Starcraft Bus: Equipment › Electrical
Starcraft Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 18, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 29. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Starcraft Bus is recalling certain model year 2009 and 2010 Allstar transit buses manufactured August 20, 2009, through March 30, 2010 and equipped with A & M Systems-brand passenger entrance/exit doors. Voltage spikes may damage the electrical components and electrical circuits of the door actuator, causing the circuit board to develop high resistance.
The risk
High resistance may cause the board to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Starcraft Bus will notify owners and dealers will replace the affected circuit boards, free of charge. The recall began on March 17, 2014. Owners may contact Starcraft Bus at 1-800-348-7440.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V059000.
