2018 Ford Mustang with 10R80 10 speed transmission. Bronco like action when slowing almost whiplash like , stalls when stopping sometime, very hard shift jerking, hard downshifting when slowing, clunking into reverse, loss of power suddenly on the FREEWAY!!!!!!!!!, very hot transmission temperatures (230+), limp mode, Very unsafe if in any FORD or other vehicles have the 10R80. Immediate recall is needed, immediate acknowledgement by FORD MOTOR COMPANY is needed here so all the multiple lawsuits can stop and safety can / should be the top priority here. SAFETY 1ST.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while at stop light the rear end of the vehicle would began to shake before the vehicle would stall and shut off and the message "shift to park" had displayed. The contact indicated the failure was intermittent. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Recall Campaign number: 18V213000(Power Train). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 35,000.
The driver door suddenly unlatched while driving on the highway and the door open warning appeared on the dash. This is the second incident, the first was the passenger door.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine overheated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the purge valve was replaced due to a cylinder #3 misfire; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a second independent mechanic, where the fuel pressure sensor was replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was replaced; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the fuel injector needed to be replaced due to a cylinder #2 misfire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the temperature gauge indicated that the vehicle was overheating. The contact then became aware that coolant was leaking out of the exhaust. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him that either the head gasket was blown or there was a hairline fracture in the engine block or the cylinder head. The contact then called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was covered under warranty and referred him to the local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where he was then informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER COMES LOOSE AND THEN IT OPENS, ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, WHILE DRIVING. ADDITIONALLY, THE BACK WINDOWS DO NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY TO MEET THE FRONT WINDOW, SO I MANUALLY HAVE TO PULL THE WINDOWS CLOSED TO MEET THE SEAL OF THE FRONT WINDOWS. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW GETS STUCK AND WONT GO UP OR DOWN, SOMETIMES.
"Swollen Lug Nuts" Car was in for service and state inspection including tire rotation. Was informed that the car had "swollen lug nuts". Soft outer metal of lug nuts has deformed due to use of impact wrenches used in tire rotation over the life of the car. Continued swelling of the lug nuts will make it impossible to remove wheels with the manufacturer supplied tire iron.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster remained blank. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Instrument Panel Cluster assembly (IPC) needed to be replaced. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V076000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 33,000.
When driving at a normal rate of speed, but goes over a pothole or other large divit, the Passenger door becomes "AJAR" and the warning light indicates as such. Additionally, the power window on the driver side (even with the power off) goes up and down on its own (just less than an inch). It will remain with this action, unless I lower the window slightly. Then the motorized window stays as is. Finally, the back windows do not raise all the way up with the power button. You have to exit the vehicle and manually "pull" the window up into the full closed position.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that his son parked the vehicle and set the parking brake and exited the vehicle; however, the rolled away and crashed into a tree. The contact stated that after the failure, he researched online and found a recall for rollaway failures however, the vehicle was not manufactured in the date range of the recalled vehicles. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V213000 (Power Train) as the possible cause of the failure. The contact spoke with the local dealer and was made aware that the manufacturer was very rigid when it came to vehicles that were not included in a recall even if the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The contact was also informed that the manufacturer would not help if the VIN was not included in the recall. As a result, the rear bumper was dented, and the contact was unsure if the panel under the trunk was cracked. The contact stated that his son remembered shifting the vehicle into park and applying the parking brake. The contact stated that he heard a chime before exiting the vehicle but had not checked to identify the source of the sound. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. A police report was not filed. The contact had assistance with placing the vehicle back into the initial parking space. The dealer was notified, and the contact was advised to schedule an appointment for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repair

My 2018 Ford Mustang with Automatic Transmisson recently(Sept) started having issues with the gear shift being placed in Park, but the instrument panel is not illuminated in Park. If driver door is open, and keys removed, the chime may or may not sound. Research is showing same issue being reported and recalls were done due to missing roll pin that attaches the park pawl rod guide cup to the transmission case, and unseated transmission gear shift cable clip. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury or crash. The recalls only covered vehicles manufactured at a certain plant. However, my VIN # is not included in recalls. Due to safety concerns that my vehicle may lose Park function and roll away, causing damage/harm to others, I feel it should be included in the recall programs and repaired at no cost to me. I have not taken vehicle to Dealership at this point, as they will charge me $150 diagnostic fee.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the reverse lock out collar failed to operate as needed. Due to the failure, the contact was able to freely shift the vehicle into reverse while driving. The contact practiced extreme precaution while driving to prevent the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that a customer satisfaction program had been placed on similar vehicles for the failure; however, his vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
September 9, 2022 at 4:45 P.M. CST. Less than 300 yards from merging onto the interstate, my children and I heard an extremely weird noise coming from the passenger side of my car, so I immediately pulled over. My daughter and I both looked at each other and asked, “what is that?” I told my daughter I knew I did not have a flat, however I felt like there was something wrong with my tire. We exited my car and found that my passenger side front tire had wire showing and was tearing/ripping at the “belt”. This occurred on/near the inner sidewall. I drive a 2018 Mustang GT, and had this occurred while traveling at 75mph on the interstate, it is likely it would have ended badly. It is likely that I would have lost control of my car and I could have possibly totaled my car, rolled/flipped it and it could have taken the lives of myself or my two children who were with me. I have found multiple other complaints regarding the same issue that I just experience at the following link: https://continentaltire.custhelp.com/app/social/questions/detail/qid/65/~/extreme-contact%2C-unacceptable-tread-wear Based upon those reviews and what I experienced today, this seems to be a manufacturer defect, which should not only be addressed and recalled but be replaced free of cost. Once I found the problem, I put my spare on, drove home and removed both front tires and put two of my stock wheels and tires on the front. Upon inspecting the driver side front tire after removal, I found that it too had
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V076000 (Electrical System) however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and it was confirmed that the vehicle was already repaired under the recall. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed to be repaired out-of-pocket. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 58,000.
Air Conditioning Evaporator leak, appears to be a design flaw as there are MANY reported failures of the evaporator as well as failures with replacement after the repair is complete. Ford Mustangs appear to be plagued with AC related issues and various TSBs have been issued due to these issues TSB: 18-2255 18-2166 SSM 47967 SSM 48135 SSM-45815 SSM 47850 SSM 47012 SSM 47149
My engine started knocking/ticking at around 6,000 miles, shortly after my first oil change. I was aware of the knocking issies, thanks to numerous youtube videos, before i even recieved my special order mustang so i made sure to use the same oil and filter that originally came with my car. Now the car has 18,500 miles on it, the knocking/ticking is getting worse and worse every year and Ford is calling the problem "normal" and refuses to do any repairs. The car has now been unsuccessfully serviced 3 times and should now be placed under the lemon law.
This issue is when a haze develops on the inside of the windshield in the line of sight of the forward facing camera that detects vehicles, objects, traffic lanes and rain sensing. Since this area of the windshield is enclosed, there is no way to clean it. This is not condensation but dust particles that adhere to the glass, possibly from AC or heat that flows along the windshield and also it possibly enhanced in humid climates. When the issue occurs, the dash warning will appear stating, "Front Camera Low Visibility Clean Screen" and the outside windshield is definitely not dirty. I've taken this to my local Ford dealership and they claim they have no way to address the problem and suggested I take it to a windshield replacement shop, such as SafeLite, they also said it is not covered under any Ford warranty. I find this odd, since it is a potential design defect with the vehicle. This is a random occurrence and because of the warning, I fear it diminishes the accuracy of everything the front sensor detects and could be potentially dangerous. I've found several postings in vehicle forums online with the same issue but nothing about Ford or anyone resolving it, so this is not an isolated issue. Here is one posting in a forum showing the warning as well as images of the camera/windshield area that is the issue. https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/front-camera-haze.156882/ This is exactly what I'm experiencing. Also, doing a google search for the above warning message will
Driving at highway speeds, the passenger door suddenly unlatched and "door adjar" notification warning was displayed. Had to exit the highway in order to close and secure door. I have previously reported this same issue, to NHTSA several times before. I have video of the incident.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated when he had parked his vehicle at his residence driveway and returned later, the vehicle had rolled forward 200 feet into a neighboring parking lot. The vehicle had been stopped by a parking block causing damage to the driver’s side rear fender. Additionally, there was damage to the front-end undercarriage due to climbing over the parking blocks. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the check transmission warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V213000 (Power Train). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,198.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? THE ELECTRONIC, ALL DIGITAL DASHBOARD WENT COMPLETELY BLACK FOR ABOUT 25 SECONDS WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, IN TRAFFIC AT NIGHT, 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK, I WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ANY INFORMATION THAT IS NORMALLY DISPLAYED, SUCH AS SPEED, AMOUNT OF FUEL, ETC. NOTHING. THIS GLITCH TOOK MY ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE INTERSTATE AND TRAFFIC. IT FRIGHTENED ME TERRIBLY. I COULD HAVE EASILY HAD AN ACCIDENT AS I TRIED TO FIGUE OUT THE ISSUE IN THE DARK. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? THE IS UNKNOWN TO ME. HOWEVER, IF YOU SIMPLY GOOGLE, "DASHBOARD GOES BLANK IN FORD 2018 MUSTANG', YOU WILL FIND MANY, MANY OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS STATING INCIDENTS OF THE EXACT SAME BLACK OUT HAPPENING TO THEIR INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN DRIVING THEIR CARS. FROM WHAT I READ, THIS ISSUE IS NOT LIMITED TO THE 2018 MODEL YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO FORD, YET THEY SEEM UNWILLING TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? THIS QUESTION IS UNKNOWN TO ME 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC, AT NIGHT, THE INSTRU
I shifted into reverse and the rear-view camera image was very distorted. I shifted to neutral and then reverse again with no help. After checking the internet for info I found comments regarding the wire harness leading to the trunk lid. I did not find any obvious damage, but jiggled the wires and re-checked the system and the rear-view image came back with a clear image. over the next week, the image become distorted multiple times and sometimes gone to a no signal message. This is occurring more frequently makes it impossible to see objects/children/etc close to the rear of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH and accelerating, the vehicle started jerking. The contact stated while shifting gears the service tire mobility kit warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to several dealers to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
The Accessory Protocol Interface Module failed. All functions of the camera, radio and entire middle display console do not work. When backing up to exit parking space or to back into a parking space I can't see what is behind me and have almost hit items multiple times. The dealer inspected and told me what the issue is; that it is not under warranty and would cost approximately $1000 to repair, which I don't have. There was no forewarning of this module failure; it occurred suddenly and without warning.
2018 with 24,000 miles (purchased brand new) every morning until the car warms up I dont have navigation, radio, Bluetooth, or back up camera's. I was told this was a common problem with Ford from the dealership but its not a recall. After researching online, its a very common problem with all makes and models of Ford. Of course I'm out of warranty to replace the APIM which is going to cost 1,000 out of pocket. Safety concerns: I have to navigate using my phone which is a distraction while driving, same thing with phone conversation I can be hand free, and I have a major blind spot while backing up because of no camera.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument cluster remained blank. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle several times however, the instrument cluster remained blank. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle would be repaired at his own expense. The manufacturer advised the dealer and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V076000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 19,500.
Battery terminals on this and other ford models corrode to the point of breaking electrical connection possibly disabling vehicle. Ford does not want to fix issue and says whole wiring harness requires replacement to repair. Battery is often replaced and terminal cleaned but it comes back. They try to put off repairs long enough to get it out of warranty. F150 ford pickups have same issue. Corrosion advances so far as to break battery cable clamp. It is generally the positive clamp. Problem is so common that aftermarket manufacturers have issued redesigned replacements.
10 speed Ecoboost transmission, doesn't stay in gear and delayed shifts causing acceleration problems. Hard shifts, jerking, and hard lunge forward when shifted into Drive. The forward lunge is unstoppable even with the brake fully engaged. Transmission slip when changing gears while driving. Yes, it's available for inspection. Yes, mine and others safety risk are at risk. Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. Inspected by an authorized dealer/manufacturer. NO other warning lamps or messages.
Purchased a used 2018 Ford Mustang 3 weeks ago, just now able to get it registered, and the entire electronic instrument panel cluster (e.g., speedometer, warning lights, etc.) all went fuzzy for a few minutes and then totally failed; now just stays totally dark and unreadable. This is an optional all digital instrument panel cluster with programmable color that was a $2,200 option when new. I read online in car forums reports of many others having the same exact issue with the optional 2018 Mustang digital instrument cluster failing and going dark some within weeks of the car being new, and there was a recall on this instrument panel going dark for the 2019 model year. I saw an online post where a driver is driving for 6 months without the speedometer or warning lights functioning because of the repair cost being more than $2000. I got a quote from a Ford dealer for my repair today: $2396.00. This car is less than 5 months out of bumper-to-bumper Ford warranty and under the 36,000 miles limit at 30,383. This appears to be a known and apparently frequent safety issue so I thought Ford customer support might help me out but on calling them today they said they cannot do anything to help. They expect me to pay the $2396.00 for repairs with no assistance for what looks to be an inherent safety defect.
Passenger door becomes unlatched and the door open light comes on at high way speeds. I have to stop, open the door and slam it shut. It happens repeatedly.
My digital dashboard has not been working for a year now, it’s a black screen. I am also having problems with my fuel pump. I can’t fill my car all the way up with gas or else my car will not start.
Instrument cluster went black. Can’t know what speed I’m driving or anything. Have seen some people reported this issue.
The passenger door become unlatched while driving. This happened on numerous occasions.
The transmission failed while driving on a busy street making a left turn. My safety and my passenger's safety was at risk because there was oncoming traffic when I made a left turn and a car was trailing me. Just like another complaint, "10 speed transmission did not engage then failed less than a second later while pulling into an intersection. This caused the car to enter the intersection but fail to go forward more than a few feet. The problem resolved after three attempts to go forward by pumping the gas peddle. The transmission also was jerking or jumping from 1st through 3rd gear as if the car could not find the correct gear to be in while going forward. The problem resolved after the first mile of driving". However, for me the problem returned again once I turned the car off, and restarted it. After less than a mile of driving, the transmission began malfunctioning again jumping, and jerking until the transmission just stopped working altogether. Someone has posted experiencing the same malfunction on the same model and year vehicle and I wonder if there are others that have had the same scary, horrible experience? Due to my transmission malfunctioning during my turn, I was lucky that the oncoming car just stopped and blew at me, and the car behind me just went around me instead of crashing into my rear. The car was towed to the dealer and is in the process of being evaluated. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident and the automobile is now at
Driver's door suddenly unlocks while driving in highway and message appears "Driver Door Ajar". Creates dangerous situation and have to stop to close door properly. This happened 3 in highway in different days and 2 or 3 times every day. Last time with 59244 miles.
Touchscreen went completely black. Unable to operate radio, temperature control is only available in the buttons below the screen. Tried resetting it, tried unhooking the battery, nothing. Hooked it up to see if it had any codes, none. Tested fuses- everything worked except screen. Spent $158 at Ford dealer only to be told I need a new APIM module which in total is going to cost $740. Car has 56,000 miles on it and is only 3 years old.
10 speed transmission did not engage then failed less than a second later while pulling into an intersection. This caused the car to enter the intersection but fail to go forward more than a few feet. The problem resolved after three attempts to go forward by pumping the gas peddle. The transmission also was jerking or jumping from 1st through 3rd gear as if the car could not find the correct gear to be in while going forward. The problem resolved after the first mile of driving. This is a recurrent but sporadic issue. The issue has caused near miss collision by another driver thinking my car was going to accelerate when the forward motion stopped but there were no brake lights in indicate the car was not going forward. The jerking and jumping has made it hard to control the car during turns and on slippery road. I have an appointment scheduled for service at a Ford Dealer for them to see if the issue is able to be address.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONTACT STATED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PLANET FORD (20403 I-45, SPRING, TX 77388, (281) 719-3700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING AN UNKNOWN SPRING IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 10 MONTHS AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND SEVERAL TIMES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TWICE WITHIN 30 MINUTES ON THE LAST OCCURRENCE.
CAR OWNER 2ND GENERATION MILEAGE 23,000+ ODOMETER. COMPLAINT SAYS VEHICLE WHEN IN REVERSE AND GOES BACK INTO DRIVE DURING SHIFTING. VEHICLE SOMETIMES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN APPLYING GAS PEDAL. VEHICLE HAS NO FORWARD POWER AND IF BRAKES AREN'T APPLIED CAN DRIFT BACKWARDS AND CAUSE A COLLISION. OR BACK OVER OF A CHILD. VEHICLE IS UNDER 5 YEAR WARRANTY POWERTRAIN AND WILL BE INSPECTED TO REPLICATE THE INCIDENT. DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL BEING OF NEW OR LIKE NEW CONDITION WARRANTS A SAFETY COMPLAINT TO NHTSA. FORD MOTOR CORP DEALERSHIP WILL CONDUCT A REPAIR PLAN UNDER CAR'S WARRANTY.
I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT TWO DIFFERENT TIMES IN A MUSTANG AND THE MOST OF MY INJURY WAS TO MY LEFT LEG FROM THE AIR BAG. I AM STILL LIMPING FROM IT. IT CAUSED MASSIVE BRUISES AND A FRACTURE TO MORE THAN ONE AREA OF MY LEFT LEG. ON THE DRIVER SIDE. BOTH ACCIDENTS WAS ON A CITY STREET. GOING 35 MILES AN HOUR.
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING, LANE KEEPING ASSIST, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, DRIVER NOTIFICATION AND AUTO HIGH BEAM CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ON 2018 FORD MUSTANG. CAR CURRENTLY IN SHOP HAVING IMAGE PROCESSING MODULE RECALIBRATED FOR $1232.22. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR OTHER MUSTANGS AS INDICATED BY RECALL 20S26. FORD CLAIMS MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE FOR THE SAME, KNOWN ISSUE. THE SYSTEM ALERTS ME THIS IS NOT WORKING AS SOON AS THE CAR IS STARTED VIA MESSAGE ON DASH AND SEVERAL BEEPS.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER RELEASING PEDAL, SOMETIMES ALSO AFTER PARKING CAR AND TURNING OFF.
THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM (SYNC 3 W/ CARPLAY) THAT CAME STOCK WITH MY 2018 MUSTANG ECOBOOST RECENTLY STOPPED WORKING. THE CAR HAS 42K MILES ON IT AND IS JUST OVER 2 YEARS OLD. SYNC 3 STARTED TO RANDOMLY LAG (20-60 SEC LAG PER BUTTON PRESS), BUTTONS BECAME UNRESPONSIVE (PRESS NOT RECOGNIZED AT ALL), SHOWED INCORRECT GPS LOCATIONS WHILE USING CARPLAY (PLUGGED IN) WITH MULTIPLE MAP SERVICES, BACKUP CAM ISSUES, AND WOULD CAUSE BLUETOOTH TO DISCONNECT RANDOMLY. I LOGGED A COMPLAINT WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND BROUGHT IT IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE APIM COMPONENT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALERSHIP NOTED THIS IS COMMON AND PLAGUES OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME APIM. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH VERIFIED THIS. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THIS: WHILE USING THIS SYSTEM IT CAN CREATE MANY DISTRACTIONS WHILE DRIVING IF THE SYSTEM IS NOT RESPONDING AS EXPECTED. EVEN THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS HAVE A LAG TO THEM. ONE SUCH SCENARIO THAT CAUSED GREAT ISSUE WAS ADJUSTING THE CLIMATE CONTROL DURING COLDER MONTHS WHEN THE WINDOWS/WINDSHIELD FOG UP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN'T SEE WHILE DRIVING. TYPICALLY, I CAN REACT QUICKLY TO GET RID OF THE FOG, BUT SINCE THIS COMPONENT IS DEFECTIVE, THE SYSTEM DID NOT RESPOND AND THE FOG HAD TO BE MANUALLY REMOVED. ADDITIONALLY, THIS COMPONENT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED WITHIN 2YR OF PURCHASE OF THE CAR, SINCE IT IS A COMPUTER. FORD OFFERED TO REPLACE THE APIM COMPONENT, FOR $1000 (WARRANTY EXPIRED AT TIME OF DIAGNOSTIC TEST). WHAT IS EVEN MORE
THE VEHICLES PASSENGER FRONT SEAT RECLINING LATCH HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND NOW THE SEAT WILL NO LONGER STAY IN A LOCKED BACK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING WHEN THIS PART WAS BEING USED BY A CHILD TO ALLOW EXIT FROM THE BACK SEAT. WITH THE SEAT NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK BACK IT HAS NOW ADDITIONALLY CREATED A LACK OF VISION FOR THE DRIVER TO LOOK FOR ONCOMING VEHICLES THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR SINCE THE SEAT IS ALWAYS LEANING FORWARD.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR COMES OPEN AT LOW OR HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DOES THE SAME THING. MY MUSTANG IS A CONVERTIBLE SO WHEN THE DOORS COME OPEN OR AJARED IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE OR IN THE COUNTRY OR IN THE CITY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS.
2018 MUSTANG GT 6 SPEED PERFORMANCE PACK, TIRES RUBBING ON INNER WHEEL WELLS CAUSING WIRES TO SHOW ON INSIDE OF TIRE, FEW MONTHS AGO TOOK CAR IT TO DEALERSHIP SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT THERE IS HOLES RUBBED INTO MY WHEEL WELLS, ALSO HAD A CLUTCH ISSUE AND NOISE AT SAME TIME AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AGAIN, TOOK CAR BACK AND A WEEK AGO HAD A CLUTCH AND TRANS PROBLEM COME ABOUT, HAVE TO FORCEFULLY PUSH SHIFTER INTO A GEAR FOR IT TO GO IN, WITH THE CLUTCH FULLY PRESSED I CAN PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND IT WILL ATTEMPT TO TAKE OFF, WITHOUT RELEASING THE CLUTCH, I CANNOT GET THE CAR INTO 6TH 5TH, 2ND AND REVERSE. 1ST,3RD,4TH GEARS ARE HARD TO GET IN BUT WILL GO FORCEFULLY. WITH CAR OFF I CANNOT GO IN MANY OF THE GEARS EITHER. WHEN THIS LAST PART HAPPEND I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO GO INTO 3RD AND IT WOULDN'T GO IN SO I DECIDED TO TRY 4TH AND IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS BEFORE, CAR SEEM TO SHAKE WHILE DRIVING ALSO
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY.
I WAS INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT ON 8/22/20 WHILE DRIVING MY 2018 MUSTANG GT. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY...EVEN THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER AND COLLISION SHOP ARE WONDERING WHY. MY CAR WAS TOTALED...I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WORKED AS INTENDED. I WAS HIT ON THE DRIVER SIDE WHILE TRAVELING APPROX 30MPH, THE DRIVER THAT HIT ME STATED TO POLICE THAT HE WAS GOING 45MPH.
DIGITAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS TO ILLUMINATE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED.
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
