Daimler Vans USA, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 8, 2020 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 9. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter vehicles. These vehicles may have been delivered with a version of the printed and digital operator's manual that may be inaccurate and/or incomplete.

The risk

If the operator relies on the provided owner's manual, the information about vehicle functions and other safety relevant information may be inaccurate and/or incomplete, which could lead to improper operation of the vehicle and potentially increase the risk of a crash or injury.

The remedy

DVUSA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the printed version of the operator's manual with the latest version and update the software of the digital version, free of charge. DVUSA distributed owners an interim notification on January 22, 2021. The recall began March 17, 2021. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for this recall is VS3PRIDIBA.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 20V756000.
