Electric power steering system warning light keeps coming on which indicates a malfunction in the EPS, comes on and off at different times, since I bought the car in June 23, 2021

Last May I took my 2018 Camry in due to "low braking Power" light coming on. Toyota informed me that it was part of a recall and they did not know how long it would take. It was over a month and they fixed the problem. Now a year later, the same problem is taking place. Again, "low braking power" signal is coming on.
Low brake pressure
2018 Toyota Camry- Consumer has steering issue and submitted copy of complaint sent to NJ Office of Attorney General Division of Community Affairs- Consumers Comment Letter & Note of referral. Attached is the Invoice for repair and inspection report.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was stiff. While driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was difficult to turn. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
During replacement of Brake Light Switch, observed that original switch nut was installed up-side-down. Replaced switch, because vehicle intermittently would not go into gear. It is highly likely that brake lights were also not working intermittently. Vehicle only had 20K miles and I assume it came from Factory with the switch nut installed up-side-down. This condition allows the brake switch to be misaligned.
Low braking power. Car couldn’t move
Steering wheel is becoming harder and harder to turn right or left
I purchased a brand new 2018 toyota camry le with nothing but problems from the beginning. The brakes have been bad from day 1. The make noise when braking and they supposedly fixed it. I was driving on the freeway down a hill and when I went to press on the brakes they did not do anything and I had the pedal all the way down. I had to pump the brakes putting me and my passengers in danger. The engine hesitates when accelerating. I took it in twice already and they don't know what the issue is. Once it finally decides to go it accelerates excessively putting the driver in danger. This has been going in for years.
The car’s dashboard will light up and all systems started failing with no warning while driving. The car will not accelerate, brake, or steer properly. It happened twice and the Toyota mechanics couldn’t figure out what was happening and just tried changing something out on the engine. A few months later the same thing happened again (today). This is very dangerous as I have no control when it happens and I can’t control the car. In all instances, I was driving on a busy road, the entire dash lit up, I couldn’t accelerate despite pushing it all the way down with my foot, and I couldn’t steer the car. Luckily, I was able to get off the road before I was in an accident.
After continued usage steering becomes stiff and turning becomes very difficult. This then possess a safety risk to not only the driver but other drivers. The cause is failure of the intermediate steering shaft. Toyota has recalled 170,000+ 2018 Camrys because of this - https://www.tsbsearch.com/Toyota/22TE02, but it is clear as per my incident and other online forums, there are 2018 Carmys that have not been recalled where the intermediate steering shaft fails without notice. When the dealership was called, they said they were well aware of the problem and stated they would order the part even before my car was taken to the shop, even though the repair was not covered under my VIN. The dealership replaced the intermediate steering shaft at a cost to me. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to the failure. The failure first appeared around March 27th, 2023.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry equipped with Hankook Tires, Tire Line: Kinergy GT, Tire Size: 235/45/R18, DOT Number: 5MN91BH. The contact stated that during a routine tire rotation, the tire technician advised the contact that she needed to replace all four tires due to premature treadwear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where replacement tires were purchased. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 95,000. The tire failure mileage was 33,000.
That gas damper strut on the trunk lid failed, allowing the trunk lid to sprint open dangerously fast. I have been hit in the face with it and also on the top of my head when it rebounds. The car is available for inspection. We will have the car serviced soon and have them confirm the failure. The car/failure has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others.
The contact owned a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving through an intersection at approximately 46 mph when another vehicle driving at approximately 40 mph crashed into their driver-side door. The air bag did not deploy. Both vehicles were damaged. The contact's vehicle was totaled and was determined to be totaled. A police report was filed. The contact received injuries to their head, back, and leg. The passenger received injuries to their upper body. No medical attention was needed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 83,100.
On Feb 20, 2023, during my evening lunch break about 7:30 pm, I drove my car to a nearby gas station to fill it. As I was attempting to back into place, my brakes froze and a "Low Braking Power" message appears in my dash and my car hit a pole because it would not stop. On Feb 21, 2023, I towed it to our family mechanic who informed me that there was a recall on this issue and to take it to a dealer instead. I had it towed to Temecula Valley Toyota. They offered me a rental car while they repaired the recall issue and sent a request to Toyota to repair the damage to my bumper from the loss of brake performance. I was told there would be no charge because it was a recall. They wanted a deposit of $100 since we only had a debit card not a credit card. on March 8, someone left a message on my voicemail saying Toyota said they were only paying for 2 days and they wanted to let us know they would be charging a substantial amount to our car. This time of the call was 4:48Pm. We called back at 4:55p and got no answer. I immediately checked my bank statement and I had been charged $675. Toyota has had my car since 2-21-23 and no info on its return. Customer Service Relation person called after we did an online complaint with Toyota, and also with a Toyota person at Toyota.com named Matthew. The Customer Relations person who called around 3-18 or 3-19 and said the case was with Toyota Legal. Its 3-28-23 and no information. We want our $675.00 back because we have auto insurance that c
The a25a-fks engine fails to idle properly and will stall at times due to a cylinder imbalance. ICS malfunction light comes on as well. This puts other people at risk because a vehicle stalling or malfunction of the Toyota Safety Sense system can lead to car accident. Vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics and couldn’t find the root of the problem. Was told to go to a Toyota Dealership. A Toyota dealership inspected the vehicle, done several tests, swapped computer modules and couldn’t find the cause. The dealership replaced fuel injectors, fuel pump and had done a cleaning on the intake and the vehicle still had the trouble code. 4K worth of work and the vehicle still persisted with the issue. What I first noticed from the car was an odd knocking noise when starting the car, followed by excessive white smoke at idle, parking sensors not working, the car improperly starting for the first time followed by a ICS Malfunction, blinking parking sensor icon and check engine light. Code: P219C. The dealership wants to charge me 10K to take the engine apart to either replace a faulty part (within the engine) or putting in a new engine all together. Several recalls for Toyota Camrys from 2018 and 2020 have sighted defects with the engine blocks causing white smoke and stalling. These recalls should be extended to more manufacturing months as this is a noticeable flaw.
2018 Camry XSE BRAKES GO ON WHILE ON DRIVE PRESSING ON THE BREAK WOULD BE A STRUGGLE WHEN DRIVING PADAL ON THE BRAKE WERE STIFF HARD TO STEP ON EVEN AFTER DEALERSHIP PROVIDED THE SERVICE FOR THE RECALL VEHICLE STILL HAD ISSUES AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY GO ON FOR NO REASON WHILE BACKING UP THE VEHICLE SENSORS ARE DETECTING HUMAN or ITEM THAT ARE NOT THERE. SCREEN ON VEHICLE MARKS SEE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTANCE. 2 DAYS AFTER IT WAS HELD FOR 2WEEKS THERE FOR MAINTANCE.
Transmission issues car will not accelerate and then will abruptly speed up. The vehicle will stall at 15 mph and then shift and shake. The safety of driver put at risk while on the road because the car would go from 15 mph to 40 mph and traffic following behind could potentially rear end vehicle. Dealership inspected vehicle and informed Camry will need new transmission, no warranty left, current mileage only 69,500. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure. The vehicle was serviced at Toyota late December and no transmission issues indicated. The vehicle was purchased new directly from Toyota dealership. The vehicle should not have transmission issues with mileage of only 69,500. Toyota has failed consumers enormously with the 2018 Camry SE model.
Hello, for the recall on the brake assist, this was repaired at Brunswick Toyota on 7/8/2022. I have documentation I'd like to provide as evidence for this.
My door locks won't lock any of them by remote or on the door.. Last night I loved them all & my remote acted like it did the beep beep.. All of a sudden after 3 mins my alarm was going off.. Then I went out & unlocked my door & then locked it back by hand of course then 3 mins later alarm going off again.. So I just unlocked the door..
I was stopped at a stoplight with my foot on the brake when all of the sudden my car just started driving forwad. I step on brake harder and no response. I then pumped the brakes and still nothing. I was about to try the emergency brake but it was too late and my car hit the truck in front of me.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the brake pedal was stiff while depressed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,773.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the front driver’s side seat belt failed to latch securely. Due to the failure to securely latch, the audible chime continually beeped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the mechanic was in the process of replacing the seat belt and the latch. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
Steering wheel hard , to turn
Toyota Camry 2018 SE - 8-speed automatic transmission fails to engage properly when leaving stoplight or making slow turn from highway. Left stoplight and made left turn at next intersection where transmission failed to engage and vehicle stopped moving (engine remained on but transmission disengaged). Number of following vehicles made emergency maneuvers to avoid the stopped vehicle. Put vehicle in Park, turned off ignition then restarted. Vehicle OK after that (this was fourth time a similar incident occurred with subject vehicle). Toyota dealer in Katy TX could not identify source of problem and indicated that nothing could be done to help. No other technical inspection was conducted other than by Toyota technicians. No warning lamps or signs prior to failure.
Driving on the freeway, cruise control set, a remnant of a large tire was in my lane, I could not avoid hitting it, it caused my car to lose control, drive up on the concrete divider placed by construction crews, came back down to the freeway and hit the back of a semi causing my car to then spin out of control and eventually landing in a ditch. The entire front end of the car was damaged, the car was deemed totaled by the auto repair place. During this incident none of the airbags deployed.
While traveling 54 mph my transmission stop responding to my gas peddle input. I pulled over to the side of the highway and placed the selector into neutral and back into drive which help with the problem but it returned within minutes. The check engine light illuminated and I drove to the mechanic and was told that the diagnostic code was the transmission sensor and the sensor was checked but know problems were found. With this car, I have pulled into the highway, in traffic , in the car stalled, as if it had extreme Turbo Lag which is very dangerous. The transmission is awful.
There are multiple warning lights on my dash at this time. The following malfunctions are showing on my dash at this time: Pre-Collision System Malfunction, LDA Malfunction, Headlamp malfunction, SRS Malfunction, Low Braking Power, Secondary Collision Brake System Malfunction, Power Steering Malfunction, Antilock Brake System Malfunction. These started coming on around two weeks ago. I have no blinkers available and my steering stiffens to where the car is almost undriveable. I contacted Toyota corporate office and the representative said she has not heard of these warnings, but they are on many Toyota forums on the internet. I took the vehicle to Toyota North in Goodlettsville, TN on 10/12/2022 and they can not tell me what is wrong with my car. I feel it is a safety hazard to drive this car at this point since this car has automatic braking power. I also have videos available, if needed. This is going to cause someone to get seriously hurt.
The contact owns a Chicco car seat, Model Name: Fit 4, Model Number: 05079645320070, Manufactured Date: (Unknown) being used in a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while the child was exiting the car seat, the shell, and back rest of the seat detached from the base. The plastic had started to deteriorate. The styrofoam was also falling out of the headrest. The manufacturer was not contacted. The car seat was not replaced
The brake vacuum pump failed while driving through the city. The part failed coming off a red light at an intersection. Lost braking power as soon as I drove off. On the notification screen, I received a "Low Braking Power" signal.
Some times car will not accelerate no matter how much stepping on the gas pedal, car will slow down like its going to stop or no power to the car while car is moving/driving. All lights on the dash board lights up, one of them that is known is the "brake malfunction" light.
Purchased this 2018 Toyota Camry SE from DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota as a "Certified Pre-owned Vehicle". During early periods of ownership, the transmission noticeably experienced hard, jerking shifts during acceleration and de-acceleration between the first several gears of this 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle was brought back to the selling Toyota dealer where they said the transmission's performance was within spec and this was "normal" for this transmission. The most recent return for the transmission problem was April 2022 where the service advisor at the selling Toyota dealership stated their mechanic confirmed both that the vehicle received the software update issued by one of Toyota's TSB's (Technical Service Bulletin) which addressed owners/complainants' reports of hard shifting, and they confirmed the transmission had the proper level of fluid. It was noted there is no dipstick to check transmission fluid and I was informed this has to be done by a mechanic with the car on a lift from underneath the Camry. On Friday evening 09/24/2002, while driving Camry, the transmission began to stutter andsoon failed to engage ANY of it's gears and when pressing on the accelerator, the engine would Rev with increased RPM's, but the vehicle would not move. It had to be towed back to the DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota Dealership where it is currently parked with an inoperable transmission awaiting a diagnosis for either repair -o- replacement.
Hankook Kinergy GT 235/45R18 94V Toyota Camry OEM tires. 31215 miles. Sidewall bubble along lettering line. This is the second tire that has bubbled in the same area. 2 tires have been replaced and the remaining 2 will now be replaced due to safety concerns. No pictures were taken of first tire failure.
After filing a complaint on the other front tire, I checked the other side and the tire is doing the exact same thing. Hankook Kinergy GT 235/45R18 94v OEM tires on 2018 Toyota Camry with 31215 miles. Sidewall bubble along lettering line. This will be the 3rd tire on this car to fail in this manner.
Vehicle was in stop and go traffic on I94 when pressing the brake pedal it failed. Second try with both feet and pedal again went to the floor with no resulting stopping power. Found article Toyota has begun recall of Camry's due to failure of Power Boost. Warnings did not show up on display until vehicle was about 10 feet from another vehicle showing failure of ICS system and see dealer. Also another warning saying Advanced Ultrasonic Detecting Ranging System Malfunction regarding Intelligence Clearance Sonar and to see dealer.

I don't know why
I was driving down the road on interstate at 70 mph and my 2018 Toyota Camry SE warning message steering power low alarm and one to two seconds later my steering wheel pulled violently to the right barely missing truck in right lane by inches. I was in center lane. I was fortunate it was not rush hour and no vehicles were in back of the truck in his right lane where the car was steered. Toyota dealer was approximately one mile and half way. I went to the far right emergency lane driving slowly and arrive at dealer. Service manager drove the car around the parking lot and said I had steering failure and will need to replace rack and pinion parts. The car had approximately 30,500 miles only. I am fortunate my car was at the rear of the truck back tires when this happened. This is was a very close near miss. Toyota has been of no help in this matter wanting me to pay $3700 dollars for repairs. A set of tires last longer than this rack and pinion. How safe can a car be if you can not reply on your steering.?
Braking Malfunction OVERHEATING shut the whole car down. Drained my battery starter, window module, blind spotting warning,
System malfunction
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while his wife driving 75 mph, the vehicle's speed began to decelerate to 10 mph. The contact stated the "See Dealer Immediately" warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to drive at 10 mph to their residence. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with "bad fuel". The contact stated they continued to experience a failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, but they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact experienced the failure for the third time and took the vehicle back to the local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the failure with needing an ignition coil to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the wife experienced the failure for the fourth time. The driver took the vehicle back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing all the ignition coils to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
When opening the trunk the trunk lid opens very fast and makes contact with the rear window. This has a very high potential to break the rear glass making it unable to see out off.
The hood doesn't stay open. The hood uses two gas struts to be opened and they failed causing the hood to slam into my head and neck. The hood doesn't have a prop up bar which can keep the hood propped open. My car is a 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 70,000 miles on it. The hood was opened all the way for 5 minutes before it slammed shut on me.
While entering the highway/merging onto on ramp. Have to yield to merge, upon slowing or reaccelerating. Vehicle hesitates and feels as if gear not catching/slipping.
Fuel\propulsion system, There was no power given to the engine when I turned a corner with an exorbitant amount of time. There was a car at least 100 yards away. When I put my foot on the gas pedal there was no power. It felt like the car did not switch gears for the fuel pump or Pistons just were not working correctly. The car almost rear-ended me and caused a major accident. This has happened multiple times.
Brake light switch failure causing loss of break lights and other safety features such as emergency stopping, lane change notification, loss of anti-lock brakes, and other safety features.
The car is currently bricked and I am receiving messages on dash telling me power brakes are not functioning and parking brakes unavailable low power braking also electronic issues with my front camera is not functioning but I don’t have a front camera.
The entire brake system became inoperative on my 2018 Toyota Camry on two separate occasions causing a near fatal accident and damaged to my property and to the property of the other driver on the road. The first incident occurred on the freeway while I was driving behind another vehicle. As my car approached the other vehicle, I press down on the brake pedal all the way but my car would not slow down or stop but continue to accelerate thus causing me to rear end the other car. My car gave no prior warning that the brake system was malfunctioning. I was deemed by the insurance company as the responsible party for the accident thus my insurance premium was increased. The second incident occurred when I was in a residential area approaching my driveway. The car again failed to stop when I pressed down on the brake pedal. The emergency hand brake did not work either. I had no choice but to shift the car into parking which cause me to hit the curve and only inches away from my garage door. The brake fluid under the hood of my car bursts thus leaking the fluid all over the street and my driveway. Both of these incidents caused my elderly mother and myself great emotional stress and post traumatic symptoms. Prior to this Toyota issued a recall on all 2018 to 2019 Toyota Camry for the potential brake failure. I had to towed my car to the Toyota dealership for repair. It has been over 3 months and Toyota has done nothing to remedy this problem. They claim the parts for the brakes are
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the “Rear Crossing and Blind Spot Monitor Inoperable" message was displayed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they confirmed the monitor failure and provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 13,600. The VIN was not available.
When vehicle is stopped from slow speeds, the car lurches to a stop because the brakes grab much harder than the pressure being applied to the brake pedal would indicate. These touchy brakes can alarm passengers in the vehicle and pedestrians near the vehicle causing them to be frightened that the vehicle hit something. Toyota developed a fix for this problem which is described by T-SB-0033-20 but the fix was not published until 4/8/20 (less than 6 months before my 36 month warranty expired) and was only applicable to vehicles in warranty so when I discovered the fix, my car was out of warranty and Toyota refuses to perform the fix at no charge.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
