2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The printed circuit board and software for the rearview camera may contain defects that cause the rearview camera image not to display properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Risk. A rearview image that does not display properly reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the radio, as necessary. In addition, dealers will update the rearview camera software, as necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 25, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is A2C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 14, 2025.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The fastener that connects the brake pedal and the brake booster may have been improperly assembled during manufacturing, which can cause the brake pedal to detach from the brake booster.

Risk. Brake pedal detachment can cause a loss of brake function and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and repair, the brake booster connection, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2025. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is E0B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2021-2024 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles. The tire pressure and size information on the tire placard and manufacturer labels are incorrect. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Risk. Incorrect tire information can result in under-inflated tires or installing the incorrect-size tires, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. FCA will mail corrected tire placards and manufacturer overlay labels. Owners may bring the labels into a dealer for free installation. Some interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 27, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed August 5, 2024 through November 1, 2024. Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2018-2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, 2019-2023 Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, and 2024 Fiat 500E vehicles. A seat belt buckle switch sensor may be improperly connected, preventing the front seat air bag from deploying as intended.

Risk. A front seat air bag that does not deploy as intended can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will repair the connection, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning August 27, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 82B.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and 2018-2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles equipped with carbon ceramic matrix brakes. During certain driving maneuvers, the brake system may exert an excessive clamp force that may fracture the rotor, decreasing the brake performance.

Risk. An unexpected decrease in brake performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will update the brake system module (BSM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 20, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 68A.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. The fuel line sensor housing may crack and leak fuel.

Risk. A fuel leak may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. A fuel leak also increases the risk of fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel line sensor housing, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 11, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is Y91.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with tires that have a lesser load rating than intended for the vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Risk. The incorrect tires can result in the operator overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the tires, and update the owner's manual with the correct load rating, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is Y83.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and 2020-2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. Hard braking may cause the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) rotor shaft to separate, a reduction of braking assist, and a loss of ABS.

Risk. The loss of braking assistance and ABS functionality can reduce overall braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dealers will replace the ABS HCU, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 29, 2021. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles. The rear brake discs may fracture during vehicle operation.

Risk. A rear brake disc fracture may result in a reduction of braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear brake discs and pads, free of charge. The recall began December 17, 2020. Owners may contact FCA US LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US LLC's number for this recall is W86.

My fuel pump started to fail. I am open to having it inspected, the problem is I already replaced it myself because I wasn’t aware of the fuel pump recall for the 2017-2019 models. I know my vehicle is a 2020 but it was manufactured in 2019. It happened twice, I was driving on the highway when my car suddenly lost power. I couldn’t accelerate and I had to merge through multiple lanes to try and pull over safely. I took it to the Alfa Romeo dealership and they were the ones to tell me my fuel pump was failing. No warning lamps, or messages, just suddenly losing power while driving. They appeared sometime last year and I was fortunate enough to repair it.

Just bought a 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia from Carvana and two days later while driving the check engine light came on along with the electronic throttle light and the auto start/stop light. While driving the vehicle went into complete limp mode in a busy intersection and I had to pull off quickly to avoid being hit by other traffic. Engine codes came up fuel pressure related.

A persistent humming/whining noise occurs at highway speeds (around 60–70 mph). The noise has been present for more than two years and has continued through multiple major repairs. The sound appears to come from the drivetrain area and raises concerns about a potential driveline or mechanical failure at speed. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by multiple authorized dealerships. The vehicle has undergone two rear differential replacements, a transfer‑case replacement, chassis ear testing, STAR engineering cases, and testing with OEM wheels and tires. The noise remains after all repairs. The manufacturer’s Area Representative test‑drove the vehicle and verified the noise. Despite this, the manufacturer has stated that no further repairs will be approved, and the vehicle was returned with the defect still present. The vehicle has been out of service for more than 100 days for attempts to diagnose and repair this issue. The unresolved noise at highway speeds creates a safety concern because it may indicate an underlying drivetrain problem that could worsen or fail while driving. There were no warning lights or messages. The only symptom is the persistent noise at highway speeds.

This is regarding a ABS unit that under the part number for this Vehicle it shows it meets the recall but it is not listed under vin number in order to get repairs correctly completed for this vehicle. Vehicle was diag. and confirmed issue at a local auto repair shop. ABS warning msg, is present on display, engine light on due to abs pump, as well braking issue is also present. When running part number from parts department for this vehicle part number matches recall 21V-309. a case has also been created CASE: 96026913 for this vehicle vin. part# for vehicle current pump 68505278aa.

The vehicle never had a problem with the backup camera until the recall, and they serviced the vehicle:Rearview Camera Failure (2025): Affects 2020–2025 Giulia and Stelvio, where the screen may not display the rearview image, increasing crash risk. Since the recall the back-upscreen failed to display camera numerous times. The car was brought in to fix camera/screen and they could not find a problem. I provided pictures of the screen displaying "CAMERA SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE" Still having Back-up screen failure's.

I was traveling along the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge on a normal commute day when the brakes started sticking early on after that point, by the time I reached the Caldecott tunnel after the incident on the Bay Bridge, the brakes locked up completely, forcing me to coast without using any brakes and subsequently the brakes started smoking. I had to exit the nearest exit to stop the car and tun it off. I had to have my car towed to the repair shop the following day. My car is now unusable for the past two weeks until I can get a resolution to the faulty brakes situation.

2020 Alfa Romeo Guilia Purchased 11/29/24 Miles : 22,710 [XXX] Issue: Safety 1st sign of issue car did not start leaving work one day about 7 attempts before it started. From than on it continued, one day driving to work stopped at a light the auto turn off but car did not restarted had to apply emergency hazard lights after several attempt it started up extremely dangerous and scary as I almost was rear ended several times. this continued to happen I took it back to dealer. On date 3/15/25 Mitsubishi where it was purchased they had for 2 days charged my $200 for diagnostics and said could not repair issue they said take it to Alfa Romeo. 03/15/2025TEST ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR PERFORMANCE AND ELECT. -DRAW - -27,877 miles Shortly after that car has turned off in the middle of the hwy ([XXX]) during stop and go traffic extremely dangerous took about 5 minutes and car finally started. Next day car did not start on my way to work had to have car towed around [XXX] to Alfa Romeo service in Ft. L. There they kept car about 4 days replaced battery and all relays charged me $1600. Let me start by stating that this incident is just one of many occurrences that has happened to me with this vehicle. I was driving down a straight highway that was pretty heavily congested with traffic of other vehicles, when all of a sudden I felt a loss of power with the vehicle and some error codes came up on the dashboard indicating the engine needed to be serviced, start & stop was unavailable, and to service electronic throttle control. I also noticed that the vehicle driving mode had switched by itself from Dynamic to Natural mode. After a few short seconds, I felt the RPMs drop completely to zero and I felt a loss of the power steering as well because the engine had shut down completely in the middle of highway traffic. As I was driving on the left lane of a two lane highway, I had to immediately pull over to the right side shoulder, nearly being hit by vehicles behind me as the Alfa Romeo Giulia stalled and immediately cut my speed. I was parked on the right shoulder of the highway with my hazard lights on and put the vehicle into Park. When I tried to restart the engine, it just cranked over for a long time before finally turning on. The same error codes popped up on the dashboard indicating the problem was still there. Driving and stopped at a traffic light, car engin stopped then when I tried to start the engin burning smell and smoke came from under the hood. Took the car to the dealership and they advised me that the starter had been completely burned out but yet they don't know why or how. This incident had made me fearful for my kids, wife and my life, the starter is close to gas lines and that could have caused an explosion. I am not sure how can the starter burn in flames when there is a relay and fuses to protect the regulation of current going into the starter. Thanks

Around January 30, 2023 (need to verify the exact date). My vehicle went on limp mode, the engine light went on plus an additional warning light. I was driving on highway 99 when my car started to stall. It felt like the car put itself in neutral mode. It was frightening as it happens randomly & suddenly after being able to drive 60+ mph. It wouldn’t pick up speed. Driving 5 mph. It was frightening as I was far from the exit & the vehicles behind were honking and 1 swerved, thankfully the driver was able to change lanes. I tried my best to move to the slow lane, but it was extremely difficult as the car would not pick up speed. I finally made it to the slowest lane (no emergency lane avail.) I was anxiously hoping for an exit. It took a while, kept on my hazard lights. When I finally found an exit completely stalled, then after turning it on and off it picked up a bit of speed. Tt felt like it was on neutral. I parked and attempted to call a tow truck. The car kept struggling and it was raining that day. After hours, I was able to get assistance to take it home. I did call Alfa Romeo, which they towed it to their nearest dealership. They ran test but did not find anything wrong with the engine. They did find other things like the coolant leaking. They did fix those things. However, they did keep my vehicle for over 2 months! And I had to request the inspection because they did not send it or placed inside the vehicle like they normally do. The vehical is experiencing locked break calibers. Abs won't release.

Vehicle had a head gasket blown and oil to coolant mixture due to head gasket and oil cooler failure this has will now be the 3rd engine 4th time I have to bring the car for warranty regarding the headgasket car has been in the dealership for months at times.

I noticed that the windshield is delaminating. I did a search on the internet to see if anyone else was having this issue and many other Alfa Romeo owners did notice that around the windshield you can see bubbles. Took the car to the dealership and they said it was not covered by warranty. I decided to go to their parking lot to check other client cars and sure enough i found other Alfa with the same problem. I think this could be a very dangerous problem for drivers. I'm afraid this issue will continue to get worst. Thank you

Around 715p, today, May 29, my wife was driving the Alfa Romeo Giulia, and we pulled into our driveway. I was in the passenger seat and had my right elbow resting on the window sill (the window was fully open) and my palm was resting against the window frame. My wife pressed the automatic window up button as she was turning off the car. As the window started up, my forearm was trapped between the sill and the window frame. the pain was extremely intense, particularly from where the window kept trying to close. I yelled at my wife several times to hit the window down button. I could not get my arm out. Finally, I was able to pull my arm out scraping the skin. I feel that, if there had been soft tissue such as a baby's neck where my arm was, the tissue would have been crushed. After I pulled my arm out, the window did not continue to raise.

2020 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO ILLIMINATED SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE INOPERABLE START/STOP AND D-N-A (PERFORMANCE MODES) AND COULDNT PASS NYS EMISSIONS AND SAFETY INSPECTION.

I was driving at highway speed when the glass sunroof exploded without warning. It had been functioning as expected prior to this. Some glass entered the vehicle, but there were no injuries. The vehicle is available for inspection and is scheduled to be inspected by an insurance rep. It has already been inspected by a dealer representative, who claimed damage was caused by debris striking the vehicle, however I have DASH CAM VIDEO that contradicts this version of events.( I will forward video upon request. ) Manufacturer has denied warranty coverage for repair which includes paint damage from broken glass.

Inaccurate fuel gauge reading i have sent it to the dealer two times it still not reading correct the fuel gauge stays at three quarters. even i fill it to the top. the dealer told me to read the owner manual or i am not filling it correct.0608

BACKUP CAMERA IS VERY DIM ESPECIALLY ON THE VERY OUTSIDE OF THE VIEW. NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH TO DISCERN PEDESTRIANS WALKING BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE BODILY HARM. DEALER SAYS IT IS WITHIN THEIR SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I'VE FOUND SEVERAL FORUMS ON THIS VERY SUBJECT AND SOME CLAIM THERE IS A FIX USING A COMPUTER PROGRAM THAT LIGHTENS THE CAMERA TO A USEFUL LEVEL. I TOOK THIS ISSUE UP TO THEIR CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SAY THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANY MORE AND THE CASE IS CLOSED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL VEHICLES, ALL MAKES AND MODELS AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAD A CAMERA THIS DANGEROUS.
