The same exact issue as stated in recall 19S07, I was driving on the highway at highway speeds 75-80 miles per hour, and my truck suddenly and instantly down shifted directly to 1st gear. Catastrophic failure, I am extremely lucky that I did not get in an accident or die, and that my engine did not explode from the sudden RPM jump.
My 2013 Ford F-150 started demonstrating operational transmission issues in October 2024. I took the vehicle to a local transmission shop and they advised the issue, a defective molded lead frame in the 6R80 transmission, was actually covered under a Ford safety recall (#19S07) which was issued prior to that date. I subsequently had my truck towed to Sarasota Ford (Sarasota, Florida) where it sat for several months. In January 2025, I was notified my truck was being brought in for evaluation. After several delays (i.e.-dead battery, incorrect recall, etc.) my truck was diagnosed. While the service techs were able to duplicate the transmission failure (stuck in 1st gear, wrench displayed on dash display, speedometer and odometer stop working), they claimed they were not able to obtain the needed diagnostic codes. After several more weeks of attempting to work with Ford's corporate office to find a solution, I colllected my truck from Sarasota Ford on January 31, 2025. Six r, days later, I delivered my truck to Vic's Performance Transmission and Automotive Inc. (1201 11th St E Palmetto FL 34221). Within two to three hours, the staff at Vic's Transmission were able to diagnose my truck as having a faulty transmission molded lead frame. They made the repair within a few days and my vehicle has been operational since then. On February 19, 2025, I mailed a letter outlining greater detail of the aforementioned events and requested assistance from the President of the Ford Customer S

Transmission shifts down into first gear with no warning at all speeds. This puts the truck into limp mode, no power, no speedometer or gages- Causes truck to come to a sudden stop due to loss of power.
Transmision will suddenly down shift from 6th gear to 1st gear while traveling at speed of 50 - 60 miles per hour. Yes vehicle is available for inspection. Vehicles rearend locks up and causes loss of control of vehicle. Has not been inspected by a Ford dealer or independent. Vehicle has not been inspected by Manufacture, Police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. Problem started mid to late 2024.
I was driving at about 65-70mph. The yellow wrench light came on. My spedometer went to zero and my digital screen went blank. I exited the road and restarted the truck. Everything seemed to be operating properly so I got back on the road. I got back up to 65-70mph and then heard a loud bang from the engine and my back tires locked up. I was able to exit the highway safely and called a tow truck. 1. Powertrain, vehicle was repaired 25Mar25. No I do not have any of the old parts. Disposed of by dealership. 2. Easily could have caused an accident. I was very lucky. 3. Dealership confirmed the problem and installed new tech. Adaptive transmission system. 4. We paid cash. As there was no accident or injuries, no police report was necessary. 5. Yellow wrench light appeared on the instrument display, then spedometer went to zero even though I was traveling 65-70mph. Additionally, my main digital display went blank (not the radio/nav display). This was the first time any of these symptoms happened. Although my 2103 is not within the Ford recall window for this identified issue, it is quite clear that this is incredibly similar, if not exactly the same safety problem. We received a letter from Ford some years ago, acknowledging the potential issue, but it said no fix was available at that time. No recall was issued for my 2013 Ford F150 XLT EcoBoost.

Truck dropped into lower gears without notice from high speed (and at low speeds). Engine revs and actually speeds up without foot on gas pedal without warning. Speedometer will stop working when this happens also. Almost caused accident. Other similar vehicles from 2013-2019 are in recall for similar issues. Ford won't fix and says it is not an issue for this vehicle.

My transmission unexpectedly shifted into first gear. This happened at a high speed. Also on another occasion the transmission would not shift out of first gear. I took it to a Ford dealer for repair. The repair was completed and I was charged $1641.25. I questioned why this repair wasn’t covered under safety recall number 24S37. The dealer stated my VIN number was not included in the recall. I should contact the NTSB. I am now requesting that my VIN number be included in the safety recall 24S37.

Traveling on highway at speed of 65 to 70 mph and vehicle suddenly downshifted and experienced a loos of power. dashboard went off and I lost control of the vehicle. my safety was put at risk due to loss of power of vehicle. I could not identify anything wrong with the vehicle before it happened.
My 2013 F-150 suddenly downshifted (without warning) from sixth to first gear at 55 mph on March 21, 2025. My engine was at risk of blowing out because of that incident. Fortunately, no one was tailgating me at the time, also. A "recall repair" was performed at a Ford dealership on June 27, 2019. This vehicle is currently being diagnosed at a local transmission repair shop.
While in traffic on the highway in St. Louis at 65 mph the transmission shifted from 6th gear to 2nd gear causing the vehicle to slow very suddenly. I came close to getting rear ended. Horns honking getting flipped off etcetera. I was not expecting the shift as I was neither accelerating nor decelerating until the transmission down shifted. Engine rpm went from 1200 or so to at least 6500 rpm as the rear tires broke loose and skidded. My own research showed cracking of the wiring and/or loose connections can cause this. Wiring harness replaced inside of the transmission and computervreflashes were required to fix it.
Truck has been thrown into limp mode multiple times with codes P0720 and P0722 being thrown per OBD scanner. Turning the truck off and on gets rid of the wrench and check engine light and allows the transmission to work normally again. The first two times were on acceleration, months apart. It now does this consistently at highway speeds so I am unable to take it on busy roads, the last time I was on the interstate I was going below traffic speed with hazards on until the exit because the truck slowed from 80 to 40. It couldn't get up the ramp after pulling off so I took side roads home. As far as I can tell this is associated with customer satisfaction program 19N01 and Ford sold these trucks with a faulty lead frame. The truck is 12 yrs 120k miles instead of the 10 yr 100k warranty Ford offered for this part specifically, I don't see how the age makes a difference if Ford has admitted to using faulty parts in the transmission already
I had the transmission issue that's been reported of downshifting to 1st gear will traveling at speeds around 65 mph and recalled on F150 trucks, but for some reason my truck was never under recall so I had to pay $5700 for a new transmission before it killed me. If I had the same issue that has been recalled, why wasn't I covered under the recall?
While driving on highway the vehicle suddenly shifted into first gear causing my rear tire to lock up and the momentary loss of vehicle control. I deviated from my lane and as the rear of my vehicle skidded in a fishtail type action. Following this incident the vehicle has shifted into first multiple times at lower speeds in conjunction with loss of speed indication.
This is in regard to the current investigation concerning the transmission downshifting unexpectedly. My 2013 F-150 has done the same thing several times since I bought it new. Fortunately I was not driving at a high speed but each time lower than around 35 MPH. It has a 6 speed auto transmission and would drop down into 1st or 2nd gear and show it's in tow/haul. Also sometimes when I first start to drive it, the transmission is in tow/haul when I never selected that. I notice when I hear the engine rpm high and notice I don't have good pickup speed. To remedy both issues I push the button in on the gearshift lever and it immediately starts to work properly. I have reported this to the Ford dealership maintenance representative a couple times but they said they never heard of any trucks doing this. Nothing was ever done about it. I continue to drive it and have 138,000 miles on it. I'm letting you know this because according to what I am reading, 2013 models are not included in the investigation.

Vehicle dash lights will come on while driving (wrench light specifically) and vehicle looses all power and drops to 0 RPM 0 Speed. This has happened multiple times and is extremely dangerous! After 4 months, we finally got our appointment at a Ford dealership where they diagnosed the lead frame needs to be replaced. Truck is a 2013 Ford F150 with 114,000 miles and there is a bulletin for this concern but the truck is out of warranty by age. The total bill is $1,769.54 and I contacted Ford to see if they would help for customer satisfaction and was told no.

Three times in the past couple of weeks, my vehicle has lost power at high speed. Once when I was trying to merge and again while just driving at high speed and giving it gas to avoid a situation in front of me. The first time it happened, the gauges in the fuel economy mode screen stopped working, including the speedometer, giving the vehicle Gas did nothing but rev the engine up like it was in neutral. I coasted to a parking lot on my trucks own forward momentum, shut the vehicle off restarted the vehicle. The gauges were working again, and the transmission seemed to be working as well. The second time it happened to me was while I was driving and it did the exact same thing, but I did not have to pull over to restart the vehicle. It started working again suddenly, at that time, the gauges were working. My husband was on the highway trying to pass another vehicle when he gave it gas, the truck suddenly lost all power, the transmission sounded like it was in neutral revving up due to giving it gas. Then just as suddenly it slammed really hard back into gear with a loud boom, so hard in fact, he thought he was hit from behind and was jerked forward in the vehicle violently. I contacted the dealership who works on our car and was told without a check engine light or a code there’s nothing they can do but to bring it there when it does that. The problem occurs intermittently and corrects before we can get to the dealership. I told the Ford dealership about the recall on the six
The lead frame on my truck has began to fail. Throwing the code p-0722. Yes it would be available for inspection upon request. The lead frame failing causes the truck to shift erratically. This was almost life ending when it shifted gears on the I-44 going 70 MPH. Nearly ending my life and that of my passenger. The problem has been reproduced by an independent service center. No it hasn't been inspected by police, insurance, manufacturer. No there were no warning lights before hand.

I was driving on [XXX] in Georgia. I was going around 75 mph and my transmission dropped from 6th gear to 1st Gear my speed dropped from around 75 mph to 25 mph in less than a second. My safety and the safety of other vehicles/people were put in danger, I almost lost control of my steering and hit somebody in the right lane next to me. Three Vehicles behind me had to slam on their brakes and swerve around me to avoid rear ending me. When the vehicles transmission dropped gears rapidly, at the same time I got a gear wrench symbol across my cluster display, and I lost functionality of the vehicles mph gauge and gas gauge. The fasten seatbelt light was also on but no audible warning tone was heard.. The vehicle also lost acceleration power. I was able to get the vehicle home and turned the car on and off and everything went back to normal. This is an intermittent issue with no warning when it will happen. There was a recall from ford for a programming issue with the tranny and currently a CSP with campaign #19N01 for a Transmission molded leadframe extended coverage. Basically the lead frame needs to be replaced to correct the problem which is 4,000 to 6,000 dollars. Ford will not fix my lead frame because I am past certain dates and over the mileage by 2,200 miles.
