Check engine light came on. Took car to dealership where I learned that the car needs a new engine due to coolant leaking into the cylinders. I later learned this is a "known issue" with this engine, yet Ford has refused to fix or do a recall. The engine could fail or catch on fire if not replaced.

Clutch pedal is making a creaking sound when pressed and released. This is known on online forums to lead to failure of the welds near the top of the pedal arm where it pivots. This can cause the pedal to come off while driving and is not safe.
Took Mustang Ecoboost to Ford dealership as result of steady check engine light. Prior to check engine light rough idle at start up that smooths out after 10 to 15 seconds. Dealer identified CYL 3 misfire as well as random misfires. They also observed carbon tracking on plugs. Dealer replaced plugs and performed GDI cleaning service. About three weeks following repair same conditions reappeared rough idle and check engine light. Upon dealer inspection and use of bore scope discovered coolant intrusion in cylinder and recommended long block engine replacement. The second dealer appointment was several days after my warranty expired and mileage was 30,106 miles. Although the dealership was very supportive and understanding Ford would not provide any assistance even after I also pursued relief directly. As a result the long block engine replacement cost is $8,200. After considerable research was able to identify that ecoboost 2.3 engines as well as other small ecoboost engines all had a block defect that has since been corrected. The defect tends to permit, over time, coolant to leak into cylinders. Although a new head gasket may correct the condition, Ford normally recommends long block engine replacement as a long term fix. This condition if not attended to or if coming on suddenly will cause total engine failure. And, as failure can only occur when operating an engine failure under any driving condition is fraught with danger. To my knowledge Ford has not taken any steps to a

Car has issues with SYNC software and Radio Module and the display screen goes black while reverse parking or using the navigation system. Car is with the dealership and they are not able to do diagnosis as ford sync system has issues.
2018 Ford Mustang Echo boost. Engine light came on code P0420 which is the Catalytic Converter and we already new this when bringing it into Ford dealership. We informed the check in Advisor the Transmission feels like it's slipping or jerks when in 2nd Geer which slows down the vehicle. Took it to Ford and was first informed the Transmission was good nothing wrong with it just need to change my Catalytic Converter because that was the code. We changed the Catalytic Converter but when driving still was experiencing the same thing we originally brought it in for which is the Jerking and slowing down upon accelaration. Took it back to Ford they re checked it and said the CDF Drum is failing and to repair it would cost $4000. I don't have $4000 and my vehicle is out of warranty because of the mileage.
Car jerking,Rpm needle jumps alot, feel like im going to run into someone or something, not getting gas mileage like before.
Head gasket failure from research online there seems to be a flaw in the engine block that leads to coolant leaking in between cylinder walls causing premature head gasket failure.
Ford selling vehicles with malfunctioning engines. This malfunction is allowing coolant to mix in with the oil causing misfires, which leads to the car consuming all of its coolant which can cause the engine to catch on fire. Ford has known about this issue for years and are not trying to put a recall on the engine. They’re making customers pay out of pocket to fix the engine. the dealer determined that the failure was a result of coolant intrusion into cylinder #2 #3. Due to the failure, the engine needed to be replaced. There’s been reports of the vehicle engine completely shutting down while people are driving on the roads. There’s been reporting of the car overheating and catching on fire. The vast majority of consumers who bought the 2.3 liter engines from years 2013-2019 are experiencing these problems. While driving on the highway, the vehicles engine misfired causing lost of power. Luckily I was able to move to the side.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the "Exhaust Mode Not Available" message was displayed. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the active exhaust on the rear passenger side had rubbed against the subframe, causing valve fuse 34 to blow. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Gas tank does not fill properly. Gas back feeds up the tube and all over the car. To fill gas tank it takes about 30min pumping a few cents at a time.
Passenger door unlatches and opens on its own at highway speed.
Engine block failure at 47k miles. Car was driven at 1/4 throttle or less when detonation occurred creating a hole in the engine block. This is so prevalent that it is colloquially termed “ecoboom.” Cost of repair is nearly $9,500
For three years, this Mustang will lurch frequently after you shift into first or reverse from park. I had it looked at Paradise Ford 3 years ago and they REFUSED to look at transmission until the car had 125k miles on it. At that time, the car only had 98k miles on it. I tried to insist, but they refused. The service helper was named Mark, I believe. The other day I was driving on a 10mph park road .....more like coasting because it was a low speed limit. The car suddenly jerked forward. Today I took it into Gary Yeoman Ford in Palm Bay, FL for a transmission check. The service advisor was Jason. They said there was a cdf hub issue and stated I needed a new transmission for 6600.00. Of course I refused and came home to research their "diagnosis". I found an article about a,10R80 bushing that has caused the same exact problem is other Mustangs. I feel like they were giving me the run around. I don't want this to cause further problems. It should have been fixed at Paradise Ford. I have owned this car for 5.5 years. I'm quite familiar with how it runs. Please advise.

The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,113.
The radio screen which controls the back up camera climate control, and everything else has gone black and only turns on once every few weeks, when car is turned off it does not come back on. After a diagnostic test done at Yark Ford they recommended a APIM module and this would run $1412.70 + tax. After throughly investing this on the internet this is a common problem with this year and model. Ford should offer a recall!!
Due to a faulty design were antifreeze is allowed to get into the cylinders and mix with the oil, the engine malfunctioned while I was on a busy highway and I barely got off the road onto the shoulder. It was very dangerous. I thought it was an isolated incident but it happened again. Now they want to charge me $8,400 to replace a defective engine. I know some of Ford's similar engines are being recalled. Thank you
Like many many Ford Mustangs 2015 and newer, the AC Evaporator has failed and is leaking. This can cause condensation on the windshield and visibility issues with fogging / defrosting. Ford refuses to replace the defective evaporator. Ford dealer Coughlin Ford, Newark, Ohio diagnosed the defect and provided an estimate of $2,679.88 to replace the evaporator.
The review camera screen turns blue every time it’s put on reverse.
On multiple occasions now, the passenger side door has randomly opened, which sets off the door ajar warning, and I have to pull over and close the door. In addition, again randomly, the passenger side door locks will unlock, then relock, usually several times in rapid succession. Both situations seem to occur only when the vehicle is in drive, and not while in park. The vehicle is available for inspection; Fortunately, no one was sitting in the passenger seat when these instances occured; The problem has not yet been diagnosed by a dealer or service center; It has not been inspected by anyone; There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure, only after the door popped open. I am making this report prior to having it inspected by the dealership because it seems to be a very common problem with other Mustang owners as evidenced by this site, as well as on Mustang forums.
Transmission solenoid malfunction (p0757). car came to an abrupt stop in the middle of a speeding boulevard for no external reason at all. there was no prior impact or damage. i almost got rear-ended and t-boned ten times. considering the amount of complaints on this ford transmission 10R80, i firmly believe this transmission needs to be recalled and our repair/damage expenses reimbursed. Thank you.
We purchased this vehicle for my daughter as a graduation present and while she was driving it the engine malfunctioned stranding her on a busy highway. We then found out it is the defective EcoBoost engine manufactured by Ford that was the cause of this incident. We have been trying to get it repaired but Ford will not cooperate even though they know this engine is a defective product. Could we please get some assistance with this as we just purchased this vehicle a year ago and we are now being asked to spend $8,000 to replace a defective engine. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
An issue occurred with the passenger door latch. The passenger door of my vehicle unlatched to a secondary latching position at a speed of 70 mph, causing wind to rush in around the closed window and the door open indicator light and chime to activate. The door had been securely shut at a rest area 30 minutes prior to the incident. Although the subject of Customer Satisfaction Program 21N10, which requires the owner to pay a diagnostic fee to confirm an issue with the latches, Ford has not acknowledged this door latch issue via a safety recall.
Ford Incorporation is selling vehicles with malfunctioning engines. Ford cut in between each cylinder block to allow the coolant to cool the engine, however this design is extremely flawed, it causes the head gasket seal to break. Replacing the head gasket isn’t an enough to fix the problem because the oil and coolant are mixing inside of the engine. There’s been reports of the vehicle engine completely shutting down while people are driving on the roads. There’s been reporting of the car overheating and catching on fire. The vast majority of consumers who bought the 2.3 liter engines from years 2013-2019 are experiencing these problems.
Just like the other Ford Ecoboost engines, mine is also leaking coolant into the engine, which is causing me to have to buy an entire new engine. The code is reading a misfire into the third cylinder initially which I “fixed” with a tuneup. Turns out, I’ll need an entire new engine.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Passenger side door is unlatched by itself while driving on highway. It was empty so i am sure it opened itself.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was advised that the 1st and 2nd clutch plates needed to be replaced; however, when the contact attempted to start the vehicle the next day, it was difficult shifting gear, causing the vehicle to jolt while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be removed and the CDS Drum needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Ecoboost Turbo engine has a known flaw - coolant channels were placed between cylinders that don't allow them to seal properly and this leaks coolant into the engine eventually causing engine failure. FORD corrected this defect in 2020 but did not correct previous customers. As a result I am now being referred by my local dealer to replace the whole engine. I have only had this vehicle for 4 years and have only used 45K miles in that time frame. I have lost power while driving WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I've already spent thousands of dollars on repairs only to find out the issue was the engine and a KNOWN issue that Ford covered up. Ford needs to be held liable for this and they should be responsible for replacing my engine. And the time and money spent attempting to fix this issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact used a code reader which indicated that a spark plug had caused an engine misfire. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was confirmed as a spark plug misfire; however, the dealer determined that the failure was a result of coolant intrusion into cylinder #3. Due to the failure, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 72,212.
The rear backup camera no longer works for my Mustang 2018.

Coolant leaking in 3rd cylinder causing engine misfires. The vehicle has less than 50K miles on it and shouldn't be having these issues. The shop quoted nearly $5,000 to fix. Many other mustang owners are having this same issue.
Ecoboost 4 Turbo engine has a known design flaw - coolant channels were placed between cylinders that don't allow them to seal properly and this leaks coolant into the engine eventually causing engine failure. FORD corrected this defect in 2020 but never let customers know. I now have a 5 year old car in immaculate condition that needs a new engine. It doesn't start reliably and I have lost power while driving a few times. I've already spent $1600 on repairs only to find out the issue was the engine and a KNOWN issue that Ford covered up. If I want to repair my car I am responsible for 5K in engine repair. Ford needs to be held liable for this and they should be responsible for replacing my engine.
While traveling about 70 to 75 mph the passenger side door unlatched and several minutes later the driver side door unlocked the door is a jar alert showed on the dashboard this happened twice
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking at start up. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that coolant had leaked into cylinder #3, causing the engine to overheat and caused engine damage. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Rear back up camera quit working just like on previous models of the mustang.
When shifting into drive from reverse there's a two to 3 second delay and when it does go into drive it jerks foward
The contact owns a 2018 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while parked, he attempted to access the trunk of the vehicle, and upon depressing the trunk release, he heard clicking, but the trunk failed to open. Upon investigation, the contact noticed that the trunk appeared stuck or jammed, with no external damages observed. A month prior to the trunk malfunction, the contact noticed unspecified video feed issues with the rearview camera. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a Ford dealer, who diagnosed a malfunctioning body wiring harness in the trunk and related the malfunction to the rearview camera failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 81,000.
The parking brakes do not engage or release, perpetually stuck in-between (half-engaged). The handle inside the car can travel all the way to the top, but brakes do not engage enough to keep the car from rolling down my driveway without a brick under the tire. Upon inspection, it is obvious that the lever that controls the brakes does not release on either rear caliper (it only moves up - to the fully engaged position, but does not release). This began happening in 2019, but considered it normal wear. In 2021, the car started rolling back on hills. Ford was not helpful with the issue. I followed a service guide for adjusting the tension on the cable. This improved the situation until early 2023. Now, all of the adjustments are at max and the parking brake is inoperable. As Ford was previously unwilling to help, I'm hoping NHTSA can assist. Parking brakes should not fail after 1 year. They are not a wear item.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
