We have had 3 interior door handles malfunction within 12,000 miles. This poses a serious risk if the vehicle was in an accident where there was a fire and the interior door handle malfunctioned. Toyota has yet to publish a recall, but it is widely documented online and our dealer service advisor has mentioned this is a serious problem they have seen on other models as well. The three handles have broken on three different occasions: Front driver(2/13/2026), rear driver-side (8/14/2026), and most recently front passenger side (9/13/2026)

Interior door handle broke, driver side. Vehicle is just over a year old with 7K miles. Apparently Toyota has confirmed this is defective part, the item is currently back ordered and I'm at 10 plus days waiting for a replacement. This prevents a safety hazard on exiting the vehicle in an emergency.

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a Toyota warranty denial. I own a 2025 Toyota Sequoia that is still under warranty. I first brought it to Mountain States Toyota because the power liftgate would only partially open, beep repeatedly, and would not open or close correctly using the buttons. I also noticed the right side of the liftgate was not sitting flush. The dealership confirmed in writing that the liftgate was misaligned, would not operate correctly, and that there was a significant gap on the right side. Their inspection notes also state they found no signs of previous repairs or accident damage and even checked the Carfax, which showed no reported accidents. Before the issue was repaired, the liftgate strut/arm snapped. The dealership is now denying warranty coverage, claiming the damage was caused by an "outside force." I don't understand how that conclusion was reached when the exact problem was documented before the strut failed. To make sure I wasn't missing something, I had the vehicle inspected by an independent auto body shop. They provided a written statement saying they found no evidence of accident damage or any outside-force damage and that the failure appears to be mechanical. I also have photos of the vehicle before it went to the dealership and after it left, showing new damage that wasn't there beforehand. I've contacted Toyota Customer Care, but they told me the dealership makes the warranty determination. At this point I'm trying to

Right rear passenger window failed. Came out to my vehicle at 4pm 5/4/2026 at work in a secure lot. Right rear passenger window appeared exploded out. Almost all of the glass was on the ground, only some of the tempered glass fell in onto the seat. Took many pictures showing the glass bowed out. Filed a police report. Police found no foul play, also noting the nature of the damage protruding out. Police are reviewing parking lot camera footage and no foul play has been indicated to date. Took picture of dashboard temperature in the vehicle showing 73 degrees outside, peak temp reports for Batavia NY show 74 degrees. No mowing services took place during the day. No driveway services. Nothing that would introduce flying debris. I park away from other vehicles to protect my vehicle from incidental door damage that may occur if people park too closely. I did not notice any issues prior. I hand wash my vehicle nearly weekly and keep it immaculate. I bought the vehicle brand new. Currently has ~9,300 miles. I have not had time to take the vehicle to Toyota for inspection. The police helped remove the broken glass so I could safely drive home. Using Google I did learn that Toyota is experiencing window defects where windows are spontaneously exploding. Very scary, I have 3 young children and am very thankful this did not happen driving. Reports are while in vehicle it sounds like a gun blast when the windows explode.

The panoramic moonroof on the 2025 Toyota Sequoia spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was stationary. Nothing hit the moonroof. Was told by the dealership that it was caused by a pressure imbalance and although this is a know issue Toyota will not cover it as corporate doesn't see it as a issue. Was lucky the screen as deployed as it caught the glass from hitting the driver.

The 2nd panel of the panoramic sunroof literally exploded. Was sitting, stationary after a brief highway drive when it exploded cacophonously. Toyota won't cover under warranty because they're saying that it had to be resultant from an incident. But, literally, it just blew up 100% unprovoked.

While driving with my family in the car our panoramic sunroof exploded out of now where. Now after a week of waiting and missing work due the dealership waiting to see if warranty is going to cover it. I’m being told to utilize my insurance because the panoramic isn’t covered under warranty.
No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.
Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
