The rearview camera on our new Volkswagon TAOS does not work. We leased the TAOS on 12/27/21 and the rearview camera malfunctioned for a short time and then completely stopped working soon after. We took it to dealership twice and called Volkswagon several times but were told they do not have the part to fix it. We have two toddlers at home and neighbor children regularly play at our home. We are very concerned about safety of the vehicle, but it is our only vehicle. We are aware of Part 573 Safety Recall Report 20V-716 concerning a similar defect being non-compliant with FMVSS 111 on “Rear Visibility.” We emphasize that the rearview camera on our new vehicle does not work at all, despite FMVSS 111.
EPC, AUTO/SWITCH OFF ERROR, LANE CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND YELLOW TRIANGLE EXCLAMATION MARK LIGHT ARE ALL ON AGAIN - 4th time same issue, the engine was about to stall on me and luckily I was close to my house. Additionally there was the issue with a part recalled related with the fuel. The car was shaking when hitting the gas and seemed like engine was about to give out. This car is not safe to drive and I’m reporting this safety issue with NHTSA due to many previous recalls on this model and will be applying for lemon law on Monday. There is a history of recalls with this model and I no longer feel safe. Unacceptable I have leased this car for six months and 4th time I’m having issues. I already had to stay with a rental car twice all together while they “repair” the issue and reassure me the car is safe. I rely on my car for work and I’m always on the highway. Today I had my entire family in the car and the engine almost gave up on me in the middle of of major busy road
This car has a dangerous delayed acceleration problem. While making a left hand turn the car DID NOT apply the correct amount of acceleration proportional to the pressure applied to the gas pedal. It got to the point where I was basically flooring the gas pedal AND THE CAR DID NOT CHANGE SPEED! Because the car would not accelerate I almost got hit. After the turn a delayed surge of speed made the car jerk/lunge in an dangerous manner. If I didn't have a firm grip on the steering wheel I would have lost control of the car. I'm terrified driving this car in heavy traffic conditions. Volkswagen needs to fix this before someone has an accident and dies.
Driving today 2-25-22 near Dripping Springs TX And heard what sounded like a gunshot and noted that my panoramic sun roof glass imploded.
The infotainment system on this vehicle does not always turn on when the vehicle is started and has stayed off for long durations of time from 2 minutes to an entire day of driving. This means the backup camera does not function nor does Bluetooth. I have brought it back to the dealership multiple times only to be told it just needs a software update. Most recently I had it serviced Feb 17th 2022 for a software update and the issue is still on going. I drove for 20 minutes without the infotainment system turning on.
I bought my new car June 2021.Model 2022 Volkswagen TAOS [XXX]. In a new car, every 1500 miles a light comes on to check the engine. I have already been in maintenance twice, and today the light came on again to check the motor. I'm tired of driving with a new car to the service. My car has only done 4,300 miles and this is the third time I have to go to fix it. When the light comes on, check the engine, the car starts to slow down and a loud sound is heard, they can’t fix it for me. New car and so bad INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
2022 VOLKSWAGEN TAOS SEL. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO POWERTRAIN ISSUES. THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER TRAIN HAD A VIOLENT JERK. THE JERK CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS HEAD TO SLAM AGAINST THE HEADRESTS. WHILE DRIVING THE DASHBOARD'S WILL INDEPENDLY SWITCH BETWEEN SCEENS. THE DRIVER WOULD BE UNABLE TO USE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, THE SOFTWARE WIPED OUT THE 1/4 OF THE DASHBOARD'S CRITICAL DRVING DATA, THE DISPLAY WOULD FREEZE OR REBOOT WHILE DRIVING. THE DISPLAY SHOWS DISTRACTING MESSAGES. ALSO, THE WIRELESS CHARGING PAD CAN CAUSE DEVICES TO BECOME EXTREMELY HOT. THE REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WERE UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE. THE LANE WATCH AND AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BAKING SYSTEM TRIGGERED UNNECESSARILY.
Periodically the MIB infotainment screen blacks out; this in turn places a warning error in the driver center console screen. While this occurs, nothing else can be accessed or displayed in the center console screen. This creates a potentially dangerous situation as it can lead to confusion on a variety of things (example: Is cruise control still engaged?). It can also deprive the driver of key safety information (example: If one or more tires experiences a loss of pressure, the driver will not be warned). Furthermore, if the driver is reliant on Navigation and is driving under stressful and adverse weather conditions, this could create panic and result in a collision. VW has no fix for the issue currently and is releasing the vehicle back to me, even though I have stated my safety concerns.
MIB infotainment system blanks out, simultaneously sending error code to driver center console rendering it useless. Key functions are therefore inoperable or inaccessible, including (but not limited to) TPMS monitoring / alert warning, rear view camera display, and potentially a host of other safety and advanced driver assist functions.
Modular Infotainment Platform (Radio, Navigation, etc.) called MIB goes blank when driving sometimes. This can be dangerous if it occurs when traffic is heavy and driver is dependent on the navigation system. Also simultaneously the driver center console display only shows the following error message: “Error Dynamic Road Sign Display”.
2022 Taos SE FWD safety concerns. Automatically turns off, engine light turns on. My vehicle and the loaner (2022 Taos) had the same issues. Safety recall needs to be explored
2022 VW TAOS 4 Motion fuel line leak; called for appointment 8/30/21 prior to receiving the Important Safety Recall Letter in mid September when the information was first told of possible fire starting under the car on the internet. First available appointment at the VW dealer was 10/6/21. Needless to say, the VW TAOS was leaking fuel. I was told the car cannot leave the dealer lot. Here, I had been driving the car since purchase 7/15/21 with my grandchildren in the car, not knowing the car was leaking fuel. My dealer had no loaner cars. After contacting VW Care for a week, I was given a rental for 2 weeks only. Now I'm without a car again with no known date when the car will be fixed. The dealer says it could be after the New Year, that they can't get any information from VW Corporation. The VW Corp. parts case manager says the parts will be in no later than 11/5/21, then delivered to the dealer about 7-10 days later, 11/12/21- 11/15/21, with the parts to be installed the day the parts are delivered. Such a discrepancy between the dealer and VW Corporation. VW corp rarely returns calls, when I get a human voice, their answers aren't answers, just words going around in circles reading off a script. Still without a vehicle to drive BUT paid the $397 lease payment each month, BUT NOT PAYING again, and payments must be prorated for the non use of the vehicle. Ready to begin the LEMON LAW process. Will not deal with VW Corp or the local VW dealer ever again. Both leaving me stran

A stop sale order was placed the following Monday after I signed my lease of the 2022 VW TAOS with 4MOTION. Not only was I not contacted about this safety recall but upon taking it in for severe turbo lag reasons on Sep21 I was informed that it was unsafe to drive and needed to be kept for an undetermined extended period of time with no loaner or rental. I’m paying 500 a month to lease and insure a brand new car that I simply cannot use? It’s unacceptable. VW needs to buy back my car so that I can be in a reliable safe vehicle from somewhere else.
The vehicle drives well and the problems surface without any prior indication or warning. The PROBLEM: while driving the vehicle slows down to about 10-15 mph. when I try to press the gas pedal, the vehicle does not increase speed. In addition there is a loud sound coming from the engine. also, there is a grating/vibration as if one drives on a gravel road. The service light shows up in red, and the "+" sign next to "D" shows red: I use the "D" to drive and not the overdrive. The gear lever does not release as it is stuck. My wife and I feel very alarmed because the cars behind are braking and blowing their horns. I managed to slowly drive off the main road to the nearest parking and turned off the ignition. When I turned on the engine again I was able to continue. I have been calling for an appointment to correct the problem but have not been able to get an appointment as of date. I am scared to drive the vehicle. I am having it towed to the dealership. I leased the vehicle on 6/3/21. The problem first occurred on 6/18/21. It occurred again on 9/15/21, and 9/17/21
When I depress the accelerator, the car jumps ahead or stalls. I took this to the local dealership and was told this car is on a do not sell list- 1 day after purchase. They, along with VW customer care has advised against driving the vehicle and encouraged it be towed to a dealership. This is my only vehicle and without it I have no transportation. They are unable to provide alternate transportation. I have been working with VW customer care.
The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that shortly after accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle suddenly stalled and the lane assist disabled, tire pressure sensor warning light, and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to coast into a nearby gas station where she turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained proper function. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 50 miles.
Yesterday afternoon, while driving on I-55 in heavy Chicago Saturday traffic, my Taos 4Motion stalled out (mid-drive) in the middle lane of I-55, and I was nearly smashed into by several vehicles. My gas pedal didn't work, and yet my car appeared to be on. In an effort to find a way out of danger as fast as possible, I managed to get the car going again, only to have it stall out a second time (mid-drive) while trying to get onto a shoulder to safety. I was nearly smashed into again. Three hours after a VW roadside assistance tow truck got to me, I learned that a mere six days after I purchased my Taos 4Motion, VW issued (1) a recall on the specific problem I have described, and more importantly, (2) issued a stop-sale order on Taos models with 4Motion. I was never informed of this recall, and I have since learned VW is not sending notice of this recall until October 5, 2021. This is unacceptable. People could die, and no one is saying anything. I spoke by telephone with Nick Faciano of VW Crystal Lake Illinois this morning--my dealership--and he informed me that he had spoken with VW corporate representative that morning and that, and I quote directly, "I even contacted Volkswagen corporate this morning and again, they're still telling us not to contact the customers, that they're doing it." Obviously, this has not been done. And it's already too late for me to be notified. What about the next person? Will someone have to be smashed on I-55 or anywhere else, and die, before
Purchased car on July 22 - only 360 miles on it. Engine cutoff when I stopped in my neighborhood. Additionally, the sound system stopped working - no radio volume for AM/FM/Sirius and phone. Phone calls come in but can’t answer them.
I picked my VW Taos up yesterday 8/10 from the Dealership in New Hampshire. The car shut off and stalled several times. It also shuts off by itself without pushing the engine off button. It happens at every stop the vehicle makes. This car feels very unsafe to drive. The dealership is over an hour away from me as I am in Massachusetts. I have notified them about these issues and they told me they would get it in and have it looked at. When I put the vin number in to this site, a recall alert came up which I was not informed by the dealership about or I would not have bought this vehicle.
I just returned my leased 2017 Tiguan and leased a 2022 Taos. The Taos does not have a front passenger seat height adjustment. When I test drove the Taos, the tall vw salesperson was sitting in the front passenger seat while I was driving and my girlfriend was sitting in the back seat. The VW salesperson did not tell me that there is no front passenger seat height adjustment. My girlfriend cannot see over the dashboard when sitting in the front passenger seat. I purchased a seat cushion that raises her 4 inches but now the front passenger airbag light will not turn off so if we are in a car accident the driver airbag will deploy but the front passenger seat airbag will not deploy. I need to have the front passenger seat replaced with a front passenger seat that has a manual height adjustment or I need a different car. Can you please help me? I have been a lifetime loyal customer of VW Porsche Audi and do not understand why a manual front passenger seat height adjustment would not be included in any of your products. The VW salespeople need to make sure that customers know that there is no front passenger seat height adjustment prior to purchasing the Taos S and the Taos SE. The Tiguan S models that I had all had front passenger seat height adjustment. Can you please help me? Thank you.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
