The Cam Phasers are going bad. This is a known issue with Ford 3.5l GTDI engines. They have published Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 in relation to this matter. My 2019 F150 is experiencing failed cam phasers, which has been confirmed by the Ford dealership. I reached out to Ford to discuss the matter, but they stated my vehicle is not covered under this program. A claim report was started by Ford on my issue CXH01965202. The same failure described in the Ford document is happening in my vehicle, so I do not understand why my vehicle is being excluded. The failure is more widespread than what Ford is claiming, and they need to expand the program to include all impacted automobiles.
Five weeks ago, my transmission service light came on. I drove to Phil Long Ford, by nursing the vehicle along, and left it to be repaired. I was told today that the 10 speed transmission is a common problem, and they are backed up for repairs for many of these same problems. I have had to wait for parts due the frequent occurrence of this issue, and lack of trained personnel to handle it. I was also told today that it would be two more weeks before I can get back the vehicle. If this is so common that the dealers are having issued repairing, there should be a quality recall of these vehicles, to repair or replace or compensate the owners.

I purchased a 2019 F150 in 2023 to date the car has roughly 60,000miles on it. Recently I noticed it "slipping" when driving. I brought it to the dealer where the car was purchased to be looked at. Upon dropping the car off, a service tech said this was a common issue in this type of vehicle. Ford called a few days later, the vehicle needs a full transmission rebuild and they are not willing to help cover the cost even though they sold the vehicle with a faulty transmission and without disclosing a material fact about the vehicle. The transmission is the system that failed/is failing and it is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle got stuck in 4th gear which prevented it from properly shifting and maintaining an appropriate speed on an interstate. This put and will put myself and every vehicle around me in danger.
The first item to malfunction was the transmission gear indicator on the dash, that started about a year after I bought the truck and would intermittently work. I had multiple oil changes in the truck at various dealers and brought it up but nothing ever came up from it since it was intermittent. Then in 2023 a warning popped up that the blind spot indicators were malfunctioning. I was planning to bring it in to be looked at but did not have time to with work and family. Then at 95,000 miles the transmission failed while towing a loaded trailer and began to shift erratically, sending the engine to extremely dangerous RPM levels while trying to downshift. Every gear began to clunk into place with a severe jerking motion and then eventually could only be operated with any sort of safety at low speeds. There were initially NO warning lamps that popped up for the transmission failure either. It went out at night 2.5hours away from my home so I spent 15minutes limping it to a gas station at low very low speeds. Only moving it around a bit the next day did it show any warning and it just said to see the dealer.
The transmission went out after only having the truck 1 year. Hard shifting, sluggish shifting and now it’s gone from what the dealership said. It’s the Eco boost V6 with the 10 speed transmission 10R80. I see lawsuits but no recalls from Ford. Couldn’t get up a small hill. The truck is still in the shop
Transmission has hard shifting at various speeds even if you let go of gas. HARD & Delayed shift from park to reverse sometimes park to drive! There’s multiple TSB from ford stating the reason and cause for this! This is a manufacture defect that people have to pay out of pocket for if we aren’t under manufacturing warranty! I think they knew before hand but neglected it they should be the one covering the payment for getting transmission fixed not the owner when it was a manufacturer problem
While leaving the parking spot at Winco the truck turned itself off and displayed the following message. Auto start-stop shift to P restart engine I was able to restart the engine after putting it in park, if that had happened at an intersection it could have been very severe. I am getting the truck serviced. ASAP

Truck was in Ford dealer 4 times over 9 months for fix to the transmission. Each time the chief complaint was a vehicle that would allow the transmission to stick between gears so acceleration would cease. It would also be put in reverse but the vehicle would not register that it was in reverse, hence not backing up. Vehicle not going forward or backward is a safety issue. Problem was reproduced by dealer each time. Ford Corporate was involved in trying to fix. No lights appeared on dash during any experience. Nothing done to the vehicle by Kernersville Ford or Ford Corporate worked to relieve the issues. Cam phasers, powertrain control module. While at a remote site, my engine started making a rattle when first started. Later at the remote site, the truck would not start until weather conditions improved. Upon returning home, I took the truck to my local Ford dealership where it was confirmed the cam phasers needed replacing and was done. I later found a Ford Customer Satisfaction Program notice [XXX], [XXX] and [XXX] I had received in October 2021. I had acted on that notice with the Ford Dealership in College Station, TX at the time and they said I did not need to do anything because I was not experiencing the problem at the time. The cam phasers are a known problem with this vehicle and should be recalled. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

10 speed transmission when cold jumps / bangs into gear , sometimes slips first start of day . Only when easy on throttle and scary till it fi ds gear. Only after sitting and 1st drive of day.
Windshield wipers suddenly stopped working on a trip and I had to drive without wipers in snow and slush, which was difficult. I took apart the wiper assembly and the center, passenger side wiper shaft was frozen solid with corrosion, I had to drill 2 holes in the casting to get lubrication on the shaft to free it up in order to get home. From what I see online this appears to be a common problem.
Camphasers and timing problems
I purchased a 2019 Ford F-150 new from Muzi Ford in Needham Ma. Starting in the winter of 2021 with less than 35,000 miles the truck was sometimes slow in shifting through the gears, ( it is an automatic transmission ) it seemed as though it was slipping on ice . I assumed it was due to cold weather. The same situation occurred occasionally the following winter and seemed worse the colder it was. Several months ago it began to happen more frequently, and now it it has become constant and much worse. The truck stalls , revs up, slips into neutral, then suddenly lunges forward creating a very unpredictable and dangerous situation. It is now nearly impossible to operate this vehicle safely. I took the truck to Madden Ford in Norwood Ma on [XXX] of this year to have it looked at. I was told , much to my surprise that the transmission is beyond repair and would need to be replaced . They also told me that it was no longer covered under the warranty as the truck now has just over 60,000 miles. The cost quoted to replace the transmission is $ 9,877 plus tax. I was also told at the dealership that this is a common problem with this model and year and that it was too bad that I had not brought the truck in sooner as it would have been replaced at no cost to me. I have subsequently discovered that indeed this has been and continues to be an ongoing problem, and that Ford Motor Company knew of these transmission problems and yet continued to manufacture and sell them to unknowing custom

Transmission goes out of gear while accelerating, will stay out of gear for a few seconds, engine rev, then lurch forward when it goes into gear. Transmission will also have delayed shifting, for example will stay in second gear up to high RPM before upshifting (under slow acceleration), then slam into 4th gear.

Transmission has hard shifting in lower gears. It gets stuck in 4th gear and loses power. It also will lunge forward sometimes once it gets stuck in 4th gear. It puts mine and others safety in jeopardy because if it loses power on the road it might cause a acciden it might also cause one when it lunges forward. The problem seems to happen everyday I drive the vehicle. There has been no warning lights on the dash about this issue. Ford released a technical service bulletin about it but is should be a recall.

The variable camshaft timing (VCT) solenoid becomes gummed up, causing the engine to lag. Specifically after driving on the interstate or highway and then sitting at a red light. The VCT does not perform properly and the engine idle drops, causing the truck to stall and die at the light. Online forums show this to be a common problem for the past couple generations of this Ford 5.0 L motor and always seems to occur between 80,000 and 100,000 miles.

The transmission completely loses power at random intervals. It will also shift gears without changing throttle ( from 7th to 1st and back) The vehicle will ‘hunt’ for a gear while turning causes the vehicle to stall This is a life threatening issue.
My drivers side tail light burned out. I replaced with the recommended bulb Sylvania 3057. several months later, the same tail light became very dim, and upon removing the assembly, I noticed the sockets for the bulbs were melting. I was told by the Ford dealer service writer that this was caused by poor quality bulbs. The tail light assembly was damaged requiring a new assembly, new sockets. I am concerned that this could be a fire hazard, and wondering why there was no fuse to protect the wiring. The repair facility discarded the damaged part, but I do have a photo.
Transmission between 3rd and 5th gear stops shifting and vehicle doesn’t excellerate this is while I’m in traffic. It also will make a banging noise where I thought someone had ran into the rear of my vehicle. Started last year and it’s getting worst.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
