The truck started shaking uncontrollably while we were on the highway (65 mph).this has happened before for short periods of time, this time was much longer and scarier. It wouldn’t stop until we pulled over on the highway and came to a complete stop. We’ve noticed this happens if the truck is turning and going over a bump. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle has not been inspected yet, we left a message at Hiller Ford in Franklin, WI to set up an apt. There were not any warning signs and so thankful that my husband was able to keep the vehicle under control while traveling at high speed.
When driving and hit a bump in the road the truck shuck uncontrollably. Could have lost control of vehicle.
While driving from Texarkana Texas to Cleveland Texas today, I experienced three cases of the “Death Wobble” on my 2019 F250 Super Duty truck. This truck has only 22,800 miles on it and has no off road miles on it. This problem occurred when encountering only minor bumps in the road. This is a serious problem for several years now. I also had this problem with a new 2017 model with only 26,000 miles on it. These trucks are not safe to drive and accidents or even deaths may occur if Ford doesn’t fix their defective design.
On 8 November 2021 and again on 9 November 2021, I experienced what two Ford service dept's called the "Death Wobble". The first occurred under what was potentially lethal circumstances; twisty mountain roads on I-40W in NC. The front end began shaking violently and uncontrollably, with my vehicle surrounded by moving tractor trailer trucks. I managed to come to a violent stop on the shoulder of I-40 without a collision. The second occurred at the I-555/I-270 merge in Missouri. Same circumstances: violent shaking. I braked harshly and at approx 8mph the shaking went away. T took it to a mechanic who crawled underneath and could see nothing amiss. I then drove to the Ford dealer in Kirkwood, MO. The service chief pronounced it the "Death Wobble" but couldn't get me in for two weeks. I limped to Hermann, MO Ford dealer. The service manager pronounced it the "Death Wobble" and took it into the shop immediately. I had the vehicle back by 1000 the next morning, fixed-no charge. He said Ford had an extended warranty out on that/those parts. the steering stabilizer shock(s). It was unclear to me if this was a pair of shocks. I have no receipt because the service dept said it was a warranty issue and the dealership had to submit it to Ford.
The rear backup camera has fogged up so much as to be useless and unviewable.

The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V576000 (Power Train) however, the dealer informed the contact that the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and advised the contact that they were working on getting the parts shipped to the dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts are not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the front end of the vehicle drove over a bump on the road and the contact almost lost control of the vehicle. Additionally, the vehicle would shake while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment to replace the steering damper. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000.
While driving down the highway at approximately 60 mph hit a rough area that had just been patched by the highway department and the front end started shaking violently. Could not steer the truck and had to brake to 25mph for the shaking to stop. This has happened four times. The truck was bought in Dec 2019 and has 12,000 miles on it. It has been serviced by the Ford dealership and has all original factory equipment. My safety and others on the highway was put at risk when this happened. No warning at all when it happened. This last event was on Nov 18th 2021.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the front end of the vehicle suddenly began to violently shake and vibrate causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel and drive off the road. On a separate occasion, the failure occurred while pulling a trailer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacture was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Driving on smooth highway at 65mph experienced violent shaking of front suspension almost losing control of vehicle. Had to rapidly decelerate and move shoulder before it would stop shaking. This is a known problem but no recall as yet. Nickname is ‘Death Wobble’. Afraid to drive this vehicle. I understand that action lawsuits so far have not forced Ford to recall these vehicles.
Front end of vehicle wobbles violently on interstate after hitting a potholes and uneven pavement. It made the vehicle hard to control.I had to slow the vehicle down to 50mph to come out of the wobble.
At Highway speeds if I hit a small bump in the road it causes the front suspension to shake or Wobble to the point where I cannot stear. This has happened many many times.
While driving 65mph and passing a slower vehicle I hit a minor uneven spot in the road. The steering wheel started violently shaking and almost caused me to lose control of the truck. I was able to slow down and pull to the shoulder. This is the 3rd time it has happened to me with this 2019 F250. The first time it happened I was headed home from vacation. The next day it happened again. I reported to Ford and they replaced the damper assembly. This last time was the most violent event. I reported on this website as well. 1st event was approximately at 12,000 miles. This time at 24,000 miles. I bought the truck new in 2019. This happened both times without warning. I can’t get it into dealer until 12/06/2021.
My truck (2019 F250) shakes violently on highway after hitting any bump going over 55mph. Truck had the customer satisfaction program repair (20N04) done in April 2021. Truck is un controllable when it is shaking like this. Truck won’t stop shaking until reduced speed to approx 40-45mph. No accident has occurred to this point. Truck is up repaired at this point.
While driving on an interstate highway at a speed of 75 MPH the steering wheel begin to shake violently along with the dash and loose objects in the cab. The violent shaking continued until I came to a complete stop. This happened 3 more times on this day and along the same stretch of highway. This happened at a steady speed with no application of brakes or change in direction.
Minor imperfections on highway , going 55-70 mph, causing violent shaking .Have to slow almost to stop to get shaking to stop.Shaking is serious enough to get someone killed.(perfect description is death wobble).PRoblem has been occurring since approximately 5000 miles, bought vehicle new.
Front end of the vehicle violent shakes after hitting a small bump on the highway. Unable to get the truck to stop shaking until I stop the vehicle.
We were on our way home Saturday and hit a small bump on the bridge and the front end started shaking out of control the whole truck was wobbling. We had to slow down immediately almost to a stop. It was a scary moment I’m glad no other vehicles were around us when this happened!!
Loss control of vehicle after hitting a bump on the highway causing truck to bounce into highway barrier. - life threatening causing bodily harm. - just happened , haven't notified dealer yet. - no components inspected yet. -no warnings.
This vehicle suffers from the Ford death wobble on the freeway when driving with the flow of traffic. We were traveling south on I-5 and hit some bumps on the road which began the process of the whole truck shaking. The steering wheel went out of control and the whole body was visibly shaking. There were no accidents but we had to pull off the freeway and stop the vehicle. I have a video of the incident if needed.
Front end began shaking violently at 70mph after going over a rough bumpy patch. Pulled over checked lug nuts (all tight). Started driving and happened again at about 60mph, very violent front end movement again with a series of small bumps. Got off turnpike and drove slow with no issues. Was able to recreate the wobble a third time at about 60mph in a safe area. Going straight each time. Vehicle is uncontrollable when it occurs.
Driving on freeway at 80mph posted idaho freeway speed went into voilent death wobble front end head shake which sent me into center median out of control it started from going over overpass i e bridge so voilent it thru my hands from steering wheel until i could get it under control.ford first said it was a recall for steering dampner then changed it over to warrenty work haven't been on freeway since with it nervous might do it again and might not get has lucky next time ford tells me its all good with the new steering stablelizer also the problem ruined tires dont feel like being a crash dummy for ford so im staying away from freeway for as long as i can help it definite problem .
I was driving north on US 521 between Sumter and Rembert, South Carolina. Without warning, my vehicle began to violently shake. I held on tightly to the steering wheel as it was almost uncontrollable. It was an extremely scary situation as I could hardly maintain control among passing cars and a narrow road shoulder. I braked slowly, pulled partially off the road (extremely narrow shoulder after curb), and engaged my emergency flashers. As I was getting out my truck, I assumed I had one or both front tires were flat. Upon inspection, none of the tires were damaged/flat. I then returned to the truck and drove very slowly (30 MPH) to the post office in Rembert, SC to inspect underneath the truck to see if anything was loose or broken. Nothing was found during visual inspection. I had approximately 20 miles to go before I could reach my home; thus, I drove slowly. Upon arriving home, I called my local Ford dealership and told them what happened. They stated Ford had issued a memo stating if anyone had this problem to replace the steering damper/stabilizer. I have an appointment for this November 6, 2021. Later that day, I began researching all the Ford and diesel forums to see if anyone had this same experience. I was amazed how many truck owners had the same occurrence while driving and the condition had a name; the DEATH WOBBLE. I have been researching the death wobble for the past few days and every site/forum came to the same conclusion: replacing the steering damper/stabili
I was traveling down the highway at high speeds and my vehicle started shaking uncontrollably. I had to pull over to the side of the road and slow down for it to stop. On a separate occasion, the same thing happened...the steering wheel was shaking almost like the vehicle was seizing up.
Major Death Wobble. Could not brake on the interstate. Going 70mph.
Today while driving on the highway at 75 miles per hour, the front end of my vehicle suddenly started violently shaking. It felt like a blow out had occurred on both front tires. The entire front of the vehicle shook like an earthquake, and the steering wheel shook so hard that I had difficulty holding onto it to control the vehicle as I slowed to a stop. It was difficult to hold it straight, as not to allow it into the other lane. There were no warning lights or notifications on the dash. I got out and walked around to inspect the vehicle, and there was nothing apparently wrong. I continued driving, and within a 400 mile trip, this same event occurred 3 times. The truck is well aligned, as I can generally remove my hands from the steering wheel and it remains moving straight forward when driving. The tires have a good tread, and they have appropriate air pressure. This was the 1st time I’ve ever experienced anything like this in a vehicle. After I got home from the trip, I researched online and learned that many people have experienced such events in the Ford F-250 and F-350. They refer to it as the death wobble. It seems negligent of Ford to refuse to recall these vehicles or the parts that need to be replaced. If I had been on an interstate highway when this occurred today, I would very likely have had an accident.
Uncontrollable shaking at about 72 after hitting a bump in the road. Had to slow down to about 30 to get it to stop on a 70mph highway.
Severe "death wobble" condition occurred on highway.
Severe shuddering in the steering after encountering a rough road surface at 65 mph. Heavy braking was required before safe control of the vehicle was obtained at less than 50 mph. Some milder shuddering has occurred at speeds less than 50 mph. The vehicle had 41,000 miles on the odometer when this occurred so normal wear and tear should not be the cause unless the OEM components are defective. The truck is available for inspection and my local dealership has been notified.
Death wobble, Uncontrollable shaking going over bumps or 45+ miles per hour Has happened multiple times sense July 2021
Steering has the Death wobble on certain numbs. Steering wheel shakes violently and there is loss of control. Back to Ford @ about 20 thousand miles for a new steering damper. Now at 60 thousand the problem is back
Suspension “DEATH WOBLE” Traveling on the highway 68 mph and had no steering with the steering wheel shaking violently and moved me over one full lane before I could slow down and get it under control again. Cars swerved all around me to avoid crashing and my life along with my passenger and other drivers were all put at risk. This is just crazy! Car just came out of the dealer for service for vibration and all they did was an alignment and charged me and said it all looks good and that shaking/vibration is normal. I lease this car and pay 600 a month and can’t even drive it. Ford needs to be forced to fix this issue, this is killing people.
Driving on highway 287 in NJ and hit slight bump in road causing severe uncontrollable shaking of truck. Finally got truck to pull over and stop. Kept pressure on brakes to stop shaking. Then continued. The next day, on another highway, rt 80 in NJ, I again hit another bump on road going 60, and it happened again.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph over a bump, the vehicle started to shake violently. The contact stated the vehicle went into "death wobble" without warning The driver had to pull over for the vehicle to work as designed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
Violent front end shaking made the vehicle go out of control on a freeway
I cant drive truck over 50mph it shakes the whole truck i looked it up its called the death wobble. I almost lost control today and wrecked with my whole family in the car.
Death wobble
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle hit a pothole and inadvertently started shuddering violently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving whenever the vehicle drove over a pothole. The contact stated she reduced the speed to 40 MPH and the vehicle stopped shuddering. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the front stabilizer shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.
I was driving down the highway going 75mph and hit a slight bump on the overpass and my vehicle began to shake very violently. I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway with people flying by me. There was no shoulder for me to pull over and it was by far one of the most terrifying experiences I’ve been apart of in a vehicle. This is known as the Death Wobble and it’s a huge safety issue. There was no warning and I had to think quickly on my feet. Luckily my family wasn’t with me.
Last month we purchased a 2019 F250 SD..with less than 32K miles...(under Warranty). Since the purchase, we have had 3 incidents of the Ford "DEATH WOBBLE", each one increasingly worse than the last. The local Ford dealer finally ( a week to get in ) begrudgingly DROVE & INSPECTED the truck & said "NOTHING WRONG". We asked they check the bushings, balljoints, steering system for Wobble... they said NO SUCH THING...and then aligned the front tires free of charge ? Two days later as I was heading to Texas...I hit a bump in the road and the RIGHT tire lost contact w/the road. Then after it made contact w/road, I had EXTREME jerking Left & Right IN THE STEERING...causing the truck to veer into the left lane ( a 4 lane)...I was within 2' of hitting the concrete divider ! Traffic behind me SLOWED. The WOBBLE is most violent when the Truck hits a defect in the pavement at 45 to 70MPH wherein the wheel is momentarily airborne...THEN on impact w/the road, the Wobble begins..there is NO CONTROL at that point. Once in Texas, I went to an Independent Service Center who had a great deal of experience w/the DEATH WOBBLE...not only verified the problem as the Death Wobble BUT FIXED IT !...to the point my wife will now travel with me...she had refused the trip from AL. to Tx. I did not blame her...it is very scary stuff. Safer on the airline, Covid & all ! PARTS NEEDED: Caster/camber adjusting bushings, Rod Assy-Drag Lind, Tie Rod Ends, 2 Ball Joints, Stabilizer/Track Bar, Tie rod end were a
When driving the truck and come into contact with rough road, the front wheel/s feel like they are coming off of the truck. The entire truck shakes as well as the steering column vibrating extensively. Since this issue has been recognized a couple months ago as I was driving on a freeway, the local Ford dealership service center is willing to fix the issue but informed me that I would be held responsible for the service costs due to my truck having 49,000 miles on it and no longer covered under the 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty. As I have researched, I have found this to be a common problem with the Ford F250 and is called the "Death Wobble". For an inexperienced driver this could be a major accident waiting to happen!
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH and traveling over a bump in the roadway, the vehicle started shaking violently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle experienced the death wobble. Additionally, the front tires were off the roadway. The contact applied the brakes to stop the vehicle from shaking. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I have experienced rapid, violent vibrations in the front suspension (aka "death wobble") in my 2019 Ford F-250 numerous times. I have taken it back to the dealership (Loveland Ford) where I purchased and have my vehicle services through. It started with less that 10,000 miles on it. Ford came out with a recall to replace the steering dampener and Ford has replaced it twice, have done an alignment on the vehicle. It seemed to have been better but I don't drive the interstate that often anymore and have since experienced it a number of times. Ford now tells me they have done everything they can but I just experienced it again and I have just under 30,000 miles on this truck. I am sure you are aware of the concerns but if not, just google death wobble, 2019 Ford F-250, I am not the only one. This is very concerning to me because each time I have had to slow down from 75 to 35 to get it to stop and my concern is this is going to cause and accident or vibrate so violently that it will cause a crash.
Vehicle has 19,600 miles and recently when entering Interstate and going over a rough area on the highway at 60 - 65 mph the front end steering started a very violent shaking causing the vehicle to be hard to control and forcing me to slow down so rapidly it caused other vehicles behind me to have to swerve to keep from running into the rear of my vehicle. The shaking stopped after I came to a stop on the side of the road and has not happened again but have only driven a few miles since this occurred.
When driving at highway speeds (45mph plus) the vehicle has twice begun to shake/shudder violently when going over a bump. When this occurs, the only option is to slow down and pullover as quickly as possible whereupon the shaking subsides. All tires are inflated to the proper PSI and the vehicle was not being used for towing when this occurred. The vehicle only has 30,000 miles and has been taken into the dealership per the maintenance schedule for inspection and maintenance.
While driving on the highway my vehicle starts shaking very bad, this has happened a few times now.
Severe steering wheel oscillation and front end shake after crossing over bridge expansion joints or rough road surface at speeds of 50 to 70 mph. This occurred on highway and caused the truck to begin to drift into adjacent lane. Unable to quickly reduce speed because of semi truck and additional vehicles immediately behind my vehicle -- shaking stopped after reducing speed to approximately 40-45mph. Truck was taken to dealer and track bar was replaced, however problem has not been resolved and reoccurred on the first trip back on the highway. Truck is currently schedule to be serviced again by dealer.
I have experienced the death wobble several times over the last month. I went to the dealership and asked them to check the suspension (tie rods, shocks, etc) and they said nothing was wrong. From 40-70 mph, if I hit the smallest bump or uneven spot in the road, the entire front end shakes so bad I can hardly stay on the road.
The truck started shaking extremely bad when driving on the highway. It was very violent and pull me of the road. Lost some of the trim of the bottom of the wheel wells. Scratch up from the tall grass.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
