ABS system fails at randomly disabling the abs brake system and the cruise control.

Anti-lock brake system (ABS) failure for second time in less than 18 months resulting in warning lights on dash, and message for service system. These include the ABS light/traction control unit light turn (warning lights, bells, and verbal system warnings) turn on whenever the truck goes over rough road, bumps, potholes, randomly, as well as starting up truck. The first incident began in July 2022 was brought into the dealer on July 18, 2022 and mileage on truck was 25,121 miles. Dealer diagnosed replaced the anti-lock brake system control unit for brake system and returned truck to me. In November/December 2023, the ABS light and traction control unit lights on dash keep coming on and system says to see dealer. These include the ABS light/traction control unit light turn (warning lights, bells, and verbal system warnings) turn on whenever the truck goes over rough road, bumps, potholes, randomly, as well as starting up truck. It also appears the cruise control will not work if the ABS system is in error. Dropped off at dealer 12/29/2023 and dealer advised that they could not repair at current time due to no parts available and earliest update may be late Jan 2024 if available. The parts that need to be replace per the dealer are the Anti-lock brake system control unit and the ABS module need replacement and no parts were available at the current time (12/29/2023) to repair the truck.

ABS and Stability unit has failed, vehicle has 26160 miles . Dealer and manufacturer know of defect and refuses to provide any fix. This is a serious safety problem, and vehicle is unable to be used .

Abs / traction control system failure and cruise control no longer function. This has been intermittent since May, 2023. This became permanent in November, 2023.

My third ABS module failed while towing (aka hydraulic control unit), resulting in a loss of ABS brakes and issues controlling the vehicle and trailer. The truck had 67,000 miles at the time of failure, and all modules have been replaced with OEM components, one of which is at my expense. There is absolutely a known problem with the HCU and Chrysler needs to issue a recall to remedy the issue and reimburse owners who have been forced to repair these vehicles out of pocket.

Hcu system failed now trucks and system is messed up, can’t use cruise control and nervous too drive the truck for safety reasons. Dealer says it could be months for a new system

My antilock braking system is defective and is not working. I understand that this is a common problem with my vehicle. It is a safety related issue and should be recalled. The code reader indicates C002001. Ram TSB S2005000004.

Electronic Barking System. Brake Anti Lock System Frequently Flashes Alarm on dash screen. Yes it's available for inspection upon request Alarm is going off so we are at risk at any time. Seen by Dealer. Diagnostic code DTC C0020-01. Tech verified the DTC is active. Tech has isolated problem to the ABS system. I've read up on this issue it is apparent the is a VERY COMMON ISSUE. Why are there no recalls on this problem?

Service electronic brakes, traction control, and service trailer brakes light stays on.

The ABS module is defective on my truck which controls the antilock brakes, Anti slip function, and the cruise control. Dealer ship has diagnosed problem and ordered parts but the parts have been on back order for quite sometime with no ETA from RAM when parts will be available. My dealer ship says they currently are wating on 25 parts for different vehicles with same problem.

At around 74,000 miles in December of 2023, a warning to "Service Electronic Braking System" and "Service Antilock Brake System" started to show up on the screen of my 2018 Ram 2500 6.7. The truck was taken to a Ram dealership and the fix to the problem was determined to be replacement of the ABS module in addition to replacement of the HCU. Apparently, the ABS module is faulty and is causing the HCU to go bad so both need to be replaced. Replacing only the HCU will not fix the problem. The truck has not yet been repaired as a new ABS module is not available until June of 2024. When driving, the on screen errors come up frequently at all driving speeds and the error is present the majority of the time while driving.

ABS intermittently turns off, brought to dealer and advised that ABS control unit and pump need replaced. Also went to service garage with same diagnosis. Dealer advised that the part in question, the ABS hydraulic control unit (HCU) was not available and would be redesigned maybe next year 2024. This problem has persisted since August 2023. It is dangerous to have the brakes compromised and the uncertainty of stopping prowess. The internet is full of identical issues concerning the 2017-2018 Heavy Duty Rams being afflicted with this issue. Chrysler should be accountable.

I'm just reporting the failure of my HRU as many RAM owners have experienced. The dealer ship replaced the part with the new model. When this fails it happened at highway speeds disabling the cruise control while towing a trailer. Becuase of busy traffic and under heavy weight when the truck fell on its face. I was almost rear-ended due to the sudden loss of speed. Very dangerous when towing.

ABS sensor light comes on at random times. My truck just reached 100,000 miles. I've performed no troubleshooting but it is extremely intermittent, either the Service the Automatic or Service the Electronic Braking System(s). Usually, a bump in the road makes it come and another turns it off. Sometimes it happens so quickly, only the message and traction control disabled light comes on, sometimes only the chime comes in. Sometimes the message stays up and the brake warning and traction control light comes on, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes a couple of seconds. To compound the problem, there appears to be an issue in sourcing replacement parts resulting in a delay in repair. A delay in repair could result in a additional damage to the vehicle, not using the vehicle (not an option) or ultimately an accident.

ABS and traction control light comes up randomly. Sometimes comes on then off with a chime each time rapidly for the entire time the truck is driven. Or the lights will come on and just stay on. At times the brakes become hard to stop the vehicle. Also does not allow the cruise control to work. I use this truck to haul goose neck 8 ton dump trailer and a 36' fifth wheel not knowing if the truck brakes will work is very concerning. Took it to the Ram Dealership and was told needed to replace the ABS pump at $1260. Vehicle only has 63,000 miles.

Driving along my ABS and TCS light intermittenly appear. I looked into this briefly and have noticed that there is a larger issue in this case. There are thousands of Ram 2500 owners who are having this issue. It is a defective part from the manufacturer and should be covered under a recall. I do not have the funds at the moment to pay for these repairs, so in turn I will be driving with not traction control and no anti lock brake system.

ABS warning light comes on and message to get ABS serviced appears...took truck to local auto repair and they checked ABS and said ABS module was bad...tried to get part but was told it would be June 2024 ( 6 mos ) before part would be available...was told this was a common problem and it SHOULD be a recall on the module but so far no recall..I got on line and found out that this part is defective and can cause serious brake problems...Class action suit is in the works

At exactly 75100 miles my 2018 Ram 2500 Tradesman gets a warning light to service my anti-lock braking system. Since I was on a trip I also noticed when the warning comes on it also disengages the cruise control. This has been happening for over 1,000 miles and a couple of months. I've tried to look up to see if there's a recall, but there isn't. I do see several hundred posts/complaints online and even other people contacting NHTSB about this issue. My truck seems to be acting fine now, but I haven't had the time to bring it into a dealership since I'm constantly on the road. I have tried to contact a Ram dealership service department, but no help come of it. Since Ram knows about this, they should recall the trucks and fix them.

2018 Ram 2500 ABS hydraulic control unit failure

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the electronic braking system was inoperable. While driving at various speeds, the electronic braking system intermittently became inoperable. The service electronic braking service light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer on several occasions, where it was diagnosed that the main module and wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The mechanic informed the contact that the parts were on back order. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The VIN was not available.

I purchased the truck used from Kunes dealership in Sterling Illinois with about 80k miles. It shifted harder than I was use to in low gears, right off the bat. I was advised everything was good with it at the oil changes and inspections. In June 2023 I noticed it would not shift into reverse and without yanking in the shifter. It lunges once forward while in park in my driveway. At just over 100k miles the check engine light came on. Coded as needing a new transmission. Also in September 2023 while driving it a brake warning light flickered in and went off. Haven’t seen it again. I think there are problems with this truck. The shifting slow and hard in low gears seemed odd and I worried about proper acceleration to avoid a rear end collision. I understand very little about vehicles but this one has been doing dangerous things that makes me worry about the safety of it.

My ABS and traction control lights come on and off. When the lights are on I have no ABS or cruise control. When the lights turn on and off it's a distraction to my driving. If I am driving with cruise control and the ABS light activates I lose cruise control and have an abrupt decrease in speed. If I brake on a slick surface such as mud without ABS sometimes I skid and my stopping distance is increased.

ABS/HCU is a known issue for failure. Mine is intermittently flash alerts for service/problems. 1000’s of people are having these issues. Where is the recall? This is a safety issue, is it not.

Abs pump motor control-general electrical failure Going down the road it will flash service abs brake failure( something to that effect) then instrument lights abs, traction control come on with constant chime beeping. If you are on cruise control it will quit.. also abs and traction control don't work and will not engage.Not very safe to drive in wet conditions. Took to dealer ( code 45806) and person pulled code dtc C0020-01 stored abs pump motor control-general electrical failure. Was told need up to 5 days to diagnose problem and with holidays I will wait til after Jan 1 to take it in. Problem comes and goes but will come on everytime I drive it then after a restart it might go away. Dealer visit was 12-18-2023 time 12:41 pm dealer code 45806 will have the info.

The abs light blinks and sounder beeps on and off intermittently while driving and the cruise control does not stay functioning when this occurs.

Got a code for service abs system, abs module pump bad. Ram cannot even get people in to fix the issue and they want like 2000 dollars out the door to fix this unsafe issue. I also have no cruise control now and no abs. This is an absolute shame that my truck only has 66k mostly highway miles and is now worthless because I cannot afford to fix it. Ram will not fix this issue under warranty. There is a current lawsuit under James Neu vs. Fiat Chrysler to get them to make this a warranty issue and fix it. Please please please release the recall so we can get our trucks fixed! Thousands of trucks are affected and at risk of accident. ABS HCU and control module repeat failures. Initial failure when vehicle purchased 12/20/19 (repaired by warranty replacement on 2/25/2020 @625 miles of the HCU and ABS control module). Current failure 12/18/2023 @ 6300 miles.) So the failure problem is recurrent. Failures are intermittent and cause deactivation of the ABS, ESC, and Cruise control systems. This results in sudden change (slowing) of vehicle speed upon cruise deactivation. Also the loss of ABS and ESC can be hazardous depending upon roadway conditions and vehicle operation at time of failures. Failures can persist for days or perhaps subside for a brief time. This vehicle problem apparently exists on more than one 2018 2500 RAM. When at the dealer for first failure repair, two other 2018 RAM 2500's were in service for the exact same issues. Brake warning light flashes warning alarm sounds. . disables the trailer brake. this one safety concern and makes my vehicle unavailable for towing abs disabled as well. Dealers says HCU is suspected . Parts are not readily available.

2018 Dodge Ram 2500. I have been working with the dealer to have the ABS module repaired for over 6 months. All 2017 and 2018 2500 and 3500 are having issues with the ABS module not working properly. The dodge representative said there is not a fix and does not know when one will be available.

The "Check Antilock Brake" message appears on the dashboard. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic who confirmed that it is either the supplementary brake fluid pump, or the brake pump control unit. Because of the intermittent nature of the problem, the manufacturer requires replacement of both expensive parts, as they do not know the exact problem. Because of the issue, the following vehicle features do not function: * anti-lock brake system * electronic stability control / traction control * cruise control * the holding of the rear brake on a hill until the operator accelerates (important in a standard transmission truck used for towing)

As with thousands of other owners with this model of truck my anti-lock control module is bad. The malfunction causes the anti-lock brakes service light as well as the traction control service light to be on. This malfunction renders both systems to be inoperable, thus causing a major safety concern.

Originally I started feeling like my brakes weren't stopping as well as they had been. The pedal seemed to feel soft and have further travel than normal. I recently had my brakes inspected by a certified mechanic, so I was confident it wasn't the actual brake pads, rotors, or calipers. After a day of this I started getting intermittent ABS system and traction control lights. About a day or two later the lights became more frequent until they eventually stayed on. During that time I was out of town while pulling my fifth wheel camper, so I wasn't in a good position to get the truck to a mechanic. Needless to say I felt my situation was becoming unsafe. Once I returned home I got the truck in to my mechanic and his troubleshooting led to a faulty ABS module and Hydraulic Control Unit. This was a very expensive repair. Once I was told what the diagnosis was I started to research this issue online. This is when I discovered that others were having this same issue and that the NHTSA had already opened up an investigation into this.

Error code saying "Service Electronic Braking System" and anti skid brake stop working and crash avoidance braking (rear ending someone) stops working. Dodge is saying no replacement until March 2024. There is a recall to fix 2019 and newer so not sure why 2018 was excluded from this recall to fix a serious safety malfunction in the braking system.

The ABS failed at 34k miles. The ABS and/or traction control lights turn on intermittently while driving. Using a scanner I see Code C0020-01 ABS Pump Motor Control Electrical Failure. I called dealerships and many online vendors and parts are on national backorder 1yr. I don't let the family ride in my truck anymore due to safety concerns. Even a slight touch of the brakes and my truck skids. It's wet and cold here in Seattle making it even more dangerous.

ABS/Traction Control dash light comes on and off randomly all the time. The sound is infuriating and kicks off cruise control. Today I came over a hill on highway and there were cars stopped in all lanes ahead. I stepped on the brakes hard and the abs didn't work causing the tires to lock up. I did not hear or feel the normal pulsing in the pedal. I feel there is an actual problem with the abs system and not just an annoying chime and light on the dash. There are thousands of threads about this problem online and I feel that it is cause for a recall. I checked with local dealer and the parts are extremely limited supply because of all the people with the same problem.

ABS & traction control lights on along with messages reading "Service Antilock braking system and Service Electronic Braking System. 1st intermittently then very often. Code C0020-01 is stored in the system via OBDII scanner. It is available for inspection at any time. I can not tow anything that requires trailer brakes because I here, through many other online complaints that trailer braking will be inhibited. I have not yet taken it to the dealer yet because it is out of warranty and the part required to fix it properly won't be built/available until Feb 2024. I first saw warning lights/messages in July of this year 2023 with around 37,000 miles. See attached pics.

Bought vehicle used in August 2022. In August 2023, started getting intermittent chime, abs and brake warning lights and messages to service anti-lock brake system and to service electronic brake system. Took it to my mechanic and he diagnosed a bad abs control module and bad abs hydraulic pump fault codes. He did some research and found this to be a known problem with these trucks. Apparently Stelantis is working the problem but no fix. My mechanic doesn't want to replace the parts for fear the replacement parts are bad too, so I'm living with the problem. He said in the mean time, be aware I have no anti-lock brakes and no cruise control.

ABS Service Light and warning bell keep coming on. I've had this fixed twice and appears looking at forums that investigation is under way as part is failing on most all 2017-18 Ram 2500 trucks. Please make Dodge to replace under recall.

The ABS and Traction Control lights flash and ding on/off intermittently. Sometimes the lights on the dashboard come on as soon as I leave the driveway and sometimes it takes several miles. But once they flash on and ding on the dashboard, the lights flash on and off intermittently for seemingly no reason at all. I am not sure if this is due to an electrical issue, a hydraulic control unit issue, or something else, but something is not right, making the lights and dashboard flash/ding a lot.

The ABS and Traction control lamp keep flashing on and off intermittently. When those warning lights are not lit up, I can use the truck normally. However when they do light up cruise control no longer functions. I have not tested if ABS or Traction Control is not functioning, but I am not going to take a chance. This endangered my family, and surrounding drivers as I was towing our trailer on the freeway and had set the cruise control. In the middle of the drive, the warning lights came on, and the cruise control turned off by itself. At the time we were climbing up a grade, so the truck slowed down rapidly. The Semi-Truck behind almost crashed into me as I tried to determine if I had an engine failure, and deciding if I had to pull over. They honked at me repeatedly. I determined that it was not an engine failure and I could increase speed. By then the truck was below 30 mph. I may have caused more catastrophic issues behind me but, I could not see past the 5th truck behind me. My wife was screaming at me to pull over, and was upset that the vehicle was not working. It works, but the brakes are not dependable for ABS, and cruise control is not dependable. I drove the vehicle several times since and the issue keeps occurring. I have not taken it to a dealership, and do not drive the vehicle anymore at this point. The vehicle has not been inspected as that would require driving it to be inspected. The ABS and Traction Control warning lamps started to illuminate around Novembe

The ABS-HCU is defective causing a loss of the safety aspects of it purposes, Constant warning alarm and flashing screen.The parts to repair are not available. My dealer is not optimistic of the part replacement correcting the problem, it might be the Electronic Braking module, got an additional fee. The dealer would not say it was safe to operate but advised against towing I stated that was the purpose of the truck.

Issue with ABS and HCU. Known issue with Ram trucks but no recall for 2018. "Service Electronic Brake System" warning comes on and off constantly.
