PACCAR Incorporated: Seat Belts

PACCAR Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 26, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 3,841. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2020 Kenworth T660, 2018-2024 Kenworth T800 and W900 vehicles. An additional spacer may have been added to the joint that connects the seat to the seat belt tether and buckle, causing an unsecured connection.

The risk

An unsecured seat belt connection may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and remove the additional spacer and replace the bolt, as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 20, 2024. Owners may contact PACCAR's customer service at 1-425-828-5888. PACCAR's number for this recall is 23KWK.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V717000.
