I first noticed the extreme wobble going 65 mph on the highway. I almost lost control of the truck due to the extreme wobbling sensation after hitting a small bump. I have driven over the same bump in other vehicles with no issue whatsoever. I am now noticing that the problem is getting worse happening at speeds as low as 25 mph traveling on regular streets. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer to have this issue addressed they can’t get me in for almost 3 weeks. This could be a extremely dangerous issue that should have been addressed from the manufacturer. The whole truck shakes and the steering wheel violently moves left and right on its own.

My 2019 Ford has done the "death wobble" as its known 3 times in the last month. It shakes so violently when you go over a bump in the road that you must immediately pull off the road and the cars behind you must swerve to miss you because you have to stop and pull over to make it stop. The last time it did it on 9/10/2021 my arms literally hurt from the the terrible shaking. Another time on 9/7/2021 I had my 2 grandchildren with me and they started to cry because they thought we were in some sort of accident. I have 52,000 miles on it and am afraid to drive it.

Hi on September 06, 2021 at around 10:00am i was driving west on Freeway 10, I was with my family (wife and two kids 5 and 2 year old) on the carpool lane of a very busy freeway in San Gabriel valley. And when my truck started going over 60 mph it started violently shaking. My family and me held tight to the truck, I held on to the steering wheel as hard as I could while I slowly decreased the speed. I was able to bring the speed down to 30mph but the shaking would not stop. I slowly merged across the lanes and came a complete stop on the side of the freeway. I got out of the truck and inspected the outside to see if anything visible broke. After I checked the outside and got back and checked the screen but no messages were given for any sort of malfunction. i tried driving the truck again but at low speed 50mph and the issue did not occurred again, I'm afraid to drive 65 to 70 mph on this truck again and my wife was terrified, saying she could of not imagine what would of happened if she was the one driving at the time of the incident. on September 7, 2021 i took my truck for inspection at Bob Wondries Ford located at 400 S. Atlantic Blvd, Alhambra CA 91801 (626-246-3591), they should have a report for me in about two days.

While driving down the interstate, traveling at 65 MPH, after traversing a moderate bump in the road, the steering wheel started violently shaking. The only way to get the shaking to stop was to slow down to 40 MPH, 25 MPH below the posted speed limit. The inability to control the vehicle and the unsafe requirement to slow on a busy highway is a serious safety concern. This situation is wide lol y known as the Death Wobble.

My Ford F-250 2019 Shakes violently on random occasions when I am driving over 50 mph. No warning laps or messages show up prior. This incident has happened multiple times already. It happens when i'm driving on the highway. On this more recent incident I was on the highway with my pregnant wife and my 6 year old son and the vehicle started shaking violently and I nearly lost control for a moment on a busy highway in Miami FL. I was able to gain control and pull off safely onto the emergency lane. There are no recalls for this malfunction. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. This incident could have caused the life of my family and many others on this highway if i wouldnt have been able to gain control.

I was driving down the highway at 70 mph and hit a bump in the road where there was repaving going on. As soon as I hit the bump, the truck and steering wheel began shaking incredibly hard to the point where the truck was hard to control. It felt like I had a tire that had gone completely flat. I slowed down and got off on the shoulder of the road and had to come to a complete stop to get the shaking to stop. I got out, walked around the truck and couldn't find any issues. I got back in the truck and drove down to the next exit, getting up to about 60 mph with no issues. The next morning I had the same issue occur again in a very similar situation.

On going problem: When driving at speeds above 45mph should you happen to hit a slightly recessed manhole cover or defect in the road the steering wheel shakes violently and rapid deceleration is the only cure, applying the brakes has no effect. On a back road I travel frequently, when void of traffic I 'let go' of the steering wheel while hitting a slightly (approx 1-1.5") manhole cover, the truck immediately veered to the left into the oncoming traffic lane. Again no traffic at the time. The wobble of the steering wheel is violent, and cannot be corrected by turning the steering wheel, only slowing down. Personally I feel the adaptive steering is partially to blame. My 2012 F250 with old fashioned steering never had this issue. Please note you only allow one incident date. This started when the truck had about 12,000 miles on it, at that time it was a slight shaking which has grown into an all out loss of control

While driving at highway speed (60-65MPH) on interstate highway, upon entering upon a bridge or overpass (and crossing over a small bump at the beginning of same), the front-end began to shake violently; said violent shaking only stopped after brakes were slammed on and speed was reduced to a crawl. This happened three times on a recent trip. Vehicle has been properly maintained, last serviced at Ford Dealer on 7/14/21. I experienced "death wobble" as described in hundreds of other complaints. Fortunately, I grip the wheel tightly and did not run off the road. This condition (apparently well-known to Ford) put my life and my wife's life in danger, as well as that of anyone driving behind me. Why hasn't NHTSA recalled this vehicle when this exact problem has been documented hundreds of times?

Experienced what I would characterize as a life threatening experience in my 2019 Ford 250 pickup. While passing another vehicle on AZ 77 my steering went into a violent shuddering causing me to lose control of the vehicle and causing me to have to reduce my speed ASAP immediately in front of the vehicle I had just passed. I managed to safely pull to the shoulder/ditch and inspect the truck. I did resume my trip as I could not find obvious damage to my truck. I decided to see if I could replicate the shaking but at a much lower speed and I was able to do so. First incident was at about 70 mph and second was at about 55 mph. I looked on the web for reports of this happening to other owners of Ford 250 trucks and it was rife with reports. The phenomenon even has a name. “The Death Shudder” Aptly named I would say. All required maintenance has been performed on the truck but FMC has not agreed with it being a design issue. Numerous blogs exist suggesting fixes but none from the manufacturer.

My vehicle was included in the recall for the steering damper. In May of 2021 I had the Ford dealership inspect my vehicle and they changed the steering damper as well as the drag link. On 22 Aug 2021 I experienced the well known death wobble while driving approximately 70 mph. I had limited control of the vehicle and attempting to brake increased the initial shake. All I could do was ride out the shake, fortunately traffic was very light and not a factor on the interstate. Until I was below 40 mph I did not feel it was safe to even attempt to change lanes and pull over to the break down lane. Had there been more traffic and I been required to brake I do not believe that would have been possible, or had I been in a turn at the time of the incident I do not think I would have been able to maintain my lane or stay on the paved surface.

Experienced extreme steering wheel oscillation at 45 mph on freeway on-ramp. Oscillation was so extreme I had to pull off freeway and stop to regain normal steering control. Went to Ford dealership and they informed me I experienced the “Death Wobble “ That was the first time I had heard of the Death Wobble. Dealer replaced front steering dampener and recommended other linkage components be replaced. Steering Stabilizer was replaced under warranty 20NO4. Truck had 17429 miles. So after doing research on this I have found that it is a common problem from 2005-2019 Ford trucks and there has been no recall. This is a huge safety problem. Talk to a dealer service manger and explain you had extreme steering wheel oscillation on your Ford truck and they will say you have the “Death Wobble “. There is what I would call violent shaking of the vehicle which causes loss of control and difficulty steering. One specific instance this week caused our F250 to jolt into the opposite lane. Thank goodness there was no oncoming traffic. This has been happening for about a month now at any time and under typical driving conditions and speed. Of course we just past our 36,000 mile warranty. This is of great concern for fear it may cause an accident and hurt us, as well as others on the road. Ford should issue an immediate recall for all trucks affected.

After finding no issues I attempted to take off again catching back up to traffic although a little slower as that was a very scary previous experience. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle and bring it to a complete stop(luckily there were no vehicles following us at the time). I felt that I was going to lose control of the vehicle and possibly roll over and there was no warning that this was about to happen. After exiting the vehicle and doing a walk around inspection, I determined that I would not call a tow vehicle and continue with my trip, depending on the wobble being gone. The vehicle had approximately 40,000 miles on the odometer at the time. Two days later, I took the truck to a Ford dealership, where the Service Dept. admitted that they have had the same problems with with many Super Duty trucks similar to mine. They inspected and replaced the steering dampers and stabilizer arm and stated that this had fixed the problem on many other Super Duty trucks. I have not had any recurrence of the issue as yet and am hoping the problem is solved, although I have my doubts.

When my headlights are on, many times my rear lights do not work. This has never been so when first turned on but they go off later (I have after market side marker lights on my truck so I can see this). If I move the headlight switch one direction or the other, they will come on, Then I can move it back and they will stay on. May not happen again for days, or may happen again in minutes. I spoke with the dealer, and they have no bulletins about this issue and can not address until they stop working all together. Since then I have been watching trucks of this body style and see them go past with headlights on, then I look in my mirror and many do not have any tail lights lit. In this week alone I have counted 17 trucks with no tail lights when head lights are on. In a standard pickup that does not have side marker lights it would be impossible to know this is occurring. I bough this truck new in June of 2019 and had noticed that pulling my trailer, that many times the trailer side marker lights would go out driving down the road. I assumed the trailer had an issue. It wasn't until April 16, 2021 that I noticed this issue. I had an after market body installed after removing the pickup bed, and the following day, I noticed this issue. My wife and I were travelling on Interstate 81 between our home in South Carolina to Maryland over the 2021 July 4th holiday. My wife was driving, at highway speed of about 75-80 mph. The truck travelled onto a bridge/overpass and when it exited the bridge, at the joint where it meets the road surface again, the truck experienced a small bump. Immediately, the he suspension on the front end began to vibrate violently , and this vibration travelled into the steering column. My wife was quite panicked and held onto the steering wheel with a death grip. The shaking was so violent, and accompanying noise so loud, I worried we had flattened all the tires. I instructed my wife to begin to slow and pull over to the shoulder. The shaking continued, and eventually she was able to exit the road onto the shoulder where she stopped the truck. She put the transmission in park and I got out to inspect the truck. No tires showed any indication of damage, nor did any of the suspension or steering components that I was able to observe. We drove on the shoulder for a little bit, and the vehicle operated normally. We got back onto the roadway and there was no vibration at all.
