Backup camera image quality

Visibility/Wiper
Filed Apr 26, 2023TN

The backup camera on my 2015 Mustang GT has been intermittently going out leaving a blank screen or a failed image on the dash display saying I need to contact Ford. I have been notified of a recall by the manufacturer on my particular vehicle. However, after taking my car in they said the recall span as determined by Ford apparently does not include my particular car, even though mine was manufactured in the middle of the production years 2015 - 2017. My car persists in having this issue and the wiring at the trunk lid appears defective and the insulation is split. The problem is intermittent and random. There were no incidents but some close calls. Calls to customer service say there is an active recall on my vehicle.

First, DOOR LATCHES: Manufacturer Recall Number 20S3 & NHTSA Recall Number 20V331. And second, REAR VIEW CAMERA: Ford Recall Number 22S06 & NHTSA Recall Number 22V082.

Door unlatches while on highway. Incident has been occurring sporadically during my husbands commute to work. However we both drove vehicle out of town on 5 hour road trip and it unlatched 4 times on 4/15/23 and 1 time on 4/16/23. Vendor says this VIN is not covered by recall for same issue. Online forum suggests this is happening to other owners for several model years of similar mustang convertibles

There is a recall for fuel odor on build dates 9/14-10/14 due to a failed fuel line sensor. My vehicle has a build date of 8/14 and is experiencing the same issue but not covered under the recall, which is a heavy fuel odor after putting gas in. Any amount of fuel put in has a severe odor, it doesn't have to be filled.

My vehicle is often showing a "service Advancetrac" warning, another warning that the hill start assist is disabled, and simultaneously the antilock brake warning light and the seatbelt warning light on the dashboard will light up. When this happens, the traction control shuts down and steering becomes more difficult. It seems to be a sensor malfunction or a problem with the powertrain control module, which would be consistent with NHTSA campaign no. 22V382, which was issued for newer model Mustangs.

The doors on both passenger and drivers side keep unlatching while driving. it happens quite often, 4 times this week on one 200 miles trip. I took it to the dealer who said the locking mechanisms were faulty. The dealer replaced both of them $1200.00. My question is: there was a recall on this problem involving several years including 2015. But my car was not included even though it obviously has the same problem. Is there anything that can be done to cover an obvious safety hazard?

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Connecting rod in the engine. The car is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was traveling on a major highway at highway speeds when the engine failed. Luckily there was a wide shoulder on the section of highway I was traveling on. I could not make it to the nearest exit less than a mile away. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes a Ford Dealership Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning messages. I checked every gauge in my car when I began to lose power, and every gauge said it was within normal range. There were no earlier symptoms, and I have been told by the dealership that this is a mechanical defect.

While driving my 2015 Ford Mustang 70 mph, my passenger side door opened. I had to reach across to pull it closed and nearly lost control of my vehicle. If I had lost control of my vehicle, other motorists would have been harmed. This has happened multiple times since owning the vehicle. I took it to Ford to get it looked at & found out there were 3 safety recalls; 20S30, 15S16, & 16S30. These recalls were supposed to inspect and fix a defective door latch. If it isn’t fixed, there is potential for the door to unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. This recall affected 2.15 million Ford vehicles. These include the 15 Ford Mustang, 2013-2015 Ford C Max, 2013-2015 FordEscape, 2012-2015 Ford Focus, 2015 Lincoln MKC, & 2014-2016 Ford Transit Connect I spoke with the Ford Service center in Clearwater, FL on June 9th, 2022. They inspected the door latch and stated that it needed to be changed. This defective latch should have been fixed in the previous recall. They only checked the part number. If it wasn’t a certain part number, they marked it as passing and potentially putting thousands or even millions of unsafe vehicles back on the road. My vehicle has a defective door latch and should have been replaced! Ford basically lied to the NHTSA and put millions of drivers at risk on the roads. I contacted Ford Customer Support and asked them to rectify this since it was missed they basically rushed me off the phone and told me to fix it on my own. I’m appalled that Ford

Reading these

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
