On 06/10/2022, the Uconnect system began to randomly reboot including within 30 to 60 seconds of starting the vehicle. If in reverse during a reboot of the system , the rear cross traffic sensors no longer provide alerts and the rear camera is disabled while the system reboots. The system then reboots every 2 to 4 minutes after. Additionally, the GPS no longer accepts coordinates for navigation, clock or date.

While driving the vehicle in rush hour traffic the engine slowed and would not accelerate when the gas pedal was applied. The light for the parking break went on along with the battery light. The vehicle appeared to be breaking on it’s own. A message was displayed though I do not recall what it was. Maybe a message to park? I attempted to switch to an outer lane and coast toward the side of the road until the vehicle stopped. I was partially blocking one of the two lanes in a no parking area. I turned the vehicle off and several times attempted to restart it. It would not initially shift into park. When it finally did I repeatedly attempted to start it. The display worked though the vehicle would not shift into drive, reverse, or neutral. The light for each gear flashed. I attempted for some time and at one point it did go into neutral. I attempted to restart and put it in drive then it would not go into neutral. I contacted the local Chrysler dealer who gave me the number for roadside assistance. I contacted the police to notify them as the vehicle was disabled in the road partially in a driving lane. I contacted Chrysler as this has happened previously. I have repeatedly had it serviced for similar problems with it unexpectedly turning off or not starting.

I was driving with the gas engine running when I lost power and then the engine shut off. I was able to get the engine restarted but it wouldn’t move forward or backwards under power.
This is in regard to the most recent recall on the 2018 Chrysler Pacific Hybrids. The entire reason that we purchased this vehicle, was so that we did not have to spend money on gas, as well as for the environment. It is unacceptable that we are expected to sit and wait with a major potential fire hazard. We live in a gated community where we cannot park the vehicle away from our home. We have a short driveway and my 67 year old Mother sleeps in the room RIGHT next to the driveway. We are not okay just accepting this as it is and think it is completely wrong that people just have to "hope it doesn't catch on fire." This is also already the second or third recall on the vehicle.
We were on the return portion of a road trip, this was day 4 of driving. There had been no indications of any issues at all on days 1-3. While going 80 mph on i-80 in nebraska, in the left lane, the vehicle suddenly lost drive power (electric systems stayed on). My husband, who was driving, pressed the gas pedal to try and regain power. At that point the check engine light came on, followed by a red turtle image accompanied by the words "vehicle speed may be limited". My husband was able to coast us to the shoulder of the highway before the vehicle stopped moving completely. We had no warning at all that anything was wrong. I had just had the vehicle in for an oil change a few days prior to the trip and they did a basic inspection- all was fine. I am so thankful the road was not crowded and that no 18 wheelers were too close. This could have ended very differently and we were very scared. After waiting by the side of the highway for nearly an hour, we were towed to a nearby dealer. They diagnosed transmission failure.
While driving at 60mph, vehicle shut off and would not allow me to accelerate. Error message displayed on speedometer, vehicle must be in park to shift gears. The PRNDL blue LED was flashing as well. Several indicator lights on my dashboard illuminated too. Vehicle has approximately 9300 miles on it. This is a pacifica e-hybrid. After pulling off the road I was able to restart and the van worked in “limp home” mode with the red turtle displayed. I then limped the van to a gas station, shut off the van, topped off the fuel tank which had been at 1/4 full, and after a few minutes restarted. After restart, only the yellow check engine light was displayed and the van operated normal. I have read a safety recall exists but Chrysler is saying it is not an active recall for my specific VIN even though I am experiencing the same problems as other owners. I am pretty sure it is associated with one of: 19V348000, 18V049000, or 18V524000. The dealer won’t repair this under recall since all my “active recalls” have been fixed. I can’t drive the vehicle safely but how can I get it fixed if Chrysler won’t repair the issue I am having. With no error codes saved, the dealer said unless it replicates while they have it they won’t be able to diagnose.
The car 12v battery drains completely, rendering the vehicle immobile and completely non functional. There has been an electrical burning smell once the car is jump started and driving. I fear there is some kind of short or electrical discharge somewhere that could render the vehicle inoperable or start a fire at my home or while the car is being used. This vehicle has been at the dealer for 7 weeks and they have not found the problem. I have been told that the car has been connected to a computer system that is being "looked into" remotely by Chrysler. They have replaced the battery and the charging management system at my expense. The problems started when the car had 38000 miles and began with the "radio" which controls many other functions of the car constantly rebooting and having corrupted firmware which I was told cannot be fixed, only replaced. I have since been told this unit cannot be ordered at this time.
Picked up Vehicle from Bayside Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Annapolis after we were told the problems were addressed. After driving about 50 miles home parking than driving the Van again about 5 miles, In the center lane of the road driving about 45 mph the van said "Shift to P to start". The van wouldn't accelerate forcing my wife to drift to the shoulder of the road. The van was turned off and attempted to turn back on, but the Van would not turn completely on to drive. After about five minutes the van was able to be restarted and turned on. The check engine light came on, the van was driven to Auto zone to have the check engine light read. "Power Train System - P0BFD" & " Secondary DTC".
This happened the Day after we purchased the 2018 hybrid Pacifica limited. While Driving the van started to stall out (wouldn’t go when pushing gas) and said shift to P(park) to start. Pulled over turned off the van and restarted it, that didn’t fix the problem. Restarted again and it went back to normal but the check engine light is on. Also the battery is dying extremely fast. Within 5 miles it’ll go from 40% to 0%.
This is the second time we have had this issue with our van. The first time was May 25, 2019. On June 4, 2021, my wife was driving down the highway with our two kids and as she began to exit toward the off ramp, several alarms and warning appeared on the driver’s dashboard including 'SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM', a red wrench with a lightning bolt through it, the orange engine warning light, and a message appeared saying 'SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK'. The van stalled and when my wife pressed the accelerator, nothing happened. She was able to coast down the exit ramp and pull over to the shoulder. The van was out in park, shut off and we were able to restart it. The orange engine warning light remained on. We immediately drove to the dealership. They ran a diagnostic test and said no issues came up but there were twenty some software updates. The issue has not been reproduced by the dealer but we have had it happen two times. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer.
This is the third and fourth time we have had this issue with our van. The previous two times were on May 25, 2019 and June 4, 2021. In this incident, my wife was driving our van with our two kids and I down Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights, IL. We were going about 35 miles per hour when several alarms and warnings appeared on the driver’s dashboard including 'SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM', a red wrench with a red lightning bolt through it, the orange engine warning light, and red battery warning icon, and a message appeared saying 'SHIFT VEHICLE TO PARK'. (See attached photos.) When my wife pressed the accelerator pedal nothing happened. We were able to coast and turn down a side street. We put the vehicle in park, turned it off and we’re able to restart it. We immediately notified the dealership and drove it there. On the way to the dealership, we made a stop. When in a parking lot, my wife pressed the accelerator to drive and the same issue happened with the same warning lights and alarms. Once again, we shifted to park, turned the vehicle off and we’re able to restart it. We drove straight to the dealership, informed them of the repeated issue and left the van with them. The dealership indicated there were over twenty software updates. We were told the exact same thing on June 4th the last time this happened. They have not yet been able to tell us why this has happened or continues to happen. The problem has not been reproduced by the dealership but this is the third time
I have small grandchildren who play in the driveway area occasionally and I purchased a vehicle with parking collision warning features as an essential safety feature. The front center collision warning stopped working and when taken to the dealer twice they cannot confirm the defect because they test by walking in front of the car from the side. This activates sensors on the side but cannot identify a problem with the front sensor. They also drive the vehicle into a service bay which also activates the side sensors and does not detect the problem with the front sensor. We will try a third time with the dealer to have the problem addressed, but my concern is that current service guidelines for assessing function of the system are inadequate and should be addressed by appropriate training. I have no safe way of evaluating whether this problem effects the collision warning system.
BACKUP CAMERA DOES NOT SHOW AFTER THE DRIVER SHIFTS OUT OF REVERSE.
WE HAVE A 2018 PACIFICA LIMITED HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING, IT BEEPED, THEN MESSAGE APPEARED TO SAY "SHIFT TO P". THE VAN THEN LOST MOTIVE POWER SHORTLY AFTER. ONCE STOPPED, SHUT DOWN ENGINE THEN RESTARTED, IT WOULD DRIVE AGAIN. THIS ALSO OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, I HAD TO QUICKLY GET TO EMERGENCY LANE/SHOULDER. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH CARS WHIPPING BY US WHILE WE STOPPED WITH VAN FULL OF KIDS. BUT IT ALWAYS RESTARTED BACK AND WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP GOING. ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON BUT THEN WOULD DISAPPEAR LATER. WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALER (FRESNO CHRYSLER JEEP) AND THEY SAID "SOFTWARE ISSUE" AND THAT THEY WILL UPDATE IT. I DIDN'T GET TO TALK TO THE ADVISOR BUT LOOKING AT THE SERVICE BILL - UNCLEAR IF ANYTHING WAS DONE. THEY DROVE IT AROUND FOR 30 MIN AND ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE ALREADY HAS DONE ALL THE RECALLS PREVIOUSLY. WE TOOK IT HOME - SHORTLY AFTER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN. NOT SURE WHAT CONDITION TRIGGERS IT. MY WIFE WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER TODAY AND WILL ASK THEM AT LEAST CHANGE THE 12V BATTERY (NOT SURE IF THAT IS THE REASON BUT PER FORUM DISCUSSION, THIS CAN BE A CULPRIT). THE PROBLEM IT SEEMS IS THAT DEALERS ARE IN THE DARK ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND MOST PROBABLY DONT HAVE CLUE HOW TO ADDRESS IT.
MANUFACTURER (CHRYSLER) MAILED ME A LEGAL NOTICE THAT MY VEHICLE COULD CATCH FIRE AND / OR EXPLODE AT ANYTIME WHETHER PARKED, IDLING OR DRIVING BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE HYBRID BATTERY COMPONENTS (INVERTER). THEY TOLD ME NOT TO PARK NEXT TO ANYTHING OR ANYONE, NOT TO ALLOW MOISTURE OF ANY KIND INTO THE VEHICLE AND TO NOT PARK OR STORE IT IN ANY ENCLOSED STRUCTURE LIKE A GARAGE. THEY SAID TO WAIT FOR A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AS THERE WAS NOT YET RESOLUTION. I RESPONDED TO THEM ASKING FOR A LOANER CAR OR RENTAL AND WAS TOLD NO. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR AND STILL NO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CAN OFFER A FIX, HOWEVER THEY DID COME OUT WITH A 2020 MODEL THAT WAS BUILT WITHOUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY RECALL THAT OUR GOVERNMENT SEEMS TO BE IGNORING. I AM LEFT WITH A LEMON I CANNOT SAFELY STORE PARK OR DRIVE. I PAID 55K FOR THIS HYBRID, WAS TOLD I WOULD GET 80 MPG WHEN I ONLY GET 17 MPG AND I HAVE TO WORRY THAT IF MOISTURE GETS INTO THESE HYBRID BATTERY COMPONENTS BY VEHICLE COULD KILL ME OR OTHERS. I LIVE IN WASHINGTON WHERE EVERYTHING IS WET AND WE HAVE TO TAKE FERRIES..: CHRYSLER DOESN'T RESPOND TO MY LETTERS.
WHEN I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHERE I'D HAD THE CAR TURNED OFF, THE MAIN INFOTAINMENT SCREEN WENT COMPLETELY BLUE AFTER BRIEFLY SHOWING THE USUAL BACKUP CAMERA AND 360 VIEW. IT WAS ABOUT 23 DEGREES OUTSIDE.
WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN HOME FROM AN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY, A COMBINATION OF LOSS OF CLAMP LOAD AND INADEQUATE JOINT ENGAGEMENT RESULTED IN A SEPARATION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE OF MY VAN. AS A RESULT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF THE CAR AND I LOST FULL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, I HAD JUST LEFT THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED ONTO A CITY STREET. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF MY LIFE, THE LIVES OF MY CHILDREN, AND THE LIVES OF MANY OTHER MOTORISTS DRIVING NEAR ME. THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE CONCERNING THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM. NOW THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED.
A SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED IN THE SPRING OF 2020. I'VE TRIED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS TO GET A DEALER TO INSPECT AND/OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO. I HAVE BEEN TOLD NUMEROUS TIMES THAT PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER. NO ONE WILL EVEN INSPECT THE VEHICLE. IN THE MEANTIME, I'VE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO PARK MY VEHICLE OUTSIDE SO THAT IT DOESN'T BURN MY HOUSE DOWN. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A YEAR TO INSPECT AND REPAIR A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE
MY CAR PURCHASED IN 2018 FROM REED JEEP CHRYLSER IN OVERLAND PARK KANSAS. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020, THE VEHICLE WAS IN HYBRID/ELECTRIC MODE AND STOPPED RUNNING AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. WE WERE DRIVING SLOWLY AND ABLE TO COAST TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WERE ABLE TO SAFELY LEAVE IT ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE STARTER OR BATTERY. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEERING TEAM WITH CHRYSLER AND IT WAS FOUND TO BE A COMPUTER ELECTRICAL HYBRID COMPONENT. ORIGINALLY, CHRYSLER ADVISED THEY HAD NO REPLACEMENT PART ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY. AFTER TWO WEEKS, THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A COMPONENT FROM THE COMPONENT MANUFACTURER BUT THAT IT WOULD TAKE TIME. THE CAR REMAINED IN THE SERVICE CENTER FOR AT LEAST TWO ADDITIONAL WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE REGULAR BATTERY AND PERFORMED RECALL ON OTHER COMPONENTS DURING THIS TIME AS WELL. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH LATER, THE SAME FAILURE/PROBLEM OCCURRED. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE AGAIN ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND LEAVE IT. A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER, WE WERE ABLE TO START IT AND GET IT BACK TO OUR RESIDENCE. WE TRIED TO CHARGE IT USING THE 240V CHARGER WE HAD BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGE EVEN THOUGH NOT FULLY CHARGED. THREE DAYS LATER, WE RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT AND WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. OUR OVERARCHING CONCERN IS SAFETY, AS THERE IS NO WAR

IT LOOKS LIKE THE VEHICLE'S 12-VOLT ISOLATOR POST IS COMPROMISED AND NEEDS SOME WORK. THE DEALER ASKED ME TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR 1 WEEK OR MORE TILL THEY CAN RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. I ASKED THE DEALER TO GIVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE. THEY THEN SAID THAT THEY DON'T HAVE LOANER VEHICLE. ONCE WHEN THE LOANER VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE THEY WILL CALL ME. UNTIL THEN THEY SAID I CAN TAKE THE RISK AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I CALLED FIAT CHRYSLER RECALL LINE TO COMPLAINT. THEY SAID THAT THE DEALER IS NOT DOESN'T HAVE TO GIVE THE LOANER VEHICLE HOWEVER LONG THEY KEEP MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FINAL REPAIR IS ALSO THERE WHEN IT IS CLEARLY STATED IN NHTSA WEBSITE IT IS NOT AVAILABLE. THEY PUT ME ON HOLD FOR 2 HOURS TO SPEAK TO THE SUPERVISOR WITH STILL NO SUPERVISOR TO SPEAK TO. THE NOTICE THAT CHRYSLER SENT ME CLEARLY STATES THAT THE LOANER VEHICLE WILL BE GIVEN AND THE NOTE IN THE NHTSA WEBSITE SAYS THAT THE LOANER VEHICLE WILL BE GIVEN. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THE RECALL IS NOT A BIG DEAL AND THE CHRYSLER ALSO DOESN'T SEEMS TO BE WORRIED ABOUT IT. THIS IS A VERY CALLOUS ATTITUDE FROM BOTH THE DEALER AND THE COMPANY.
SINCE DECEMBER 2018, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 3 TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS SMOKE SMELL COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND PROBLEMS CORRECTED, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON MORE THAN 3 OCCASIONS. THE GPS SYSTEM HAS NOT BEEN WORKING SINCE MARCH 2020, BUT THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUES. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO THEIR MULTIPLE REQUESTS FOR THE RADIO REPLACEMENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER AND WOULD NOT REACT TO THE GAS PEDAL. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT CHANGE WHEN I TRIED TO CHANGE IT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL. THE CAR WOULD PURPOSELY BE SLOWED DOWN BY THE ENGINE AS IT WAS STUCK IN DRIVE POSITION. THE CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR TO MOVE IT INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. AFTER PULLING OVER, SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND VENTS. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AS THE POWER BUTTON WOULD NOT REACT WHEN PRESSED. PER THE DEALERSHIP, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WAS CLOGGED AND OVERHEATED SO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE OXYGEN SENSOR. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY 1.5 YEARS OLD AND CREATED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY.
MY CAR ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ON STOP AT RED LIGHT IN AN INTERSECTION AND THEN HAPPEN AGAIN DURING DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN AND UNABLE TO RESTART. THE DASHBOARD SHOWED MESSAGE OF 'SHIFT TO PARKING TO START' HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO DEALER. ANOTHER EXPERIENCE WITH ENGINE SHUT DOWN WAS ON THE FREEWAY OF 210 BUT ENGINE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER TURN OFF THE CAR FOR FEW MINUTES.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I APPLIED POWER AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY REARWARD ...I STOMPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH MY LEFT FOOT BUT THE BRAKE WAS UNABLE TO SLOW OR STOP THE CAR. THE CAR SPED ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC BACKWARDS BARELY MISSING ON COMING CARS AND WENT ABOUT 150 TO 200 FEET DOWN OPPOSITE TRAFFIC LANES BACKWARDS VERY FAST. IT FINALLY STOPPED FACING ON COMING TRAFFIC AND THEY ALLOWED ME TO SLOWLY TO COME AGAINST THEM AND TURN INTO A DRIVEWAY OFF THE STREET. I NARROWLY MISSED OTHER CARS ON THE STREET AS IT WAS A HIGH TRAFFIC PERIOD TIME OF THE DAY. ..ABOUT 5 PM. I'VE DRIVEN IT ABOUT 3 TO 5 MILES A DAY SINCE WITH NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN WITH MUCH MORE CARE THAN USUAL. I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST IT WAS GOING AS I WAS TRYING TO STEER.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
