Engine failed, started making noise and was shutting off, engine was locking up.

The Def guage does not work properly. After topping off with DEF the guage would not register being full. Also the guage would read over half full and within minutes I would receive a notification that the truck was going into limp mode due to be out of DEF. Happened several time while on a trip. Also truck went into limp mode while DEF was full.
Valve body in the transmission failed while driving on the freeway, all of a sudden it was like the car was in neutral and the RPM's went to redline. Dealer is telling me it is a known issue and has no idea on when they will be able to get parts because they have been on backorder forever. Says that they also have to replaced the Transmission Control Module (TCM). same thing no eta on parts. If this is a known issue why have they not recalled them. Fom what I see on line this failure is happening a lot to people, hence the unavailability of replacements parts.
Driving at highway speeds the message center prompted us to restart the truck and put itself into neutral. Upon attempting to do so, the message center read conditions not correct to shift. We were traveling in a single lane highway thankfully on a decent where we coasted into a parking lot. The truck list all power steering and brakes. We turned the truck off and attempted to restart. Lights were randomly flickering on and off, but the starter couldn’t turn the engine over. After 3 hours of waiting on Chevrolet roadside assistance we obtained our own tow service. The truck tires had seized up causing the driver to drag the truck into the flatbed. The emergency brake kept resetting itself. The following day 7/13 Chevrolet had the truck towed to the dealership. On Monday 7/16 we were informed the engine had catastrophic failure with less than 24k miles. This is the second major engine breakdown as the first was at 5k miles where one side of the engine had collapsed lifters. Engines are on back order but in reviewing other experiences the replacements experience the same issues. The truck is not a safe vehicle to drive.
The vehicle is currently exhibiting a loud, rhythmic metallic ticking/tapping noise from the top of the engine. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as documented in GM Service Bulletins PIP5847A and PIP6101. The cause is attributed to manufacturing debris within the hydraulic valve lash adjusters, which prevents proper lubrication and causes valvetrain desynchronization. This defect leads to severe engine misfires (DTC P0300), "Reduced Engine Power" mode, and potential engine seizure. 1. Component/System: The 2.7L L3B Engine Valvetrain / Hydraulic Lash Adjusters. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. Safety Risk: The audible ticking indicates imminent mechanical failure. This defect causes sudden and unexpected loss of motive power at highway speeds. Driving in this condition puts me at extreme risk of being stranded in active traffic or losing power while merging/passing, creating an immediate risk of high-speed rear-end collisions. GM is aware of this debris-related defect via TSBs but has not issued a safety recall to prevent the resulting power loss. 3. Dealer Confirmation: Yes, confirmed by Chevrolet dealer on 3/18/26. The dealer knows about this particular issue, and decided not to act. 4. Inspection History: Inspected by authorized Chevrolet service technician. 5. Warning Symptoms: Loud metallic ticking/clacking that increases with engine RPM. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as doc
The contact owned a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while he was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine sounded rough and ran rough. While driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and started losing power. The contact pulled over and there was one more loud bang before the engine was blown. Additionally, there was an abnormal failure with the transmission. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a blown engine, and transmission-related fault codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,924.

2023 1500 RST 6.2. Recall was done and performed last year. Truck passed so they changed the oil and sent me on my way. I have had zero issues up until last week. My gut tells me the replacement is going to be the same engine with the same failing parts that I already have so expect I may have issues in the future even after the new engine. -on interstate going 55MPH, went to accelerate to 70MPH and throttle did nothing; no rpm,no down shift, no speed change. Just dead. Suddenly the truck shut off the engine and kicked my transmission into neutral. I tried to restart the truck hoping it would fire just long enough to get me to a safe zone with no luck as the starter would turn but nothing from the engine. Mind you this was rush hour in a construction zone with no shoulder available at the moment. Luckily I coasted, got to the slow lane and was able to veer off safely onto the side of an exit ramp. No notice, no way to safely limp my truck, just a complete shut down. How this isn’t a lawsuit or more people haven’t been seriously injured or worse is beyond me- a total shutdown while driving highway speeds and no way to overcome or at least limit the speed for a short period is unbelievable. Even though warranty is now through 2033/150k miles for the powertrain due to the recall, and I’ve also thought about adding 3-4 years extended for bumper to bumper with all the tech, I now have ZERO faith in my truck or my safety once I get it back. I’m sure the trade value will also be con
The adaptive cruse control will apply the brakes driving, it happens when driving and there is nothing in my lane as far as the eye can see. Sometimes the Silverado will go from 70 mph to 30-40 or less and back to 70. Most of the time it will apply the brakes for a sec and then off. One time it locked up the brakes from the low 60 ish MPH to almost stoped before I could get control. Every time this happens there is no cars, or abstractions in my lane. I have had the Silverado into 2 dealers for this problem about 25 times and they can not fix the problem and I have been told that they are done working on it and they can not find the problem and I will have to live with it. I don't fell safe driving it and have told that to them. I have asked many time to have a GM Engineer look at my Silverado and find the problem and they did nothing to resolve the problem. I need to a get this problem addressed before I cause an accident or am in one. I also have many other problems that they cannot resolve, The Blind spot mirrors light will go off all the time with nothing there or a car will pass on the left side and both the left and right mirror lights will go off. The Bluetooth will disconnect from the Silverado and the person I am talking to can hear me just fine and the call is no longer over the speakers in the Silverado it is on the ear piece of my phone and then will go back to the speakers on the Silverado. I will get an alarm that says "Take Wheel" with hands at 10 and 2 on stee
RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT–RECALL FRAUD & VIN TAMPERING SUBJECT: Falsified Recall N252494000 & 18 U.S.C. § 511 Violations VEHICLE: 2023 Chevy Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ) INCIDENT: March 7, 2026 FROM: [XXX] | [XXX] I am reporting severe Federal Recall Fraud and VIN tampering by Kunes Auto Group (WI). GM records and physical evidence prove Kunes falsified Safety Recall N252494000 (L87 Loss of Propulsion) and sold an illegally rebuilt wreck with mismatched VINs. 1. Falsified Recall: On 4/9/2024, Kunes logged a PicoScope Inspection marking the recall "Passed" (Trans #XX-XXX). The NHTSA remedy requires installing a 0W-40 oil cap/flush. When the engine seized on 3/7/2026, it still had the factory 0W-20 cap. Kunes billed GM for a safety remedy never performed. 2. Concealed Defects: Despite the "Closed" recall, the truck exhibited L87 defect symptoms. I brought it to Kunes three times (Oct 2025 - Feb 2026). They dismissed the warnings and released the truck as safe. 3. VIN Fraud (18 U.S.C. § 511): The 2023 truck has 2025-stamped frame/axle parts. Holz Motors (authorized GM) blacklisted it on 3/6/2026 (RO #1583470), stating in writing: "DUE TO... MISMATCHED VINS DOOR TO DASH, SALVAGED REAR AXLE... HOLZ WILL NOT BRING THIS TRUCK IN." 4. Highway Failure: On 3/7/2026, the L87 motor suffered total Loss of Propulsion at 70 MPH in traffic. The sudden loss of power steering/braking nearly caused a multi-vehicle fatality. REQUESTED ACTION: 1. Audit Kunes’s PicoScope data for the 4/9/2024 transaction. 2
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 41,100.
This truck has a 6.2 engine that was recalled, inspected, and made the switch to the new oil, but then failed. I believe you already have a recall query rq26001 related to this matter. I received the recall notice July 2025, took the vehicle to Covert Bee Cave in Austin, TX July 2025. They told me it passed inspection and put the new oil cap on. Within two weeks I began having transmission issues. I left the truck with them for three weeks and they could not do anything about the transmission. The transmission issue did not reappear until a couple of weeks ago. I took it to Capitol Chevrolet and they replaced a shifter rod in the transmission, but I am not convinced that was the issue as it still shifted rough. Just a couple of days later, before I could take it back to have Capitol look at the transmission, and while driving on an Interstate south of San Antonio, TX, the engine slowed down, flashed a warning "Oil Pressure Low Turn Vehicle Off" and it continued to slow. I was barely able to exit the Interstate, the truck stopped and would not restart. I had it towed to Vara Chevrolet in San Antonio ($440 tow expense) and it still would not start. The technician finally inspected it a few days later, said the engine is seized, and they will need to replace the entire engine, and that it is covered under warranty (there was plenty of oil in my engine). He did not say anything about the transmission. I believe this is an example of my vehicle passing the recall inspection, chang
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Glass sunroof blew outwards driving 60mph on the highway. No other vehicles were around and I did not see anything impact the vehicle. The glass was broken outwards and created an 8” by 8” hole in the sunroof glass. There was no extreme temperature differential, approx. 55 degrees outside. It has been repaired and not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It sounded like a gunshot inside the truck, causing extreme distraction at highway speeds. Luckily the interior shade was closed and caught the glass, but if it was open all of the glass would have fallen on the passengers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No the dealership did not consider it a manufacturing defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Insurance inspected the vehicle and it was covered under a glass claim. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No indication prior to the incident at all. It happened out of nowhere.
Purchased 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 with 6.2 L engine in November 2025 with 3400 miles on it. According to the dealership the engine passed the recall on 09/25. At 6,500 miles the check engine light, ESC light, stability control light came on. Engine was running rough, degradation of engine power, and very rough transmission shifting. Vehicle was taken back to purchasing dealership and was told the lifters and rods will have to be replaced.
My onstar telematics system has failed. I lost all connectivity with onstar and have no vehicle crash detection, communication and onstar based safety feature available anymore. I took the truck to the dealership and they identified the telematics module as faulty and needs replaced. The onstar system buttons are off and will not turn back one and have been off since 2/18/26.
The Forward Collision Light Glitched out and I had to reset the fuse to get it back. The orange light stayed on until I fixed . The truck is only 3 years old and only has 017314 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the tailgate lowered unexpectedly while driving at various speeds, and occasionally closed unintendedly. The failure also occurred while the vehicle was parked and turned off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the failure was demonstrated. The tailgate switch was replaced. The contact became aware of a Canadian Recall, ID Number: N232426400, for the tailgate failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no repair was performed. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The Guidance lines on my back up camera have gone out, and only shows a hourglass. In doing online research this shows up as being a large problem.
On [XXX], my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT caught fire while parked in my residential driveway at [XXX] . The vehicle had been started approximately 10 minutes earlier using the factory-installed remote start system. The vehicle was unattended at the time. My neighbor noticed the vehicle on fire and called 911. The Andover Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The fire department indicated the fire appeared to be electrical in nature. The fire appeared to originate in the dashboard and steering column area based on visible damage and fire progression. The vehicle had approximately 60,000 miles and was properly maintained. There were no prior warning lights, messages, or symptoms before the fire. The remote start system was factory-installed and not aftermarket. The vehicle is currently available for inspection by insurance, manufacturer, or investigators at [XXX] . The vehicle is likely a total loss due to the extent of the fire damage. This incident posed a serious safety risk as the vehicle caught fire spontaneously while parked near my home. The fire could have spread to my residence or caused injury if someone had been inside or near the vehicle. The fire department responded, and an official fire report is pending. Insurance claim has been opened and inspection is pending. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the engine turned off and the instrument panel became inoperable. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the message "Tailgate Open" was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and, upon inspection, noticed that the tailgate was closed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. An employee at the dealer closed and opened the tailgate several times until the message disappeared. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the radio stopped functioning, the driver's door unlocked unintendedly, and the driver’s side seat belt failed to retract as intended. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the seat belts had failed. The contact seat belts were replaced. Most recently, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle failed to respond. After a while, the vehicle was able to stop. The message "BRAKE System Failure” and “Replace Brake Pads and Rotors" was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline
Vehicle had recall for L87 engine performed, resulting in a change to 0W-40 motor oil and a new fill cap. Approximately one week later, the engine failed completely, with evidence of significant bearing wear in the used oil analysis I had performed. The engine has since been replaced under warranty. There was no prior warning to the failure, except for unusual noises during the failure.
Loss of engine propulsion while traveling down a highway towing a #5000 trailer at 65 mph. Less than five miles before the failure the vehicle experienced a momentary downshift of the transmission such as you would experience while climbing a hill or extreme headwind. No warning lights were present at that time or at any time prior to engine shutdown. Upon failure panel indicated "Press Engine Start" and transmission indicated "Park" though we were rolling/coasting at over 60 mph. Realizing that we had lost propulsion I guided the vehicle to the shoulder and stopped. Solid check engine light on at this time. Depressing the "Start" button while stopped would not start or crank over the engine. Boost box would not crank engine, slight noise from starter as if unable to turn engine over. Called tow truck, Seewald's Towing in St. Ignace, MI. Towed to nearest Chevrolet dealer Wheeler Motors Cheboygan, MI.
Engine light keeps returning after dealer visits for oil change. Exhaust heat shield rattles since day one of ownership. During Normal commute, when I accelerate reduced power comes on and doesn’t allow me to accelerate much. Engine Electrical System, including the Charging and Starting System. Checked battery, alternator, and starter
My 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has experienced two separate major drivetrain failures — complete transmission and turbo replacements — within two years of purchase, both during peak use months. The second repair kept the vehicle in service for nine months with no ETA provided until escalation. The repeated failures have rendered the vehicle frequently unusable, caused significant business loss, and represent more than normal wear. Documentation of repairs and dates is attached.

My 2023 Silverado 1500 6.2L ZR2 AEV with 17,500 miles went into the shop for the L87 Loss of Propulsion recall, on 20 OCT 2025. The dealership didnt contact me for 2 weeks, so I called. They than told me my truck failed the pico test and needed a new engine. I also asked for my leaf springs to be looked at under tsb for excessive noise. I also asked for my ZR2 to have the new update installed for the radio fix (my speakers crackle when I talk to people on bluetooth). They had my truck from 20 OCT 2026 until 27 JAN 2026 for a total of 99 days straight. No loaner was available. I had to call GM customer service every week for subpar updates from the dealership. Im active duty army so not having my pov to report to work was very stressful. When I got my truck back, it was covered in dirt, oil on the exterior paint and inside the engine bay. The dealership didnt update my truck as requested and didnt touch my leaf springs at all. They said it would take 5-7 weeks to get new ones, but I needed my vehicle back which is anitated on the work order. Thr parts were all delivered 45 days after it sat there and my truck wasn't worked on until day 94 as advised by the service advisor, as the mechanic would get to it after his next vehicle. I asked how is my truck not priority sitting there for 93 days at the time. GM customer service has submitted my vehicle payment reimbursement as I paid 4 payments while having no vehicle or loaner. $44 a day for a rental at my duty station would cost m
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost power, jolted, and then stalled. The vehicle rolled while on a hill. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle stalled again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a transmission-related error code was reset; however, the warning light reappeared. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and assisted with the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact was driving at approximately 35 MPH, and the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a tree and a steep ditch, where it came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy. The "Service Power Steering" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact sustained injuries, including arm lacerations. The contact did not seek medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body repair shop to get a diagnosis; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed as of yet. A dealer was contacted and went to the auto body repair shop to diagnose the vehicle; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures involving my vehicle, as well as serious inaccuracies currently reflected on the Carfax report. At approximately 15,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure that required a full engine replacement. Less than 900 miles after the engine replacement, the vehicle then suffered a catastrophic transmission failure, which also required replacement. In connection with the transmission failure, there was also a fuel module issue that left me stranded. These failures were not minor or routine service events. One breakdown occurred on a major roadway and required the road to be shut down due to the vehicle being disabled. Another breakdown occurred on the Florida Turnpike as a result of complete engine failure, leaving me stranded in a highly dangerous situation. Despite the severity of these events, the Carfax report does not accurately reflect what occurred. The Carfax report does not state that the engine was replaced, and the transmission failure is not identified as a transmission replacement at all. Instead, it is reported as routine or normal service, without any indication that a catastrophic transmission failure or replacement occurred. This misrepresentation significantly understates the true condition and mechanical history of the vehicle. Due to the repeated catastrophic failures, the circumstances under which they occurred, and the risk posed to my safety and the safety of
CONCERN OVER 6.2 ENGINE FAILING WHILE IN CONGESTED TRAFIC
My husband was driving on Plank rd/rt 219 towards Ebensburg PA when the truck started to buck and he turned off the main road and it shut down. It would not start just said low battery. I had it towed to the garage we use. They just confirmed it is the engine it locked up. I had the inspection for the recall and had the oil changed prior to this happening.
I was notified that my 2023 Silverado had an open recall (L87 Engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.
My truck took my truck to Austin and back. Woke up the next day. Started it at approximately 4 o'clock in the afternoon and had engine oil low alert. Got out check the oil in my truck and there was none on the dipstick with the truck off of course. Checked at two other times allowing the dipstick to stay in for three or four minutes. Still no oil on the dipstick. Did not drive truck any further. Truck has the 6.2 L and I had the recall applied to the truck on December 8. The truck has 88% of the oil life remaining according to the truck.
I am sending this email to report that my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado had its rear brakes lock up momentarily on consecutive days (1/13/26 & 1/14/26) driving 70-72 mph. Each occurrence came on without warning and only lasted a brief moment, but locked up hard enough for my rear wheels to screech and slam me forward in the truck, thankfully there were no other vehicles near me. I took the truck to the dealership first thing in the morning on 1/15/26 to be informed later that day that the truck didn't show any codes. The service department at my dealership contacted the TAC Dept. at GM and they determined that the problem was caused by the brake light wiring from my truck topper (that was after they asked if the customer had added any accessories to the truck). I have had the topper for 3 years without any issues. I reached out to the company that installed the topper and the owner said that GM is giving me the run around and trying to point the blame elsewhere. He himself has installed 100's of toppers and they follow the wiring instructions from Leer Toppers. He did a 30 second Google search and said [XXX] , the problem you have experienced is well documented online, GM knows what the problem is with your truck". My truck was at the dealership for 5 days before they released it to me, even after I told them that there are known and documented cases of their trucks experiencing momentary rear wheel lockups. I have called GM Customer Service twice and left messages regarding my tr
On 1/24/26 I used the remote starter to warm up the truck and it started but within 3 minutes it shut off. The temperature was in the single digits. So I tried the remote again and it wouldn’t start. And the remote start hasn’t worked since and the check engine light is on. Two years ago when the brake module failed right before that recall the temperature was very cold that day too. Just two months ago the check engine light came on and that time the dealership said the battery failed . It also printed out a whole page of errors , at the dealership.
My truck passed the recall PICO test right at 20,000 miles. The dealer put thicker 0w40 oil in. Less than 2,000 miles later, upon hard acceleration from 5-8mph, the engine climbed to 58mph then lost power, shifted itself into Neutral and coasted to the side of road. Truck was towed and told the engine seized up. Changing the oil did not make sense to me as lubrication was always available previously, thickening it does not change the port mill sizes for properly oiling the crank bearings. Now the new engine is revised but I see failures in low milage 2026 models happening.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the message “Reduce Acceleration – Drive with Care” was displayed. The vehicle was driven to the residence with an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
A few times before engine locked up, i was driving and out of no where it would shut off/lose all engine power and woukd shift to N automaticlly. Those 2 times it happend on the highway had to pull over to be able to turn it on again. The 3rd time it was at a busy intersection all 3 times i was with my wife and kids so was very dangerous. 3rd time it never turned on again with a low oil pressure message. Got it towed to the dealership and they told me the engine was locked up. So now at the dealer getting a new engine and radiator ect.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the failure was associated with a coolant sensor failure; however, it was unknown whether the dealer had repaired the vehicle. The dealer then informed the contact that the vehicle was safe to drive. However, while driving 65-70 MPH, the engine overheated and the vehicle stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The failure was initially related to a coolant sensor, and the dealer advised the contact that the part was ordered; however, upon following up, another technician advised the contact that a digital multivalve was ordered. The contact stated that upon returning to the dealer, the dealer advised the contact to sign the service documents. The contact stated that after insisting on reading the service documents prior to the signature, the dealer provided the documents to the contact; however, the dealer later snatched the documents from the contact while the contact was reading the documents. The contact stated that it was unknown whether the vehicle was serviced. The service manager later informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired because the contact and the dealer could not come to an agreement. The contact informed the dealer that the vehicle should be repaired under the warran
After have the engine tested it was determined that my vehicle will receive the 0W/40 oil. After that change I have notices a lot of rattling and the engine not behaving like it should.
On 1/21/26 traveling on a 4 lane divided highway, vehicle stalled, several warning lights came on and vehicle came to a complete stop in driving lane. Vehicle locked in park and could not put vehicle in neutral to push it out of highway. Several vehicle swerved to avoid and until tow truck came blocked a lane. It was about 3:30pm fortunately. So vehicle was visible and no accidents to our knowledge occurred. Thai created a dangerous traffic situation. It was caused by a fuel pump control module Whig was repaired 2 days later at local Chevy dealer. We were advised there were no recalls on this part but it is a common problem. GM should somehow find a solution and repair said problem
September 2025; the fuel control module failed at 75 mph in the left lane of I-45 requiring me to pull over on the shoulder in heavy traffic. I eas towed to my dealership 170 miles. At that time the recall test was performed on my 6.2 L L87 engine and passed inspection. The oil was upgraded at that time. Jan. 3, 2026 at 65 mph the engine died, once again on the highway at over 65 mph. Again I struggled to get to the right shoulder in heavy traffic. At the moment of failure, the engine revved from 1500 rpm to 3900 rpm and instantly fell to zero rpm and died. A message on the dash read unable to put in vehicle neutral. Again, I had it towed to my dealership where it's been diagnosed with a seized engine and I'm waiting (three weeks so far) on an engine replacement. I'm told the manufacturer rep has been to the dealership to confirm the failure and approved a complete engine replacement. There was never any advanced warning appearing on the dash. I have thorough maintenance records on this vehicle.
The motor blew with no notice, around 1000 miles after the recall inspection. My safety, along with the others around me was put at risk as I was in the fast lane during rush hour traffic with no motor to aid switching lanes to get to the shoulder. Finally died at one of the busiest intersections in the state, for the last time, as I was attempting to limp to the dealer via multiple restarts. leaving me stranded on the side of the road on a wonderful January day. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and slated for an engine replacement. No notice, I let off the gas, and when I went to accelerate again, the motor shut off.
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to formally report a safety-related defect involving the power unlatching tailgate switch on my Chevrolet 1500 truck and to request that this make and model be added to the current safety recall affecting Chevy HD vehicles. The power tailgate unlatching switch malfunctioned and would repeatedly attempt to open and close the tailgate while the truck was parked. On one occasion, this occurred continuously overnight. The following morning, my key fob was completely unresponsive, and the truck had zero battery life. The battery would not accept a charge, and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Upon inspection, the dealership confirmed that the battery had been fully depleted and permanently damaged due to a short in the power tailgate switch. The faulty switch continuously drew power as it attempted to actuate the tailgate, ultimately destroying the battery. This failure created a serious safety and reliability concern, leaving me stranded with a completely inoperable vehicle. Given that this issue resulted from an electrical short and caused total battery failure, I believe it represents a significant safety defect. Based on the similarity to issues addressed in the current Chevy HD safety recall, I strongly believe this make and model should be included in that recall. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and addressed to prevent other owners from experiencing the same hazardous situation. Thank you for your time and att

General Motors sent me a letter regarding a safety recall regarding my 6.2L V8 gas engine (ROP L87). Safety recall N252494000. I learned that my truck has the potential to have a complete engine failure. I took my truck to the dealership and all they did was an inspection and changed the oil on it. I'm not a mechanic, but total engine failure is concerning to say the least. I doubt simple change in oil thickness remedies serious recall. I learned there is an open lawsuit regarding this issue. I need Chevy to take this matter more serious, Im driving my family around in a ticking time bomb. I demand more than a band-aid. I want Chevy to replace my engine with a new reliable one.
While driving at 70mph, my vehicle spontaneously shifted into Neutral and therefore dropped power to the transmission. I was unable to shift out of Neutral and therefore had to coast to the shoulder. Upon coming to a complete stop, my truck independently shifted into Park. Again, I was unable to shift out of Park. I turned my truck off, let it sit for a few seconds before unsuccessfully attempting to restart my vehicle. Multiple attempts to restart my vehicle continued to be unsuccessful and the vehicle system would reboot then shut off.

Oil was changed to 0W 40 with new oil filter. Dec-26/27 of 2025 vehicle started stalling, for no reason but no Engine light. Vehicle Engine light stayed on, 1/11/2026 vehicle was running a little rough with abnormal tapping noise but made it to the dealer for inspection.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
