There was an NHTSA-mandated water pump recall for this vehicle, and I had the pump replaced on March 16, at an out-of-pocket cost of $175. I have been told (by the Fisker Owners Association) that this cost is supposed to be reimbursed to me, but that there is currently no way for me to request that. Why not?
2023 Fisker Ocean complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2023 record →
There was a formal recall on waterpumps for Fisker. I have had the waterpump replaced, but Fisker owners were due a $75 refund on the cost of the pump (Not the labor). I have not received said refund. The old pump is no longer available, but I can produce a receipt to show that the work was done by a recognized Fisker servicer. Had I not gone forward, the risk was that the electric motor would stop working.
The Fisker Ocean was delivered with door handles that have major physical defects, including entrapment inside the vehicle in the case of 12V power loss and users unable to enter the vehicle. In my case, I have installed an emergency door hatch release myself in the trunk of the car to prevent entrapment. I have also ordered the new Gen2A door handles manufactured by Chevalier. These Gen2A door handles should have been provided free of charge to all Fisker Ocean owners if the company still existed. I believe we should be compensated for faulty and dangerous door handles. American Lease, the company now responsible for the fleet of Fisker Oceans, should pay for the handles and the repair cost. I have included the receipt of the door handles I had to purchase, but this does not include the labor cost to install them (at least $1,000). In addition, the Fisker Ocean was delivered with problematic rear reading lights that turn on randomly due to a faulty metal switch. This means the light can turn on when the car is parked and off, or even more dangerously, while driving (especially at night). I removed the switch. Finally, the Fisker Ocean was delivered with electrical wiring that was not properly waterproofed causing many, many errors for users. I have taken off the front and rear bumpers to properly waterproof these wirings, taking hours of my free time to protect connectors from water ingress. This is unacceptable for a car that was produced in 2023-2024.
Difficulty getting recalls completed due to overcharging by Indigo and other entities. Have not gotten complete software update needed for the recall. Partial update has severly decreased range of car, making it much worse than what it was beforehand. Lots of errors popping up because of faulty update and faulty software before it, so many that I don't know what is true or not. So, may be missing true safety issues. Need to pay to replace water pumps myself because monies have not been freed up (this is part of another recall). Extreme difficulty getting service because of over charging for FAST tool needed for servicing.
Was able to get the water pump replaced per NHTSA recall campaign 24V499000. However, I was required to pay for the labor and no request for reimbursement can be filed with the manufacturer or the trustee that has been designated to handle the recall.
The cars electrical system does not work properly. It is always triggering false alarms. The emergency braking brakes for unknown reasons. The blind spot cameras and notifications always switch off for no apparent reason. There are warning messages that come on and off and are unreliable to warn of an actual problem.
I was driving the car and it suddenly lost all power and created hazards situation in the middle of the road. The car stalled, luckily there were not much traffic and I was able to stop and after a while it regained some power so I was able to drive the car back home.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V499000 (Electrical System). The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer but was unsuccessful because the company had filed for bankruptcy protection and was no longer in business. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.
After receiving the 2.2 OTA UPDATE, I have lost the Pedestrian warning sounds at low speeds which are required to pass State safety inspections in my state of NC. Without this function the vehicle can not be heard moving down the streets at slow speeds below 18mpg which is a Hazzard. Also the reverse function has lost the warning sound.
Recall campaign # 24V865000 (Roll away OTA- 2.0) OTA updated on 7/1/2024 after the the updated the V12 battery was dead and our car was bricked for 6 months and it cost us $1,400 to unbrick and part replacement and our Fisker technician told us our car has drive unit software discrepancies therefore it can't take any software update until it fix On 2/26/2025 American Lease Company pushing over OTA update (recall #24V865000 - Regen Braking OTA 2.2) and again our car is bricked, to unbricked it cost us another $800 and have to replace V12 battery for $300. As of today 5/3/2025 our car is still on OTA 2.1, therefore the recall OTA 2.2 will not get update until we get the drive motor software issue fix.
An over the air software update was sent and has messed up my car causing it to not sleep, run high voltage and 12v battery down. I have lost 4g connectivity after this update as well.
I paid out of my own pocket for a safety recall, with no evidence I will ever be refunded, and the recall team has un-done my recall update. This is the 2.2 update that was put in place to fix the potential issues with the safety of the vehicle. I do not know what they have undone. I know that my system went from full 2.2 software to 2.2.2 (part2) of the update. I have no idea if they will now update the vehicle back to the safe 2.2 version, as there are zero plans, and the recall team is insisting that this partial update satisfies all the recalls. But the recall documents say 2.2, not a partial update.. god knows if it is even safe to sit in this incomplete configuration. Still no plans to get water pumps and door handles done yet either. I just started calling tech to travel to my area for these services. 10 of us are going to be paying out of pocet for these recalls as well.
There is a recall, 24V623 on my vehicle, Fisker Ocean, relating to the brakes and regenerative braking. The OTA software 2.2 update was supposed to fix this issue. I received the 2.2.2 update on February 23, 2025. Which I understand is not the complete update, still waiting for the last part to arrive (there is supposed to be three parts to this update.) Receiving this update introduced new problems with the vehicle. Others in the Fisker Owners Association group has reported the same issues. Namely that the drivers display and the center screen failed to start when the car is started or if the displays do start they can blank out while driving. These issues started after I received the OTA software update. The issue was infrequent at first and now it happens almost every time I start the car. With the center screen being blanked out there is no way to control any of the many essential functions of the car. It affects the regenerative braking, ADAS functions such as lane keep assist and warnings, charging settings, HVAC functions, no heating/cooling or defrost and a few other functions too. When the drivers display is blank, I can not see the speed of the vehicle or what gear or mode I am in.
American Leasing updated my software to 2.2.1,2.2.2, and I no longer have Blind spot monitoring, emergency braking, and lane keep assist. All Safety ISSUES!!!!
As of Feb after a over the air update from OS 2.0 to a partial 2.2 software update, 2.2 ICC390047-APK-1.1.47, on my Fisker Ocean One I am having the following issues: 12v drain, most days when I go to start the car I am getting the 12v battery low, turning off climate control message incomplete home charging -The vehicle has stopped charging multiple times after only adding about 30% when there was about 30% left to get to requested 80% charge. Ambient lighting is on when set to off on UI, I have to go into UI to turn it on then turn it off for it to turn to be off. Ambient light is on when the car is off, I have found the ambient lighting on hours after i have gotten home & locked the car. There also appears to be a higher level of vampire drain where it is losing 1-3% overnight. This is on in addition to the ADAS system still not working, wasn't working with OS 2.0.
I am a Fisker Ocean One owner and was able to schedule time with EV Works in Bainbridge, WA for replacement of parts related to NHTSA recalls. They were great to work with and were able to complete the replacements as expected. They replace the Water Pump (24V499000) and all four Door Handles that failed the testing (24V466000). All parts were provided at no cost. However, I was required to pay out of pocket for all labor related to this mandatory free recall: $1019.28. Two other issues were looked at as part of my visit to EV Works. They inspected and waterproofed electrical connectors in the front passenger side bumper. Fisker failed to adequately protect these as part of the vehicle assembly and they are known to get water intrusion and fail. This cost out of pocket $71.60. Part of why EV Works was looking at the electrical connections is because I have an ADAS Radar Fault warning. They determined this is caused by failure of both front mid range radar components. which leaves the vehicle with no Blind Spot Monitoring. I have heard of several other owners online reporting a similar issue with their cars. I expect this is due to low quality parts used in assembly and that more cars will start to get this warning and lose the ADAS feature. EV Works quoted this replacement as $980.97 but I have not completed the repair yet. This should have been covered by Fisker warranty.
I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the ongoing issues that are being seen with the NHTSA recall campaign numbers 24V865000 and 24V623000. The experience I had with my Fisker vehicle following the 2.2 Over-the-Air (OTA) update attempt left my vehicle un-driveable from Jun 15 2024 through Oct 26 2024. This had left me in an inconvenient and frustrating situation. As a result, I had to incur additional expenses to have the necessary safety updates completed to restore my vehicle's functionality. This is far from the experience that I expected when signing up for a free mandated safety recall. While my vehicle was functioning fine after this manual update, on April 17th 2025 the OTA team pushed a software update 2.2.2 which seems to have regressed my car to some older version which has made it unstable again. It is draining battery much faster than before and my passenger side door handle won't extend anymore. This is going to require me to get these fixed at an additional cost. Moreover, I've noticed a concerning trend regarding the frequency of issues reported by fellow owners after OTA updates.I urge you to address these issues promptly, putting more vehicles in danger of becoming un-driveable because of the safety recall process being flawed may not be helpful in this current process. Additionally, I would appreciate any assistance you can offer in resolving my current situation and compensating for the expenses incurred due to this inconvenience. Thank you fo
There are multiple outstanding Recalls for the Fisker Ocean, yet my VIN returned no active Recalls even though it recognized my car. This doesn't make much sense to me. There are currently at least two critical safety issues that reached recall status, related to the Driver's Door Handle and the Electric Water Pump. Reimbursement is required by both the NHTSA and bankruptcy court and the court designated that American Lease was responsible for processing and paying those reimbursements. I need to have both the door handle and water pump recalls performed by a FISKER (FOA) approved servicing center, for the sake of my safety and the safety of others on the road when I drive my vehicle. There is currently no process by which receipts can be submitted and payments received, or for service providers to be reimbursed directly by American Lease. This violates both the court's order as well as NHTSA regulations and laws. This is going to leave me out nearly $1000, which I am, legally, not supposed to be paying, just to keep my car in somewhat safe condition for driving. Please address this so that those who purchased and acted in good faith have reimbursement as required by law. Thank you.
We have had both the door handle and water pump recalls performed by a FISKER (FOA) approved servicing center. I have 2 complaints. 1. Driving the car into the sunrise or sunset, the car generates ADAS alerts stating imminent accident, and to stop. Stopping in the heavy traffic, as the warnings told us is a safety hazard! This happened twice when driving on [XXX] in Costa Mesa, CA at [XXX] in February and March 2025. At that time, we are basically driving into the bright sunlight. Traffic was heavy with lots of stop and go between 0 mph and 30 mph. I kept at least 3-5 car distances, yet the ADAS alerts kept going off for several minutes. 2. After the latest 2.2 upgrade, our real-world range dropped from 340 miles to 280 miles. The car is supposed to be rated for 360 miles. I've had much better range before the 2.2 upgrade driving from San Diego to Los Angeles, as well as from San Diego to Central California Coast. The massive reduction in range is partly a safety hazard, as we can get stranded if we don't plan ahead to account for this bug. The bug is believed to be programming to the rear drive motor. Excess current to the motor can lead to overheating and potentially cause a fire, which is another safety hazard. Upon update to newest software version 2.2.2, 12v battery is now failing.
My door handle on driver side will not open from Inside. Critical Safety hazard. There is a Recall notice, however I have attempted to reach out to Fisker and no response. This is a critical safety issue
American Lease and Management (AL) company acquired fleet of Fisker Ocean vehicles with a commitment to push Software Updates Over The Air (OTA) to all the Fisker Ocean Vehicles sold by Fisker. AL pushed the update to software on Fisker vehicles (including mine) very irresponsibly and as a result my vehicle is undrivable (Bricked). AL is very hard to reach, their phone number don't work. For me to get a Technician to the location where my vehicle is bricked and manually update the software to unbrick it, would cost me thousands of dollars. This should not havd happened in the first place, but because of AL negligence and lack of responsibility, there are many cars out there that are in same situation as mine is now.
If the door handles are in the unlocked position when 12 volt power is lost to the door handles, the handles do not open, potentially trapping occupants inside the vehicle.
There was a safety over the air update which happened on Feb 13 2025. After that the vehicle is completely unoperable. After the NHSTA mandated update the car does not shift from Neutral to drivable gear. It's become a brick.

There are many incidents to report. 1. No Braking consistency and sometimes a jerk forward on braking, many incidents about 10. Also loss of regen braking at times. 2. Software safety features do not work and constant warning it does not work. Mostly lane assist, automatic parking collision warning. One time reversing camera shows room with digital assist lines which did not protect or warn car of swiping another car. Only slight damage to my vehicle. 3. Driver door handle water leakage causing door to not open with NFC chip and is constantly very warm on the handle as if there is electrical current always on. 4. I had to buy a new KEY FOB as old one has failed. 5. Rear passenger door reading light will come on for no reason. Some adjustment needed. 6. Broken air vents. Poor quality plastic apparently. I did tell manufacturer when i received car and they offered to fix but unfortunately at time I had no time to come in for repair before they went bankrupt and closed shop. Regardless they used poor plastic and a fix needs a better quality plastic i found out in research with other owners. 7. Inherent Production quality of parts problem many owners are discovering with help of owner organization to find remedy.
I am writing to report an issue with my vehicle that occurred during an unannounced over-the-air software update. The update bricked the vehicle, locking the steering and wheels and immobilizing the car. The PKC unit failed during the update, and the resulting tow truck and repair costs exceeded $3,000. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter as soon as possible. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received an unknown recall notification. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unsuccessful since the company had filed for bankruptcy protection and was no longer in business. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle shuddered violently and stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact merged to the left side of the road. A mobile mechanic diagnosed the vehicle at the residence. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with vehicle control unit (VCU) corruption, drive train corruption, and software corruption. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred after driving 200 ft. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that a field technician would be sent to perform the vehicle control unit (VCU), drive train, and software updates. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.
American leasing updated my car's software form 2.1 to 2.2 (1 of 3), then 2.2.,2 then 2.2.1. My blind spot monitoring is no longer working, and I get a radar malfunction error. Also, they will not pay for labor on the recall parts, as agreed to by the court order
American Leasing retains control of the FAST Diagnostic System system software used by the few remaining Fisker Service Technicians. FAST allows technicians to upgrade firmware in various components in the car. Some are related to current recalls on braking, electric motor controls, as well as modules related to ADAS system not completed by Fisker; yet, system which generates numerous "alarms" while driving creating a distracted driving nightmare especially during poor weather conditions. Without this "OEM" service tool, service techs have a difficult time installing updates, resetting components, or diagnosing failed parts. It is one of the few lifelines available for single vehicle owners to continue to operate our Fisker's safely. American Leasing is price gouging non-American Lease service technicians for access to this tool to service the approximate 4,000 vehicles bought in the open market prior to bankruptcy. They know it is our service technicians only complete diagnostic tool and are greedily preventing our folks from access.
Without any announcement, they pushed OTA updates caused my car bricked due to Fault Drive unit Module issue . this is happened second time . this is very scary what happens if they while driving and car bricked on high way . please teat as very critical issue .
Fisker Ocean owners have a safety recall regarding sudden "acceleration" when the regen brake suddenly stop working that require a software update which they have consistently failed to install remotely. Today I drove 7 hours to have someone install it on-site and they said that "American lease" blocked their access to the FAST diagnostic tool which is blocking th from installing my recall. This is unacceptable. American lease is doing a bait and switch asking dealers to pay a $6k fee out of the blue to keep access to the tool and dealers are deciding not to pay which blocks our safety recall. I can't pay and have it installed.
An OTA update got pushed to my car without warning, and for over a month the infotainment screen (which has all info on car, controls, etc) was not working. Car did drive, though. Then, last week, the infotainment panel started working by itself again, but car functions such as lane assist / automatic nudge, collision avoidance function, and auto emergency braking stopped working (to be fair, they may have stopped when the screen went blank initially, but I wasn't paying too much attention and I didn't drive the car very much). There is no fault code or warning. These systems just don't work. Interestingly, the lane departure warning (a light that goes on if there is a car in your blind spot) started working, and it never has before.
Subsequent to Fisker Group's bankruptcy filing, I received NHTSA Safety Recall Campaign TSB30032401, which required the cabin electric water pump (EWP_H) in my 2023 Fisker Ocean to be replaced. The two authorized Fisker repair facilities in my area were not being reimbursed by Fisker for the cost of performing the recall work. I thus paid $150.00 out of pocket to one of those facilities, Premium Autoworks in Riverside, California, to perform the repair, which was completed on Jan. 30, 2025. I am therefore requesting that Fisker reimburse me the full $150.00. I do not know who to contact to obtain reimbursement since Fisker is in bankruptcy. I respectively request that NHTSA assist me in obtaining reimbursement. Thank you.
More bugs and problems after partial OTA to version 2.2.2 than before. Constant alarms and warnings that ADAS is not functioning. Driver alert monitor stopped the car in the middle of the road because it said I was not paying attention. The biggest problem is the car no longer detects the key FOB inside the car. New battery and I can unlock the car from 100+ft away. But once in the car I'm forced to hold it to the NFC. One time I started the car, jumped out to grab something from inside the house, left my key there, then drove off. With no key in the car I was able to dive about 3 miles to the store. Somehow I was able to put it back into D and get home without it shutting down and asking to hold the FOB to the NFC again. The other safety related issue is the small driver screen will not dim. No matter where I have the brightness setting manually set or on auto the screen is always at 100% At night it is very bright and is not at all pleasant to drive with. I have started putting a piece of thin masking tape over it to dim at night. I can still see mostly see things that pop up.
I received an update without any prior notice, and my vehicle stopped abruptly in the middle of the highway, making it impossible to move or start for a few minutes. I had to reset it before I could continue driving. Unfortunately, this issue keeps occurring while I'm on the road. It seems that software updates have been pushed, and the vehicle consistently stops whenever these updates happen during driving.
The software on the vehicle appears to have been updated without my permission or knowledge. 1) Now my doors will no longer lock or unlock from the interior control panel ... which means that the vehicle cannot drive as I am unable to let people into the vehicle due to how the door/door handles function. The door handles used to protrude out of the door when the vehicle was unlocked. Since the interior control panel on the driver's door no longer functions and the doors automatically lock when driving, I am unable to unlock the doors to let people in while driving. 2) I am not longer able to roll down, or up, any windows from the driver's control panel. All windows are permanently closed and cannot be opened or closed from the driver's door control panel.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that American Lease sent out a software update without warning, which initiated the failure. The vehicle became inoperable and failed to go into drive or reverse. The 12-volt battery low message was displayed. The vehicle failed to go into start mode. The contact had an independent mechanic remove the software update. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V499000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. To Whom It May Concern, I am filing an urgent safety complaint regarding my Fisker Ocean One Launch Edition SUV, which continues to experience braking failures despite the latest software recall update (2.2.2). Fisker has now ceased operations, leaving me and other owners without any ability to have our vehicles tested or repaired. Braking Issue Persists: Despite Fisker’s claim that update 2.2.2 resolves the braking problem, my vehicle continues to exhibit severe braking failures, indicating the issue may be hardware-related. No Service Options Available: Fisker’s shutdown means there is no way to have the vehicle inspected or repaired, posing a significant safety risk to both drivers and pedestrians. Request for Investigation: I urge NHTSA to reopen or expand the recall and investigate whether Fisker vehicles pose an ongoing safety hazard that should trigger additional consumer protections. This is a critical issue that has now occurred on multiple occasions that requires immediate attention, as these vehicles remain on the road without proper testing or repair availability. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The car goes into neutral while driving. (Loss of POWER) Happened over 10 times. I need to pull over , come to a complete stop and start the car again. It has happened on the highway and on regular roads. Had the water pump replaced twice and a new 12 v battery installed. The problem has gotten better since but still happens. the first indication is the red batterie light turns on and then car goes in neutral.
Component/System Failure: Lane-Keeping Assist: Malfunctioned during highway turns, aggressively steering toward the shoulder, creating a collision risk. Turning off the feature does not prevent it from re-engaging. Braking & Acceleration: After hitting a pothole, braking failed to engage properly, and the car unexpectedly accelerated, requiring immediate action to regain control. Regenerative Braking: Inconsistent performance made it difficult to stop at higher speeds or downhill, increasing the risk of losing control. Random Parking Engagement: While reaching into my back pocket at low speed, the car unexpectedly shifted into "Park," abruptly stopping in traffic and posing a rear-end collision risk. Brake System Malfunction: A persistent "Brake System Malfunction" warning appears during normal driving, raising concerns about braking reliability. Availability for Inspection: The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risks: Lane-Keeping Assist: Unintended steering toward the shoulder endangers me and other road users. Braking & Acceleration: Failure to brake and unexpected acceleration create hazardous conditions. Regenerative Braking: Inconsistent braking may lead to loss of control, particularly at high speeds or downhill. Random Parking Engagement: Unexpected shifts into "Park" in traffic could result in a collision. Brake System Malfunction: Persistent warnings and unreliable braking compromise vehicle safety. While I was travelling and out of town there was an OTA update (2.2 )to address the issued recalls on my car on 2/25/2025 (OTA update 2.2 1/3) followed with another one OTA update (2.2) on 2/28/2025. In anticipation of the OTA update I had to replace the battery with a new battery in December 2024. In early March, I remotely checked on that status of my car and realized that the car is dead. When I returned home the car was inoperable due to drained battery. After extensive effort and cost of another battery I was able to get the car to turn on. However, I noticed that even though the main monitor indicated 2.2; one of the recalls 24V405000 (Warning Lights OTA-2.1) has not been deployed.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The braking system failure and the radar not detected messages were displayed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
While accelerating from a stoplight the car shuddered and came to a stop. All power was lost in the intersection.
In the last month, in the middle of driving with no sound playing, our vehicle has been automatically turning on the radio at loud volumes, always to 103.3, a radio station we never listen to (in another language).
An over-the-air update was supplied (2.2.2) unannounced. It is NOT the complete 2.2 software and no one can provide us with information why it does not include all 2.2 features required by the NHSTA. Still get occasional issues with ADAs warnings. I would like the FULL 2.2 update the NHSTA ordered the company/bankruptcy trustee to be installed.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
