May 31, 2022 My check-engine light came on a few days earlier. I took it in to my automotive repair shop for a diagnostic to determine the issue. It was determined that cylinder #4 was misfiring. The coil was identified as faulty and replaced. Diagnostic cost: $149.99 Replacement coil parts and labor: $163.75 June 2, 2022 Check-engine light comes on again. automotive repair shop replaces the spark plug in cylinder #4 as a precaution, even though the spark plugs were less than a year old. No charge. June 6, 2022 Check-engine light comes on again. This time I mentioned to the mechanic that the car briefly misfires after it sits overnight. I could also smell a coolant odor. This was their “ah-hah” moment. They removed the plug from cylinder #4, pressurized the coolant system and noticed coolant leaking into the cylinder. A phone call to Ford confirmed that this was an issue and the only repair; engine replacement. June 7, 2022 – June 17, 2022 The engine was replaced. Total cost: $6,543.59 While I waited, I scoured the Internet and did some research into this issue. I found that I am not the only one who has had this problem. This is an issue with the Ford 2.0 Liter Turbocharged engine, even at miles much less than my 121,958.

On June 30, 2021 I and my husband just arrived home. My husband had been hospitalized 10 days and was still very weak. I was bringing him home and once I was in the driveway I put the car in park and got out and went to him on the passenger side to help him out. I took him inside and got him settled. When I returned outside to retrieve items from the vehicle, I reached in on the driver side to push the start button to turn off the engine. Immediately the vehicle started rolling and I was knocked down by the door and drug 20-30 feet . The front driver tire ran over my hand and continued to roll into the yard of the house across the street. the neighbor called for an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital. I was treated for road rash and released. I was thankful to be alive under the circumstances but was still concerned for my husband and had no idea why the car rolled. As far as my safety I feel that this could have killed me and or possibly the small child that lives next door had he been out on his tricycle as he often is outside playing. I have not had the vehicle inspected because I thought maybe I had somehow done something to cause it to roll but I know I did not. I am assuming that this recall # 22S43 is likely the reason. I was made aware of this issue with certain years and models by a family member. I did not get any type of warning . I am enclosing pictues where I was injured. Prior to the accident, I had full use of my hands but I still have limited use with my

Ford Edge (2016) was experiencing a loud ticking/knocking noise during idling and after startup. A short period after the noise started the vehicle became disabled completely on the roadway. The vehicle is out of the five-year warranty period by a year, but still within the mileage period (currently has 46,700 miles, with the limit being 50,000). The 2017 model of the same vehicle has a recall for the same issue, but Ford is not acknowledging the issue for 2016 models.

When getting tires rotated found out that the lug nuts on my wheels had expanded and had to get them removed by force. Found out this has been occurring to other Ford vehicles for years. Now I have replacement lug nuts that extend too far out and if hitting a curb or something would definitely ruin the wheel. Should not be having this type of issue at my expense for faulty lug nuts.

Filed May 31, 2022VA

Lug nuts on vehicle were swollen and wound not come off according to the dealer. This is a known defect by the dealer and Ford Motor Company. All lug nuts have to be forcefully removed and replaced at owners expense. There should have been a recall on this known issue already.

My brakes began leaking. I noticed this when the pedal sank to the floor during a prolonged deceleration and I had to pump the brakes to successfully stop the car. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appeared prior to the soft brake pedal. I took the vehicle to a local dealer (Priority Ford in Norfolk VA, see invoice for phone and address), who diagnosed it as leaking rear brake lines and replaced two lines. My safety and the safety of others was certainly put at risk. The reason I knew how to recognize and respond to the brake leak was that it has happened to me before -- my 2016 Ford Edge had a front brake line fail earlier, prior to Ford issuing a safety recall for front brake line leaks. Now my rear brake lines have failed... I suspect it warrants a similar safety recall.

Not having the vehicle for that long, I came across the check engine light that went off. The code that mechanics pulled was a misfire in a cylinder. I thought this would be an easy fix of spark plugs and plug wires. This was not the case. I spent $200 at a mechanic shop that said it was a fuel injector problem. This did not fix it because they would clear the code and it came back. They did further research and found out there is a Technical service bulletin report. TSB 19-2346. I took it to Ford and they gave me the print up of what needed to be repaired. Cost over six thousand dollars to repair. I was wondering why I had to buy coolant at one point as the level would drop. It was leaking into the cylinder. I would get the white smoke coming from my exhaust as well. My safety issue was that it would overheat and possibly catch fire from other cases I heard. The dealership confirmed the issue and they are well aware of the problem since 2019.

My Ford Edge 2016 with just a little over 58,000 miles has a Timing Cover Oil Seal (MTCS), a Transfer Case Input Shaft Seal (FTCI), and the Axle Seal (FRAS) leaking. This is very sad that a vehicle with this few of miles has all these issues already. I am sure my Edge is not the only one having these issues. This vehicle does even leave hardball roads nor does it drove hard. I can't image what it would be like if I was rough on my vehicles. Jason

I purchased this vehicle used from a dealership and I have had it for six months and now I was going to replace the break shoes front and back. Now the problem came when I tried to remove the lug nuts and I could not! Ford decided to put metal caps over all lug nuts and failed to tell the customers that they can not get them off with the standard equipment given by factory. There is no lug wrench or socket that will fit the lug nuts with the caps on them. Here is the “rub” I called the dealership and the service technician said “ to get a oversized socket and bang it on and then remove each lug nut , then replace all of them with new ones without the caps on them.” WOW. Ford has to know that this is a issue everyone that owns one has the same issue. Now imagine getting a flat on the interstate with the family at 1:30am.Now you would have to have the vehicle towed and find a ride at 1:30am. Now that would be a 15 minute job if Ford would do a recall and replace all of these ignorant lug nuts. Wow what a waste of time and money. The engine has a manufacturer's defect under Technical Service Bulletin 19-2208. Coolant is entering the cylinders. Personal safety is compromised because the engine can fail at any moment. Navigating safely through traffic with an engine fail and then being stranded on the freeway (at night in freezing cold temperatures) is a serious hazard. The problem has been confirmed by a few mechanics. Also, Ford Motor Company issued a TSB 19-2208 detailing this problem for the vehicle. Mysteriously, this TSB has suddenly disappeared but I have a pdf of their advisory detailing the defect. Ford Motor Company requested the vehicle be inspected by a certified dealership, who confirmed the problem. Ford is acknowledging the original engine manufacturer's defect. Mechanics report this is not a wear-and-tear issue. An engine warning light was the first indication of the problem. The problem appeared just after the manufacturer's 100k mile/5yr warranty expired. The vehicle has 105k miles. The vehicle was 3 months past the warranty when Ford was first contacted and notified of the problem. I have been in contact with Ford Motor Company for a couple of months trying to fix this problem. They are now refusing to discuss anything about the issue. Originally, they acknowledged the issue and their TSB proves they were aware of it even to the point of detailing the procedure for diagnostics and repair. Ford also previously reimbursed full expenses for the repair of their defective engine. Now it se

Lug nuts are 2 piece: The thread piece and the chrome head piece. The pieces became loose from each other, then the thread piece rusted and caused the chrome piece to swell and deform so the lug wrench could no longer fit on the lugnut, thus making it impossible to loosen. This can be a major problem when changing a flat tire. I needed to take my car to an auto mechanic to have several of the factory installed lugnuts replaced. I will need to buy replacement non-OEM lugnuts so this doesn’t happen any more. I read that this is a problem happening on many Ford vehicles.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
