WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN A ERROR CAME THAT SAID "FRONT RIGHT SIDE MARKER LIGHT DEFECTIVE" MY LIGHTS ARE WORKING PERFECTLY FINE.THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS AT ALL. THIS IS A FALSE SENSOR ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND RECALLED.
There is an existing recall for certain Audi Q7 front side marker lights (Audi recall campaign 97CB, NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) but this recall is too narrow. It does not include my vehicle but I have the same problem. Many other Q7 owners do as well. The Audi dealership will not honor repair or replacement, not even under warranty. The only way to fix this problem according to Audi is to purchase a new light assembly for over $6,000. Please expand the existing recall to cover all impacted owners.
Front right side marker light defective warning on dash - request to include in Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000)
My 7 year old car now display the below error and Audi says it will cost $6000 to fix this. $6K to fix a broken light is unacceptable especially because it is a known issue. Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) addresses this exact issue.
My 2017 Audi Q7 is reporting a "front right side marker light defective" message. This happened after the car was brought into the dealer. The light is functional according to the dealer and visual inspection but I was told this is a nuisance error message. The dealer said even though it is working fine, I can pay $4,000 to have the light replaced to make the message go away. Or the other option is to just live with it, which means when it does go out I won't know that it has failed. This seems like a defective part that should be recalled.
I keep getting a "Front right side marker light defective." error. There is nothing wrong with the lamp but Audi wants to charge $4,000 to fix. This appears to be happening to other Q7 owners so I am reporting.
The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil level warning light illuminated with a message that the engine was 1-quart low on engine oil. The contact added 1-quart of engine oil. However, after driving 1,000 miles, a message indicated that the engine was 1-quart low on engine oil. The contact became aware that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The low oil warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 111,000.
I have a 2017 Audi Q& Prestige. It started using more oil after 103,000 miles to the tune of 1 qt per 10000 miles. I checked on line and there was many complaints about this on this and different models. People have said it costs around 11,000.00 dollars to fix whatever the problem is. After a period of time, as reported by various on line complaints, the engine starts to stutter and miss. Plugs begin to foul and seat rings for plugs become unreliable and start leaking. It seems to me there should be a recall as these vehicles are very expensive and boost reliability.
"front left" or "front right" "side marker light defective" message
Error message: Front Right Side Marker Light Defective. Recall was made for 2017 Q7's : 16V-642 but did not include my VIN. Dealer wants to charge $3500 to fix. Error appears everyone time lights are put on.
Error warning "front right side marker defective" is displayed. Other 2017 Q7s are included on the recall list for this issue (recall #16V642000) but our VIN number is not included.
My car side marker light defective code is on. These cars had a recall “ Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000” dealer says I need to replace the headlight assembly. But I believe dealers should fix the issue as it’ was a safety recall. Please assist me with this issue. Thank you
The front side marker lights are defective see manual warning. Called dealer and they said the headlight needs replacement at a cost of over 6 thousand dollars. There is a recall for this but my vin number is not included.
The front left side market light defective message is coming up. I read a recall had been done for this for some VINS but not all. How do I get it on the recall list?
Oil consumption increased over time to 1qt per 400 miles causing engine misfire in cyclinder 5 then 2,3. Engine now requires exhaust valve replacement and or complete replacement or overhaul at 140k mileage. Problem started at 90k miles.
Received “left front side marker deficient” warning. Warning appears when lights are turned on. Have been made aware that this issue may have been addressed for some, but not all, 2017 Q7s in a previous recall. This is a safety issue as the car could be less visible at night. Audi charging several thousand dollars for a new headlight assembly; should fix problem for free as it is a well known issue for this year of Q7 at this point.
The "front right-side marker light is defective" message illuminated in my dash February 2024 when my car is in the garage or gets dark. It does not impact the functions of the car and there is an amber reflector beneath it. According to Federal Law, these are necessary to be visible to others, and without these my car will not pass inspection. However, due to the engineering of the vehicle it requires $5000 to fix. It requires replacing the entire headlight assembly, which is a poor design for the consumer but benefit to the manufacturer. The Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16 V 642000) addresses this exact issue and applies to some affected VIN numbers but not all. It appears that this issue is happening to MANY more owners outside of the VIN numbers that qualify for the recall. If this is an issue with 2017 Audi Q7s , all 2017 Q7s should be included in the recall.
Engine oil consumption, suv requires a quart of oil in between oil changes. Also head light gives warning sign of the side marker being faulty.
The contact's husband owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated while driving and activating the headlights, there was a message stating that the side marker lights were inoperable displayed. The contact stated that the failure recurred whenever the headlights were activated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to replace the broken window. The manufacturer was made of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The suspension spring on the passenger side rear wheel broke.
System malfunction regarding the "right side marker light being defective. There was a NHTSA recall campaign #16v642000 that covered some but not all of the Audi Q7 vehicles. The recall should include ALL Q7 vehicles.
Both rear coil springs snapped, broke and became detached, wedging against lower control arm. Coil spring had no signs of other damage; seems to be defective metallurgy. From online search, there seems to be a high number of Audi Q5's and Q7's from 2017 model year with this problem, but Audi dealers claim it is a 'normal wear' item and is not covered.
The left front marker light is not working and a warning shows up on the dashboard. It's a safety issue as the vehicle may be less visible at night, increasing the risk of a crash. I took my vehicle to an Audi dealership. The person helping me knew immediately what the issue was as he has seen it many times. When I looked up the issue online, I saw many other Audi owners (not only Q7 either) have the same issue of a side maker light not illuminating. I also saw that there was a recall for side marker lights, however, it seems my VIN was not included in the recall. Audi should be responsible for fixing this known issue that occurs in many of its cars. The dealership told me it would be $5K-$6K to replace the small light bulb! Truly outrageous!
Getting a warning on my dash. "Front left side marker light defective. See owner's manual." Appears to be an open recall from research online, but does not cover my VIN apparently. That's shady, it's a known issue and dealership wants $4,000 to replace. Heck no, this is a manufacturing defect. Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000
No accident occurred. During maintenance service, the car was diagnosed with suspension problem, broken rear coil spring at the passenger side and seriously corroded rear coil spring at the driver side. Dealer service technician advised that the coil springs failure needs immediate attention, safety at risk. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. Car was at relatively low mileage (<45K). Noticed that same failure has been commonly reported by other Audi owners.
Error code showing left front marker light defective. Dealer asking $5500 to repair. Many other complaints about this issue in online chats.
Front Right Side marker light defective appears on my dash. No light out, But noticed it turned off and on.
"front left" or "front right" "side marker light defective" Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) addresses this exact issue and applies to some affected VIN numbers but not all. It appears that this issue is happening to MANY more owners outside of the VIN numbers that qualify for the recall.
Received the following warning: “front left side marker defective” yet light is still functioning. I was told there is a short in the sensor, and In order to get rid of this warning, I would be forced to replace the entire headlamp at a cost of more than $5600. Other VINs from this model have been issued a recall for this very problem, yet my VIN was not included. From my understanding, all that is needed would be a software update. Please include all q7 Audi models in this recall, as this is obviously a more widespread issue after reading the other complaints.
“Front right side marker light defective” meanwhile all light still work

I bought my 2017 Audi Q7 on November 16, 2023 (Used) and a couple of days after putting the headlights on Auto I get a message pop up "Front left side marker light defective See owner's manual". Also kept getting a low oil message. This model have no oil stick so I put about a 1/2 qt of oil in it to see if the message goes away. It goes away for a few hours. The vehicle basically stopped running leaving myself and kids on the side of the road in the winter while we wait for a tow truck. After getting it towed to Mentor Audi dealership, they gave me the bad news that the engine needed to be replaced. My engine has been replaced and documents can be sent upon request. After doing some research, I found out that these are common issues with the 2017 Audi Q7. NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000
Front Left Side Marker Light Defective alert repeating despite there being no identifiable issue with any lights. After checking with the owners manual - it says contact your Audi service. Checking online reveals that several other Audi owners with an AUDI Q7 2017 model have experienced this exact same issue. When the issue happens under warranty the headlight in question is replaced for around $4,000. If not under warranty it is an out of pocket expense - a very high cost. According to sources online this exact issue is covered by Audi Recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA ID : 16V642000) but only for some VIN numbers and not for many others experiencing the same issue.
PCV valve and PCV solenoid failure. Covered under an Audi extended warranty for 2013-2016, but not 2017. Exactly same failure.
Side marker light defective message appears erroneously. Side marker light is intact and functional. Error message is a distraction and will fail to accurately notify of real issues with side marker light.
The rear spring cracked and the lower seat where the spring sits deteriorated. Unsafe to drive before replacement. No warnings, just a clunking sound.
I got a malfunction alert on my dash that states " Right Side Marker Light Defective - See Owners Manual". Apparently, there is an existing recall 97CB for this item but my VIN is not listed as part of this recall. I have read several complaints that more and more Audi Q7 vehicles are being affected by this malfunction. I would like to see if my VIN can be included on the 97CB recall? Since this problem seems to be shared among tens of thousands of vehicle owners and those affected are growing in numbers. Please advise on this issue since it is a safety related matter and the repair cost from Audi are very expensive. There is side marker lights issue. it happened 2 years ago in my case, both cases left side. .Audi has previously address this recall, but did not include my VIN, and it states the SAME issue. I found that old model has same issue with recall. I searched audi owner web site, and saw there were so many owner had same problem. however, audi did not declare 2017 Q7.
There is side marker lights issue. it happened 1 one year ago. it was right side. few months later , left side had same problem. I checked up audi q9 with same problem. I found that old model has same issue with recall. I searched audi owner web site, and saw there were so many owner had same problem. however, audi did not declare 2017 Q7.
While driving, the lower suspension control arm broke in half. No impact to the part, a break with no explanation. Cause the vehicle to veer to one side while the vehicle dropped in ride height causing the tire to rub on the inside of the wheel well. The damage could have caused a crash if going at a higher speed. This happened at 15 mph while increasing in speed.

AUDI 2017 Q7 PREMIUM PLUS: July 25, 2023 - Got a notification "Front right side marker light defective." The car had just passed the 50k manufacturer's warranty. The current mileage at the time was 51,426. Contacted dealership for assistance and they informed there was a recall on this issue but unfortunately my VIN did not qualify for it, also that the vehicle was no longer under the manufacturer's warranty. I then emailed Audi customer support explaining my concern and how I felt this was a safety issue that should be the manufacture's responsibility to repair. I received a call back from them and pretty much what they said was, "we apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately your VIN does not apply to the recall and the vehicle is no longer under warranty." I got the same response as the dealership. I've taken my car to two different shops and the cost varies from 5k-6k. This is insane for a car that was barely over 50k miles. I've never experienced any other problems with my car in the 4 years I've owned it. This was the very first time. I maintain my car very well and it is always up to date with the maintenance services. This is a safety issue that can affect my safety and others as the purpose of these lights are to inform other drivers about my vehicle when observed from the side. Especially at night. After several attempts with the dealership and no luck I gave up. I found a European Auto Shop to look into this and they are now working with my extended warranty
The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated that upon a quick acceleration, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as an unknown warning light would appear on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the warning light would disappear upon restart of the vehicle. The contact also stated that the air bag warning light had also appeared on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that the third-row seats would fail to adjust as needed. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 19V035000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), 16V955000 (Air Bags), and 16V641000 (Seats) which the contact linked to failures. The dealer was initially notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and informed that contact that each of the recalls that were referred to was already serviced prior to the recent failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
A repeating fault saying "Front right side marker light defective. See owner's manual" keeps popping up in the primary display with an accompanying bell sounding. The Long Beach Audi dealership said all lights were working correctly and failed to fully diagnose the problem in the five days the car was in their shop. This repeating nuisance fault is annoying and distracting to the point of being a safety hazard and should be fixed by Audi.
The right side mark light failed. There was a recall for this problem (Audi Recall Campaign 97CB, NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) but it did not include my car. It seems many Audi owners have this issue.
Passenger side, top right of windshield dripping water when it rains heavily. The car is only 7 year old, always garaged and only has less than 25000 miles on it. This is a manufacturing defect and unsafe as it can distract drivers.
"front right" "side marker light defective. Headlights work fine, just the error message that come up at night.
Front Left Side Marker Light Defective. This is a known issue with Audi's vehicles. There was a recall for some vehicles but apparently not the Audi Q7. The lack of these lights put the driver and those around them at risk due to limited visibility. People are choosing to completely DISABLE the light rather than pay the exorbitant fees to ensure a simple bulb is working. NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
