My Engin light went on code was P0304 cylinder 4 misfire.I recently replaced #4 ignition coil. Using power balance test, confirmed cylinder #4 is misfiring but only on idle. Per TSB 19-2310 , suspect #4 direct fuel injector of leaking. The dealership will not help back up this problem. Need all 6 fuel injectors replaced to make my truck SAFE to drive.my truck has the 2.7L v 6 eco boost engine. A lot of these engines have this problem, Ford as of now does not have a recall but should. This problem needs fixed before someone gets hurt. This could cause a fire.

My 2016 F 150 has just 23,000 miles on it, always garaged and is in next to new condition. One day I went to start it, applying the brakes as you have to, they were firm until the vehicle started. Once started the brake pedal went right to the floor! I checked everything I could to see if the brake fluid was low or possibly a leak but nothing was visibly wrong. I took it in and sure as heck it was as I thought was the worst case scenario, the master cylinder. $800 later I was back on the road. The repair shop told me this must be a frequent problem as their distributor had several on hand. To me this is very dangerous and definitely should be a recall defect that should be reimbursable to the owner by Ford!
I have a 2016 Ford F-150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost engine with 92,019 miles. This morning (9/11/2024) as I headed to work, I pulled out to cross highway 54 and the truck suddenly lost power. It would only idle. As I tried pushing harder on the gas pedal, it would not come out of an idle and I barely made it to the center divide with multiple vehicles headed right at my drivers side going 65 - 70 mph. The check engine came on and stayed on. The truck was shaking and vibrating tremendously. I could not leave the truck there as it was blocking traffic in both directions. I was able to back up and cross back over the highway and pulled to the shoulder. I turned the truck off and started to make a call for AAA when I received a notification from my Bouncie. It threw a P2112 code throttle actuator “A” control system - stuck closed. After letting the truck sit for a couple minutes, I started it back up and was able to make it home.
It happen several times. I was driving at the 50 - 60 mile per hour. The transmissions unexpectedly downshift to first gear and the RPM when above 5-6K. I have to switch the gear to neutral and pull over to the side of the road. Then turn off the engine and turn it back on. The problem seems to go away for a few days. Then it happen again. It's very dangerous when this happen.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, with the transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.
Driver side door some times will not close and have to lock and unlock the door to get it to close, and transmission is making hard gear changes.....
This has happened on four separate occasions. When driving, we suddenly get a warning about hill assist, immediately followed by a warning about stability control, immediately followed by the check engine wrench light. At the exact same time, vehicle shakes very hard and loses acceleration, almost like the connection between the pedal and the engine was cut. Today, we were going about 70mph on the freeway when it happened, and all we could do was put the hazards on and let it roll in neutral. Luckily, we found a bit of shoulder to pull off on. Everyone was in danger because we lost the engine at speed. I'm scared to imagine what would have happened going up an incline. On each of these occasions, turning everything off, waiting, and then turning it back on was what it took for it to be drivable again. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they either sell us a 'fix' that doesn't work, or they tell us nothing is wrong with it. Looking at forums online, this problem seems to be one many people have experienced. None of them have found a solution. They suggest problems with wheel sensors and traction control systems. No one has gotten any answers from Ford. It looks like another manufacturer had a suit filed against them for the same problem. Either way, Ford is knowingly letting people drive around with vehicles that can lose engine acceleration power at any time, anywhere. We could have died today, and realistically, us and everyone around us are at risk of inj
Vehicle randomly shifts into 1st or 2nd gear while driving at highway speeds. the wheels lock up and skid, then enters into limp mode. After the incident, the vehicle displays a "check manual," "Blind Spot Detection," and "Cross-Traffic Sensor" light display. After a few minutes in limp mode, the vehicle will correct itself and begin driving normally. This happens 70% of the times i drive the vehicle. I have taken it to the ford dealer 3 separate times. The warranty company won't fix it because when they drive it, it doesn't recreate the issue, and they tell me to keep driving it until the transmission goes out completely.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The failure mileage was approximately 70,480.
Shuddering when going 40 miles per hour to 80 miles per hour
It over 2 years ago my truck was stalling out on me while driving and they replaced the vehicle throttle body. The same thing jsut happened last week and I again had to replace the same part. There is a recall for this part on f150s but not my year. It seems unreasonable to have to pay for the same new part in just over 2 years. I was told I should clean it every 15k now which also seems unreasonable and a cost to me.

When traveling at a higher rate of speed (30-60mph) the truck tries to downshift into a lower gear by itself. When this happens, the truck lurches back and forth and makes a grinding noise, the RPM will increase for the second or so that this is happening. This problem is very sporadic.
This truck is plagued with electric problems that the Ford dealership cannot solve. No other local ford dealer will even look at it. See problems below: Engine light with varying codes Tire pressure sensors stopped displaying on screen O2 senor codes Intake camshaft position sensor codes Electronic steering gear stop working Left half of steering wheel option wont work (cruise control, menu, etc.) radio stays on (even with battery disconnected at one point) taillights stop working intermittently (good bulbs, fuses, etc.) blinkers stop working intermittently (good bulbs, fuses, relays, etc.) windows rollup/down by themselves Synch displays messages at odd times while vehicle is in motion 911 assist tries to dial out AC stopped working intermittently Transmission tries to downshift by itself Four wheel drive selector knob wont engage sometimes Engine will run fine then continually die and rough rough (then will have periods of no issues.)

During the scheduled oil change service on 8/15/2024, I was informed that wheel lug nuts were swollen and tire rotation and inspection were not completed, even though I paid for a maintenance package. I replaced the lug nut two years ago for the same issue, and this will be my 3rd time replacing lug nuts on the vehicle.
Driving down the expressway at 70 mph, vehicle gear light indicators started to flash between gears, and vehicle abruptly entered limp-home mode and downshifted to 3rd gear, causing the vehicle to aggressively decelerate to the point of the back wheels squealing. If another car was in standard following distance, it would have been a certain accident.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the transmission was slipping and shifting hard. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission and another unknown part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.
3.5 Turbo Engine developed a rattle noise on startup. I have 149,000 miles change oil every 4-5000 miles. And it has been inspected by a mechanic that the cam phasers are making the noise. Ford has recalled or warranty the 2017 and newer F150s . But nothing on the 2016 model. I would like to start a record of the other 2016 F150 owners with the same problem. I contacted Ford and They want me to pay out of pocket for this repair which can cost up to $3,000 dollars. I would like to know if you have had any other complaints on this issue. Thanks Barry M
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the chassis frame underneath the vehicle was fractured and had started to crack. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
While driving at high speed, the transmission suddenly downshifted into first gear. This resulted in a near loss of control. From looking online, it appears there was a recall for prior model years related to the same problem.
The issues I have had with my 2016 Ford F150 appear to be related to the 6R80 transmission installed in the vehicle. I have experienced unexpected and unwarranted downshifting at highway speeds to lower gears causing the vehicle to decelerate significantly while in motion with traffic. This issue can then cause the vehicle to not start after pulling over to inspect the vehicle. This issue has been reproduced on at least five separate occasions over a two month period. I am attempting to seek repairs for this safety issue through an authorized Ford dealer and have been told there is a several month wait for transmission service due to the amount of other people having transmission issued as well.
While driving down XXX (XXX in Auburn Hills), a wrench light came on the dash in my truck and started experiencing acceleration issues. I also could no longer see that I was in Drive mode (vs P, R, N, etc.). After I got off the expressway and slowed down at the first light, I noticed it was hard to accelerate again and took some time to begin shifting thru the gears. Once I made it to my destination and turned off the truck, it would not restart, no engine turnover whatsoever. I managed to trick or reset the issue by shifting into neutral (still could not see that I was in Neutral because the transmission could tell where the shifter was at) and I restarting the truck in order to limp home. Truck did not start the next day. Had the vehicle towed to a dealership and the fix was the transmission "lead frame connector" was bad. I was told that there was a recall on this exact same issue on older model F150's but not my 2016. On top of that, I was just outside the "extended warranty" that I purchased when I bought the used truck in 2019. And I still had over 15,000 miles left of the extended warranty, but I had passed the end date first. Cost for fix was appr. $1100. 2016 Ford F150 w/ 5.0L V8 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Truck had defective lead frame assembly in transmission , caused wheels to lockup when downshifted to first while traveling at 65 mph. Ford says no recall, had to pay $1700 for transmission repair of lead frame , and every tire was flat spotted and had to be changed as well. And cost me $700 in towing fees.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe while starting the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact state that the smoke was thicker while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the turbo was replaced; however, the failure returned intermittently after the repair. The vehicle was taken to various independent mechanics and dealers, but none were able to diagnose the vehicle and determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

The contact was informed that the failure with the lug nuts was a common issue. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 78,766.
Truck idles rough and stalls at idle. Truck must be placed in park, restarted, and then placed in drive. This creates a very dangerous situation in start and stop traffic, starting and stopping at intersections, etc. I’m worried about the truck staling instead of paying attention to the surroundings. Based on my searches this is a very common problem that must be fixed before people are injured or possibly killed.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal amount of blueish smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. Tailgate is corroding at the hinge assembly, due to aluminum body panel and steel hinges causing galvanic corrosion. Possible that the tailgate could fall off on the road from accidentally pressing automatic tailgate release on key fob if the hinge fails and/or in addition to a person getting hurt when opening the tailgate, or climbing in the truck bed, whie loading or unloading a heavy object should hinges fail. Ford engineering basically told me "oh well" and offered no help. I live in the rust belt. This has taken 7 years to show up.
The recall currently on the 2014 F-150 our 2016 is doing the same thing. It randomly shifts down into lower gears or won't shift at all. Or it will go into 6th gear and not move.
On Sunday July 21st I was driving my F-150 when the check engine light came on. I took the car to an autoparts store for diagnostic check. The codes that came back are P0707 and P0706. On the drive home from the auto parts store the car slammed into first gear on a back road, then would not go back into gear when placed in park, then back in drive. I was able to turn off the ignition and restart the vehicle. At that time the vehicle did go back in to gear but was not behaving normally. There was also a wrench lamp that lit up on the dashboard at that time. According to ford this is what the wrench indicates "This light can be triggered whenever your onboard diagnostics II(OBD II) system detects a throttle control system or transmission-related problem". According to my mechanic these codes are the same codes associated with a recall that is already in place for transmission issues with the 2014 6 speed transmission, which is the same transmission I have in my vehicle. My mechanic states he as already replaced several transmission range sensor circuits on 2015 and 2016 models and they are the same issue that the 2014 is having. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but I did speak to the ford dealership where I purchased the vehicle new. They advised me to complete this report which tells me that they are likely seeing the same thing as my mechanic is seeing.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. Once the warning light was illuminated, the vehicle shuddered and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle entered LIMP Mode. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the mechanic linked the failure to oil consumption and referenced TSB: 19-2384. The dealer provided an estimate for the repair; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.
I had my vehicle in for a state inspection at a Ford dealership. They told me they could not remove the rear wheels because the lug nuts were swollen. In order to remove the rear wheels the lug nuts will be destroyed. What happens if I get a flat tire? How will I get the tire off? I have to get a new set of lug nuts and have them available if I ever want to get the rear wheels off. This is nuts (excuse the pun)! Ford should replace these lug nuts not me.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle began vibrating moderately. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the spark plugs and ignition coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
The lead frame on my vehicle is faulty, and will randomly switch into manual mode (it's an automatic transmission) while driving on the highway. This causes it to downshift to low gears while I'm driving on the highway. I'm driving 65+ on the highway and suddenly the vehicle downshifts to 2nd gear and I have to slam on the brakes. The engine light only comes on when the issue happens then goes back off until it happens again. Ford dealership confirmed that this is related to the lead frame and suggested it be replaced. From what I've read online, this is such a common issue that replacement lead frames for this model year have been on back order for several years, yet no recall has been issued for this model year, only the previous generation. My vehicle is currently in the shop so I don't have a repair invoice yet.
My vehicle started making a rattling noise I took it to a ford dealership and they said the can phasers need to be replaced i saw online that there was a recalled for the 2017-2019 models that were made between march 10th 2016 to November 30th 2019 my specific vehicle was made in the Dearborn factory where the issue was recalled march 9th of 2016 and I think that my year and model should also be under the recall because I don’t find it coincidental that my truck was built in the factory the day before the recall date and is having they same exact issue as the same make and models.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission lead frame failed. It was replaced by the mechanic. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The transmission suddenly shifted to a lower gear and locked up the rear tires. This suddenly decreased the speed while traveling in traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The service center scanned the truck and recorded the error codes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The transmission shifted erratically and the gear indicator on the dash blinked. After the sudden downshift the check engine and see service manual light came on.
Transmission does not shift into gear when idle and pushing in the gas pedal. Truck randomly shuts off when at stop lights and have to restart it. Transmission shifts randomly into different gears at different speeds while driving. Transmission struggles to shift into gear and when it does the whole truck shakes and loud clunk noises happens. Cruise control speeds go up and down while driving and engine has trouble shifting into gears to keep up speed.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine started overheating. The contact inspected the coolant reservoir and became aware that the coolant level was low. The contact refilled the coolant reservoir; however, two days later, the coolant level was low again. The contact related the failure with an unknow TSB; however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Exhaust manifold broken studs(bolds) causing exhaust fumes in cab. Carbon monoxide and also loss of performance. This is an ongoing issue with the 3.5 L equal boost motors. Pre 2017. The 2017 motor and further have been redesigned. Why aren’t they doing a recall on pre 2017?

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
