2013 Dutchmen Travel Trailer

Defect. Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Aspen 1400RB, 1500BH, 1600RB, 2110RBS, 2470BHS and 3010BHDS travel trailers; certain model year 2013-2014 Coleman CTS14FD, CTS15BH, CTS16BH and CTS16QB travel trailers and certain model year 2013-2014 Dutchmen 190QB, 282RBS, 286BHGS, 318RKDS and 816QB travel trailers. Heat from the range burner may melt the propane supply hose.

Risk. If the hose melts it may leak propane, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dutchmen will notify owners and dealers will install a copper line to the propane connection in the burner, free of charge. The recall began on August 7, 2013. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0600. Dutchmen's recall number is 13-195.

Defect. Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013 Dutchmen 245RKS recreational vehicles for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." On these vehicles, the Federal identification tag lists the wrong Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and the wrong Gross Axle Weight Rating.

Risk. Incorrect tag information could result in overloading of the vehicle, causing tire or axle failure, resulting in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Dutchmen will notify owners and mail replacement labels with corrected information, free of charge. The recall began on April 25, 2013. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700.

Defect. Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Aspen Trail, Coleman, and Dutchmen recreational vehicles manufactured from October 4, 2011, through October 01, 2012. These vehicles may have been manufactured without an exterior vent for the furnace.

Risk. Without proper exhaust ventilation, the vehicle can fill with carbon monoxide resulting in asphyxiation. The heat build-up may also increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dutchmen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, install an exterior vent, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2012. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700.

Defect. Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2013 Coleman 192 and Dutchmen 196 recreational vehicles manufactured from April 12, 2012, through July 9, 2012. These vehicles have been manufactured with the propane line in close proximity to the rear axle hanger which could be damaged by the rear axle hanger bolt during travel.

Risk. If this occurs, a leak could develop, and in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire and/or explosion, increasing the risk of personal injury or property damage.

Remedy. Dutchmen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, replace and re-route the propane line, free of charge. The safety recall began on August 18,7, 2012. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700.

UNSURE HOW FAILURE OCCURRED. FOUND AFTER STOP AT CAMP SITE. REPLACED WITH SPARE. THE TIRE IS AN AKURIT NOT IN THE DATABASE LISTING

TIRE BLOWOUT WITH LESS THAN 2000 MILES ON THEM. DID DAMAGE TO THE TRAILER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DUTCHMEN COMFORT TRAILBLAZER TRAVEL TRAILER (NA). THE TRAILER WAS PULLED BY A 2011 FORD F150. WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRAILER'S REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE AND TRAVEL TRAILER OVER AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH AN EXTINGUISHER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS COMMON. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE TRAVEL TRAILER WAS 1,500.

ON A RETURN TRIP FROM ALASKA WE STOPPED IN MANITOBA, CANADA AT A REST AREA. A PERSON TOLD US THAT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE CAMPER. I OPENED THE DOOR AND HOT AIR AND SMOKE FORCED ME BACK OUTSIDE. I UNHOOKED THE TRUCK AND REMOVED THE PROPANE TANKS AND MOVED THEM AWAY FROM THE BURNING HULK. IN FEW MINUTES THE CAMPER WAS TOTALLY BURNED. A CANADIAN POLICEMAN CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THEY PUT OUT THE FIRE. WE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAMPER UP TO THE POINT OF THE FIRE. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS BEING OPERATED ON PROPANE IN TRANSIT. OUR INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED US THAT THERE WERE RECALLS ON CAMPERS OF THIS TYPE; HOWEVER WE HAD NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTIFICATIONS FROM THE SELLER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DUTCHMEN ASPEN TRAIL RV EQUIPPED WITH WESTLAKE ST TIRES, SIZE: 202/75/R14 (N/A). THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE SIDEWALL TREAD SEPARATED AND CAUSED A BLOW OUT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE OFF THE ROADWAY AND INSTALL THE SPARE TIRE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE TIRE TO A DEALER, WHO TOOK PICTURES OF THE TIRES AND FORWARDED THEM TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 380. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE DOT NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
