I purchased my Ford from a used car lot and only 3 months later without any alerts my brake pedal goes to the floor. It makes a hissing sound like air being released. My brakes and fluid are fine? Why are their recalls on my same year vehicle, but not mine. I understand replacing brake booster, master cylinder will NOT help. Now I am broke from purchasing my Ford, I can't afford to dump more money into a vehicle that can't be fixed. You need to recall the entire car! Now my dash lights go crazy, even ABS once? This car is a freaking lemon and someone is going to get hurt. Then Ford will responsible for their manufactory error?

Brakes became soft and pedal then went down to the floor while driving. I was able to pump the brakes back up and I took it to the Ford dealer and they could not find an issue they said the brakes were fine.

2013 Ford Edge. My dad's Ford Edge started having brake issues with the pedal going to the floor and the car not stopping. We replaced the master cylinder, and ABS Control Module with dealer parts and the issue continued. We then replaced the brake booster. Same issues are still there. We've even hooked up our $4,000 scanner to do the brake bleeding process. The brakes have been bleed well over 20 times now. We've spent over a mouth trying to fix this issue. My husband is a ASC Certified Master Tech and has been working on cars for well over 25 years. We're at a loss with this issue. Ford needs to do a recall, there are numerous reports on line of this issue happening to other Ford edge owners. It is Unsafe to have these vehicles on the road when the brakes are not working properly.

The brake pedal became difficult to depress at very low speed and rendered the vehicle difficult to completely stop. There was no warning light or other indication of defect. At one point I could have potentially had a collision with another vehicle at an intersection when I started to go but stopped. The brakes worked normally at higher speed. I took the vehicle to a repair shop which said the brake power booster was bad and needed to be replaced. Before the work was commenced I ran the VIN through both the Ford and NTHSA websites to see if there was any recall or other information on this problem and found nothing. After I got the car back I did some research on the issue and found there was a problem with this part in the same year and same plant where my vehicle was manufactured, to wit 2013 in Ford's Oakville plant, and that Ford had given extended warranties on the brake booster part to 150,000 miles on certain vehicles made in the plant but not mine. Reference number is 13N02. I have written Ford about this but they disclaimed responsibility. I do not have the part, as the repair shop had disposed of it before I found about the part problem in the Oakville plant.

Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and is like a sponge at random times. This causes the car to not brake and you have to pump the breaks and what it feels like add pressure to the brake line. This has happened several times over the past 8 months. It appears to be a known issue with a lot of owners. I have had two mechanics look into this problem and have paid almost $500 and no issue can be found. I’m now concerned for anyone to drive it until the issue can be resolved. This could cause a deadly accident! Here is the link to some of the other complaints regarding the same issue: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Started with a "spongy" pedal feel that included a noticeable effect on braking performance. Great force was necessary in order to stop the vehicle. Occurred and worsened quickly and felt incredibly unsafe - like my breaks would give out at any minute. Break booster was replaced at Ford dealership, but not covered under "Customer Satisfaction Program" extended warranty #13N02. I was six months over the cut-off date. Not Happy.

Filed Sep 6, 2023MO

I have a 2013 Ford Edge. Mileage approx 55,000 miles. All scheduled maintenance was up to date. In July 2023, while driving, car started to decelerate. No noises, smells or loss of steering. It was as if my gas pedal just stopped working. My dash had a warning to refer to owners manual. I Thank the Lord there was a break in traffic and I could "coast" to the emergency lane. I shut off the car, restarted it and everything was fine. Took it to my repair shop, they did a fuel injection cleaner and said...see how it goes. Cost: 150.00. 5 weeks later, August 2023 the same thing happened. Went back to repair shop where they diagnosed I needed a throttle body assembly replacement. Tack on another 450.00 bill. In both cases the power loss could have resulted in an accident with bodily injuries. My complaint about the Ford throttle body is not the first, a recall should be issued!

My third issue is that my front wipers will not turn off no matter what I do. And it’s been weeks. The fourth issue I have is that two of my tires keep leaking air since I have purchased a vehicle from the dealership and I have had it in and they claim they sealed it but they are still leaking. So I constantly have to fill them up with air. This has been going on since I bought it from the dealership.

In my experience, as I was driving the vehicle in July of 2021, I pressed on the brake pedal with my foot and the vehicle did not stop. I rolled directly into an intersection. Thankfully I was not traveling at a high rate of speed and no one was coming in the opposite direction. This could have 100% caused a serious accident. I feel extremely lucky that it did not. I have 2 young children that were in the vehicle. There was absolutely no prior warning that there was any issue with the brakes or anything else for that matter. According to the independent service center that the vehicle was taken to, the problem was confirmed to be a faulty Brake Booster. The Brake Booster was replaced for a total cost of $743.81 including parts and labor which I paid for out of my pocket. I am the second owner of this vehicle which I purchased in earlier in 2021. At the time of the repair I was not aware of the fact that Ford Motor company had issued an extended warranty for the Brake Booster (which has since expired). I only found this out in August 2023 when I brought my vehicle in for inspection. I have tried to contact Ford Motor Co regarding this issue and I have requested a reimbursement for the parts and labor which has been denied (even though the repair was made within the extended warranty period). I am strongly suggesting that this part be RECALLED as it presents a serious life safety concern that Ford Motor Co is obviously aware of.

I took it to a Ford affiliated repair shop for diagnostic and found brake booster "inoperable". Other 2013 Edge vehicles assembled at the same factory in the same year were included in the replacement program. To whom it may concern, I urgently report a critical safety issue with my 2013 Ford Edge that poses significant risks to driver and passenger safety. The door locking mechanism has malfunctioned, making it unresponsive to any switches inside or outside the vehicle. This prevents access or swift exit during emergencies, jeopardizing lives. Despite the door being securely closed, a false warning light indicates that the door is ajar. Opening the door from inside has become difficult due to a faulty interior handle, and the auto-locking system engages immediately upon manual opening, hindering quick exit. This issue has been reported on forums, and it appears that some dealerships are aware of the problem; however, the fix is reported to be costly. Such safety concerns demand immediate attention to avoid potential accidents and injuries. I request a thorough inspection of the malfunctioning component and urge for an urgent resolution. I also call for Ford's comprehensive investigation and prompt action to ensure driver safety. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. Please take immediate action to rectify this safety concern and safeguard lives on the road. * Brake booster failure. * Ford posted a letter dated 1/9/14; it’s a Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 13N02 for “certain” 2010-2013 Edge and MKX vehicles; an extended warranty coverage for brake boosters. * Vehicles covered; “certain” vehicles built at the Oakville Assembly Plant from 5/3/10-3/28/13. * The program extends the coverage of the brake booster to 10 years of service or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle, whichever occurs first; it is a one time repair program. * Reason for additional coverage; brake booster may develop a small tear in the diaphragm; if this happens there is a “hissing” noise when the brake pedal is depressed and there is also a “spongy” pedal feel. * Service action; dealers will replace the brake booster at no charge. Details about my 2013 Edge: * It was built in Nov 2013 at the Louisville Assembly Plant. * I purchased it in April 2014; a little over 9 years ago. * It has almost 77,200 miles. * My brake booster has a “hissing” noise and a “spongy” pedal. Why does this CSP extended warranty only cover vehicles built at the Oakville Plant and not other plants? I “assume” my Edge has the same brake booster in it as the ones built in Oakville. That’s the only reason mine is not covered. Ford obviously knows they had problems with these brake boosters but only provided the extended warranty to vehicles built at the Oakville Plant. Why? I think it should cover ALL brake boosters from the manufacturer who made the ones for Oakvi

While driving on 2 lane highway coming to a Stop sign, brake pedal depressed all the way to the floor without fully stopping vehicle. There was a hissing sound when depressing the pedal. Had to implement the emergency parking brake in order to stop completely. There were no warning lights and this has not happened before. I drove it home with hazard lights on and at every stop I pumped the brakes, heard the hissing sound but pedal goes to floor. When got home I checked brake fluid reservoir, it was full. I do not see any fluid leaks on driveway. I checked a Ford forum and see many incidents like this described, too many. Apparently this is a known issue by Ford and there is a TSB 13N02 (brake booster). This could have been a horrible incident if there had been other cars in the intersection.
