The airbag not working after recall, the dealer says the clock spring is bad. Cant order a new one bc they have been on backorder for over 9 months now.

Clock Spring has failed. Te vehicle has been inspected by the service dealership department and confirmed the prognosis. The clock spring failure prevents the airbag from deploying in an accident. It also controls the electronic components in the steering wheel blinkers, horn etc they also do not work. Airbag light came on and as I went to honk my horn at another car my horn did not work creating a safety hazard and almost causing an accident. Luckily I slammed on my breaks and no one was behind me. Immediately notified the dealership service department of problem they confirmed the clock spring has failed and told me the car is still driveable but comes with hazardous safety issues that may prevent saving a life in the event of an accident. For example no horn to alert another car, no blinkers to safely change lanes, if in an accident airbags won’t deploy etc.

Clock spring is broken, and no one has replacement parts. They have been backordered with Volkswagen for MONTHS. Air bag, horn, and steering wheel radio control do not work. Won't pass safety inspection.

The clock spring within the steering wheel has failed and is no longer functional. The airbag sensor warning light has come on. The horn no longer works, and I cannot warn drivers crossing over into my lane who may not see me in their blind spot. And as far as I understand, the main steering wheel airbag no longer works either. The idea that my main airbag system will not deploy in an event of accident is worrisome. I went to a dealership and informed them that its most likely a clock spring issue as I googled the issue; it’s quite common in their cars. They confirmed it for me, after taking a $139 ‘inspection’ fee which was no more than a tech scanning my car and checking the three main indicative problems I already reported to them. I was at about 120,090 miles at the time. I was informed that their clock spring warranty only covers up to 120,000 miles but was assured they will most likely be able to cover it after talking with the Volkswagen representative. It wasn’t covered. I was then told it would be another $600 to use their services, and the part would take a few weeks to come in. I later called the parts department as I did not want to pay an exorbitant labor fee; the inspection fee was insult enough. I was informed the parts department is five months backordered. So now, I’m either forced to pay for their service to get the part within a few weeks or wait five months from the parts department all the while driving with no horn or wheel airbag. I'm now forced to use

The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where she was informed that the upper timing chain cover and transmission oil cooler needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V182000 (Power Train) which she linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and she was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 149,000.

The contact stated that once she parked and restarted her vehicle, there was no electrical function on the steering wheel. The recall listed on the previous page explains why visibility is so poor when low or high beams are on while driving, no matter what the weather conditions are. My safety, along with my family's safety, and oncoming traffic were put at risk due to such poor visibility. I don't have this problem with my other Volkswagen (2017 Jetta). The other problem I encountered is with my steering wheel. I was turning and I heard what sounded like a crinkle type noise. It was rather brief so I didn't pay attention and then it made the sound again when I turned wheel in the opposite direction and again on my next turn. The following day I heard the same type of noise while turning in either direction and then the noise sounded like a spring breaking. I then noticed a light on my dash come on. The light was orange in color displaying a similar no seat belt wearing flash display. Once I was home I looked into what dash light meant and it had to do with an airbag malfunction. I went on to notice that none of my steering wheel functions worked nor did my horn. I researched possible recall involving steering wheel clock spring in a 2014 Passat and found it was indeed a recall. I purchased this car for my soon to be licensed son and he needs these recalls fixed as soon as possible in order to use car for his driving test in April. The nearest VW dealer is in Green Bay, WI which is a few hours away from my home. I was informed by a close friend that works for VW that recalls could be fixed by Hal

Approximately 2 years ago the backup camera and infotainment system ceased working. I complained to the dealership but they said that failure of the system was a "characteristic" and not a "defect". In my opinion, having an operational backup camera is a safety feature. They quoted me over $2,500 to repair. I now see on the internet that VW has issued a recall of over 32,000 vehicles (model year 2021) for the exact same problem -- losing the rearview camera and infotainment displays. By the way, lose of the system in my car also means that I cannot use my mobile phone "hands-free" thru the car, which is also a safety feature. So, if VW is issuing a recall for 2021 vehicles for this same issue as my car, why must I pay over $2,500 for it to be repaired on my 2014 Passat?

2014 VW Passat: EPC light and Engine light went on, 1/11/2022. Car stalled. Called AAA and waited awhile. Tried again and car started so I drove.... 0.4 miles and it happened again. AAA driver said it wasn't the battery (lights were still on). Towed to my mechanic. He changed the oil and gave me a new battery. I drove 600 miles roundtrip the next day. Then, on 1/22/2022 same thing happened. EPC light, Engine light went on and Car stalled. The fix: I needed a new Fuel Pump Control Module. Interestingly enough, my OTHER VW Passat (2006) had a recall on the Fuel Pump.

I bought an extended warranty on this car and it does not cover ESC light coming on . Car is burning oil. I’m afraid to drive due to the ESC also car misfires hardly

Took vehicle to shop report oil leak no warning signs causing timing chain problems what is the cause of oil leak is the recall issue on the engine?

Catastrophic failure of high pressure fuel pump sent metal shards into my fuel system on my vw tdi 2014 diesel car . Unknown high dollar repair costs. This is a known issue with this make model year and engine but when I call vw customer care they say my specific car isn’t covered. I don’t understand how that is possible. I also found an extension to cover this exact issue published by NHTSA.gov and yet vw still says my car isn’t covered and I have to foot all the bills. Please help

The Clock Spring on this vehicle has failed which controls the driver side airbag, horn and all other buttons on the steering wheel. Apparently, there are almost 5,000 people waiting for this part to fix their car which most are under extended warranties since VW knows they have an issue with this part. I have made numerous calls trying to get this part and there is no end in sight as to when my VW dealer can expect it to get my car fixed. I find this unacceptable, and it sounds like VW is not even manufacturing this part and it could be months or even years before this is resolved. I will not drive my car without a horn or airbag. I am sure many people are driving around with this issue.

I adjusted my steering wheel with the lever used to do so and reverse my car out of my parking spot and I heard this like crunchy and crumbling crackling sound and it sounded like there was something wrapped around my steering wheel and i was like what the heck... So I turn the wheel clockwise and then back counterclockwise and then back again and kept hearing the noise but decided there was nothing I could do about it so I drove to my destination which was about 5 minutes away. I put my car in park and left it running went inside and made a payment and came back out and I put my car in reverse to reverse out of the parking space and all of a sudden there was this thing and an air light on my dash saying airbag air and all I could hear was this crunching crackling sound again like something was going to pop out. So I pulled my car back into the parking spot and I called my local Volkswagen dealer on Saturday around 4 only to find out that all technicians were gone for the day and wouldn't be back until Monday. So I called the 1-800 Volkswagen number for customer support and it was closed as well. So I drove my vehicle home and it's been parked because I'm scared to drive it because the airbag sounds like and feels like it's going to explode

When outside temperature freezes, so does driver door. Will not open from outside or inside. After a few hours driving, it eventually worked. But next day, same thing.

Clock spring failure after recall.

Vehicle engine abruptly stopped running on roadway. No prior symptoms. Would not restart although starter properly engaged. MIL light did not illuminate prior to stoppage. BlueDriver device showed no stored codes. Tow required. VW dealer service department was backed up and stated they could not even begin diagnosis for 2 to 3 weeks. Independent service technician diagnosed problem as failure of fuel pump control module and replaced the module.

Heater core getting clogged again, after multiple replacements, vwgoa will not perform recall because of other not related recall not performed. when heater core gets clogged three things happen, passenger side stops producing heat, windshield defrost does not operate correctly, and coolant lost due to evaporating and or leak into intercooler that can lead to engine damage

Dual Mass Flywheel Failure

On Saturday October 30, 2021 my car was parked on the driveway. I tried to put the key in the ignition and the key would not go in. There is a white plastic piece in the ignition that will not allow the key to go in. My steering wheel and front tires locked. I called AAA and had a tow truck come so that I could have the car towed to the dealership. The driver was able to wiggle the key and start the car. I dropped off the car at the dealership on Saturday Oct 30th. I was told by the dealership that the key cylinder and steering wheel lock housing plus keys need to be replaced. I contacted VW of America and was told that they will not replace the part because the car is out of warranty. This is obviously a defect as there have been many recalls with this part in different model VW's. The dealership is trying to charge me $934.03 for this repair which I believe is a defect. Service advisor at Volkswagen stated that it is not safe to drive the car as it could leave me stranded. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to failure on Saturday October 30, 2021.

After having parked the car long enough to eat dinner out, I pulled out onto the main street and the car engine showed clear signs of distress, sputtering, missing and ultimately going into what seemed to be limp mode. I was able to pull off the main lanes before the car died and would not re-engage after three attempts to restart. On the third attempt, the car stopped attempting to crank and the dash lights all began to blink until the only extra light that was left was the coil (glow plug indicator). We were left stranded in the street for a while until we could safely exit to push it out of the road and to a safe place. I later had the car towed to my mechanic where the issues were accessed and diagnosed. The causation of the failure is a combination of the first fuel pump failing and disintegrating then dispersing medal shards throughout the fuel system and ruining it entirety. I have never had any indicators or issues with this vehicle. There were no prior warnings or problems with the car. I was very blind sided and stranded in the road then felt forced to put myself in harms way to get it pushed out of danger and prevent an accident with another vehicle.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYED ON AND THE HORN STOPPED WORKING.

A few years ago I had my clock spring replaced as part of a recall. It just gave out again.

None of the functions on the steering wheel of my 2014 VW Passat work. This includes the horn, the airbag and other functions on the steering wheel. This car is what my daughter uses for college. It puts her at risk and other drivers. She cannot beep the horn if someone is driving erratically, the air bag on the steering wheel does not work and sometimes the directionals do not work. This car will not pass inspection. VW has not put a recall out on this part and after doing some research, many VW's are affected by this issue. What makes matters worse, is that she had the same issue in 2018. She had to travel to a VW dealer almost 50 miles away from her college campus to have the clock spring replaced to the price of $646 dollars. Now it's 2021 and the same problem is occurring. What is the matter with VW where they will not take responsibility for their cars.

There is a TDI/AEM Emissions service action CODE: 23Z3 for this year TDI, that requires Dealer Software 'fix" , I have owned the car for a year now , with no contact from VW. Also, have read that there is a Recall on the Heater Cores getting clogged, and causing fogging windsheilds, driving hazard. And no contact from VW ?

No warnings of the issue until none of the controls were working - now an air bag light January 29, 2020 - 82227 miles, no air bag, no horn, no steering wheel controls. brought to dealer - says there is a known issue with the clock spring and replaced it no charge. August 11, 2021, 123221 miles, no air bag, no horn, no steering wheel controls. brought to dealer - says not covered. the first clock spring lasted 80,000, the second one even more faulty - lasted barely 40000.

I turned on my car and turned the wheel to leave my parking as I normally do every morning. I heard a crack and the steering wheel was not moving normally. Then there was an air bag error message as well as the horn and wheel button controls stopped working. I looked it up online and saw that there was a previous recall on this issue with this type of model. Though no current recalls came up. It has been an issue with VW Passats and it’s very unsafe. Never have had any issues like this happen in other cars. I had barely turned the wheel when this happened.

While driving on a highway, I heard a mild noise under the hood and things went chaotic, the coolant temperature went high above nominal, the speedometer went crazy, the brakes weren't working, the steering got locked (Not able to move freely) and I literally felt dreadful, I was lucky enough that there were no vehicles front or back of me, otherwise it would have been a fatal incident. I managed to use my hand brakes to slow down and slightly move the vehicle to the shoulder. Oil was leaking underneath the engine at its first look. The vehicle then had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership inspected and confirmed that they found a hole in the engine block and they came back to me and mentioned the whole engine block and also the turbo has to be replaced. The vehicle was right after a fully recommended service from the dealership. no warning or other symptoms appearing.

MY 2014 VW PASSAT TURBO HAS AN ISSUE WITH NO HORN, NOTHING ON STEERING WHEEL WORKS AND AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON THE DASH. THE LOCAL VW DEALSHIP MOSES VW OF BARBROURSVILLE, WV TOLD ME THE AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AT THIS TIME BC THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDS REPLACED. VW REPS TOLD ME IT IS NOT A RECALL JUST AN EXTENTION OF WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES. MY CAR HAS 131,000 OF COURSE. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR AND WAS ALMOST IN A BAD WRECK BC SHE HAD NO HORN AND THE BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHICH IS VERY SCARY. HOW IS THIS NOT A RECALL? I HAVE AN APPT TO HAVE IT REPLACED AT MOSES BUT I WANT THIS CHANGED TO A RECALL. IT IS A COMPLETE SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE A SLOW OIL LEAK APPARENTLY ON THE RIGHT REAR OF THE ENGINE. IT HAS BEEN CHECKED AT VW AND WITH OTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WITHOUT RESOLUTION OR FINDING THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. THERE IS NO OIL EVER ON THE GROUND. THE CAR IS NOT BURNING OIL.

DRIVER SIDE DOOR HINGE BECOMES LOOSE. SERVICE MEMBER STATED "THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CARS"

CYLINDER IGNITION LOCK JAMMED. COULD NOT GET KEY INTO IGNITION. BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC WHO ORDERED A NEW CYLINDER FROM VOLKSWAGEN. THAT PART ALSO DID NOT WORK. WHEN HE SPOKE TO A VOLKSWAGEN REPRESENTATION, THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED "WE'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THOSE".

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO IN ARIZONA. IT HAS ONLY EVER BEEN SERVICED BY VOLKWAGEN DEALERSHIPS. SINCE HAVING THE CAR, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE ITS TURBO REPAIRED, NEW FUEL LINES PUT IN, SEVERAL ELECTRONIC PARTS, AND FINALLY ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL FROM BOSTON TO PITTSBURGH, MY ENGINE STARTS SMOKING. AFTER THIS INCIDENT IT WENT TO 'MINUTEMAN VOLKSWAGEN' JUST OUTSIDE OF BOSTON, WHERE THE ISSUE WAS STILL NOT ABLE TO BE RESOLVED. I THEN HAD TO HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED OUT OF POCKET TO A VOLKWAGEN DEALERSHIP IN PITTSBURGH WHERE A NEW ELECTRONICS UNIT WAS PUT IN. I WAS ASSURED AFTER THIS ELECTRONIC UNIT WAS INSTALLED, MY CAR WOULD BE BACK TO NORMAL, AS THIS WAS NOT AN ENGINE ISSUE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TODAY I RECEIVE A CALL INFORMING ME THAT THE ELECTRONICS UNIT WAS INSTALLED AND IT TURNS OUT THAT IT IS, IN FACT, AN ENGINE ISSUE. I WAS IN SERIOUS DANGER AT THE TIME MY ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. MY FAMILY HAS FUNDS AND ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO TAKE WHATEVER STEPS NECESSARY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. MY MOTHER DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT IN 2018 IN A CAR ADVERTISING EXCEPTIONAL SAFETY (JUST LIKE THIS ONE). IT HAS PROVIDED ME WITH THE OPPOSITE. I FEEL CONSTANTLY UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE, AND THE SMOKING ENGINE WAS THE TIPPING POINT FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. THIS ISSUE WILL BE ADDRESSED.

CAR STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO CLICK. AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, HORN DOES NOT WORK AND LOST CONTROL OFF ALL SWITCHES ON THE STEERING WHEEL.

2ND TIME IN AS MANY WEEKS. SHOP CLEARED ERRORS. REAPPEARED TODAY. 200 MILE WARNING DOES NOT REDUCE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE A SECOND APPOINTMENT WITH SHOP TO FIX.

THE CONTACT CALLED ORLANDO VW NORTH (1050 LEE RD, ORLANDO, FL 32810) AND THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.*DT*JB

VEHICLE STALLS AT RED LIGHTS OR WHEN IDLE. EPC LIGHT CONTINUES TO LIGHT UP. CONTINUE TO TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALERS EACH TIME THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX STATING CHANGE THE OIL IT IS BAD. AT THIS TIME WE ARE REPLACING ENGINE AT 86,000 MILES, FUEL PUMP WAS ALSO CHANGED IN DECEMBER 2020.

WHILE DRIVING STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO CLICK. NEXT TIME DRIVING THE CAR, I HAD A ERROR AIRBAG READING AND LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND HORN DOESN'T WORK.

THE HEATING OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOW DEFROSTING SYSTEM NOT WORKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. VW HAS ALREADY RECALLED THE 2014 PASSAT WITH THE DIESEL ENGINE. GOING BACK HOME FROM TENNESSEE ON THE INTERSTATE AT 66 MPH THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS NEGATIVE 9 THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED ICE ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. WE HAD TO PULL OFF AT A EXIT AND SCRAPE THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WINDOW. WE CONTINUED ON ARE TRIP HOME AND HAD TO STOP ABOUT AN HOUR LATER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE TO RISE UP AND THE SUN TO COME OUT. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE WIDOW INSIDE WOULD NOT CLEAR UP AND HAD TO BE TOWEL DRIED ALL THE WAY HOME. TALKED TO VW OF AMERICA THERE COMMENT WAS THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THE PROBLEM. TALKED TO THE LOCAL VW DEALER AND THERE COMMENT WAS THAT THEY ARE REPLACING HEATER CORES ON OTHER YEARS OF THE PASSAT'S BUT NOT ARE YEAR YET. THEY RECOMMENDED THAT WE PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND TRY TO GET VW OF AMERICA PAY FOR IT. VW HAS WARRANTIED OTHER VWS WITH A LETTER EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON SOME 2013-2014 PASSAT'S TO 10 YEARS AND UP TO 120K MILES.

STEERING CLOCK SPRING WAS REPORTEDLY FIXED AS PART OF THE RECALL BUT HAS FAILED AGAIN. AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. HORN DOES NOT WORK. STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS DO NOT WORK. CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING. VW WILL NOT REPAIR THE RECALL WORK DONE WITHOUT CHARGE. SEATBELT TENSIONER IS ALSO NOW REPORTEDLY AFFECTED.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE OIL LEVEL WAS SO LOW THAT NO OIL WAS SHOWING ON THE DIP STICK. DEALERSHIP ADDED 3.8 QUARTS ITS AND NOTED THEY SUSPECT BASED ON MY HISTORY OF TIMELY OIL CHANGES THAT THE ENGINE IS CONSUMING OIL. THE LOW OIL INDICATOR LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE CAR IS STILL CONSUMING OIL AND NO INDICATOR LIGHT IS COMING ON.

2014 CAR. DEC 2017 HEAT HAS FAILED BECAUSE OF PROBLEM WITH HEATER CORE WHICH FOLLOWED FAILURE OF RADIATOR IN 2/2017. REPLACED RADIATOR IN 2/2017 AND HEATER CORE IN 12/2017. 10/2019 HEAT FAILED AGAIN. HEAT IS INSUFFICIENT TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR IN COLD ICY WEATHER IN NORTHEAST. WINTER IS HEAR AGAIN AND HEAT IS INADEQUATE TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON SHIVER POND RD. IN CAMDEN, SC I NOTICE A POTHOLE WAS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO AVOID IT AT THE TIME BECAUSE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY THE TIRE WENT DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AND CALL FOR HELP TO GET A SPARE ON. I HAD TO GO BUY ANOTHER TIRE FOR $90 FROM WALMART.*DT

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A MAJOR CITY THOROUGHFARE WHEN IT SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN AND STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET, IN TRAFFIC. IT WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE MOVED OUT OF THE STREET. IT WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE FUEL PUMP AND CONTROL UNIT ARE DEFECTIVE AND MADE THE CAR INOPERABLE.

I TOOK MY CAR TO VOLKSWAGEN ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED DUE TO THE EPC LIGHT I SPENT 300 BUCKS AND A WEEK LATER THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED TAKE THE GAS OUT AND PUT MORE GAS IN AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS WHICH IS ANOTHER 800 BUCKS THAT IS ALMOST 1000 WITHIN TWO WEEKS FOR A EPC LIGHT
