Since first purchasing the vehicle from Larry H. Ford in Mesa, AZ in 2019 and returning it for repair due to inoperable brakes, the issue has returned time and time again. It is now happening again where I either have to either press the brake peddle completely to the floor or the vehicle will not come to a complete stop at all. This has become extremely costly and I would like to know if this is an issue specifically associated with the 2013 Ford Edge and find some resolve.

The abs module has gone bad numerous times and is in a shop again for the third time in two month. I've havent been able to drive my car for two months at first it was the master cylinder and then the abs unit and then the brake booster and now the new abs unit again! After extensive research my husband and I found that this is very common in my vechile model but not enough cars to be issued a recall. Which I think is a massive safety issue because your brakes are very important. If your brakes fail you, you could not only injure yourself and your passengers but others around you. Right now my vehicle is at my local ford dealership and they also agree that this is a very common problem and ford isn't recalling them and making customers pay thousands of dollars for the new part and service. I was even told some times you don't get a working abs unit and have to keep going through the service part warranty until you get a good one. Which I feel causes more lost time with my vehicle staying in the shop until I get a good one.

Door ajar shows not closed, it’s closed. This is a safety hazard. Plus the interior lights never shut off and drain the battery. Other similar car with the same door latch assembly in ford cars have been recalled, why not mine. Multitudes of Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same problem. Just look online. Please make Ford accountable for this model as well. Thank you.

This is in regards to Recall # 14S10 (Ford) and NHTSA # 14V393000. I was driving my 2013 Ford Edge when turning there was a pop, and vehicle would not engage into any gear causing an extreme safety issue. After being towed, it was noted that the intermediate shaft was broke and sheared the gears off. This is a very uncommon finding. We contacted Ford and was told there was not a recall on this vehicle. Therefore, we replaced, through Ford, the intermediate shaft and 2 new CV axles (ordered through a parts store). Once repairs were completed, the CV axle seal leaked and was also replaced. It started shaking upon acceleration. We then replaced the motor mounts and struts in an attempt to fix the problem. We also put another CV axle on passenger side at that time. At this point, after speaking to several different professionals regarding our problem, we were then informed that there WAS a recall for this very problem on 2013 Edge. We contacted Ford again and gave them the recall numbers. They then agreed that the recall should have included this vehicle but that our particular VIN number was not included in the initial recall. We were advised by Ford to bring the vehicle in and let them inspect it. After inspection, they found that when the intermediate shaft went out, it damaged the transmission. They also stated that looking into the history of this vehicle, this is not the first time for this problem with this particular Edge. They stated this should've been included in the o

Three times over the past month I have experienced a soft brake pedal that would go all the way to the floor and the vehicle would fail to stop normally. The first two (2) times where at low speed approaching a gas pump. More frighteningly the third time was at 45 MPH with my young daughter in the vehicle and evasive maneuvers had to be mad to avaoid a collision. After the first time I had the brake pads changed. Earlier on the day of the third incident my vehicle was at a national service center for a brake inspection, because of the alarm from the second incident, and no issue was found. The issue is completely random with no noise, dash lights, warning, or indication of impending failure at all. I have read multiple accounts of 2013 Ford Edge drivers with accounts matching mine detail for detail. Reports of multiple brake booster and master cylinder replacements and HCU replacements with no success. This is extremely dangerous and will eventually result in the loss of life for someone. This needs to be addressed by Ford via recall immediately.

With no warning lights or other apparent issues brake pressure suddenly disappeared resulting in the brake pedal sinking to the floorboard before the vehicle would even slow down or stop. This first happened in September 2022. The issue can better be described in both NHTSA Complaints 11339440 and 11343191. The brake master cylinder was replaced. It worked until May 2023 and I am now having the same issue. There is almost no brake pressure. The problem has yet to be resolved. This is a very serious safety risk for both the passengers of this vehicle and others on the road. It is almost impossible to come to a full stop within a few seconds.

The brakes failed to function with no warning whatsoever! The pedal immediately went to the floor with no result. This would have cause an accident had we not been on an empty road with no traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection. The is a HUGE risk to the safety of my family and other drivers and pedestrians who might be struck by a vehicle that cannot stop. This can definitely result in severe injuries or death. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the problem could not be duplicated, even though they tried by slowly driving the vehicle for 2 days. For precautions sake, the rotors and pads were replaced and the brake system components checked and fluid bled. We then took the vehicle back and drove it for about a week in various traffic situations without incident. Today, the same failure occurred. By shear grace of God, we were on a road with no traffic again! I have now been reading all the reports on this NHTSA site and am extremely concerned that NHTSA has not forced a recall. This is clearly a repetitive and frequent issue. with Ford Edge vehicles! DO SOMETHING NOW BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This first appeared April, 2023.

My driver door ajar light comes on and stays on if you start the Ford Edge before shutting the door. If you turn off the car then shut the driver door wait a min then start the Edge then the door ajar light does not come on. And sometimes it doesn't matter the door ajar light comes on anyway. It has something to do with either the sensor or door latch. I believe it is unsafe cause you don't know if its just on or if your door is really shut as you drive around. Also when it on while you are driving when stopping at a red light the screen comes on telling you to put the car in park. It doesn't make since to me. I haven't had it looked at cause can't afford the service call. This started happening in Sept 2022. The passenger door had the same problem and was fixed upon buying my Ford Edge. I don't have proof of it but I can show someone.

My 2013 Ford Edge is making a hissing noise when the brakes are applied. It has been a few months; I’ve tried to brush it off that it was just my imagination because my brakes are working (for now), there is nothing leaking, but now there is also a jerk feeling. As I’m driving and then slow down, somewhere between 35-40 mph, there is a little jerk or “hiccup” feeling. I have noticed that sometimes the pedal feels hard to press. I’m worried what is going on will eventually cause my brakes to fail and cause injury. Nothing has been inspected yet, but I did research and see that there is a recall for this exact problem. However, I have not received anything in the mail regarding this. I looked up my VIN and found there are 0 recalls for my vehicle. I believe that my vehicle should be included in this recall.

We began experiencing a "hissing" noise when the brake pedal was depressed. Additionally, the pedal feels stiff, and occasionally the brakes will not engage at all without significant pressure being applied to the brake pedal. We took the vehicle to a Ford dealership, they ran diagnostics, and they confirmed that the brake booster is failing. We discovered that this was a known issue with 2013 Ford Edge vehicles. Ford has a Customer Satisfaction Program (13N02) that was published in its TSB (SB-10054925-6246). This CSP recommends that the brake booster be repaired and extends warranty coverage of the part for certain "2010-2013 model year Edge and MKX vehicles built at the Oakville Assembly Plant from May 3, 2010 through March 28, 2013." I have been told by Ford Motor Company that my vehicle is not covered under this CSP because its VIN was not identified as being affected and, while it was made at Oakville, it was made in November of 2013. Therefore, according to Ford, they are not liable to cover the part replacement despite the fact that the issue we're having is the same issue that Ford has identified in other vehicles of the same make, model year, and built at the same assembly plant.

I had my brakes repaired and since having my brakes repaired, I continued to have issues with the suspension, vehicle handling and imbalance (vehicle not stopping properly). I was dropping my friend girl's grandsons off at school and my brakes went out...almost causing me to have a head on collision with the vehicle in front of me. I was overwhelmed and hysterical! I had taken my vehicle back to the repair shop that replaced my brakes and I tried to explain what happened. I was bewildered because my vehicle didn't have any warning messages of any sort. I remember riding over some bumpy streets and when the traffic slowed down, I pressed my brakes and they were gone. I had to press the brake pedal all the way down to the floor and I wasn't getting any pressure through the brake line at all, which caused me to almost run into the vehicle in front of me. When I pressed the brake to the floor, my vehicle slid rapidly and made a strange noise before I was able to come to a complete stop. We were terrified because I had ran into the curb trying to stop my vehicle! The repair shop mechanic stated that it could be the caliber connected to the brake line, because my vehicle did not have sweaking noises that you usually hear when your brakes need to be replaced. My vehicle is still in need of repairs, I'm afraid while driving it still. I'm bewildered because I honestly don't know what caused my brakes to just go out like that!

I have filed a complaint several Times regarding my car. After several times (3) times of getting my fuel valve replaced it is having issues again. This probably has given me incorrect gas milage and has lost power on me going down the road mid drive with 2 kids in the back seat almost causing an accident. This is unacceptable and as soon as something happens there will be a lawsuit. I have replaced this part 3-4 times now and still getting codes and having my car just randomly loose power and shut off. Something needs to be done about the purge valve malfunctioning system on these cars before someone like myself and kids get extremely hurt.

The backup camera stopped working properly years ago. When in reverse, the camera is either completely a black screen or upside down. I have been quoted many times by Ford that it would be $500-1,000 for me to fix this. This is a common issue with this vehicle make/model. Many other people have notified NHTSA of this issue, as well and Ford says this is VERY common yet they take no responsibility to fix it. This creates blind spots and a safety issue while backing up.

Shift to Park warning light comes on even though the car is in park. This component or system failure is known to ford dealers but they state that it is not on the recall listing. It should be because this is a known issue with ford on the 2013 Ford Edge. It requires the whole shifting assembly to be replaced at the cost of the owner and not the dealership. My car is available for inspection. I have reported this to the Ken Garff St George Ford/Lincoln service and it should be in my file. 5 times in the past 2 years I lost the brakes. Each time the car was going at low speed coming up on a stop sign or traffic light, probably 10-15 mph, and hit a pothole with brakes lightly applied. The ABS kicked in on each of those occasions. The car could still be braked, but the pedal immediately went to the floor and stopping distances were increased. The first 4 times it happened, the brakes returned to normal operation after the car sat overnight. After the 4th time I learned that there was a 10-year brake booster extended warranty, so I had that done and all was fine. On the 5th time, just recently, I was again approaching a light in a construction zone at very slow speed, with the brakes lightly applied. I hit a shallow trench that had been dug in the pavement, and the ABS kicked in and the pedal went to the floor. I still had braking power, but it seemed worse than the other 4 times. Unlike those times, the situation did not resolve after the car sat overnight. Brake fluid was filled to the "fill line" and there did not appear to be air in the lines, and there was no leakage of fluid anywhere. I brought the car to the Ford dealer and was told it was an HCU (hydraulic control unit) failure. I searched online and was appalled to see how many people have had the exact same issue, and some reported serious accidents and injuries. Ford says there is a "national backorder" on the HCU, and they have no estimated ship date. In short, my otherwise perfectly good car has becom

The Brake Booster continually fails on this vehicle. It is part of a much larger issue that Ford has acknowledged. On more than 30 occasions the brake booster has failed causing the brakes to fail. The latest happened today (03/30/23) when I had to brake hard to avoid a near head-to-head collision. This time, when the brakes failed I had to swerve into oncoming traffic, then back into my lane after passing the vehicle that came into our lane from a cross street. We were going UNDER the speed limit, which is 45MPH at that intersection. I was finally able to stop after using the manual shifting option to downshift and slow the car enough that the brakes would actually work. The pedal went to the floor when I had to hit the brakes hard to try and avoid the oncoming vehicle. When I contacted Ford I was asking about: Extended warranty coverage on brake booster Campaign# 13N02 I was told by Ford that this vehicle is not covered under this campaign, even though it states that the vehicle must be no more than 10 years old (it is a 2013 vehicle, AND sold as a 2013 vehicle by description from Ford Motor Company) and it is under the 150,000 mile limit. There are a LOT of people that are facing this issue as well, ergo the campaign from Ford. THEY recognize that this is an issue - this should be a recall, not some sort of campaign that Ford is using to try and avoid one. Upon occasion brakes go all the way to the floor and require pumping to get them to work. This does not happen on a regular basis but if the car is not driven eg overnight brake failure will happen 50% of the time. Once pumped up then everything will be ok. Except if we are are on a long trip with few stops or need to break, then the problem will re-occur. No leakage that we could find. The Ford dealer that we bought the EDGE, - new and always had it serviced could find no fault. A week or so ago I took it to another dealer. The Ford service manager, drove it around for 30-40 minutes, I was with him. A minor failure did occur. They kept it for additional days and determined front calibers was most likely the problem. I believe that our EDGE VIN number should be included with the rest of t;he 2013 Edge break problems and that Ford should pay for the repair.0
