbar and our Jeep Wrangler would have come detached from the motorhome and become a hazard to us and other vehicles on the road. Forest River assisted in getting the hitch replaced with another Buyer brand hitch. The defective hitch was sent back to Forest River for inspection. In August of 2022 I took the Georgetown to the factory service center for inspection. They had MORyde look at it and install a cross brace and gussets on the frame rail extensions. Nothing was changed on the hitch itself. In XXX, during routine inspection I noticed a crack on the new hitch in the same location. Forest River could not provide a remedy because Buyer no longer manufactures this hitch and they did not know of another one that would fit, nor did they provide any explanation for the now second failure. They suggested I take it to a shop specializing in hitches. I had a custom fabrication shop install a heavier duty Curt hitch. Since XXX I have been discussing the problem with [XXX] (Forest River Georgetown service manager) and [XXX] (Forest River Georgetown GM) in an effort to find an explanation for the failures and a resolution. I provided them a list

“Frameless”, rear, fixed, upper window pane (Lippert brand), detached from its bonding and flew off the motorhome while in motion on the highway. Fortunately no one was struck with this. Unable to retrieve since we never knew exactly where and when it happened..

The windshield has started cracking due to a seal defect. The crack started on the bottom driver's side. Upon inspection of the crack it was discovered that the seal on the interior of the windshield is defective, it sinks down unlike the rest of the seal. Note that after an online search it was found that other georgetown owners have had the same problem in the same area of the windshield. I since contacted Forest river Inc. and explained to them that the windshield has cracked and that it wasn't damaged by a rock or other debris. And that I discovered the defective seal, I also sent pictures detailing the claim. They however refuse to except responsibility for the problem. Note as the windshield cracks further it can weaken the integrity of the glass. This could become very dangerous if left unattended.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
