The ac on my mustang has gone out 3 times causing my windshield to fog up and making it very hard to see through. From my understanding Ford already knows about this problem and the defective ac compressor and evap. I have been having problems with the ac since 20 thousand miles. I also have oil leaking onto my driver side floorboard from a bad master slave cylinder. This also started around 20 thousand miles and Ford did not want to warranty it even though the car was still under manufacture warranty. They said that it doesn’t fall under power tran warranty which does not make sense. This makes it unsafe to drive when your foot becomes slippery from oil. I also have rust all over my hood that Ford did not want to cover under their 5 year paint warranty. Very disappointed by Ford and the low quality product they knowingly put out.
Evap Core has a small leak, which Ford is aware of being defective…. this causes a small leak of Freon/Refrigerant to enter the cabin thru the a/c vents in the vehicle while driving and can cause some dizziness and you can loose focus and can cause an accident.
Back in 2019 I took my car to Legacy Ford in McDonough Georgia to get the recall issue for my door fixed. Someone told my husband that it was fixed. I'm riding in my jobs parking lot and the door fly's open. The door will not close. When I called Legacy the guy was not concerned and told me that the recall issue was not fixed. He told me that I could bring my car in on Monday. I have to work and need the issue resolved. I will be contacting an attorney on this.
My break light switch pad is broken and is causing the car to not maintain speed and sluggish acceleration. I have seen other drivers report the same failure with their cars.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while reversing, the back over prevention camera was inoperable. The contact stated that the screen was completely black and showed nothing on the display. The contact stated that at the time of failure there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he researched and repaired the camera himself. The contact stated that the dealer should replace the harness, as there was a recall however, the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger's side seat belt and air bag warning lights were illuminated, while there was no passenger occupying the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a faulty Occupant Classification Module (OCM) sensor. The dealer informed the contact that the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000. Contact Additional comments: The seat belt and air bag warning lights will turn on randomly and at all different speeds. There seems to be no correleation when the sensor decides to fail. Richmond Ford West said they had never seen this failure before. They advised that if their was a person in the passenger seat, the lights were illuminated (sensor not working) and the car was to get into a crash, the airbags would not go off. Current, I only drive the car alone. I talked to Ford Customer Service about this clear safety issue and concern, they said they would not offer any help in the repair and it would cost $2000 ($1600 for the part and $400) for the labor. This appears to be a very rare, but significant safety issue for the car for a part to randomly fail through no fault of the owner.
Canister purge valve malfunction stuck in an open position. If this occurs, an excessive vacuum in the fuel system could cause deformation of the vehicle’s plastic fuel tank. Indicator light check engine with fluctuating or inaccurate fuel levels. This could lead to a stall while driving and/or an inability to restart the vehicle, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Brought in for service. Ford found Swollen distorted lug bolts. Could not rotate tires. Potential safety issue. All need to be replaced.
While on vacation (my car was at home) a piece in my brakes broke and caused my break lights to be on constantly. When I tried starting my car the battery was dead. The break likes being on like they were ended up causing my battery to corrode by time I got home from the continuous energy drain. I was able to jumpstart my car but when I went to put my car in drive the vehicle would not accelerate over pretty much idling. When I got my car towed to the dealership (Gary Yeoman's) they told me the break bumper disintegrated and caused my break lights to be on and a vehicle acceleration override to be engaged.
The backup camera on my 2015 Mustang has been repaired twice and continues to fail to work. The wiring harness for the camera in the trunk lid, was repaired once under warranty and again at my expense. On both occasions it worked briefly and failed. It still does nor work. I see there are many complaints about this problem and there is currently a recall. I have not heard from Ford
1. Trunk would not open. (We had to get this fixed so we got it fixed.) The wiring to the trunk was broken. Without a trunk that opens the convertible is pretty useless for anything but driving. Luckily we didn't have groceries inside when it stopped opening. I did call the FORD dealership (the 1st one) and was told to use the key to get it to open through the seats. The wiring was broken. Thank GOD no child had gotten in there! 2. 3rd Brake Light was not working. (We had to get this fixed so we got it fixed.) This is a hazard with a lower car. Other cars don't see you stopping without this feature. 3rd Brake light is also on that wiring harness and was fixed at the 2nd dealership. 3. Back-Up camera stopped working. (We wanted to get this fixed however, the cost was more than we had at the time.) It needs to be working. A person can see behind to back up. This is a safety issue for certain! We were told we would need to get another camera as it was also on the same wiring. This is a problem for backing up with a convertible that has a small window. If the top is down in good weather I can see, however,..there is more driving done with the top up. 4. We also have had a problem with our heated/cooled seats. We were they were not on the same wiring. But, could be fixed for $$$. This was started last spring/summer. (2021) We have written FORD MOTOR Co. and they said there weren't problems with any of these items and they wouldn't be fixing them. Yes, there is a problem with them
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a fuel odor would emit throughout her vehicle as the check engine warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that her vehicle would hesitate up the depression of the accelerator pedal. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed her that there was an issue with the fuel tank. The contact then took the vehicle to another independent mechanic who discovered a fuel leak coming from the fuel tank; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the source of the leak. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V339000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact then called the dealer and the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred her to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
There is a circular pin in the brake pedal that interacts with the brake switch sensor that basically disintegrated. Not having this part does not allow me to brake properly and caused me to get into an accident and would not allow my car to accelerate properly. Also, without this part the car will not turn off. The dealership told me that they had never seen this issue; however, I have found many incidents on the internet where this is a common problem in Ford vehicles. There were no warnings at all.
The aluminum top part of my wheel lug nuts rounded off and had to be replaced.
The rear backup camera will periodically fail and not show what is behind the vehicle while backing up. The backup camera monitor will receive a message that states contact the dealer for repair. This is similar to the same recall notice I received for my 2020 Ford Mustang GT, yet I have never received notification of a recall for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. I reported this same issue to my Ford Dealer when I purchased my 2020 Ford Mustang GT. The lack of a back camera resulted in a collision in a parking lot while driving the 2015 Ford Mustang GT because the other driver was out of my line of sight while I was backing out of a parking space, resulting in a collision.
This car has been in the shop and repaired almost every year since purchase for the same part/problem. The evaporator assembly has been completely replaced twice. The first time was 6 months after purchase and only 9000 miles on the car. The most recent time this part has went out, 11/23/2021, the cabin filled with smoke while I was driving. Smelled like a camp fire so I was concerned the car was on fire. I believe if I hadn’t pulled over, the car would’ve been engulfed in flames with me inside. This is a definite safety concern, and wonder why there has been no recall on this part. Especially if the car can actually catch fire. No check engine or warning lights appeared. Just a cabin full of smoke. Ford is now saying it’s the evaporator assembly, again, and it will cost $2600 to fix. I feel this should’ve been fixed the first time. This is an ongoing problem with this car from what I’ve read and believe Ford needs to do something about it. How many lives should it cost? Mine is worth more then $2600. Should be an easy fix for a multi billion dollar company!!!
As I was driving on the freeway, out of nowhere my car started losing gas power which almost caused me to get rear ended. Later on that night I almost lost full control of the car when it lost power since I started swerving. through out the night it continued to lose power and then the "hill side assistance" light came on notifying me that it was not available/functioning and my break lights would not turn off at all, even when the car was off and locked. I took it to the dealer and they could not find the problem. Then I took it the a mechanic which he was able to temporarily fix it but it was not a permanent fix. we had to create the part, as the ford company did not have it anywhere. If I would have been on the street I would have lost control and who knows if a pedestrian could have been walking, It could have ended tragic. this is something that needs to be review and fix by ford company. This is a severe safety issues, it seems not only my car is having the same issue but other ford mustangs as well. Since the dealer did not have that small piece, they attempted to sale me the entire part which was $500. not every one can afford the entire part, and for a small piece which should cost no more than $20 that can cause injuries should not be ignored.
Brake switch pad on the break pedal failed and fell out
Driving in town when the front passenger window began to continually drop about half inch and close again. When I got onto the highway the front passenger door unlatched and the 'door open' alert displayed. This happened several times during one driving trip. I stop and reclose the door and take off again. This has happened several times during different driving trips. In the meantime the window continues to go up and down. That tells me that the door in not latching properly. My VIN number does not appear to be included in the 20V331000 2015 ford mustang recall dated 2020-06-07 as I have not received a recall letter from ford.
Traveling on highway using cruise control at posted speed limit. Approached slowdown due to accident and applied brakes. Accelerated to limit (manually) after passing accident. I was in middle lane. Vehicle abruptly began to decelerate. Continuous pressure on gas pedal did not increase speed, so I put on hazards and moved to slow lane. No failures on dashboard and quick scan through gages did not identify an issue. Re-applied pressure to gas pedal wanting to get to next exit. Car sped up, but when approaching 50 mph, it decreased again. Found that pumping gas would allow me to maintain highway speed. Pulled into truck stop at exit and turned car off. Message on console "Hill start assist not available". Let vehicle rest 15 minutes, added gas. Quick web search seemed to point to problem with ABS sensor. Seemed to drive ok in parking lot and road leading to highway ramp. Decided to try to get closer to home. Problem occurs immediately after climbing to 50 mph. Cruise control won't work. By carefully monitoring speed and pumping gas into overdrive when needed, I was able to get home. Could not get appointment with dealership until late afternoon next day. Hill start assist message comes on again when stopping. After arriving home and parking in garage I went inside for about 30 minutes. Needed to unload items from car and went back to garage noticing that the strip of lights above trunk are still on. Got back in car, started it (got hill assist message), turned lights on/off and
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the front driver’s and passenger’s side doors opened inadvertently. The contact slowed down the vehicle and was able to close the front driver’s side door. The driver then pulled over and closed the front passenger’s side door. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair however after the dealer inspected the latch date codes, the dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer did not approve the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the latch date codes were deemed safe in their system and no further action was required. The failure mileage was approximately 45,800.
AC stopped working, evaporator coil was leaking, it is located under dash so repair requires excessive labor charge. cost was $2500 for a $100 part. Online there are many reports of this deflective part. My car was out of warranty so I had to bear the entire price. this is not fair.
I was driving on Interstate-95 in Washington, DC going about 55 mph in heavy traffic. Without warning my car lost acceleration and the car almost immediately slowed to approximately 35 mph, despite my foot still being on the accelerator--pushing on the accelerator did nothing. Then after several seconds, the car sped up again, but when I reached around 40 mph, the car lost acceleration again for several seconds. It kept doing this over the course of my entire trip, which was about 5 miles. I had to pull in the shoulder lane driving with my hazards flashing. After I parked my car and turned it off, I noticed my brake lights were still on. I googled the issue, and the source of the problem is a faulty transluscent plastic/rubber brake switch stop pad (that is connected to the brake pedal and when the brake is released the brake switch stop pad pushes in the brakeswitch turning off the brake lights), which broke during my trip. I found the broken pieces on my floorboard (i took a photo of them and kept them). Because the car senses that the brakes are still being applied it cuts power to the accelerator. This was highly dangerous on the interstate and it broke with no warning. Fortunately, it didn't cause an accident. While reviewing the fix (Ford doesn't sell the replacement part; instead they want you to replace the entire brake pedal for about $500) on a Mustang Owner Forum, numerous people echoed the same problem with many having it occur while driving. The fix involves buyi
The Aluminum cast Crossmember that supports the transmission is cracked and split in several places .Shifting and or jumping in or out of gear .The dealer wanted $800.00 dollars to replace a $132. part That is hard to find in the marketplace ,because of others buying these faulty parts up ! No warning signs except hard to shift , cracked part was found by Benson ford in Easley S.C. The car has less than 70,000 miles on it . No warnings whatsoever !
Cheap plastic disk between the brake pedal assembly and the plumber rod that should only control lights dried up and broke off. This issue has been reported many times and you have not handled it properly. Not only do the brake lights come on but the uphill traction control goes crazy and the vehicle begins to lose power without notice. This could result in an accident and death as the car could be on a highway and suddenly lose power. Ford doesn't offer a replacement part for this. Other car manufactures have a similar plastic part. Fords solution is to spend nearly $1000 for a > $10 item. This needs to be taken more seriously than some of your other recall items you report.
Fuel line. There is a sensor that comes on when you put fuel in the vehicle. I think it has to do with the vapor line from past Ford recalls on mustangs.
Brake light switch pad broke , So the car thinks the brakes are on so it goes into "limp mode" and it starts turning off assist modes.
The issue is the Brake Light switch stop pad on the brake pedal which is a rubber type of plug. At 70,000 miles the brake light switch stop pad cracked and fell into floor board (see pictures). When that happened, the RPMs dropped to idle speed and the car slowed down. After a few seconds, the car would pick up speed again only to repeat the event over and over again. I understand that when the brake light switch stop pad is missing and the plunger on the switch is fully out, the car thinks that you are applying the brakes. I was lucky, I was on a two lane road with no traffic, but I was headed to an inter-state with heavy traffic. Ford (nor does anyone else) does not sell just the rubber plug which fits on the brake pedal, but it will sell the complete brake pedal assembly. Not sure the reason that the brake pedal would require the hole that requires the rubber plug, but think that Ford should be responsible for the replacement or a better solution for the repair (Provide a replacement plug, not just the complete Brake pedal assembly. Thank you for you time in this matter. Brake pedal pad failed, causing car to suddenly brake even though brakes were not being applied. Ford Dealership recommended replacing brake light switch assembly. Brake lights stayed on even after the car was turned off. Had to disconnect the battery to prevent drain.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the passenger’s side door opened inadvertently. The dealer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
I'm on highway going 70mph and all the sudden my car slows down drastically to about 35mph and won't accelerate any higher. I almost caused an accident. After I got home I also noticed my brake lights would not go off, even after the car was off for a bit. I had to undo the battery.
The mustang has a problem with its HVAC system. The A/C needs to be serviced constantly making the reliability of these cars come into question. These are conveniences every driver needs in their car. I'm going to return my 2015 in 1 year for a car with a reliable AC unit. A Toyota or honda
Door latches become undone as I drive causing the doors to open. This happens often and happened when I first bought the vehicle in 2017
The driver's side window will go up and down constantly when vehicle is turned off on my 2015 Mustang GT, so annoying and scary, hate for someones fingers to get caught in it, I can role them down and back up a million times and it still does it, I even open and shut the door multiple times, but still does it! Not sure what the insurance company would say about it if I told them. Maybe something to do with the lock, sensor, security system. When window is slighly down, it could be at risk for theft. (and Ford, lets not even dicuss your Shi**y paint job!)
While driving and pressing on accelerator pedal car slows down without pressing the gas as if the car is about to turn off. This is a very dangerous hazard as I am in the middle of a highway which can cause an accident if it does turn ofd. I noticed that the brake lights are on 24 hours a day whether the vehicle is off or on , this could be the issue, something is either jammed in the engine system or the brakes sensors are messed up and are not telling the rest of the car that the car is on and moving. There is no messages that are telling me inside the mustang that something is wrong with my car . I have had my car 6 years and this is the first time I see this happening.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 60-65 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000. The Vin was not available.
Recently, the camera on my 2015 Mustang has not been connecting regularly. The display will occasionally say the camera is not available, contact dealership. In researching it appears that the wiring to the camera and other associated trunk area lighting can be cut or worn through, creating a defective and potentially dangerous situation. The videos and comment sites are abundant with this issue. During my research, I noticed that there is a huge, nearly identical recall in place for 2020 vehicles. I suspect this is the same issue. The issue is not just happening in Mustangs. Other vehicles where the wiring is sheathed in a certain way or subject to movement can show the same issue.
The trunk opens while driving. It opens without warning and not every time. Also the trunk may or may not open when using the key fob, button inside or outside.
The information was not on the vehicle other than the vin. I called Purvis Ford in Fredericksburg, VA and was told the inspection to find the information was not free as it said in the recall notice. I must pay a tech service fee for them to inspect the car doors for the recall information. I said fine I would like to make an appointment for the inspection. The appointment given was for October 26, 2021 as this was the soonest they could get me in. I did not make the appointment as they clearly did not want my business.
Plastic clip for brake light switch disintegrates over time, causing reduced power and inoperative brake lights.
Bolt at the back of the engine rattled loose and scarred the torque converter, flexplate, bell housing of the transmission, and the block of the engine.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the door latches functioned as needed and did not need to be replaced. The recall designation was then removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was returned to the contact. A few months later, the contact stated that the passenger’s door started to rattle and independently opened while driving without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was no longer under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the recall and the contact was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Hi, I recently noticed my driver side door or not aligned with the body. And when I went to your website after noticing I found out that there was a recall issued on this situation. I think it’s the door hinges. Please let me know as what should be my next step as this doesn’t sound safe. Thanks [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The brake light switch function was inhibited due to the plastic retainer mounted on the pedal assembly. The plastic retainer had become brittle and caused it to come apart in pieces. The retainer acts a point of contact for the brake light switch plunger which signals to the ECM when the driver is applying or not applying the brakes. Symptoms of failure are constant illumination of rear brake lights with vehicle on or off. Disables cruise control. Also most importantly it limits throttle control by reducing throttle range spraticly. No driver warnings or lights are displayed or illuminated on the IPC. Problem has been verified and reproduced by independent service center.
Air conditioning & cooled seats no longer work. Only hot air blows. The car just barely has 28K miles. This has happened to multiple mustangs w low mileage.
A NON-CONDUCTIVE PAD IS INSTALLED BETWEEN THE BRAKE SENSOR SWITCH AND BRAKE ARM. THE PAD BECOMES BRITTLE OVER TIME AND BREAKS ALLOWING THE BRAKE SENSOR TO ENGAGE. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO GO INTO 'LIMP' MODE WHICH CAN OCCUR WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT OCCURS RANDOMLY AND CAN HAPPEN AT HIGH SPEEDS.
BREAK SWITCH PAD IS REALLY EASY TO BREAK. BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON AFTER CAR IS STOPPED AND IN PARK AND CUT OFF. WHILE DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS GET NO POWER TO SPEED UP AND WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS NOTHING.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
