The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at approximately 10 MPH and slowing for traffic in a parking lot the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that he was able to stop the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the vacuum pump brake assist assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The mechanic advised the contact that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and referred the contact to a dealer. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who advised the contact that the recall was voided on his vehicle since an independent mechanic had worked on the brake assist assembly. The contact notified the manufacturer and was advised that the recall was voided. The vehicle was repaired but the contact had paid for the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

The cars "Brake Power Low" warning light illuminated on the dash. This was covered as the Brake Vacuum pump for another 2018 Camry that we have, but is not a recall for our other Camry. I am taking it in to Servco Hawaii to diagnose the issue, but again, this was the same issue that our other Camry had. The brake is spongy, and I checked the brake fluid to ensure that it was topped off. This was the first time that I noticed the brakes being spongy.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal depressed all the way to the floorboard and the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. The ABS and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 149,000. The VIN was not available.
Car was brought to dealership for brake vacuum booster recall. After being assessed it was lowered to the ground and the Front RH Strut /Spring Assembly broke free from the vehicle - The internal portion of the mount was completely rusted apart thus detaching from the outer “shell” of the strut mount leading to a completely unsafe condition that required repair. The vehicle has 145,000 miles and no other signs of rust near this part, parts related too, or on the body panels near this area. Parts have since been replaced and car is operational. Could have caused accident if coil Spring broke free of assembly during regular driving. No warning lights, strange noises or other indicators spoke to how decayed this part was. Not caught during inspection prior to car being purchased 2 yrs ago.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the failure was due to the coolant bypass valve. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I have notice for the past year when I’m driving the car around the city around 15-30mph the emergency auto braking system alarm sounds and shows on my dash board when I have nobody in front of me luckily the car doesn’t brake at all but is not normal for it to do that it just happens randomly maybe this year alone it happen 5 times. Nobody safety was put at risk the car doesn’t brake or anything but it just sounds the alarm to brake, like 100% of the time is a low speeds. I haven’t taken it to the dealer, and I have no warning lights nothing at all is just random.
I was driving my car and out of nowhere my brakes stopped working I was really scared because I didn’t know what was going on thanks God I didn’t have an accident when the car stopped I check the cluster and it said “ breaking power low stop in a safe place” I look it up on the internet and it said that the problem is that the vacuum pump assembly isn’t working and that the Toyota Camry 2018 thro 2023 they all have that problem “recall” I was wondering if my car qualifies to get that part for free
Water Pump, Toyota Camry 2018 LE, 2.5. In the last maintenance carried out at Courtesy Toyota, Brandon, I informed the Dealer that the Check Engine Light was on, I told them that I had visited 3 different places on the same day to detect the fault and it told me that the problem was the code P26CB, Water Pump. They told me that they had to diagnose the car one more time and that the cost was $200.00 (this is a scam when the problem was already detected). Additionally, I understood that the water pump of my vehicle model had a recall, because it came out with a factory defect and a new car is practically not one for the water pump to be broken in such a short time. The Dealer did not want to solve this problem in the warranty of this claim, who informed me that I had to pay $1400.00 for this repair ($500 for the part and 900 Labor) (another bigger scam) so I had to buy the part from Toyota OnLine to solve it. It is unfair that in such a short time a part of the vehicle is damaged due to a manufacturing problem and the Dealers (who we all know that their main objective is to obtain profits rather than solutions for their clients) abuse and do not assume the brand's responsibility to solve problems and projecting a negative image towards them. The warning lights were on the vehicle's dashboard indicating to stop and visit the Dealer, but no solution was possible on their part. Many people have complained about this damaged part of the vehicle in these models due to the electric
The transmission stopped working at approx 78,000 miles. The car completely died while driving with my children in the car. The tech said the fluid was black and there was no apparent cause of the transmission damage.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to Customer Support Program: 22TE02. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 50,000.
1.The transmission in my vehicle suffered not one, but two failures or malfunctions. Regrettably, as of March 13, 2024, I am no longer in possession of the vehicle. However, I do possess video footage, photographs, and a diagnostic report from the Toyota dealership, along with statements that I personally addressed to Toyota USA regarding the matter. 2.The transmission failure jeopardized both my safety and that of others on the road. While driving, I experienced a dangerous situation where pressing the gas pedal resulted in the engine revving, but the car failed to accelerate when necessary, posing a significant risk during critical moments. 3.The dealership confirmed the issue on two separate occasions. This problem occurred twice and was verified by the dealership. 4.The dealership conducted an inspection on the vehicle, but to my knowledge, no inspection was carried out by the police, manufacturers, insurance representatives, or any other parties. 5.Instantaneously the failure occurred, warning lamps, messages, and other symptoms indicating the problem were present.
Vehicle should have automatic emergency braking safety feature when vehicle is driving in “Reverse”. I made a very careless and dangerous mistake because I was in a rush and placed my vehicle in “Reverse” instead of “Park”, immediately after parking on the street in front of my friend’s house. Not realizing the vehicle was in reverse, I quickly opened the driver’s side door and placed my left foot on the street as I was getting out. Suddenly, the moving vehicle and opened driver’s side door knocked me down on the street and continued to drive in reverse crushing my body. The vehicle should have stopped the moment it hit something or before it hit something. Instead, the vehicle smashed me against the pavement, rolled right over me, and then continued in reverse at a rapid speed. At the same time, my friend was getting out of the front passenger side and was almost pinned against a telephone pole that the opened passenger side door hit, but thankfully she got out of the way just in time. The car, however, continued running in reverse. Another friend had to run down the street and literally jump in the driver’s side to quickly place his foot on the brakes. I was still laying injured on the street in agony, and sustained multiple injuries.
Driving down the interstate it started snowing and it was a wet snow so it was sticking to the front of the car. Warning light for the front collision light came on and said was disabled or something like that. It was also white outs during this snow storm so with that out not knowing if there's a car in front of me put not only my life but my husband's life in danger. Once we stopped for gas and cleared front of car off it was fine. We've owned this car since 2018 and this is the 1st snowstorm we've encountered this.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that extra effort was needed while turning the steering wheel, and for the steering wheel to return to center. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle was outside the production date for a Customer Support Program. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
I brought my car in for maintenance and while the vehicle was on the lift, the top mounting bracket of both front MacPherson struts failed and allowed the coil spring to decompress to the furthest extent allowed by the other suspension components. Both struts catastrophically failed within 10 minutes of each other, causing a loud violent bang, but not immediately when the tires were lifted off the pavement. By all measures, this is a design flaw that allowed moisture to be trapped in the top strut mount which greatly accelerated this component's failure. Every other visible portion of the strut and all other components on the under carriage look almost pristine, showing almost no corrosion. The maintenance and subsequent repair did not occur at a Toyota Dealership
Turned on the car Drove about 30 seconds and car states that secondary pre collision emergency brake and it just stops on a busy street With no other signs of defect ever . My vehicle goes to the dealership constantly and is very well taken care of
The Car would not go above 2000 Rpm’s and would jerk back and fourth when trying to go above 2000 RPMS
On [XXX] my daughter brought her 2018 Toyota Camry with 62k miles into Mike Calvert Toyota of Houston Texas for brake noise. The service department evaluated the car and recommended that the rear brakes be replaced. With that advice she had the work done. She left the dealership that day and went home and the car sat until the morning of [XXX]. She had some traveling to do out of town and returned that same day. She got within 45 miles of her destination when I got a frantic phone call from her saying that she was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop. The warning on the vehicle says Low Braking Power. I was able to have her put her hazard lights on a get to the shoulder where she couldn't get her speed below 10 miles per hour. She was able to use the E-break and an elevated surface to get the car to a safe spot some 45 miles away. We have made numerous attempts to get the dealership to tell us why this happened. Initially they stated that the calipers failed. After calling repeatedly we were told it was a defective part that was installed and they needed to get a new one in. The dealership refuses to answer any phone calls or emails. I have appealed to the GM on numerous occasions and the Owner with no replies. We need NHTSA to investigate whether this dealership is doing faulty work that jeopardizes lives or did Toyota fail to recall this vehicle and the issue is more wide spread. I fear for the public safety if the issue is more wide spread. This vehicle
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that upon use of the sunroof, an abnormal clicking sound was coming from the sunroof. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. On one occasion, the sunroof remained stuck in the open position and failed to retract as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repair and remained with the mechanic for a week. The mechanic was able to retract the sunroof; however, the sunroof track remained defective, and the contact was advised to not use the sunroof. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 MPH with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle lost braking functionality with the brake pedal being depressed to the floorboard. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence, and later had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a failed high-pressure fuel pump. The contact had previously received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Pulling into parking stall in front of a store at a slow speed and my Camry Hybrid unexpectedly accelerated and lurched forward. I could not stop the car and the car hit the building at the end of the parking stall
The xle Camry 2018 models moonroof/sunroof, stops working and there is no safety close option for the moonroof. It gets stuck open and the only option to get it to close is a $10,000 repair. I have extended warranty that will cover this plus 14 days of a car rental, but the dealership cannot guarantee when the parts will be in, so I have approximately more than 30 days for my car to be repaired. So I still have to pay more than $1600 for fees plus car rental and no assistance from Toyota. (this is including there is more than 3 cars at the dealership with the same issue).
Complaint Regarding Toyota 2018 Camry SE - Power steering went out while on the highway. - This is a known problem but not covered under warranty. I am writing this letter because, on August 1, 2023, my wife, and I, were involved in an accident with our 2018 Toyota Camry, which may have been due to SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, a defect which affected Camry owners for over 10 years, and is still happening. Most of these accidents occurred when the driver was pulling slowly into a parking space and their car suddenly accelerated strongly and couldn’t be stopped by hitting the brakes. The car only stopped when it hit a solid object. This often resulted in serious injuries, even death. On August 1, my wife was driving the Camry (I was in the front passenger seat) and she was in the process of slowly pulling into a parking space at Parkside Town Commons in Cary, with her foot on the brake. Without warning, the car suddenly accelerated and she was unable to stop it by hard braking. The car jumped the curb in front of it and climbed a landscaped incline, only stopping when it crashed into a wrought iron fence in front if it. There were no vehicle warning messages prior to the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the Camry had over $6,000 in damages and the fence was bent badly where the car hit it. We called the Cary Police and a Police Report was made. No tickets were issued by the Cary Police. Our Toyota dealer referred us to a higher level Toyota office that deals with special vehicle problems, which we called. We reported the accident, they said it would be reviewed. We have had no response from theToyota high
I all of a sudden started smellinggas but could not find any leaking underneath the car, also my car started giving lower mileage. Called the extended warranty and submitted the car to Firestone auto care. They ran a fuel system inspection and found leak. They removed and replaced the the fuel line and fuel pump. They said the can was at risk of catching fire and this is unusual
The contact owned a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH and attempting to merge into a tuning lane, he collided with another vehicle on his driver's side front end panel. As a result, the vehicle careened to the right over a pedestrian walkway and into a wall. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The driver went to an area hospital on his own and received an x-ray and treatment for various aches and pains. The other driver was transported to an area hospital and treated for unknown injuries. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 92,000.
The fuel door release mechanical system has not been working since the car was purchased. The fuel door release mechanical system has very flimsy parts. I believe that this model and year also had a recall on the fuel pump because of a flimsy part as well.
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after shifting into park, the air condition system was activated, and the engine revved with the RPM elevated. The contact turned off the A/C and then turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated at rapid speed then decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact stated that no diagnostic test was performed due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact refenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
Replaced brakes in June on the 19th, 23rd and my brakes are squeaking and goes all the way to the floor sometimes before my brakes actually works. I have take my car back to Toyota twice and they said nothing is wrong with my car. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed so it can be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!!
Electric power system warning light comes on, indicates a malfunction in the EPS, why is Toyota ignoring this problem, this warning comes on at different times
Since we bought the vehicle new in late 2018, in hot weather we sometimes see gas running down the side of the car below the filler pipe door, and a little puddle of gas on the rubber just inside the filler pipe door. We can't park the car in our garage because of the gas fumes, and we worry that in a collision, the underlying cause could make a fire more likely. We've had the car to the dealer service department and they can't find a cause. I know from a www search that other Camry owners have had the same problem. The dealership wants us to leave the car with them long enough for them to observe the problem, but we can't handle the financial risk of the service and the car rental while our car is at the garage being monitored for the problem. And of course it is a waste of time trying to get Toyota to take responsibility, which is why we're writing to you. The date entered in this submission is the first time we noticed it (it was the first hot weather since we bought the car).
Low braking power message and
Car does not accelerate from stop at a traffic light intermittently. THis poses a risk/hazard as the car behind it closes on it and expects the car to move forward . The vehicle was recalled a year ago for a fuel pump that was supposed to cause the same issue. Its been replaced and the issue has shown up again and now cannot be reproduced by the manufacturer.
Electric power steering warning light which indicates a malfunction in the EPS system comes on almost every other week. If there is a software update for this problem why Toyota does not fix it? Are they waiting for an accident to happen?
Low break power
Wipers are too slow to safely see during a downpour of rain - went to dealer - was told nothing was wrong with wiper speed. This is my 4th Toyota and 3rd Camry and all other cars had a faster speed. I noticed this before but thought it was me - but after a 9 hour drive during heavy rain storms - I realized it is the car,

Low brake power warning randomly comes and now the brakes are not working. Also having intermittent ics malfunction problems.
Doors come equipped with touch active door lock. Where you press on the door and it locks and if you put hand on the handle it will unlock. First the passenger door stopped working. It doesn’t lock the car. Now the driver seat stopped working. You have to lock doors manually and some times it won’t unlock the door for you after car is locked.
My vehicle is displaying a low break message and is telling me to park for safety. However, the vehicle is not movable from my garage.
Vehicle is experience DTC P26CB71 (Electric Water Pump Stuck) Same other 2018 Camrys have experienced
Subject: Concerns Regarding TSB T-SB-0017-23 for Toyota Camry HV Vehicles Dear NHTSA, I am deeply concerned about the recently released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) T-SB-0017-23 by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. This TSB addresses a potential issue with the active grille air shutter actuator in specific 2018-2020 Camry HV vehicles equipped with the A25A-FXS engine. Releasing the TSB in April 2023, after the warranty periods for many affected vehicles have expired, is unfair to owners. A 2018 Camry HV's warranty period of 36 months/36,000 miles ended in 2021. This situation raises significant concerns as it burdens owners with the financial responsibility of repairs for an issue that was not their fault, potentially compromising safety if repairs are not promptly carried out. Toyota's inadequate efforts to ensure all affected owners have access to necessary repairs are disheartening. I urgently appeal for a thorough investigation and decisive action to ensure that regardless of warranty status, all owners of affected Camry HV vehicles can obtain essential repairs. I would like to bring attention to a similar TSB, T-SB-0319-17, issued by Toyota in November 2017 for Prius Prime 2017 and 2016-2017 models. This TSB addressed a comparable issue with the active grille air shutter actuator. Toyota extended the warranty for affected vehicles in California by 180 months or 150,000 miles, aligning with the manufacturing year and ensuring all vehicles were covered. The repair was cove
2018 Toyota camry hybrid at a stop sign the car would not engage into drive while it was on ""D" when I let my foot off the brake to hit the gas, the cars "BRAKE HOLD system" failed. I then shut the car off and back on to reset the car, which allowed me to get to the next STOP sign and It happened again a few times until I made it home.
My car has only 56 K on the odometer and suddenly last week my steering wheel starting to get stuck, at time it feels like it is locking, and then a second later is normal. i see there is a recall for power steering #22TE02, but when i search my vin #, this recall is not showing for my car
My instrument panel went black. I can no longer tell how fast I'm going I can no longer tell if my safety features are on or off. I can no longer see if my tire pressure is good or bad. I've checked the fuses and there is no blown fuse. Also my odometer reading is on this screen and I'm not able to see it.
Multiple system malfunctions lights stay on. Dealer does not not what the issue is. Windshield wiper and signal light also not working.
I bought the car 6/23/21 and since then The electrical power steering system light indicates a malfunction , I had it serviced three times and so far the warning sign still goes on, I called Toyota and they can't help me, I do not want to wait for an accident to happen before it is taken care of.
I started getting weird shifting and hesitation I had around 70,000 miles took it to my local Toyota dealership, they completed several software updates. Also did a transmission fluid change that didn’t really resolve the problem now at about 113,000 miles I started getting odd shifting, and at higher speeds, when accelerating abruptly, the vehicle put itself in limp mode and will not accelerate further. Add 115,000 miles I took the vehicle into the Toyota dealership because the check engine light came on after accelerating onto the highway and the vehicle stalling and upon their investigation they found out that I would be needing a new transmission which is a little odd at 115,000 miles with the car only be five years old. Toyota, you should do better.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
