2015 Ford F-150 complaints

The transmission lead frame failed while traveling down the road under normal driving conditions. We came to a stop and the truck revved very high on its own. My husband shut the truck off and put it in park. Afterwards it refused to start it would not even crank. We had a mechanic hook his computer to it and received 3 codes for the transmission range sensor which tells the vehicle what gear it's in. I have had several shops and a dealer tell me there's been many instances of this part failing. It's about a $2000 repair. Luckily for us this happened on a less busy road but it was still dangerous to be in the middle of an intersection unable to move. I can only imagine how bad this would have been in a busy town. I have not had the repair done at this time but will be soon.

The seat belt does not click into place it pops open .

Panoramic sun roof sticks or wont open. I went to open it and heard a crack. It looked like the arm cracked. I taped it up because of the rain and now I am trying to fix it myself before the rain starts again. It has had many issues since I bought the vehicle brand new in 2015. I have never asked anyone to look at it because every experience I have had with this truck at the dealership has been very bad. The sunroof has been broken for about 9 months now. I found an online ford forum as I was searching on how to repair this and found out there are many more of us with the same issue. That is how I learned about this website. I never knew I could report an issue, and there have been many with this truck.

The airbag cover on the steering wheel is separating/cracking along the mould lines and near the emblem.

Moon Roof failure.

During normal highway driving, the vehicle abruptly went into "limp mode" with a complete loss of throttle control. The engine remained running, but I was unable to increase the speed of the vehicle. Once stopped, the vehicle showed several alerts on the dashboard: "Service Advancetrac," "Hill Assist Not Available," and "See Owners Manual." I was able to scan for fault codes and returned DTC P2112: Throttle Actuator Control System Stuck Closed. Upon further research, there is a Ford Technical Service Bulletin # TSB 16-0193 which states the vehicle may exhibit an intermittent loss of power and/or an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) lamp with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2111, P2112 and/or P2119 stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory." After restarting the vehicle, it returned to normal operation with the dashboard errors remaining. A Ford dealer is scheduled to look at the vehicle. I have been told they expect to diagnose and replace a faulty Electronic Throttle Body. Losing complete throttle control while driving on a busy highway is dangerous for many obvious reasons.

The dealer informed the contact about using aftermarket lug nuts. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.

On September 13, 2020, my father was driving his 2015 Ford F150, with me in the passenger seat. We were hit in a high speed head-on collision on I-55/I-240 in Memphis, TN by an oncoming driver, which killed both my father (the driver), and the oncoming vehicle driver, and I was taken to the hospital with injuries in critical condition. My father was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the morgue, but when I was able to return to the truck at the impound lot, I found no drivers side airbag in the truck. While EMTs informed me that the airbag was cut, it was odd that the airbag was not still in the truck. His cause of death was blunt force trauma, and if the airbag did deploy, it would have had to have been a part of the immediate fatality. If it did not deploy, it would also have been a factor. On the passenger side, where I had been, all airbags were still attached, but cut in order to extract me. In the days immediately following the accident, my lip was swollen from hitting the airbag, but there was also a piece of shrapnel lodged in my lip, confirmed by XRay, which later came out. I am concerned about both my father's fatality, and how the airbag deployed and what role it played in the fatality, as well as the injury of shrapnel getting embedded in my lip. I believe that the airbag could be a contributing factor in both issues.

PS111 Error Cody: Throttle Body Assembly is malfunctioning. My vehicle lost power steering and went into full shut down mode a dozen times over the course of driving it the latest ~500 miles with the truck shaking at a stop before restarting it and working again. Many times this could have been FATAL collisions as they happened on roads without shoulder lanes. This issue is SUPER scary to have your vehicle randomly shut off on you leaving you minimal time/distance to react and often in the middle of the road with multiple lanes. I've had it at the Ford dealership for 3.5 weeks where they are trying to fix it for $1,100, however, they said Ford currently has 15,000 of the same part on back-order. This issue should be a safety recall immediately, in addition to the shear number of the same part on back-order is clearly an indicator that Ford has an engineering issue and should be held liable to replace the part that frequently defaults at their expense but also to keep the roads safer.

The throttle body will randomly get stuck either shut or open and when this happens the truck goes into a “limp” mode that makes the truck lose all power. There is no warning of when it will happen or to get your vehicle checked. If this were to happen pulling into traffic it could cause a serious wreck since you cannot get the truck to accelerate in any way. This problem has been reproduced numerous times.

The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle however, the contact observed that the low oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact used an ODB scanner to diagnose the vehicle and retrieved DTC code: P0524 (Engine oil pressure low) and P06DD (oil pressure control sensor stuck in off position). The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

I replaced both driver and passenger side exhaust manifolds at around 80k miles. Now I have 113,000 miles and the passenger side is bad again! This repair is over $2700 per side.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH the braking system had malfunctioned and while pressing the brake pedal the vehicle did not stop causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. The front passenger sustained a right knee injury and the rear driver's side passenger sustained and left shoulder injury, both required medical treatment. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was able to be driven home. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.

While driving on a highway, the low brake fluid light came on. When I went to stop, the brake paddle went to the floor and I was finally able to get stopped. I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was empty. I looked to see if I could find the leak and could not see any signs of a leak. After filling the brake reservoir, I started to make my way home checking the brake fluid level every time I stop. While going up a hill, the engine stopped and a big cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust pipe and under the hood. The truck was towed the a repair shop where it was said that the engine through a rod. The brake reservoir was empty again also. The truck was traded in at Coccia Ford dealer ship in Wilkes-Barre , PA.

The vehicle was diagnosed by a dealer and confirmed that the window was off track. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. Defective lug nuts came on my truck which I bought new in 2015. The Bradenton Auto Nation Ford dealership says that they can’t rotate my tires due to the swollen, defective lug nuts even though I paid for that with my oil change. I feel it is Ford’s responsibility to replace these defective parts to keep my truck safe and drivable in the future. There should be a recall for this issue.

The contact’s husband owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact state that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from under the hood before the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact stated that she was able to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle hesitated and stalled and then failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

REGARDING: 2015 FORD F150 WITH 20,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. -Made 1st report with NHTSA.gov as well as Ford.com back in June 2023 about the vehicle throwing codes for anti-lock brake system and communication loss of ECM/PCM. As well as, the system NOT ALLOWING the brand new battery to ever be fully charged. -Upon 1st reporting these issues, the vehicle was placed into the "Friendly Ford" service center in crosby, tx to be worked on and issues fixed. $1,376, later, we were contacted by the service center to pick the vehicle up, saying issues were now FIXED. (their prognosis: auxillary transmission pump replacement 6/19/2023) After picking vehicle up, all seemed to be running correctly. Until, the vehicle decided to do the exact same thing again...no charging the battery, not starting engine, turning itself off, ect. just got the vehicle out of the same service shop,, this time them claiming that it was now the transmission control module that needed to be replaced. this service trip costed $1490 (july27, 2023). When the service worker went out to bring the truck around for us to leave, he had to attach a battery booster to the battery, just to be able to start the vehicle....DING< DING< DING!! Not fixed......right ?! CORRECT!! it is NOT!! SO, here we are again (07/29/2023) with the code reader at Autozone saying "anti-lock brake system/ ECM/PCM (U0151-00 and U0100-00). Battery tested to be in good working order, as well as the entire starting system, itself is in complete work

On another occasion while driving 70 MPH, the contact smelled an abnormal burning odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion, while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic that stated that the timing belt and camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted but provide no assistance. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,300.

The contact stated he was able to restart the vehicle but continued to experience the failure while driving to the residence. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the throttle body to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the same failure in April 2020. The contact took the vehicle to back the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the throttle body to be replaced a second time. The vehicle was repaired but experienced the same failure in July 2023. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

My wheel lug nuts are swollen and a lug nut wrench will not fit on them. This appears to be a manufacturing defect which has been reported by many F150 owners.

My 2015 3.5l ecoboost had the Exhaust manifolds replaced back in 2018 when my truck had 51,909 miles on it and now at 90,000 miles the new manifolds warped and snapped off a stud bolt to which the American Fork Utah Ford Dealership said that since it was over a year ago even though it was a known issue that was covered under warranty I will have to pay out of pocket over $2,000 per manifold... this is a known issue with the manifold warping and causing exhaust leaks when the stud bolts snap off. Ford needs to recall this design flaw and pay for the fix.

Panoramic roof leaks water which can cause water to drain into vehicle. Causing mold to accumulate (black mold) which is hazardous to a person’s health.

Tire: P265 / 60 R 18 On June 25, 2023 at 1100 hrs, the left rear tire began shedding chunks and immediately had catastrophic tread separation. This caused a temporary loss of control narrowly missing collision with other vehicles. When the tread separated at least one large piece did not tear free and acted like a flail significantly damaging my vehicle (left read qtr panel and truck bed). This sudden tread separation was a significant safety risk to me and my passengers. Vehicle was inspected and tires rotated 1 week prior to the incident by a qualified mechanic. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the incident. Mechanics inspected the damage and tires and noted that the matching tire on the pax side shows signs of possible tread separation. Insurance Co was notified and assessment is scheduled.

Vehicle was traveling down the roadway, attempted to make a right turn when vehicle lost steering control and vehicle drive straight into the curb and over the sidewalk. After which the truck threw a code for "power steering assist fault" This feature should not be disable while In motion. It caused an accident.

At 63000 miles in June 2021, randomly while driving, it presented warning "Hill Start Assist unavailable" and other traction control warnings,, throttle goes to idle in traffic, vehicle coasts and dies. Key off & on restarts it. Code P2112. Ford dealer replaced throttle body motor under extended warranty on June 3, 2021. MotorCraft Part has 2 year warranty. On June 17, 2023 (14 days out of part warranty), at 93,000 miles truck does identical behavior. Starts & runs fine, presents warning with random frequency (4 times this morning) at various speeds from 30 mph up to 75 mph in freeway traffic. Throttle goes to idle, truck coasts at 3-5 mph until ignition key recycled. happened this morning at 65 mph on freeway in construction zone with no safety shoulders. VERY dangerous!!!

Shortly after turning on the rear window defroster the vehicle interior began to fill with a strong electrical burning odor and then within about 30 seconds the back glass shattered with a loud pop that was very startling and distracting. I took photos but plan to have the window replaced as soon as possible since I need it to get to work. This happened while driving at a slow speed but if it had happened at high speed then it could have caused me to swerve and lead to an accident. I called the Ford dealer and they were not aware of this being a problem. However, the retail glass repair shop said that they frequently see this issue with F-150s. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. Aside from the electrical burning smell there were no indications the impending glass shattering. I did some internet searching and found that many ofther F150 owners have had the exact same issue and all report that it occurred when the rear window defroster was activated.

We are not sure what component or system failed or malfunctioned. The truck is available at this time for inspection, there wasn't much left of the truck after it caught on fire. The passengers in the truck were in danger, because they didn't realize the smoke they were smelling was coming from the truck they were riding in. It was not until one of the passengers said his arm was hot, it was then they realized the truck was on fire. The fire seemed to have started under the seat. I am not sure what caused it. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to this incident. The vehicle has been inspected by the insurance company, in which the truck is a total loss. The sheriff office and Fire Department were on the scene.

Brakes failed as per recall. Ford dealers unable to repair for up to 60 days. Ford motor company unwilling to provide loaner/rental vehicle.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brake warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

No lights previous to incident. Sudden engine & speed malfunction . Yes, it happened multiple times heading to the ford dealer-2 mi away. We kept the hazard lights on. Sudden loss of power while driving, engine goes into limp mode, down hill assist light and altrack light comes on. Truck restarts but again limps unexpectedly. Took it to dealer -it was the throttle body that had been replaced 3 1/2 years ago by dealer.

The truck shuts off at red lights. This is NOT the feature for gas saving. The engine completely dies. This is extremely dangerous. You are stuck in running traffic until it starts back up. The ford dealer said there are no service bulletins and they've never heard of it. But the F150 forum is full of examples, and Ford is not aware or fixing the issue. This happens several times a week.

The truck has been acting up for several months now. it has been throwing out strange codes when attempting to start {parking brake malfunction, oil light, power train system default, ect} and often times it WILL NOT CRANK unless we hook it up to a battery charger for just a bit of time. The truck has a new battery that was installed by autozone, where it was bought {6 months ago}. Since we were in town, we stopped by autozone to get them to attach the code reader. {power train system and ABS malfunction} while driving, later in the day, the trucks auto start/stop system turns itself on and stops the truck dead in its spot.(danger: we were pulling onto the road {fm 2100} during rush hour traffic, when the trucks system went haywire and stopped us dead in our tracks in the center of both turn lanes and two of the main lanes.) there was no restarting, nor were we able to get the gear to change into neutral in order for us to be able to move it out of the main roadway. when we were finally able to move it, we hooked a fully charged jump box {one rated for up to semi truck sized vehicles} to it to get it started, and it simply would not crank for quite a while. at this time, we took the opportunity to recheck the oil level, which was set at full. After several minutes of begging "the truck" to just start so we could just take her home, it finally cranked up and home is where we took her. the truck has 19771 original miles on it. it was drove off of the show room floor, back in 20

Vehicle shifts into 6 gear on takeoff causing vehicle not to accelerate and causing vehicle to creep when I needed acceleration almost causing accident with oncoming traffic. While driving 60 miles an hour the vehicle shifts down to 2 gear. I dropped the vehicle off at the ford dealer, They diagnosed it to be the connected molded lead frame input shaft speed sensor these are not readily available with no estimate when they will receive this part. I did a search and found that there was a recall on this up to 2013. this part almost got me killed and now they can't even tell me when this will be available my vehicle has been at the dealer for almost 3 weeks waiting for this part. they are telling when they receive this part it will cost approx. $900.00 for the repair I feel this should be included in this safety recall this is a very dangerous defect that almost took my life.

Swollen Lug Nuts at just under 47,000 miles requiring replacement by Ford with the same faulty Lug Nuts at my expense for $156.00. No recall per Ford. They will need to replaced again at some point. Faulty design !!!

F150 starts to lose power and shudder/vibrate about 60% of the time when driving. Picking up speed, truck lost half power and engine light starting flashing. When it caught gear and speed, the light stopped flashing but the truck continues to shudder and vibrate like crazy.

The oil pan is needing to be replaced for the 3rd time in 2 years. I am told this is a very common issue and that ford just redesigned the pan. There is a waiting list and the part is backordered. Also, the cost of the repair is over $3,500 with the new part. The old part the cost to repair was $1,400. Ford has not offered to cover any of it. This is a safety hazard and a huge financial strain on families to get fixed.

While driving with my family the truck gave several error messages and a check engine light. I pulled over immediately because the truck lost power and the stability control started shaking violently. I was able to safely maneuver out of traffic, but I cannot imagine what would have happened if I was on a busy highway instead of a small side street. Apparently this is an issue that has been fairly common with Ford from what I have seen online. The vehicle is at the mechanic now for repairs. He has determined that the Throttle body needs to be replaced.

I let my 83 year old mother use my truck due to expected extreme weather in Houston. While making a right hand turn the steering seized and she had to brake hard to avoid hitting a mailbox. Neither the tow truck drivers nor I could budge the wheel, even to allow it to be put on a flatbed or towed backwards without being sideways. Several error codes paged through the dash upon failure but the only other symptoms was that she said it felt like the steering wheel wanted to fight her right before it happened. Diagnosis - Failed EPAS Electric Power Assisted Steering rack. I take issue with a steering assist system being allowed to catastrophically fail with no warning or ability to manually maneuver safely to the side of the road. My mother could have been killed!

Front left brake line ruptured suddenly. Defective part in possession and available for inspection if needed. Brake line ruptured at the rubber just below the metal fitting closest to the engine. This instant and unforeseen failure resulted in an immediate loss of vehicle brakes endangering the occupants of the vehicle as well as other nearby motorist. This part has yet to be inspected by any agency. After a complete loss of brakes, a warning message illuminated on the dash displaying “brake fluid level low”.

I was pulling out into the road, and the Engine cutout, then slowly came back. I did some investigation, and the truck transmission cooler lines had corroded through. Luckily I was not in heavy traffic. There had been no obvious signs of failure. I've owned numerous other vehicles while living in Northeaster NY with no major corrosion failures.

The ABS warning indicator light was illuminated. While looking under the hood, he noticed that the supply booster spring clamp was not in the correct location. The contact stated that he sustained injuries to his neck but no medical attention was provided. The vehicle was towed out of the rock pit by a relative. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 2,280.

Accelator stuck to the floor a couple of times when gassing it to pass other cars on the roads. The pedal would actually will stay pressed down even when my foot is off the pedal, it will speed the truck up even when pressing down hard on the brakes. when i got it to stop and cut the truck off while in park and turning the key the rpms were going absouletely nuts. looking to see if this is a common occurance. thanks in advance!

When driving my truck on the freeway the steering became hard to turn and to control the truck. Steering wheel would turn and click but hard to keep straight on road. was able to drive slowly to a auto repair shop, almost nearly crashed into railing on freeway. Took 190 days for ford to deliver the part. (Sounds like this happened before to other vehicles). The issue was the steering gear stoped working.

The exhaust manifold on the drivers side has sheared a bolt on the back of the manifold, and has warped. This is more noticeable when the engine is cold, but is also noticeable after the engine has been off for 10-15 minutes. On acceleration, there is a chirping noise that will go away when the metals have expanded and "sealed" the leak. When cold, exhaust fumes can be smelled in the cabin of the vehicle. This issue appears to be common among the truck variant of the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine (11-16 F150, 15-17 Expedition/Navigator, 15+ Transit). There are numerous posts online from many different forums about this exact issue. Ford has even redesigned the manifold to include an additional stud hole, but there is no TSB or FSA from them to replace this on affected vehicles (BL3Z-9430-D, DL3Z-9431-D) This issue was determined through my own inspection of the vehicle. I can bring the vehicle into a shop for an official diagnosis if necessary. There are no warning lights or messages on my vehicle. This initially started around April 5th.

I am not sure this is the place for this, but here goes.. my truck dropped my phone connection I tried to reload it, I deleted it and tried to re-install it. The truck told me it was looking for "BT". I called to Sync and they walked me thru a few things and said I need an upgrade, I have a 5.8 and I need a 5.11 program. My radio is a basic radio, no navigation nothing special. So I took it to the dealer and they tell me I need a APIM and the price is off the charts. I am not sure if this all is connected, but I also have problems with the radio controls on the steering wheel on an intermitten basis. I apologize if this is not the place for this complaint but I had to start some place, please advise where I might go from here. I don't feel an 8 yr old truck should be having issues like this already.
