I was recently informed through the news that there have been complaints of downshifting unexpectedly in my year and make of truck. (2014 f-150) I have noticed similar occurrences in my vehicle at low speeds while in parking lots. I will be pulling out of a spot with no gas pressed, essentially just rolling out of the spot when it downshifts and jolts forward unexpectedly. I have not had any accidents from this as I am able to quickly apply the brakes but after hearing about others' issues happening in same year of vehicle, it made me concerned that this is what was happening for my vehicle. If I were in a situation where pedestrians are present this could risk an accident that could cause harm to someone. This unexpected jolt has occurred on a more frequent basis several times per week in the last few months. I have not had this inspected by mechanic or other entity but may in future if this persists and further reports highlight the problem. There have been no other warning signs for this issue.

This truck has suffered all sorts of issues relating to the lead frame inside of the transmission. This lead frame houses the speed sensor, range sensor ,and temperature sensor. With extensive repairs the issue keeps arising. Ive had 3 new Remanufactured transmissions installed im currently about 6,000 miles into my new transmission with the same issues. Erratic gear changes. Ex. 4th gear to 1st without warning. Loss of 1st,2nd and 6th gears. Becomes stuck in 5th. Just a random array it seems to be with this one almost everytime i cross the 130F degree trans fluid temp the problems start. I have done alot of research into this as i am a technician as well and the only thing i can come up with is bad part production for the sensors and lead frame.
Truck started shifting funny recently. Kept not paying it any attention but had a harsh sudden downshift at 50 miles and hour to first gear. Thought it blew the engine the RPMs were so high. I hit the brakes and the rear wheels locked up around 43 mph. No issue since but I know there was an issue with previous years
Vehicle downshifts randomly at any speed. Speedometer and tach go all over the place, and truck downshifts to 2nd. can't replicate it for the local ford dealer. At higher speeds tires skidded as it downshifted into second gear. recently downshifted into 1st gear and wouldn't shift until I shut the truck off and restarted it.

OK, the first problem would be that there was a fuse, apparently, that was engineered too small and eventually would burn up, making a bad connection, which would. all of a sudden shut your engine off. Mel, I was at highway speed, doing 6570 miles an hour, and all of a sudden my engine just cut right out. no power steering, no nothing. just shut right off wouldn't exactly call that a safe situation. Poor engineering second issue would be the fact that you have obvious engineering problems with the fact that they're putting carbon based steel parts or studs in the exhaust manifold that are obviously just going to rot away and it costs thousands to have that problem taken care of. Obviously you don't put that type of steel in an aluminum product because it's not going to last. It's everyone. Everyone knows this. So that's about about it. It's enough to **** **** the Pope. And I think you would have to say that it's a pretty it's a pretty important safety issue. It doesn't matter to me whether or not you know, it was within a warranty. or not. It's an obvious engineering issue or they're just they just don't care. It's the cheapest way to go so they don't give a **** They know it won't happen under warranty. So why worry about it? And that's about it, man. Don't count on me. Everybody in afford again.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with a defective cam phaser. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I remote started my truck and let it run to warm up. I got in and pushed the brake pedal and it went to the floor. I turned the ignition on and the information center said, "Brake fluid low". I turned the truck off, got out and looked under the truck for signs of brake fluid (there was none), opened the hood and my reservoir was empty. I took the master cylinder off and the brake booster was full of brake fluid. I had to replace both, the master cylinder and brake booster.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was installed with an undersized fuel filter. The vehicle failed to start after waiting for some time before it restarted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The master cylinder failed and caused brake fluid to be sucked into the vacuum brake booster. The result is total hydraulic failure of the brakes and a safety hazard. This is a known failure for the 2014 F150's with the 3.5L Ecoboost for which there was a recall. My truck with the 5.0L motor uses the same part.
Transmission erratic shifting. Downshift to first gear on highway.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 10–15 MPH, the speedometer decreased to zero. The vehicle began to jerk, lost motive power, and stalled. While driving at high speed the vehicle downshifted to first gear. There were no warning lights illuminated. While traveling at approx 55mph the transmission suddenly down shifted into a lower gear, tires skidded briefly, and speedometer bounced down to 0mph. Seemed to resolve itself until the following day when the vehicle will not shift out of 1st gear at all and speedometer will not move. After some research, it appears to have the same symptoms as recall 19S07 but my VIN is not included. Would like to get the reprogramming done so the sudden downshift will not happen.
I'm currently experiencing problems with what I believe to be the Electronic Power Steering. As I'm driving it feels as though the power Steering goes in and out as it becomes difficult to turn the Steering wheel. It's currently an intermittent issue. I see Ford had recalls for this on other manufacturers dates and would like to know if my vehicle would be added to the same safety recall?
The transmission slips in first gear when driving under 10 mph, and also slips from 3rd to 4th gears when driving at highway speeds. This is similar to what has happened on the 2011-2013 F150's that were recalled. 2014's should have been included as well. Driving at highway speeds, the transmission downshifted and I was no longer able to accelerate and dangerously but cautiously moved to the slow lane and off the highway. During this time the wrench warning light did come on. I have paid Ford thousands of dollars to fix the issue, but doesn't seem like it got fixed as it's still doing the same thing. I have reported this to multiple ford dealerships since I bought the vehicle in 2015 and not one has been able to fix the issue. this is what they fixed below and still did not fix the issue. AUTO TRANSMISSION HAS P0722, NEEDS A LEADFRAME OT START
Started the truck by using the remote starter got in the truck and while still in park position the rear slide window popped and shattered, come to find out has happened to lot of other people. They said that the defroster comes on automatically along with the remote iven if not needed . Just bought the truck
Steering has become hard at the start of a turn and threw the turn.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and remained on the floorboard and the vehicle failed to slow down as intended. Additionally, the contact stated that on two separate occasions, while in drive and reverse, the brake pedal was depressed, and the brake pedal remained on the floorboard and the vehicle did not slow down as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake master cylinder and brake power booster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.
The truck’s steering wheel locks up and breaks get hard when doing a turn making it hard to stop and almost being in two accidents a service advancetrack light comes on and stays on till truck is turned off.
Radio works sometimes and you can't use you hands-free phone. Lights interior and running lights won't turn off until you go down the road a bit but when you shut the truck off, the lights stay on and run your battery down. Also when you swap out your Trans oil you start having shifting problems. I'm so over it. Thanks.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to shift gear as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle independently shifted from 6th gear to 2nd gear and the vehicle ended up sideways in the middle of the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a failed output shaft speed sensor. The contact was informed that the output shaft speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.
When driving on the interstate the truck suddenly downshifted causing the tires to lock up and the vehicle to swerve out of control. There is already a recall for this issue for Lead Frame in 2011-2013 vehicles. The recall needs to be extended to the 2014 model vehicles as well.
Two issues. The first issue arose due to a leak in the "y" pipe under the air box. Upon replacing that connector, the throttle body had to be removed to get room to reinstall. Upon reinstallation of the throttle body, the truck falls into limp mode unexpectedly during normal driving, in traffic. Installed ned throttle body from parts store and still throws the p2112 code.
Back passenger side small window (one of three across the back, with a sliding center) spontaneously shattered tonight. It’s in the upper 30s and nothing hit it. I had just started the vehicle and began to move when two of my daughters and I heard a loud sound. My daughter said the window shattered. It’s still altogether but is spidered all over. There’s no evidence of anything hitting the window inside or out. Weirdest thing. I looked online and it seems this has happened to a lot of ford truck owners. The speculation is the rear defrost over heating. But I think since I saw so many online that had the same thing happen to them, I wanted to file a complaint. Ford should be replacing these windows. Obviously it’s a manufacture defect. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle traveling at approximately 50 MPH. No air bags were deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The contact's husband was treated at the scene for neck and lower back pain and was released by EMS. However, he later visited an area hospital to schedule a follow-up appointment, as he was advised by EMS. The vehicle was driven from the scene but not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 189,000.
Downshift CRASH of truck, oss failure, i have video, built 11/13, 2014 ford raptor with 6r80 transmission. Ford refuses to pay for lead frame replacement. Injuries and truck has over 10k in damage, another car was totalled and man injured. This OSS defect is deadly. Need help.
Catastrophic failure of automatic transmission cooler lines after passing through deep puddle. This resulted in immediate loss of power while on 4 lane divided highway. The lack of power and the inability maintain consistent speed placed both me and other drivers in a hazardous situation. In addition the need to have to have the truck towed placed others in harms way. Ford dealer inspected and confirmed complete rupture of transmission line near transmission cooler. In addition, an insurance appraisal was also performed. There were no indications of transmission problems prior to hitting the puddle, no warning lights, transmission temperature was normal, no visible leaks or drips under the truck, and no problems with shifting up or down.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and the steering wheel became firm. The radio and heater also became inoperable. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact stated that the vehicle remained in third gear for approximately 15 minutes. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 179,000.
While any driving conditions or speeds for no reason at all abs, traction, emergency brake system warning lamps come on. My brakes are good. Took truck to a shop and had brakes inspected and nothing is wrong with the brake system. When turn off vehicle and restart warning lamps turn off. Sometimes the check electronic differential warning lamps comes on with the 3 brake warning lamps.
Transmission cooler line failed while driving at highway speeds. This resulted in a complete loss of transmission fluid resulting in loss of power and drivability on the highway. Also resulted in trailing cars being covered in transmission fluid, obscuring vision. Vehicle engine and exhaust were covered in transmission fluid and smoking heavily indicating potential for fire. Vehicle was driving perfectly until the cooler line failed at a line juncture. Check four-wheel-drive warning light came on a few minutes before total loss of power occurred. Vehicle was inspected by a dealer who stated that the transmission was ruined due to the loss of fluid.
On three occasions over the past two weeks, my truck downshifted abruptly and without warning while traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour. The first time it occurred, it must have shifted into first gear because my body and head were stopped from hitting the steering wheel thanks to the seatbelt. On the second and third time the downshifts were hard, but I suspect they were into second or third gear. On all three occasions the speedometer went to 0 mph then bounced up. The tachometer raced to 5,000 to 6,000 rpm (possibly higher). There was a fourth occurrence that wasn't as bad. I was traveling approximately 60 mph when the transmission shifted down to maybe third or fourth gear, then it shifted up, then back down several times. During this fourth time the speedometer dropped to zero and the tachometer was up and down. A wrench symbol popped up on my information center between the tachometer and the speedometer. The transmission temperature gauge went to the lowest reading. In each of these four cases, I turned my hazard lights on, immediately shifted the transmission into neutral, and coasted to the side of the road. I turned off my truck. Then, I cranked it, and it ran fine afterwards - until the next occurrence a week later, then a few days later, and finally twice in the same day. I have parked the truck since the last occurrence (twice in the same day). Thankfully there were no vehicles immediately behind me in any of these four events. If there had been, it would
Traveling on highway at 60 mph in 6th gear. Car downshifted to 1st gear on its own causing rear wheels to lock and making me lose control. I was able to safely pull over without getting hit. This is the same issue in the recall for 2011-2013 Ford F150’s. The same thing is happening in 2014’s.
Throttle body failure causes truck to go into 'limp-home' mode, meaning a significant reduction in acceleration occurs without warning. This is extremely dangerous when driving at highway speeds, turning with oncoming traffic, ect. Many times we must pull over and the truck has to be turned off for several minutes, before we can start it again and continue on our journey. $800+ repair cost is what we were quoted today by the local Ford dealership. Ridiculous! This is a known issue with other 2014 Ford models, but not covered under CSP 13N03. Why is that? Many complaints and two class action lawsuits in California that are pending and it seems like NOBODY cares.
The contact's father-in-law owns a 2014 Ford F-150.The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS warning light illuminated with an audible chime sounding three times. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective ABS. The contact was informed that there might be a recall on the vehicle and was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,511.
While driving 50mph the transmission downshifted to 2 gear and the rear end locked up and I slid. I was able to shift to neutral and gain control. This has happened twice at that speed and you can feel a jolt like it’s happening at lower speeds. I believe this is an electrical issue in the transmission as the gear indicator on the dash will flicker between “D” and “2”. I have a video of this that can be shared. I have not called Ford yet but there does appear to be a recall on the 2013 F150 models where there is an issue with the lead frame which sounds very similar to what I’m experiencing. My 2014 has the same transmission 6R80 that’s used in that truck as well. There was no warning when this happens.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon accelerating into traffic, the vehicle was slow to respond. The contact stated that the vehicle would upshift or downshift erratically. The check engine and air bag warning lights were illuminated. The contact went to the local dealer and ordered the parts for the repair. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Dick Masheter Ford Inc. (1090 S Hamilton Rd, Columbus, OH 43227), where it was diagnosed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.
My truck is randomly down shifting on its own at highway speeds sometimes even shifting to reverse and causing the speedometer to not work the truck has around 78000 miles on it and I see there were a lot of trucks recalled for this dangerous problem. When I contacted ford they say mine was not recalled even though it is doing the same thing the other vehicles with the 6r80 transmission is doing.

My vehicle shows a wrench on the dashboard and loses power and will not accelerate. We took it to an auto parts store to have a diagnostic test performed and it shows that the OSS ( Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit) fault. In my 2014, this is inside the transmission. After doing research, I found this was recalled in 2009 to 2013 models. Could this be an issue in my 2014?

My truck stalled and died while entering an intersection. I was nearly broadsided by another vehicle. We both could have been KILLED. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE. Ford is well aware issue and has issued a TSB about it to their dealers. It is called a FUSE 27 in the Ford f150’s and it causes IMMEDIATE LOSS of power and potentially control. The power steering and brakes are effected. Someone is or more likely has been killed because of this. Please do your job. Events like this that are KNOWN by the manufacture should be IMMEDIATELY addressed.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
