My wife was driving my truck and the gear light came on the dash. The truck went into limp mode in the middle of traffic and about caused her to get hit from behind. I took the truck to Long Lewis Ford in Prattville Alabama and was told that I was a year out of warranty for the recall that is on the transmission for my truck. Ford knows they had issues with 2013 F150's but now they do not want to fix my transmission. So I have to spend $800 to 1k on fixing my transmission when Ford knew they have an issue and are willing to let people drive unsafe vehicles.
Ford recalled 107,850 2013 Ford F-150 trucks with 5.0-liter or 6.2-liter engines due to a transmission issue. The recall was issued on June 10, 2019, with the recall number 19V433000. The transmission could unexpectedly shift into first gear, regardless of the vehicle's speed This could cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash I took the truck to Ford to fix and they did not fix the issue after saying they did and confirming there was an issue. This appeared 2 months ago and since then I have been getting the run around from ford.
This is on my 2013 Ford F150 XLT 5.0 Engine with 6R80 Transmission: While driving on a highway or city streets, the vehicle will drop down gears, a wrench light on dash will display, the airbag light will illuminate, the speedometer will quit working and the engine will be gone. Also on the third time this happened, the check engine light will come on with Code P0720, Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit fault. Ford has known about this problem and has issued TSB's. It is related to a faulty Transmission Molded Lead Frame. This is a safety issue and Ford needs to replace this without limits on time or mileage. See TSB 16-0008

Due to an unresolved issue that Ford motor company is aware of with the Transmission “Molded Lead Frame” the truck will drop down into 1st gear from highway speeds and causes a huge safety concern if there should be someone traveling behind me. The speedometer will stop working as well as the mileage will disappear off the screen/all other information will go blank. I will have to stop the truck, turn it off and back on again and it will drive normal. When I bring to dealer; they state ford should be covering this issue: when I contact ford I am offered no assistance or remedies. They referred me to bring this safety issue to your attention. It is very concerning and I cannot afford another car at the moment.

Truck would not shift out of first gear after coming to a stop and then accelerating. I had to pull over, shut truck off and restart truck. This has occurred 3 times in 2 days. Noticed wrench light came on indicating a problem. Hooked to code reader and got codes po722 (output shaft speed sensor circuit no signal) and code b00a0 (occupant classification system). After doing some research I found that Ford has had some recalls and service problems with this same issue. I was never notified by Ford of any recalls or service issues with this vehicle. I only found out after doing research on what the codes meant and how to try and fix the issues. The engine could have blown up from running high rpm’s because it wouldn’t shift. After reading other people’s experiences with this same issue I am extremely concerned for the safety of myself and others that this issue could cause a serious accident. The first occurrence was 12/19/24 and then again 12/20/24. I plan to take the truck to a repair shop as soon as I can get an appointment. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Vehicle would not start and left me stranded. There seems to be a known problem with the fuse opening on the ignition system that is contributed to poor engineering on Fords part. There is a bulletin within Ford on repair. This is a tremendous safety problem.
Front passenger door and rear driver side door lock does not unlock from the outside when the truck is unlocked. Manually have to get inside the truck to unlock the doors. Eventually the front passenger door lock got stuck and the latch was not even working to keep the door closed.
Driving along and then I get a quick illuminated wrench symbol which disappears. All the dash information disappears but the tach still worked but the speedometer stopped working but an illuminated airbag symbol came on and stayed light. The truck was sluggish and didn’t want to shift were it should have. This first time this happened on Oct 29, 2014 then again Dec 9, 2014. The mileage on my 2013 Ford F-150 truck with the 6R89 transmission and has 133, 657. I know this is related to the Molded Leadframe in the transmission because I was notified by Ford in May 2019 and they said it could be fixed for free as long as there were trouble codes (P-0720 and P-0722) if not they wouldn’t cover it. There was a warranty extension but for 10 yrs or 150,000 miles which ever comes first. I called Ford customer service on Dec 11, 2024. Long story short the guy said he was sorry I was having this issue but the extended warranty expired last year. I bought the truck new in Dec 2013. I said it’s still a safety issue so they should still cover it but he said no because of the time gram even though I was under the 150,000.

PURCHASED A USED 2013 F150 IN SEPT 2024. VEHICLE SEEMED FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH WHEN TRANSMISSION DID THE SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. IT DID IT TWICE IN THE DISTANCE OF A FEW HUNDRED FEET. LUCKILY WAS ONLY GOING 25 MPH BUT WIFE LEFT PERMANANT HANDPRINT IN THE GRAB HANDLE. FINISHED THE 3 MILES TO THE HOUSE AND HAS SAT EVER SINCE. AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT'S ALL HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO TOWN. WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR/RECALL WORK.
ADDITION TO COMPLAINT #11630474 DID RESEARCH ON VIN TO FIND OUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL.

[XXX] . I was driving with cruise control at 60mph when the speedometer suddenly fell to zero and the truck jerked momentarily into low gear which schreeched the tires due to the sudden and uncontrolled deceleration. Fortunately the road was dry and no vehicles were close behind me. And fortunately I was driving (and not my wife or kids) and I wasn't in busy metro traffic which surely would have caused a multi car crash. No malfunction/idiot lights appeared in the dash display. The local mechanic read a diagnosis as the OSS and said to have Ford repair it. Ford repaired P0722 and P012B and charged me $1817.45; paid in full using my credit card. Vehicle was going around 55 mph and dropped out of gear and into limp mode or 1st gear. Happened yesterday as well around 55 mph with cruise control on. Used a scan tool and no codes given.
We had recall work on the truck done on Nov 14, 2024 for the power train randomly downshifting to 1st gear without warning. Yesterday, Nov 30, 2024, I was exiting the hi-way at approximately 50 mph when the truck jerked, tires squealed, throws me to the steering wheel, and goes to limp mode. I was able to get it into a nearby parking lot and turned it off. The truck will not start now. This is exactly what the recall said it was supposed to fix.
1 WAS DRIVING 55 MPH & IT LOCKED UP ON ME SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR & IS NOW STUCK IN 1ST GEAR. I ALMOSTED WRECKED LUCKELY I WASN'T FAR FROM HOME & IT'S BEEN PARKED SINCE.
I was recently driving on the freeway in the #1 lane when my 2013 F150 began to experience a loss of power. While traveling at 70 mph, I noticed that my transmission had shifted and was stuck in 5th gear. I continued to depress the accelerator with no response. I then felt a sudden jolt from the transmission shifting to a lower gear and continued to travel. There was no warning light indicating that the truck was experiencing a malfunction. On Nov 26th I took my truck to an authorized Ford dealership service department who performed a diagnostic test on the transmission who recommended an immediate transmission flush and service, which I scheduled immediately. While on scheduling the repairs to my vehicle I learned that there was a recall on the 2011-2013 Ford F150 trucks. I learned that NHTSA issued a recall on 2/11/2019 and 6/10/19 due to the component failure of the transmissions in those vehicles causing the loss of power while driving. Both of these recalls involved either electrical component failure or mechanical failure of the parts installed in each vehicle that involved the powertrain. I was never notified by the NHTSA or Ford Motor Corporation of the recalls on my vehicle. During a phone conversation with Ford I was told that there is no longer a recall on the 2011-2013 F150. I was also told by a representative of Ford that there is no record of Ford sending me notification of the time of the recall. Here are the recall numbers that I found: 1. 19V075000 2. 19V4330

I was entering the highway at approximately 55 mph when my truck suddenly downshifted into a lower gear. The vehicles behind me had to shift lanes to avoid a collision and I had to shift lanes until the truck up shifted again. I have not scheduled an appointed with the dealership yet but plan to. There are no warning lamps or other problems prior to this incident.

Since I purchased the vehicle I have found numerous it’s that are claimed as recommended fixes as the dealer has told me. And now that I keep seeing the rear camera show up for recalls is what made me mad enough to write this. My vehicle has the rear camera that will go off and either not show anything as if I was not in reverse which I am at the time, or it just shows a blue screen. And I have seen other people complain about this on YouTube for my model/year. Also the transmission lead frame which they did end up actually saying when it went that there was a recall for this, BUT if a certain code supposedly didn’t show up on the code reader it was not covered under the warranty. Which of course mine did not have the correct code so I had to pay out of pocket. But coincidentally when I picked it up they said they gave me a discount which everyone knows when a dealer states something they are charging there is no change in the price, but that went from $1150 to $850 I believe. Also the timing chain is known to jump and cause engine failure. Next this stuff may not have to do with safety so I’m sure you will also deny responsibility for is the rear main seal is known to leak. The turbo leaks behind the passenger side front tire. And the driverside back split power heated window is known to shatter. Can anyone tell me how all these can be on the internet as problems and “recommended fixes” then now the new ones get recalls for the same issues and mine is not covered and the new
Driving to work this morning after remote starting my truck due to cold weather. 10 minutes into driving, the driver side of the 3-piece power slide rear glass shattered with no impact or any other damage. Online searching indicates it is a frequent problem and likely caused by the rear glass defroster.
The vehicles lead frame is causing truck to down shift no matter the speed then rev super high and barely move when trying to accelerate after. Speedometer, odometer, gauges(everything on the dash) goes to 0 or disappears and a wrench pops up. Truck got towed to a dealership where they updated the pcm and told me the problem was solved. Hours later i was about to enter the highway and the truck downshifts and will hardly move. Taken to ANOTHER dealership where on the phone beforehand the guy confirmed the lead frame issue and told me everything would be fixed free of charge do to recall. Days later they tell me they cannot do it because the warranty expired? i’ve never had this problem before and truck is under 150k miles. rather upset considering how dangerous this is especially if i made it onto the highway and this seems to be a common issue.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
