Shyft Group: Steering
Shyft Group reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 30, 2024 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 797. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Shyft Group is recalling certain 2023-2025 Spartan RV K2, K3, and K4 chassis. The steering gear may have foreign material inside the gear that could build pressure within the system, resulting in a loss of power steering assist.
The risk
A sudden loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Shyft Group will remove and replace the steering gear, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 21, 2024. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 24-01.
