Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc.: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer › Lpg Systems › Furnace
Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 31, 2012 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 740. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Aspen Trail, Coleman, and Dutchmen recreational vehicles manufactured from October 4, 2011, through October 01, 2012. These vehicles may have been manufactured without an exterior vent for the furnace.
The risk
Without proper exhaust ventilation, the vehicle can fill with carbon monoxide resulting in asphyxiation. The heat build-up may also increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Dutchmen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, install an exterior vent, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2012. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 12V529000.
