2013 Thor Motor Coach Palazzo

Defect. Thor Motor Coach (TMC) is recalling certain 2013 Thor Ace, Daybreak, Challenger, Windsport, Hurricane, Outlaw, Tuscany, and Palazzo motorhomes. The windshield wiper system may have been incorrectly installed, causing the wipers to fail during use, reducing driver visibility.

Risk. A reduction of driver visibility can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. TMC will notify owners, and dealers will verify that the windshield wiper system is installed correctly, repairing or replacing the wiper system as needed, free of charge. The recall began November 28, 2018. Owners may contact TMC customer service at 1-877-855-2867. TMC's number for this recall is RC000161.

Defect. Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling various 2003-2018 recreational vehicles, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy. Thor will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Defect. Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Challenger, Four Winds 5000, Hurricane, Chateau, Chateau Sport, and Windsport; model year 2013 Palazzo and Four Winds Siesta and model year 2014 Majestic motorhomes manufactured February 13, 2013, through April 09, 2013. If the awning installation sequence was not completely followed, the awning motor may unknowningly become damaged. A damaged motor may lead to an unfurling of the awning.

Risk. If motor damage occurs, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the motorhome is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Remedy. Thor Motor Coach will notify owners and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with a design that is not subject to an out-of-sequence installation error. The recall began during May 2013. Owners may contact Thor at 1-877-855-2867 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Defect. Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling certain model year 2011 through 2013 Tuscany, Astoria, Ultrasport, Montecito, and Palazzo recreational vehicles manufactured from May 17, 2010, through October 30, 2012, built on Freightliner brand XB and XC custom chassis. The vehicles are equipped with diode jumpers that may come loose in their connectors resulting in an open circuit. Two circuits are affected: The one that disengages the cruise control with brake pedal use, and the one that illuminates the brake lights with brake pedal use.

Risk. Failure of the cruise control to disengage when the brakes are applied may increase the risk of a vehicle crash. Without the brake lights illuminating when the brakes are applied, the driver's intent is not communicated, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Daimler Trucks (DTNA) will notify owners on behalf of Thor, and Freightliner dealers will inspect the diode jumpers to make sure they are fully locked in place and will correct the vehicles as needed. The recall is expected to begin January 28, 2013. The front driver and passenger window seals or some other component in the windows failed and the windows are fogged up. This makes it difficult to use the side view mirrors on the coach.

Driver and passenger windows are fogging up unexpectedly which causes loss of view. This is very dangerous when driving as it is difficult to see my side mirrors.

PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAS STARTED FOR FOG OVER. MAKING IS MORE DIFFICULT TO SEE CLEARLY THRU THE RIGHT HAND OUTSIDE MIRROR.

VISIBILITY THROUGH FRONT STATIONARY PORTION OF DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS COMPROMISED DUE TO INTERNAL "FOGGING" OF TWO-PANE GLASS WINDOW. REAR PORTION OF WINDOW SLIDES FORE AND AFT. AT SOME SUN ANGLES THIS FOGGING OBSCURES DRIVER'S VIEW OF LEFT SIDE MIRROR MAKING VIEW OF ONCOMING/PASSING TRAFFIC DIFFICULT.

THOR USES HEHR DOUBLE-PANE WINDOWS IN MOST OF THEIR PRODUCTS. THE WINDOWS FREQUENTLY SEPARATE, AND THE GLASS PANES CAN FALL-OUT ON THE ROAD, CREATING A HAZARD.

A FRIEND ON AN RV TOUR LET ME KNOW THAT MY RUNNING LIGHTS ON THE SIDE OF THE RV BLINK ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND ON THE LEFT SIDE WHEN YOU TURN ON RIGHT TURN SIGNAL, THEY ARE WIRED IN REVERSE. I HAVE CONTACTED THOR AND THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THE SAFETY ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF THIS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. *TR

2013 THOR PALAZZO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE WATER LINE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS WITH TIRES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE RV WAS DELIVERED TO HIM WITH OUT OF ROUND. AN IMMEDIATE BREAK IN THE WATER LINE OCCURRED A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE RV. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED WHEN DRIVING THE RV, THE RIDE WAS HORRIBLE, ROUGH AND EXTREMELY NOISY, AS WELL AS HARD TO HANDLE. THE CONSUMER LATER LEARNED IT WAS DUE TO THE OUT OF ROUND TIRES.
