Started to develop a rumble/stumble upon acceleration. It seems to be getting worse. Finally took it in the dealer. The dealer confirmed that it is the CV axles. They need replacing. Dealer said no parts in stock and not sure when they will arrive. WTH. I asked about driving and they said keep on motoring. What. How can this be good for all the other connected parts! It shutters so bad I am not confident it will not cause me to have an accident. This is a major issue with the drive-line components. Ford needs to issue a recall and redesign this part or I will be replacing these again at my cost. I only have 39k milage

Loss of motive control ongoing issue. This is documented problem being investigated by NTHSA, R2Q4014. Functional issue: • Engine flips into Neutral unexpectedly. Vehicle coasts to a stop, where it flips into Park on its own. • Vehicle requires a restart to move gear out of Neutral. After restarting vehicle, vehicle can operate on limited power that maxes out at about 35 mph. Acceleration is dramatically reduced, gradually ramping up as the vehicle continues to drive — the acceleration pedal does not control speed. Coming to a complete stop while driving with the vehicle in this reduced power mode requires another gradual ramp up to speed, making typical street driving difficult because it may take 30-45 seconds for the vehicle to ramp up to adequate speed (ramp from zero to 35mph), frustrating other drivers behind he vehicle who may think the slow speed is intentional. • After the vehicle has sat powered down for a number of minutes, it can be started up again at full power. I have seen this refractory period as low as 15 minutes and as high at 45-ish minutes. This issue has happened to me multiple times, 9 as of last count. Ford has attempted a fix twice now, and the issue persists. I would be happy to discuss full experience and how Ford has responded, or rather not responded, with your investigative team. Thank you for looking into this issue.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Maverick. The contact stated that on some occasions when the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal odor of overcharged battery in the cabin of the vehicle. The contact also stated on several occasions, the odor made his eyes swell with tears, especially in the hotter months of the year. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the failure could not be replicated; however, the mechanic observed the same odor of the overcharged battery. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and was advised that the odor was normal. The contact stated that manufacturer had stated that only two instances were reported and there would be no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 24,500.

On 1028/24, driving at approximately 55 mph in the right lane of a local highway, the front collision braking system engaged almost totally stopping my vehicle. There were no vehicles, animals, nor pedestrians in front of my vehicle. I was able to pull to the shoulder. The collection detection icon appeared on the screen, as well as the check engine light, and the wrench. Then a message saying collision warning system unavailable, then service vehicle immediately. The drive gear dial remained in drive (D) position and was flashing. From there, with my warning light activated, I was able to get the vehicle to go up to 25 mph in order to drive to the Ford dealership nearby. I was told by the service department that they operate on appointments only, I would "try to look at it soon." The Ford Pass App states a powertrain malfunction, pre-collision assist not available, and service engine soon warning. Even if the system resets itself when vehicle turned back on, it is totally unsafe to drive in traffic not knowing if these systems will unexpected fail again, causing an accident and injury. I understand that this problem has occurred with other drivers on this model in the recent past.

Vehicle was travelling on freeway at freeway speeds suddenly without notable cause the vehicle electrical stopped, giving multiple warning in succession, cutting speed rapidly to 35 mph, with no acceleration pedal response and an automatic speed of 35 on battery power with the ability to break, but with no control of speed and only regulated by break pedal. Pulled vehicle to side of road and put in park, parking break automatically engaged. Vehicle had alarms on all automatic systems being off. Turning vehicle on and off did not effect response. After checking engine visually, was able to turn vehicle on with no alarms or issues. This has happened in both my Mavericks and almost led to a fatal collision in the 2022 Maverick.

The vehicle shakes during acceleration, specifically in the 40mph-65mph range. The shaking is worst around 55-60mph, especially—but not exclusively—when accelerating from a stop. The shaking does not occur at these speeds while coasting; acceleration prompts the issue. This is a known problem among 2022 Maverick owners, according to online forums including Maverick Truck Club, Reddit, and influencers on YouTube. Drivers widely report that the CV Axle is the culprit here, and report that replacing the CV Axle alleviates the shaking.

I have just recently bought a brand new truck, a hybrid model. Not a single mile on it when I purchased it, and I strongly feel that I almost died or caused an accident, completely not my fault but the truck’s fault. This has happened on 3 separate occasions. The first two times, as I was driving up the highway on a mountain road, I lost power, but just kind of chalked it up to maybe the fuel sloshing around, and no other vehicles were around me. The third time, I was returning home from work, on a busy 4-lane highway that goes across the pass and over the mountains, I was in the left lane, a semi truck was to my right, and a semi truck was behind me, we were passing the slower truck that was on the right, and I was traveling at around 55 mph, the truck completely shut off and was flashing red at me to pull to the side of the road. I lost all power, the steering, gas, and everything was not working. I need to mention that I was in front of semi truck, a larger truck that cannot stop on a dime, so he had to swerve to miss me, as I did not have control of the truck. The slower truck went by me and there was a another pickup truck behind him, and there was a little bit of a gap between them, so I jerked the wheel over and drove into the ditch. It was absolutely frightening, and kind of switched something in my head that I was very close to causing a large crash and maybe a death, of myself or someone else. I was in the ditch and the truck would not start back up. Nothing worked.

Note: Nobody was hurt, I am pre-emptively reporting this as I see it as a potentially dangerous issue. Transmission can jump/nudge the car a bit, especially in cold starts and if the engine is under load (e.g. AC or Heat). I've seen it online in Reddit reported, but mine seems to be a fairly strong version of it. It occurs pretty much every time the engine is cold. As I learned in a trip, if you don't press the brake hard enough, it can move. We did a road trip. I was stopped at a light (fully stopped). Brakes were pressed hard enough to not move, but not 'to the floor'. The vehicle jumped and moved about a foot into the crosswalk when I was stopped properly before then. Freaked me out. Nobody was in the crosswalk, so thankfully nobody was hurt. But this could be very dangerous behavior in a city where there are a lot a people. A surprising lurch when you think it's stopped isn't safe, and is going to create a liability for me. Me living near a big city, it's a worry. I've already brought it to a dealer about this, they said 'it's normal for mavericks' after investigating it for 25 days. I will re-raise this with them, but am not expecting much. I ran the truck with a diagnostic tool I own, no codes thrown through the bus, no warning lights during the event either. Saturday [XXX] I was driving on the [XXX] in SW PA and as I attempted to accelerate there was no power. I looked down at my transmission dial and it was set in neutral. I rolled the dial back to drive and pushed the gas and was able to accelerate. This is the 5th TIME this has happened in this vehicle 3 while driving on the Interstate, 2 while accelerating after a stop. Apparently there is a fix for this, recall 23V330/24S33 . I have been working with a local ford dealer to rectify the situation but it has not been resolved. I guess they updated most of the modules in my truck hoping to unlock a TCM update to preform the correct recall but it didn't work so they can not do the correct update to fix this problem. There are/were no warning lights or errors that popped up. When I am coming to a stop (last couple seconds of slowing) I will often feel like there is suddenly no brakes, then a harsh braking suddenly. There has not been an incident where this has resulted in an accident, but it makes me feel like I don't have control of the vehicle if I can't anticipate braking behavior on perfectly dry, smooth surfaces. This would be compounded if there were wet or otherwise slippery/rough conditions.

On 7/27/24 I was driving my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid with approximately 17,500 miles on the New York State Thruway @ approximately 70 mph. All of a sudden without warning the vehicle lost propulsion power. All types of warning lights appeared on the dashboard and the vehicle slowed down to 35mph. I could not control the acceleration or speed of the vehicle with the gas pedal. The vehicle stayed at 35 mph unless I applied the brakes. I was able to exit the interstate several miles down the road and have the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealer. This vehicle malfunction caused an extremely dangerous situation as I was almost rear ended several times by vehicles approaching from the rear that were not aware of my lack of ability to keep up with the flow of traffic. Ford repaired the vehicle 3 days later. When I was at the dealer picking up the car I was informed this is a very common problem with the Hybrid model. This needs to be corrected before someone is killed because of this common malfunction.

May 25, 2024 I was driving north on a 2 lane road at about 50 mph. No other vehicles around. Passed a pedestrian walking SB on the opposite shoulder and shortly thereafter my collision assist startled me when it activated fully locking my seat belt and applying the brakes. Only "obstacle" was a very large dark shadow cast over the roadway by a stand of trees. June 9, 2024 Driving EB on a two lane highway, about 55 mph, approaching an intersection with a vehicle stopped at a red light on the south side of the intersection. Pre-collision assist activated again, slamming on the brakes, throwing me and my passenger forcefully forward into our locked seat belts. Scared us both, as there were no obstacles in our path. Thankfully no one was behind us, so we avoided a rear end collision. I have since deactivated the automatic emergency braking, because I no longer trust it will operate correctly and I don't want to be rear ended and/or sustain whiplash or other injuries because of erroneous activation of a "safety" system.

I have a 2023 For Maverick hybrid pickup. While driving on the highway at about 70-75 miles an hour, the engine abruptly shut off. I had to carefully make my way to the shoulder while cars zipped by. Scary and very unsafe. My wife was hysterical and does not want to ride in the truck anymore. Once stopped at shoulder, I turned the ignition to the off and on positions several times. The gas engine would not crank. Three or four messages scrolled on the screen: "Service engine immediately," "Pre-collision assist not available," and others I don't exactly remember. When I would turn the ignition to on, the electric engine would start but when I accelerated in Park, the gas engine did not accelerate, not did it work in Reverse, Neutral or Drive. I was able to limp off the highway about 30 miles and hour under what I presume was electric battery power with my hazard flashers on and park at a gas station. I had to have the truck towed to the dealer on a Saturday night at a cost of $400.00 and leave it for repairs. The Service Department told me the truck was not giving any error codes and they were trying to get further guidance from Ford. They required extensive driving and time to input and test Ford updates. The final result was that they were not able to verify any issues after performing additional PCM updates. I was advised they are all done and will deliver the truck tomorrow Wednesday. However, they still don't know what caused the power failure. I have seen numerous simila

I believe this incident occurred on June 25th (though it might have been the 24th or 26th). I left work shortly after 5:00 pm and was driving around a roundabout. I was going slowly, lightly tapping the gas pedal to maintain a speed between 10-15 mph. During one of these light taps, my truck gave an audible alert and the brakes engaged suddenly for a split second. I immediately took my foot off the gas pedal. The alert and chime stopped, and I continued driving normally. I'm fairly sure some kind of alert appeared on the instrument panel cluster, but it happened and disappeared so quickly that I couldn't see anything clearly. It all happened in the blink of an eye. The brakes engaged and released so rapidly that I tried to recreate the event using the brake pedal to ensure my foot wasn't on it by mistake. However, the brakes did not engage as quickly or abruptly during my attempts. I am certain my foot was on the gas pedal, not the brake. The gas pedal has a lighter, bouncy feel, while the brake pedal requires more pressure. And I remember a light touch causing this issue. When this incident occurred, I am confident that the light taps on the gas pedal to maintain a low speed triggered the issue. I drove home without any further problems, and this has not happened since. I also want to mention that my truck had previously gone into limp mode suddenly, but I had that recall issue fixed shortly afterward.

The vehicle went into drive and i to got it off the highway. It was in limp mode after that. I tried turning the vehicle off and on several times, and to no prevail. I called a tow truck to have them take it to the dealership. Keep in mind that this happened so fast and I was more worried about getting out of the way to avoid a collision. To hear that this is a recall is ridiculous. I drive with kids in the backseat, and I will never feel comfortable driving this vehicle again! I waited 9 months to get the maverick and I've had nothing but issues. Under 5k miles, I had a code pop up saying they detected air in the engine compartment. I was on the road trip to Canada at the time. I spent my vacation worrying if I was going to make it home. Luckily I did and it needed an "update". 2 other times, my left blinker failed. When it failed, my hazard lights would go off. Zumbrota ford "fixed" it the first time. Only for it to happen a month later. The CV drive shift on either the driver side or passenger side of tbe hybrid model is going bad prematurely, currently at 20,000 miles but multiple other Maverick Hybrid owners have experienced the same issues and this is a safety risk as it could break while driving and cause an accident. It has not happened to me yet, as I'm not driving it until it can get fixed by the dealership but it's a concern I think ford needs to address, especially because most dealerships don't have vehicle loaners that customers can use unless they are willing to wait an extended period of time and their only option may be is continue to drive the unsafe vehicle or rent a car if they don't have a second vehicle.

My driver side door hinge has a broken spot weld and has come unattached from the door and it goes inside and blocks the power window from coming down when the door is closed. Ford has had these breaking hinge problems since 2019. I took it to the Ford dealership for them to look at the problem and they want me to pay for it. I have attached pictures. As of October 2023, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is investigating a potential defect in the front door weld of the 2020 and 2021 Ford Escape and its hybrid variant. This defect could cause the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving, which is a significant safety risk. Some owners have reported a popping noise followed by the door opening, while others have reported their doors not opening at all after a creaking noise. Some owners have also reported being unable to close the vehicle after the door opens. If the issue requires a recall, it could affect up to 346,071 vehicles.

When the truck has been put back into gear it will accelerate on its own but only up to 35 MPH no matter how much gas is applied. This is the second time this has happened both were identical. After sitting overnight with the truck off the issue goes away temporarily but will come back with no warning. Vehicle may be inspected. I looked down and the shift wheel was in the drive position, but the orange light was not lit on the shifter. I then got error messages, Service Engine Soon Warning, Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power Warning, Pre-Collision Assist Not Available Warning. This was really rattling, to have a modern vehicle, with only 20,000 miles stop operating in heavy traffic. It is the second time, this incident happens. The last time was on March 25th.

My vehicle stopped while driving down the road. I received the following errors: Gear Selected Will Engage at Low Speed Powertrain malfunction/reduced power Pre-collision assist not available Service engine soon warning Service AdvanceTrac Hill assist not available I was able to pull my vehicle off the road and get it parked. After letting it sit, I was able to get my vehicle started with only an engine light error. I attempted to take my vehicle to Anderson Ford in Rockford and they were confrontational. I just wanted to leave my vehicle and get a loaner, but they wouldn't confirm an issue and told me to leave my vehicle and fend for myself. They must know there's an issue and they want nothing to do with fixing the issue. They were willing to put me at risk instead of trying to help.

Vehicle Speed Control

On Friday, May 17th around 2:00pm I was driving approximately 25mph when I got an abrupt warning and the truck started to drive differently. I don’t think the vehicle was responding to the gas pedal normally. The first warning said something about selected gear engaging at lower speed. Then there was a message about the pre-collision assist not working, hill ascent not working, and something else - reduced powertrain/service engine soon/advancetrac or something like that. As I pulled over and was slowing down, the truck abruptly threw itself into park while going 5-10mph. I turned it off and then back on and put it in drive. The truck began accelerating without my foot on the gas pedal. My truck got all the way up past 20mph before I slowed down. I tried to record this with my phone as there was no traffic. I could not see well what I was filming because I was looking at the road. My safety was put at risk because had this happened on the highway or a road with no shoulder, things could have been a lot more dangerous. It was scary enough going at a lower speed on a street without traffic. I noticed after this happened that I had a third open recall for the powertrain control module. If I would have known I had this recall and how serious it was, I would have brought it in immediately. Ford should have done more to ensure vehicles impacted by this recall were contacted ASAP. I brought my truck in to the Ford dealership first thing this morning and I am waiting to hear back. Th

[XXX] On [XXX] my wife and were traveling on [XXX] at interstate speeds and after traveling for about 55 minutes with no issues. The vehicle suddenly lost power and a lot of warning lights came on. We were unable to accelerate and quickly pulled to the shoulder. [XXX] is very busy and dangerous. It would not move forward while in drive and pushed on accelerator it would not accelerate. We called with Ford Pass for a tow. They towed it to Dickson TN Ford dealership and it is still there. They were to call us once they found out the issue. Been there now 6 days no call as yet from them . Very frustrating, vehicle with 16 K miles and only had a bit over a year and now more issues. Vehicle put in drive, and upon accelerating, lost ability to accelerate while in drive, check engine indicator light turned on and power train warning prompts began flashing while moving avoiding traffic. I pulled over to the side of the road, put vehicle in park and turned off vehicle. Waited a minute, and turned vehicle back on, check engine indicator remained on, as well as power train warning prompt and Pre-Collision Warning Assist not available. Put vehicle in drive and could not accelerate normally, acceleration was delayed when I put my foot on the pedal. I removed my foot off of the accelerator and the vehicle then began to accelerate speed on it's own above 25mph. I then applied the brakes and pulled over again. This continued in the same pattern 2 more times, before I was able to drive the vehicle back to my house, with check engine lights and warning prompts on.

11 May 2024, I had started my truck as normal and began driving. About 2 miles from my house I lost all power to the truck. I was driving about 35 MPH when the truck threw up errors on the screen and I could no longer accelerate. It threw on the E Brake abruptly. Luckily no one was behind me as such an abrupt stop could cause a deadly accident. After I shut off the truck and waited 5 minutes and started the truck back up but it had a check engine light. I follow a forum called “ford maverick truck club” where I was made aware of this issue happening to maverick owners after a recall for the tail light. I had this recall preformed. I drove to a fort dealership where they attempted to fix the issue but said there was no remedy and only cleared the codes. I tried to contact ford by chat support to make them aware but they were not interested in me reporting any potential safety problems.

We on the interstate cruising @ 75. Lost all drive power, flashed something about a lower gear while I was making my way to the shoulder. When I got down to about 10 mph, the parking brake activated. When we came to a stop, it went into park, but the "P" was flashing. I couldn't disengage the brake or put it into gear . I turned it off and back on and was able to shift into drive and release the brake. It would move at this point, but it very slowly. We limped to the next exit. I turned it off and topped the tank off( had half tank) Then it started and was able to drive the other 170 miles home. CEL stayed on. Our concern is that this will happen again, cause an accident and injure or kill my family.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
