I took my car in for routine oil change and was told that my car had needed the PTU transfer case unit fixed. They told me it was leaking and it would soon stop my car from operating. I looked into this and found the same recall was done for other vehicles but not mine! I am sure my vehicle was missed during this recall because the exact same is happening to my car!!!! This is NHTSA Campaign ID 14V002000. This recall was done on 01/06/2014. There are also other recalls I believe my vehicle is eligible for that my vehicle was not recalled. This process should be a priority to get correct and it is embarrassing I am having to go through this. I hope someone is able to remedy this as I believe this is a manufacturer defect, that I deserve to have compensated for.

My 2013 ford edge (SE, 3.5L) the brake suddenly went down with absolutely no warning or lights indicating a problem. Press very hard and almost down to the floor to stop my car. Very dangerous! I thus sent the car to ford dealership (Dean Seller Ford, Troy MI), was told the brake booster is down and have to fix it immediately because I cannot drive without the trustable brake. Finally cost me $904 out of door. I then found there is a recall (Bulletin 13N02) that recalls exactly the same issue of brake booster on ford edge cars from 2007 to 2015, it also extends the warranty of booster to 10 years and 150k miles. My 2013 ford edge only have 79000 miles why my car is not covered under that? This could be a very serious safety issue due to the problem of the brake!!

The brake pedal goes to the floor before the brakes engage even a little bit. Almost rear-ended another vehicle due to the brake failure. Took it to the repair shop 3 times for repair. They bled the brakes several times which helped for a day and the problem returned each time. This has the potential to cause a severe accident if it is not resolved. Internet articles I've read and my personal experience indicate that replacing the master cylinder, brake booster or bleeding the brakes does not solve the problem. What is my option for a next step?

After having master cylinder and brake booster replaced at owner's expense, brakes failed completely at 113k miles. Dealer now says the Hydraulic Control Unit must be replaced. In July 2022, brakes gave out twice, pedal going all the way to the floor; hard to stop. Then it mysteriously went away. Happened again in November 2022. Found out Ford issued an extended warranty (13N02) on a faulty brake booster. Took it to Galpin Ford. They replaced the booster under this warranty. Yesterday, 12/12/22, we had a bit of snow, wife drove the car, almost crashed as brake failure yet again! Took it back to Galping Ford who says 'they cannot find anything wrong'. That's BS! This Edge has less than 70,000 miles and is driven by a middle age female (not being aggressively driven). We bought this vehicle used from Galpin Ford and they DID NOT inform us of this problem. Now we have a dangerous car to drive; I can't sell it or I'm liable! There is NO recourse for us owners and we are paying the price (both financially and with our lives) because NHSTA has failed to issue a recall. Get these cars fixed or off the road! Owners should not have to bear this financial burden.

My issue is that there is a door ajar alarm that I brought my vehicle into the dealer to fix. With this alarm you are unable to lock your doors while inside the vehicle. Someone tried to steal our vehicle from us with us inside, just walked up and opened the door. The attempt was unsuccessful and we got away but it had me thinking that if we had small children in our vehicle, they could easily open the door and fall out. The dealer said this is a known issue and it would cost over $500 to fix but recommended NOT fixing it because it would just happen again, it's a bad part/design they said. I did call Ford Motor Company and they advised me to report this to you so I'm reporting this before someone gets killed from this known issue.

While driving my 2013 Ford Edge Sport down the highway at 60mph the traffic light changed to yellow and then red as normal. When I went to apply the brakes the brake pedal suddenly lost pressure and went to the floor before the vehicle was able to stop. By this time I was in the middle of the intersection. By some miracle I was able to avoid a potentially serious accident as luckily no cars were in the intersection. The brakes were fine one moment and then no brakes the next with no warning lights or error codes. The brakes haven’t changed since then. Still no pressure and I’m afraid the drive the vehicle. My vehicle has yet to be inspected/diagnosed, but after doing extensive research online I’ve found that this is a very common problem with the ABS system. Apparently the valves get stuck open allowing fluid to flow freely past them and the system needs replaced. How is this not a safety issue. I’ve read that so many people have almost been in serious accidents were death could potentially occur. I don’t understand why this has not been recalled. The brake fluid is at normal level and the brake booster was previously replaced by Ford a couple years ago. In that instance the brake pedal was very hard and the vehicle would not respond to braking. That issue was fixed by Ford on their dime and I was told it was some secret or unpublished recall on certain vehicles, depending on where they were manufactured. HCU unit master cylinder and brake booster failure all at one time (ford knows of this issue that’s why there’s a recall on the brake boosters ) I was driving with my family in the car going about 70 mph down the highway and the brakes gave out causing them to go to the floor and barley able to stop super spongy and barley made it home without using the e brake the next day we limped it to our local dealer ship and they said the HCU unit brake master cylinder and brake booster had to be repair due to no fault of our own now this repair wasn’t cheap at all at a cost of 2000 dollars. Always have had the dealership service the vehicle when it was due or recommended . We’ve never had an issue with the brakes on this vehicle before no warnings no nothing just cruising down the road had to hit the brakes due to traffic and nothing, very scary and the HCU units master cylinders and brake boosters in these cars need to be recalled due to safely issues not just for the drivers and passengers but for everyone around on the road . Think god I was able to stop if not we would have ended up in the back of a 18 wheeler in a fiery crash and wouldn’t be able to type this complaint . The units were inspected and was told they need to be replaced but dealership service advisor said they see them all the time for no apparent reason just driving and a failure occurs.

We were driving in the mountains and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor before engaging. This caused us to almost hit a vehicle in front of us, swerved successfully, but then my wife and I have whiplash pain from the instant, hard stop. Took it to a Brakes Plus and they said air in the lines was the cause and flushed the lines. Worked for a few days, then almost got into another accident with the same issue of the brake pedal falling to the floor before engaging. Took it back to Brakes Plus and they notified us that Ford is well aware of this issue and extended the warranty of the Brake Booster, which is known to fail. Took it to Ford, they happily replaced the brake booster, under the warranty, but then said this is not the issue, we need to replace the HCU Assembly and replace the master cylinder. Which, conveniently, is not under warranty. Ford is playing with peoples lives, knowing having faulty parts installed on vehicles and not taking ownership and replacing the parts needed to safely operate their vehicles. When I asked if I can complain, they gave me your web-address instead of trying to make things right. The only response I received worth a penny, is keep your receipts, maybe we can reimburse you, if I/m not dead, when we decide to take ownership.

The brakes on my otherwise perfect 2013 Ford Edge recently went to the floorboard while I was driving. The first time, I could have killed a pedestrian--which should shock everybody including Ford. The second time, I could've killed several people in the car in front of me and started a deadly chain reaction. Ford dealers have told me that there is a recall on the 2011 & 2012 Ford Edges for a replacement of the ABS module--BUT NOT FOR MY YEAR! People are going to die if the greedy Ford is not FORCED TO RECALL THIS YEAR TOO. I've been told by numerous independent mechanics and have spent hundreds of dollars which leaves the brakes still not working properly. Ford dealers have quoted me $2000 + to replace the ABS module (ECU & HCU). I am a senior citizen and cannot afford anything near that. PLEASE ... PLEASE HELP ME AND DEMAND THAT FORD RECALL THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL DEFECT IMMEDIATELY.

The component involved was the Throttle Body. Late post but this happened 7/5/22. The vehicle unexpectedly (and without any warning) lost power while I was driving on the freeway. All the power was off in the vehicle. Fortunately the freeway wasn't as crowded as it normally is and I was able to coast over the shoulder. I let the vehicle rest and tried to drive (while on the shoulder to get to a safer/wider part) again but it quickly lost power again. When I got to a safer part of the shoulder I called for a tow truck. After having a previous issue with this vehicle (brake booster went bad which caused the brake pedal to get hard to press and car would also shut off) I looked into other common issue with this vehicle make and model. I read the other horror stories of this vehicle losing power while driving and hoped to you know who that this wouldn't happen to me while my child was with me. Ford had a recall for the brake booster issue but it didn't match my VIN. Apparently Ford supposedly narrowed the issue down to a few manufacturing sites and did not include all vehicles made during those years. It is clearly a systemic issue for this vehicle, just like the throttle body issue ( and others) the Ford is too cheap to fix! I am going to assume this is the same issue with my throttle body not being recalled for my specific VIN since my vehicle wasn't made at a certain manufacturing site (even though Ford is clearly using the same parts on their vehicles). It's BS and dangerous!
