Suzuki Motor USA, LLC: Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Master Cylinder
Suzuki Motor USA, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 16, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 6,338. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Suzuki Motor USA, LLC (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2022-2024 GSX1300R (Hayabusa) motorcycles. The master cylinder internal rubber components may swell due to contamination from the brake fluid cap diaphragm, which can result in a blocked brake fluid port. As such, these motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 122, "Motorcycle Brake Systems."
The risk
A blocked brake fluid port can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder body and brake fluid cap diaphragm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners may contact Suzuki Customer Service at 1-714- 572-1490. Suzuki's number for this recall is 3A04. This recall expands and replaces previous recall number 23V-088. Motorcycles previously recalled under 23V-088 will need to have the new remedy completed.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 24V769000.
