NHTSA campaign 19V635000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Chrysler (FCA US LLC): Service Brakes, Hydraulic › Foundation Components › Disc › Caliper

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 29, 2019 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 5,495. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019 Ram 2500, 3500 and 3500 Cab Chassis trucks. The brake calipers may have been manufactured with an incorrect assembly fluid, which can cause the caliper's rubber seals to swell.

The risk

The swollen seals can cause the brakes to drag, potentially overheating the brakes and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake calipers and brake hoses and bleed the brakes, free of charge. The recall began October 24, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US' number for this recall is V98.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 19V635000.
