2015 Ford Fusion complaints

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The message "Transmission Not in Park" was illuminated. The contact also stated he was unable to move the gear shifter to shift gears. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the shifter cable had detached. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V362000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall for the steering wheel attachment bolt failure. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and making a turn, the steering wheel inadvertently locked. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the rack and pinion steering had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 176,000. The VIN was unavailable.

A few weeks ago, the Passenger Sun Vizor in my 2015 fusion suddenly came part. I have attached photos of the current condition. There is no change in handling as I have just used this as a support for the dashboard sunshade as a protection from the hot Arizona Sun. Currently the Vizor is hanging by its wire (Please see photos) and presents a big Safety risk from a visibility and handling standpoint (since its just suspending by itself). When I contacted Ford (via Twitter), they asked me to take it to a dealer to have it checked. Dealer is asking for $159 inspection fee which is absolutely ridiculous since a problem like this should be inspected and fixed for me (being a safety issue). I request NHTSA to take action by bringing this to Ford and getting them to review this issue for a possible recall. I would also like my Vizor to be inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

I have a 2015 ford fusion with around 37000miles. But the sealing between air bag and passenger side dashboard are broken. I'm afraid that the air bag might pumped out under normal condition if the cracks are too big. I think it could be quality issue. It could be very dangerous and put our lives at risk. Besides that, there was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I called Ford customer service, they said that it could be their quality problem. However, they won't take the responsibility because they don't have recall for that issue. I think it put mine and my family's lives at risk, and I do need to bring attention.

2015 Ford Fusion SE 1.5L ecoboost While driving I have had loss of engine power posing risk in traffic. I refilled coolant and the misfire in cyl 1 inspired spark plug replacement. The problem recurs and I discover coolant in these engines has (secretly) known defect since 08 leaking into engine. At over 5 years though under 60K mi, Ford will not help / address the problem. Just did 3rd spark plug replacement and googled up the defect. Would love to get (long not short) engine replacement like other models have received with this. Would expect to get al least the reprogramming or other ideas for mitigation help from Ford.

2015 Ford Fusion SE with 99k miles, well maintained and only two owners. Driving car down highway and engine begins to shudder. Pulled over as check engine lights were flashing and engine in critical condition. Had to tow car to nearest Ford delearship which is Maxwell Ford in South Austin, Texas. Ford mechanics determined it was MISS FIRE ON CYLINDER 2 VALVE BROKEN IN CYLINDER HEAD and need complete engine reassembly. Ford quoted $7,871.21 for a new engine block. Car not under warranty and they did not offer to pay. Also charged $238.07 to evac the AC. Reading about hundreds of complaints across carcomplaints (https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2015/engine/engine-2.shtml) as well as the current class action lawsuit that was filed in December 2020 (https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2015/engine/engine-2.shtml).

At approximately 80,000 miles, the abs censor came on, along with three other lights, one of which is traction control. The brakes begin acting out of control and power steering goes out. Mechanic came to look at it and told me that he’s seen a lot of the same problems with Ford vehicles, specifically fusions and fiestas. He told me it’s an ABS sensor in the electrical harness.

The automatic transmission shifter cable, which connects the shifter knob in the cabin of the vehicle to the shifter lever in the engine which controls the gear selection of the engine (drive, neutral, reverse, park, etc.), degraded and became detached while the vehicle was in operation. This led to a situation in which the shifter knob in the cabin in the car became non-functional and the car was stuck in "drive" regardless of how the shifter knob was adjusted. In my specific case, I used the shifter knob to put the car in "park" but the car continued to move forward under engine power unless the brake or parking brake was applied. This created a dangerous situation where it was assumed the car was in "park" mode when in reality the car would still roll forward under it's own power. This is a known issue and existing recall for many Ford Fusions with a 2.5 L engine. My specific trim level (Ford Fusion Titanium) came equipped with a 2.0 L turbocharged engine which is not included in the existing recalls but was produced at the same facilities as the recalled vehicles and experiences the same exact automatic transmission component failure as is covered by the recall on 2.5 L engines. I have had to pay to have this component repaired (~$100) since this incident occurred in order to get the vehicle safe and operational again.

Overheated warning light flashed then went off when car was cooled down for 45 mins and then started right up and no warning light was ever seen again to come on then drove car 30 miles next morn car wouldn't start.checked engine coolant and it was all gone no visible leak.. no warning light Refilled coolant car tried to start and put out white smoke from tailpipe. Car started barely and was rough running again no warning light showing drove car to mechanic and he said car engine was blown .. so looked on different forums and found that the Ford fusion and Ford escape motors the 1.5 liter was a real lemon and the overheat light warning of low coolant or overheating of engine has had problems for several years on these 2 vehicles that had the 1.5 engine in them .. you can no longer buy the 1.5 because they were so terrible that they quit making them is what I'm being told .. I would like this engine to be recalled for all the problems it has given thousands of people

My name is [XXX], My daughter stated that she was driving her 2015 Ford Fusion down the highway, and panicked when the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. She was pushing down on the brakes as hard as she could, and the vehicle would not slow down. Thankfully, by the grace of GOD, the vehicle eventually started slowing. She crept home afterwards. The vehicle is now at Mullinax Ford in Mobile Alabama. The address is 7311 Airport Blvd. Mobile Alabama, 36608. The phone number is 251-261-0238. The vehicle has 80 thousand miles on it. I have kept it in excellent condition due to the fact that I do not want her to breakdown in the middle of the road. However, I never expected that the vehicle would autonomously accelerate and potentially kill her due to a wreck. I am concerned that the vehicle can no longer be trusted. What can be done to resolve the issue? Will the manufacturer pay for the fix? Will the fix be professional, and actually remedy the malfunction? Do I have a legal avenue of approach? Will you please have someone investigate, and rectify. Can my daughter please have a temporary, or permanent replacement? This has been a burden due to the fact that she needs that vehicle to go back and forth to college. She will probably have anxiety driving the fusion if, or when the fusion is returned. I am asking for help. I do not know the system or component that malfunctioned. I do not know if the system has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representativ

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard without warning. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive at low rate of speed with her hazard light activated. As the contact approached her destination, the low brake fluid warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled into a gas station and topped off the brake fluid reservoir however, the brake pedal continued to depress to the floorboard. Once the contact arrived home, she checked the brake fluid level and saw that the reservoir was empty once again. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where she was informed that her vehicle was not under recall and was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was given the same information as the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Since vehicle was purchased in 2014, it has had electrical issue with starting. It has needed a jumpstart at least 50 times and was brought back to the dealer multiple times with no solve. The dealer advised we just need to drive it more to charge the battery. A few weeks ago, the car would not start or shift out of park. A jumpstart was attempted and but the car still would not start. When trying to start the car, the warning chimes were beeping rapidly and the following message cycled on the display: see manual, steering assist fault service required, service AdvanceTrac, low engine oil pressure, engine coolant overtemperature, park brake malfunction service now. The car was towed to a Ford dealer. The dealer advised the battery, starter and alternator were fine. They said the car was fine and it then drove without issue for a couple weeks. A few weeks later while driving, it completely shut off and would not start in a turn lane. The headlights turned off and would not come on. The hazard lights were turned on but only worked on the mirrors, not the front or rear hazard lights. This was extremely dangerous as it was dark out and we were almost hit from behind. The police were called and blocked the vehicle for safety. The tow truck driver was unable to jumpstart the vehicle or get it out of park with a jumpstart power applied but all the displays were working normal so it was not an issue with the battery. The car was being driven 30-40 MPH. There were no warning lights on and no prior issues. Power steering failed preventing the car from being steered. Luckily the road was straight and no cars were around. Car was stopped blocking the lane it was in. If the road was curving or traffic was around a crash would have been unavoidable. At time of failure lights started to flash including the message 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". Car was towed to dealer. Steering gear replaced at a cost of $2,997. Mileage on the car was 53,000 miles

I was in line at a drive thru and my brakes suddenly went to the floor. I was close to home so I drove carefully having to press the brakes all the way to the floor to stop,barely. I did a visual inspection and saw brake fluid coming from my right front brake line. The fluid was everywhere. The dashboard light came on when it happened. Thankfully I was not driving on the highway or this could have been fatal. The car is now 6 years old and I get regular oil changes and inspections along with routine maintenance. I carefully drove it early in the morning to a mechanic close by and it was confirmed that my brake hydraulic hose had ruptured. Mechanic says usually doesn't see happening this early on in car life. I have 75,000 on it. He recommended I replace the other 3 but cannot afford right now. The labor is expensive part. Also. Had to perform a brake bleed and add fluids again and clean up. A little over $400.00 just for that one side. Brake pads themselves are still good. Tires still good. Hope the others don't happen while driving in faster conditions or in traffic. This is dangerous, just hope I am the only one in the car when it does happen. Am planning on saving to fix the other hoses soon. I had zero warning indicators before it occurred. No pops, squeaks, or noises. It was scary, I don't trust my Ford and will not drive further than a close to home range.

Multiple warning lights come off and on while driving. When they come on steering becomes difficult. no one can determine the cause. there have bene multiple reports by others with this same make/model of happening to them and no mechanics nor dealership have been able to identify the cause

The contact's wife continued driving and noticed that the brake pedal went to the floorboard when depressed. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that brake fluid was spraying onto the ground while his wife was depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed that the front driver’s side brake line had ruptured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer awaiting the brake line to arrive. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

On 7/30/2021 I filled up my gas tank at a local Sunoco. After doing so my engine would start and quickly stall. Thinking I may have gotten "bad gas", after several attemts of re-starting my car and while in neutral I reved up the car a few times between 3-4 thousand RPM's to posiibly "blow out" and any water or sediment which at the time I believed was do to the gas, and it ran fine for days and did not stall. I continued to drive the car to work and errunds with no issue, except for about 3 days after gas fill-up when my engine light came on. Although the car ran fine, on Tuesday August 2 2021, I went to local Auto Zone and they ran the diagnostic that indicated a P1450 error which said on the report "Replace Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Purge Control Valve". The following morning August 3rd, I called my Ford Mullinax dealership when they opened at 7:30, and the closest appointment was not until Monday August 16th ! (a quailfied local mechanic said he could not do the work and would actually have to send the car to Ford himself.) On the following day August 4th, I drove the car to work (a 76 mile round trip primarily on the interstate). The car ran fine on the way there and up to a point on the way back, until the engine made a intermittent very loud noise and did so after several times after, until the engine completely and unexpectedly shut down and narrowly missing a very dangerous rear end collision. Safety Recall # 18S20 Shift Cable Bushing was completed by dealer 03/05/2020 during a visit for new tires. There were no symptoms of gear issue at that time. On 7/30/2021 the Shift Cable Bushing (installed per recall) FAILED (less than 15 mths later). After parking car in a parking garage, put the car in "P" Park, the car was turned off, key removed, exited vehicle. The car rolled forward striking the parking garage wall in front of parking spot. Even though the dash & shift indicated the car was in PARK - it was not. No warning on dash. Called AAA that discovered the Shift Cable Bushing was missing causing the Shift Cable to be dislodged. Recall #18S20 was supposed to correct this issue. It did not. The front of my vehicle damaged. Ford redid the recall following day but the car needs auto body work. No response from Ford Corporate, which is in Manila Philippines.

The throttle body failed. Car went into limp mode. I used a code reader to investigate. Code was P211, throttle. Bought a throttle body at Ford dealer, $100.84 total parts with tax and throttle body and gasket. Replaced part and it runs fine so far. I was lucky to have been close to home when it happened. I did not find any recalls for this make model and year but throttle bodies commonly fail on Fords. It happened on July 31, 2021. Car had about 89,500 miles. Bought the car new from Bill Utter Ford in Denton, Texas in 2015.

We bought this car at the end of May 2020. When we bought it it had 48,000 miles on it. We have had this vehicle for 14 month and have religiously kept up on maintenance. Started having issues beginning of July 2021. Today, 7/22/2021 we received notice that the car needs a new engine due coolant leaking into the cylinders. We have only put 17,000 miles on this car. There is absolutely no reason for it to need a new engine.

I have received a message on my dashboard regarding 1. Engine Coolant Over Temperature 2. Power Reduced to Lower Engine Temperature. I have taken the car to a repair shop Thursday and Friday. I believe car is a lemon. Have had the vehicle for only 17 days. I can’t keep calling off work due to non operational vehicle. I would like to get this issue resolved or otherwise I would not be able to pay my car note

Brake Failure/ Right side passenger side brake hose failed. Heard a loud pop while having my foot on the brake. Went to start driving again and when I pressed my foot on the brake I couldn't stop. I had lost all braking. Brake fluid poured out and had to use the Emergency brake when getting towed to stop.

Took car in to ford dealership to have check engine light assessed. Was told there was a coolant leakage through the #1 cylinder and I would need to have the motor replaced. I was quoted $7100.

While backing up the back up camera either immediately gives error message and is black, or begins to work but half way through screen will go black and give error message

BLUF: Safety issue related to the brake sensor pad failing, resulting in unpredictable engine performance. On 02JUL21, I went to eat lunch and parked my car as normal. When I returned to my car, I noticed that my brake lights were still on, despite the engine being off and me being away from the car for 30 minutes. At the time, i assumed that I must have bumped the key fob buttons, and did not overthink it. However, as I drove the vehicle, I noticed significant loss of engine power as I sped up. As in, I would attempt to accelerate (normal rate, not aggressive), and at some random point, the engine would lose power (as though in limp mode), and would not respond to further throttle input. This could be resolved by lifting my foot completely off the gas pedal and reapplying pressure. Then I would accelerate again for approx. 2-3 seconds, then encounter another loss of power (and corresponding loss of speed). As a result, my speed on the road was unpredictable, as the car was not responding to my throttle inputs properly. After a nerve-wracking drive like this, I attempted to troubleshoot the car, and found that the spacer/bearing pad that the brake sensor bears on had fractured into pieces and was no longer functioning. It appears that the car's computer believed that the brakes were being applied when they were not, and so the computer was putting the car into some sort of reduced power mode, but not giving any check engine light warnings or similar notifications (I checked w

Randomly and without warning, the entire climate control system shuts off as well as the entire center console. The only message during this period is "temporarily lost communication with climate control". When all this shuts off, the drivers side controls for the windows becomes inoperative as well as the passenger side lock/unlock button. This renders a safety hazard because during times of heat and cold it becomes impossible to run the climate control or roll the windows down for any air movement. Also an extreme hazard is the passenger is unable to unlock the doors in even of an emergency. Occasionally when this happens, the air bag light will illuminate, causing unknown safety hazards in that aspect. I have contacted the dealership and was told it sounds like a potentially faulty computer module, or faulty wiring that could cost thousands to repair. The issue occurs 80% of the time the car is in operation and seems to happen more on hot days where it becomes critical to have air movement/AC.

Battery dies suddenly. No crank no start.

I just bought a new Battery. And I keep getting no crank no start. Rear suspension keeps squeaking as if it's not lubricated.

While driving, my vehicle stalled with no obvious warning. There were no lights displayed or other issues with the vehicle prior to this. I was able to press the gas pedal; however, it did not function. The car immediately slowed to a "coasting" speed while in traffic. This has occurred without warning on at least 3 occasions, all while in traffic. I have also noticed that this happens after having turned and after accelerating. This could have easily caused injury to myself and other drivers.

This is a complaint on the ability to get repair made under NHSTA 20V-177, Ford recall notice 20S15. Under the process set up by Ford Motor Company I am being told by 2 dealers the repair can take up 2 to 5 days with the vehicle at the shop. The labor time allotted by Ford for my vehicle is 1.8 Hrs to make the repair. Ford is NOT authorizing a rental car. It is my understanding that recall notices issued by NHSTA should not be any expense to the consumer and completed in a timely manner. How are consumers like myself, who is a senior citizen with only one vehicle suppose to get around? Or a working person to get to work. Why is the NHSTA letting Ford get away with this? Is this not a serious safety issue? Your response is appreciated.

Had dealer work on recall 18s20. Transmission linkage. After 9 days got the car back and the recall work failed with less than 60 miles traveled. creating a very dangerous roll away event. Basically the car was placed in park. The car rolled away.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle failed to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed due to an engine misfire. The contact also stated that a quarter of a gallon of coolant was added within two weeks with the vehicle leaking coolant. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the spark plugs needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to an unknown technical service bulletin. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Front left brake line hoses ruptured while driving. Replaced with OEM part. Ford had +/- 500k Edge vehicles recalled for same issue, but not Fusions of the same era using the same type hose material, likely from same vendor. Occurred in parking lot at slow speed, when brake pedal was pressed it went directly to the floor and all hydraulic pressure lost. Part replaced by owner with OEM part.

Front right brake line hose ruptured during use on highway to slow vehicle and disengage cruise control. While doing so a loss of resistance was noticed and vehicle was safely driven to a stop with E-brake assistance. Hose was replaced by owner with aftermarket part. Owner still has OEM part if inspection requested. Tracking number 11420735 assigned by NHTSA is for left brake line hose which ruptured 4 months earlier.

Dashboard shows "temporarily lost connection with climate system". When displayed, the air conditioning system (cold or heat) works. Other functions on dash board are also unavailable. Windows or door locks do not work. Considerable safety concern for all but especially a vehicle transporting young children and/or infants. Summer heats rise to unbearable to dangerous to deadly if not addressed. Ford apparently has no fix but the issue is well documented amongst Ford owners. Unsure why this isn't a recall option given the nature and number of concerns. any help at all would be appreciated. While I provide today's date that it occurred, i share the problem has been ongoing for several years. It is on and off with the only consistent indication being when it is hot outside.

I was driving in hot 95 degree weather on on freeway with my A/C on going 65 MPH when my car beeped and a message popped up saying my engine coolant was too hot. My temp guage was at the highest temperature at Hot in the recline. I quickly turned off my A/C and slowed down and got into the farthest right lane. I was about to pull over when the temp guage dropped back to normal operating level which is about the middle. I drove slowly and exited and the car was NOT steaming or smoking. I left it running and checked underneath and NO leaks or drips of any kind. I drove off and upon accelerating the temp rose up not quite to the top of guage but close and then back to normal again. I got to my destination and left 5 hours later and it seemed fine. I checked under hood that night and coolant was below MIN line. I checked again the next morning and it was still at the same level. I have a 1.5 ecoboost engine and notice some white smoke coming out tail pipe some mornings when reversing out of driveway on rear camera. I had to order coolant and meanwhile took it straight to my mechanic who can't find a problem. Where did the coolant go? There are no codes popping up. I get regular oil changes and maintenance. I thought my engine was going to blow up. I've never drove a car and saw the temp guage at the top without some sort of steam or loss of power. Engine overheated on highway. Cracked engine block. Could have been hit by other vehicles. Short Block replaced by Ford dealer which I had to pay for. There were prior engine codes [usually P302] . A local auto repair shop replaced coils but wasn't able to find cause.

My 2015 Ford Fusion is having an issue where the coolant is leaking into the cylinders. I had new spark plugs and coils replaced twice in less than a week because of this issue because they broke. It’s an issue I have read that a lot of Ford fusions have but no recall has been issued. To fix this problem, Ford gave me an estimate of over $8000 and it should be fixed by ford since it’s a revolving issue with certain models.

Front brake lines on ford fusion 2015 titanium broke. Only have the image of the break lines but the front drivers side break line was bubbled up and the passenger side brake line split while I was driving. My safety was put at risk when my braking system gave out in the middle of an intersection. This was confirmed by a towing company and by a break repair service company the same day. No warning lights came on until after my brake fluid had been fully drained from the car.

Car idles rough and almost stalls causing a safety issue. The problem is a bad block. Coolant leaks into the cylinders causing the car to lose power and smoke out the exhaust. The problem was diagnosed by a local auto repair shop. No check engine lights or warnings came on the dash.

I WALKED OUTSIDE ONE MORING TO START MY CAR AND THERE WAS A PROLONGED CRANKING TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER, RIGHT AWAY AFTER PUTTING IT IN DRIVE THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER, ALSO A HESITATION THAT WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE. CHECK ENIGNE LIGHT CAME ONE. HAD IT SCANNED SURE ENOUGH MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3 (P0303). WHITE SMOKE WXITING FROM EXHAUST AT START UP. VERY SLOW TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.

AIR BAG LIGHT CAME IN, FORD DEALER SAYS SEATBELT RETRACTOR PIN BROKEN, ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CORRODED AND ENTIRE ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED! THE HAVE A SERVICE ALERT ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. AIRBAG WILL NOT OPERATE UNTIL FIXED! CANNOT AFFORD THE COST OF REPAIR! HELP!

I HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR REPLACED BECAUSE THE BOLTS CORRODED OFF. CAN WE GET MY VIN ADDED AND REIMBURSED.
