Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc.: Equipment › Mechanical › Winch
Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 4, 2023 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 3. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. (Ferrara Fire) is recalling certain 2022 Ultra and Inferno fire trucks, equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote. Water may enter the handheld remote control for the winch and cause circuit board corrosion, which can allow the winch to operate unintentionally.
The risk
A winch that operates unintentionally increases the risk of injury.
The remedy
Ferrara Fire will work with Warn Industries, Inc. to provide owners instructions on how to inspect the remote for corrosion and disable the wireless function by removing the battery pack from the remote. If corrosion or water intrusion is found when removing the battery pack, owners should stop using the remote and contact WARN customer service for a replacement remote, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by June 25, 2023. Owners may contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 23V317000.
