I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious fuel-system safety issue involving my new 2027 Chevrolet Traverse with approximately 50 miles on the odometer. While the vehicle was stopped, strong gasoline fumes entered the passenger compartment. Because of the potential fire and safety risk, the vehicle was not driven and was instead towed to an authorized Chevrolet dealership. AutoNation advised me that the gasoline leak was caused by **faulty installation of the fuel injectors**. I was informed that the fuel injectors had not been properly installed, resulting in the fuel leak. This condition is extremely concerning because gasoline and fuel vapors are highly flammable and can create a risk of fire if exposed to heat, electrical components, or another ignition source. The presence of gasoline fumes inside the passenger compartment also created a direct safety concern for the occupants. The defect occurred when the vehicle had only approximately 50 miles and was essentially brand new. I am concerned that this may represent a manufacturing or assembly issue that could potentially affect other 2027 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles. The vehicle is currently being addressed through an authorized Chevrolet dealership, and Chevrolet/General Motors has also been notified of the issue. I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this incident as a potential vehicle safety defect involving the fuel system and the installation of the fuel injectors.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Most recent recall on file: none. Source: NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation.
