Door was creaking and making several popping noises when opening and closing. That went on for about a month, going from just a creak, to a pop, to several pops. Now there is very little sound, but the door occasionally resists closing completely. Took it in, and was told a piece inside had popped away from the door. They said it would require body work, but the warranty had run out to cover it. They will reach out to Ford for assistance. They stated that Ford has been "really good" about covering the repair, but could take up to 3 weeks to hear back from Ford. I was told it was ok to keep driving it in this condition, but to not roll the window down. Several articles I've found indicate this is a known problem, and that there's a possibility the door could open while driving. Please push Ford to issue a recall! This is very dangerous!

My drivers door arm receptor has broken free of its spot weld inside the door, causing severe safety issues. [see Car and Driver article BY ALESSANDRA KAESTNER PUBLISHED: JUL 14, 2023] Same issue. This happened to me today 09/20/2023. * I cannot fully open drivers window because of this defect. Major safety issue if my vehicle goes into water. * I cannot open the door from outside, if locked. Major issue to persons with disabilities who can't climb across the console or back seats. I pulled a leg muscle today doing so. My back hurts also. Ford spot-welded the door arm receptor on a piece of metal that is too thin to provide support. <I PICTURES IF NEEDED> This is enough for a recall. When will you do this? What is taking so long? Already tired of not being able to use drive thru because my window will not lower. A major inconvenience.

The driver door began making a loud popping noise when I would open and close it. About a week after I noticed the popping sound, the driver door wouldn’t close. Upon further inspection I realized that the spot welds on the door assembly bracket have broken. I had to position it carefully so that I could close my door all the way. My driver side window will only go down about 4 inches now. There were no lights indicating any issues with my door. If I open my door all the way then it won’t close again, the broken door assembly bracket prevents it from closing. As it is a Sunday morning, I have not had this issue inspected at the dealership yet, but I plan to call first thing in the morning to have it looked at.

The drivers door made a loud pop when opening and it is now difficult to close and to open. it scrapes and pops out of place along the hinge and on the inside of the door. at one time it was not shutting at all. Hopefully it will not do this again, but something is broken. I was travelling when this happened with a passenger in my car and if m y door would not have shut at all i was far away from home and it would have been a huge inconvenience! I took my car to the dealer i bought it from in my town and he took a video of the noise it makes and the difficulty shutting and opening. He then called me the next day after talking to the techs that they are aware of this happening to some of the Escapes and i will have to seek a private shop to get a new door as he says this is not covered under warranty. This is preposterous and i cannot believe there is not a recall on this issue after i have read about this issue online and it is happening often. There was no warning, just a pop and immediately problems getting the door open and closed.

While travelling we got a message on our dasboard stating that the AWD had a fault and needed to be serviced. We called the dealership and they said it was okay to continue to drive the vehicle. However, we made the soonest appointment available with the dealership, thinking we were still under warranty. We received other warning messages: hill assist not working, pre-collision assist not working, auto hold not working, advance auto trac needs servicing, see manual, get system serviced. The cruise, or speed control also stopped working. We drove 1,100 miles with all of this going on trying to get back home. We went to have it checked out at tje dealer on 9/5/2023. We found out it is not under warranty. It cost us $195 for the computer to tell us it is the AWD module and, Ford wants another $800 to fix it. We found an article at Customer Satisfaction Program 21B19 – AWD Module Replacement – 2020-2021 Ford Bronco Sport, Escape, & Lincoln Corsair – Ford https://ford.oemdtc.com/7846/customer-satisfaction-program-21b19-awd-module-replacement-2020-2021-ford-bronco-sport-escape-lincoln-corsair. On Sept.3, 2023 I went to my car and opened the driver's door, there was a creaking sound I never heard before, I thought someone had hit it in the parking lot but there was zero damage to the outside of the door. As I opened and closed it a few times, the sound got worse and after a few times, it hardly closed. When I went to shut it, I had to almost force it to close. This is a problem, and it came out of, nowhere. It is certainly a safety concern. On the morning of Sept. 4, 2023 I had my boyfriend look at it and he could see where the problem is, it's the hinge area on the driver's side towards the front of the door, where it attaches to the car.

Driver side door started to make a noise while using it. Shortly after the door was hard to close and open at the same time and a pop sound happened and door could not close at all due to door arm breaking loose inside of door. The driver's side door made popping or cracking noises when opening and closing. It eventually locked in place while open, and it could not be closed. I took it to the dealer where they initially said that the check strap needed to be replaced. After the part arrived and they disassembled the door, it was discovered that the welds on the component that holds the check strap in place were broken. The car was moved to the body/collision shop for further assessment. In the meantime, I've discovered this has happened with several other 2020 Escapes, but there is no recall as of yet. Obviously, this is a manufacturer defect that needs to be addressed in a more global and urgent manner.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
