I was driving around 70 mhp and my truck shifted from 6th to 4th and back to sixth... I had to take it to the shop and it was a bad output shaft sensor code p0720. This new recall about the 2014s ford f150 sounded to similar to what my truck did.. I am hoping my truck is fixed and not another issue that is going to get me into a wreck.

The "service advance trac" light would come on and the vehicle would go into limp mode. Limp mode would last until the vehicle was turned off. This happened 4 times in all. Once in March and three times in June. It always occurred shortly after the initial start of the day. The vehicle is available for additional inspection if and when needed. When the vehicle goes into limp mode, a loss of power occurs. This is a safety concern as moving through intersections from a complete stop is unusually slow and lagging. The Ford dealership did not find the root cause during initial inspection, which resulted in a bad diagnosis and an unneeded repair. The second dealership visit, 3 months after the initial, resulted in finding a chafed wiring harness. It had rubbed against a frame rail near the radiator. The chafing not only rubbed through the harness insulation, but also the insulation on some of the wires inside of the large harness/bundle of wires. The warning lights first appeared in March of 2024 when the unneeded repair was performed. Three months later, in June of 2024, the chafed wiring harness was discovered and repaired by a Ford dealer in Apple Valley, MN. I will do my best to provide the dealer video of the issue as well as the two invoices associated with the repairs. Within the invoices there are excellent notes left by the technicians that describe their findings. With the June invoice resulting in repairing the root cause. I cannot upload the video, so I posted it to Yo

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Timing system, yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Truck shuts off in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, 5 of them. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, by multiple parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes it did/does! The check engine light comes on now with the same symptoms it had before. The problems started less than a month after I got the truck. The first 10 to 15 minutes the truck drives fine then afterwards the check engine light normally comes on throws code p0022. It use to start rough idling with no light on at all but kills when I stop at a light or act as if it’s going shut off when slowing down. The truck is sluggish while it’s acting up, slow to pick up speed and it runs rough. The light will go off for 10 miles and be back on the next day but stays on. The remote start won’t work . The dealer I purchased it from did a lot of work but nothing they did fixed the problem. On paper it says cleaning rather than what they really did. I know they cleaned the throttle body, replaced one of the battery terminals etc.,. The truck has had a full timing job, alternator , water pump and much more

Vehicle is exhibiting issues consistent with the recalled lead frame part on previous year models, despite my 2016 having the same transmission as they do. Truck will randomly downshift into first at slower speeds causing engine to rev very high and not want to shift into next gear. Often times it will get “stuck” in 3rd gear even when coming to a complete stop and leaving a stop in 3rd still. On one occasion the truck shuddered and began to decelerate even as the accelerator was being pressed on the highway causing a significant safety issue, I had to put in neutral and restart the truck while still driving to regain forward mobility of the vehicle. When these things occur typically a little gear wrench symbol will appear on the dash and on one occasion has raised a check engine light with code P0720.

I believe the recent recall for 2014 F-150 transmission issue are not limited to 2014. On Friday [XXX], I was traveling in my 2016 F-150 in Kingston On, Canada, when my truck violently downshifted. I was driving at approx 90kph when this happened. I was towing a lightweight utility trailer at the time the rear wheel of the truck fishtailed slightly and the rpm when to around 5000-6000rpm, I do not know what gear the truck downshifted too. I ordered and replaced the transmission Conductor (Leadframe) myself. Part: Dorman 926-149. See attached photo of engine codes recorded after the incident. My truck is downshifting to 1st gear while driving. If I happen to be in cruise control the truck will just coast and the dash display will flicker, then go back to 6th gear. If I give it gas, then it will almost come to an abrupt stop or if I am out of cruise, it will come rev up and almost come to a stop. I am afraid to drive it because it may cause me to get rear ended. This has happened several times usually in the same section of the road but not limited to it.

I mean I had *zero* power - I pushed the gas pedal down and nothing at all happened. The warnings were: "Service AdvanceTrac System" "Hill Descent Control Fault" "Collision Warning Not Available" "Hill Start Assist Not Available" There was an orange wrench on the dash, the air bag light was on, the traction control light was on. The truck was idling super rough the whole truck was shaking. I shut the truck off - gave it a second and started it back up and Everything disappeared. It started happening maybe once every six months and now it’s multiple times a day. Today, i was in the middle of an intersection when it happened and barely made it to the side of the road.

TSB22-2089 Issue: Some 2015-2022 F-150, 2017-2022 Super Duty and 2018-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit poor air conditioning (A/C) performance, loss of airflow and/or engine cooling fans running continuously from high A/C pressures. This concern may be from the evaporator freezing up due to the evaporator temperature sensor being biased. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the evaporator temperature sensor. Many vehicles are experiencing this same problem including my fathers truck at 20k miles , sometimes for others at, as little as, 500 miles, the problem not only causes ac shut off after 30 minutes of driving, it also causes intermittent surges of the front fan causing the fan to turn on at high rates of speed causing wear and tear on the fan. This must be assessed on vehicles with this engine and similar equipment

Started July 2023. No code ever shows when issue happens. Ford technician has personally taken it home (with our permission) at night then driven it back to work (last July) and couldn't get the issue to occur. When idling at a stop sign/light, the vehicle will vibrate then stall. Have to put the truck in park from drive, touch brake and push start button to get it going again. We spent $1700 in January 2024 where they replaced some computer program. This did NOT fix the problem. Yesterday, we went to Pensacola, FL from Foley, AL and it stalled 5 times when idling. In the 10 months this has been happening, we can go two to three weeks without it stalling, then it will stall 1-3 times in the same trip. Researched internet - this seems to be a common problem but did not find a common resolution. So for now, we are thinking this is an engine issue. We haven't received any codes for any other issues. Also, Ford had a recall on this truck model for random tailgate opening. WE did take the truck in for this recall. This too did not fix the problem. Our hands are tied. I'm putting yesterday's date and information. It started July 2023 after 4th of July.

But I just had it inspected at the Garnet Ford dealership, told them about the problem, and they could not diagnose/fix it. It passed inspection, and I thought that it would iron out, but instead, I could have been in real trouble. I took it to another mechanic, and they told me it was something else. I paid $1,206 and the problem was still there. I finally think I figured it out by going on a chat with other Ford owners. I just made another appt. with Garnet to do the repair. The engine in my 2016 2.7L ecoboost F-150 overheated, while I was driving on the highway, without any warning that the temperature in the engine was rising. The temperature rose so much the engine cracked, resulting in a catastrophic failure. The coolant temp sensor came on when it cracked but the damage was done. There was absolutely no warning I was having a mechanical issue prior to the damage. I was barely able to get it onto the shoulder of the highway, with my children in the backseat. On top of that, Ford has made it impossible to find a replacement engine for that model. I have been fighting for months to find a replacement. The dealerships inform me they can't get a new engine because Ford no longer produces it. I spoke directly to Ford customer relations and they confirmed there is no replacement and are not willing to help me. My truck is currently at a mechanics shop and available to be inspected if necessary. I know of several other F150s that have experienced the same issue. Ford knew they had a problem with the ecoboost engine and have done nothing to fix it.

Exhaust manifold studs cannot support the weight of the manifold and turbo and end up breaking, ultimately causing exhaust leaks into the passenger cabin creating a toxic air quality inside the vehicle. Ford has redesigned the part to have an additional bolt as this is a common problem. There should be a forced recall with Ford to repair vehicles effected by this and install the upgraded part. I've received quotes from mechanics of several thousand dollars to repair this. Ford needs to take care of this. I have 75k miles on my vehicle.
