2018 Ram 2500 complaints

Service electronic brake system code came up. Brought it to the shop and they said it’s a known issue with this year model and ram is aware. Told me it’s a $2500 fix. I feel that a safety issue that is know and I had to fix myself is not fair in its self not safe!

ABS and traction control system failure. Allows dangerous wheel lockup in snowy or slippery conditions. Also cruise control function failed. The warning lights sometimes cease and cruise control function resumes however the function will suddenly fail when warning lights resume. Tires have locked up several times in snow and created momentary loss of control. In addition, sudden loss of cruise control while in use causes sudden loss of speed while at freeway speeds. Dealer says that ABS and HCU modules are bad. Vehicle has not been inspected by mfg, police, insurance. Was reviewed by dealer. Warning lights for ABS started appearing in September of 2023 and before there were any wheel lockup issues. The cruise control function failed immediately when warning lights appeared.

HCU hydraulic control unit the ABS light and traction control intermittently coming on and going off this has been an ongoing issue for nearly a year. This has been “replaced” once already. It is now out of warranty no parts available to fix. I pull a camper if this malfunctions while pulling camper this could tragic for my family. I called dodge they provided absolutely help. This is a known issues and Texas and California have class action lawsuits over this part with dodge. This truck only had 49,000 to date. We need help getting this part recalled before someone gets hurt.

I have an intermittent abs warning that turns off abs,traction control, and makes the truck brake worse when it happens. Diagnostics indicate a abs pump failure performed at dealer and an independent shop. Dealership says there’s a hold on the part from Chrysler engineering. I have been informed it’s several of the 2017-2018 2500 rams and makes driving the truck dangerous.

My ABS notification light continues to come on. I had body work done at a collision center for the rear quarter panel and when they had their mechanic inspect it, he determined that the ABS module was faulty. Additionally, the collision center indicated there is a current class action lawsuit for the very same part. The ABS and traction control will go on intermittently and continues to do so the entire time the vehicle is driven. Fortunately, I haven't had any accidents as a direct result because I refuse to take long trips or travel on the freeways for fear of it failing when needed most. The part is almost impossible to locate and when there is one available its either grossly overpriced or reserved within minutes of locating one.

ABS control unit failure

The ABS light continuously comes on and off, especially when hitting a bump or going down a gravel road. Traction control light and ABS light will come on and off which ultimately causes a lack of control when roads are icy or wet. It's especially dangerous while in tow.

2018 Ram 2500 6.7 L Problems with ABS Module Control. Replaced in October of 2021 now bad again and on back order with no date available. This module controles abs braking, traction control which are safety items designed into the truck. I've had the truck to 2 different repair shops and both confirm the problem and both tell me that Ram is having a problem with this part and the the part is on backorder

ABS service light comes on intermittently causing inconsistent braking, especially during bad weather. I need to know I can count on my anti-lock brakes. Many calls to the dealer service center and they say there is no fix for the problem. How can this be? Brakes are a fundamental necessity for a vehicle. They won't / can't fix this? Please investigate. I know I am not the only person with this issue. My brother owns the same 2018 RAM 2500 and he is also having the issue. Also, there are thousands of complaints about this online. Please investigate and keep Stellantis accountable!!!

ABS light and traction control yellow warning lights are illuminated on dash. It Also chimes when it appears. Going to dealer Thursday 2-22-24 to scan a code and be put on the waiting list.

ABS light and Traction control light came on. Shows code C0020-01 which is for the ABS pump motor control failure, which also works with the hydraulic control unit This part not working can cause the vehicle to go out of control while braking due to lack to ABS and also to go out of control while driving/accelerating due to lack of traction control. The code was verified by a national parts dealer The component had not been inspected, although many Ram owner online forums show that this is common part failure on trucks that are not even very old or have high mileage

Abs General Electric failure. I don’t have traction control or abs and I live in the mountains where these systems are necessary. Very unsafe and parts aren’t expected till June 2024

The abs / traction light continues to flash on and off. When light is on the abs and traction control does not work. Cruise control is also disabled when the lights come on. To repair the problem is a 1,000 dollar abs aluminum block and abs module. Plus labor. Thank you for your time and help

Service abs system and traction control

The truck constantly has an ABS Module and Stability control failure/ code turning on and off causing the ABS/ Cruise Control/ Traction control to no longer function. Research shows that the ABS Module and Hydraulic control unit need to be replaced and programmed by a dealership and parts are nearly impossible to find

The abs system failed and caused the cruise control to not function as well as the trailer brakes not operating. It has been inspected by a certified ram dealership in Corscanna, Tx and confirmed that the abs system is out. The abs warning lights comes on and off, on a 30 mile trip it will come on and off 15 or 20 times. This started in May of 2023 on a planned trip of 330 miles pulling a 10,000 pound Rv. The Ram dealer told me the parts would be in in August of 2023, and then in Oct of 2023 and then Jan of 2024, and now April 2024. The dealer tells me it will cost $1600.00 to repair it. I have warranty but no one can get the parts. Thanks

Abs module failure. first time covered under warranty at 11,906 miles. second time not under warranty at 24,786 miles, and currently in failure mode.

ABS and EBS warnings, traction control warnings repeatedly turning in and off. Code - C0020-01. Cruise control inop when lights/chimes are going. This has been going on for nearly 8 months.

The traction control/service abs system on dash came on following the loss of vehicle cruise control while driving on busy 3 lane of traffic during hill climb causing instant loss of vehicle speed. ABS module failure. HCU failure. Braking system completely out of whack. I purchased the truck new. Warranty is expired. Many many complaints online of the same problem. Parts are unavailable to fix. RAM needs to fix this shit asap. Get a recall going. This is completely unsat.

I have been having antilock braking system and electronic braking alerts come on the dash of my 2018 Ram 2500 for a couple months now. I have tried to have it repaired at the Pohanka Ram in Salisbury, MD in which I was told that the ABS module and HCU unit were under "engineering review" and all parts would not be released to repair. I also confirmed with the Lakewood Dodge Dealership in Seaford, DE and IG Burton Ram in Georgetown, DE. All 3 dealership report the same issue that RAM will not release the parts for repair. I have a truck that is an obvious risk on the road, and will not pass Delaware motor vehicle inspection in March when my tags end. I have seen that there is a class action lawsuit and a huge amount on owners reporting to this agency. This is huge issue and is affecting a large amount of people that own 2017 and 2018 Ram trucks.

The truck developed and engine tick. They got progressively worse, and it felt like the engine was misfiring and made the speed of the truck inconsistent when I tried to accelerate in decelerate. The mechanic told me the engine ticks were definitely coming from the lifters and we had it repaired. This was not cheap. The ticking went on for about one month before I had it repaired. I have attached the invoice.

The truck began flashing problems with the anit lock brakes and electronic brakes off and on. For over two months now, the service lights stay on along with the traction control warning light. I have called multiply locations trying to locate replacement parts to no avail. The brake pedal sometimes is difficult to push and the antilock brakes failed at a slow speed once. I have reached out for help several times and keep being told that the part is not available and will not be available for months. Last time before today I was told Feb. I called today and was told it wouldn't be until June. This is my only vehicle to get back and forth to work and to get my son to athletic events. I really need this problem corrected.

1 abs warning light and buzzer come on every 2 mile which is a distraction 2 if warning does stay off for 5 miles and speed control is set will work but when warning goes off speed control kicks off causing traffic flow problems almost got hit from rear got honked at and finger 3 been waiting for over a year for part dealer says it is not available 4 called dodge ram phone number for complaints got nowhere

The truck flashes service antilock brake system, service eletronic brake system. It cancels the cruise control on truck. On several occassions it shuts off cruise while on the interstate. You have to react very quickly to avoid having an accident. A couple of times its happened while pulling a travel trailer and nearly got rear ended by semi truck. Thats really scarey. It started about 8 months ago. Have contacted dealer and was told by service department that they know of about 2000 trucks has same issue. The parts are out of stock and back ordered. I think this is a real safty issue. Dont know what to do about this.

Hcu, hydraulic control unit, no abs, no traction control, no cruise, no 4x4 and emergency brake light on won’t go off and part is not available been waiting for over a year and a half

My 2018 Ram 2500 had an issue in 2022, where it was throwing a "Service Electronic Braking" light. Came on and off, caused the traction control light to come on as well. Additionally, this disabled the cruise control. I paid $1200 roughly to get this fixed because it was not considered part of the drivetrain warranty (50k miles). 16 months later, my truck is having the same issue and Ram wants to charge $1400 to get this fixed again.

Vehicle is displaying a “Service abs” warning on dash intermittently. It has disabled traction control and cruise control. Parts from the dealer are currently unavailable. After researching I have found that this is a common problem with this model and year vehicle.

Two years into owning this truck the ABS control unit went out (a known issue) and was repaired by the dealership under factory warranty. Two years following that repair, same issue; however, this time the issue is more severe. The intermittent service ABS system light/alarm is not as delayed between alarms and during normal braking the brake pedal firmness changes. On one occasion the pedal was so firm almost couldn't depress it and when I did, it locked up the back tires. This braking system should not be trusted and emergency braking with it... let's just say that Fred Flintstone braking system could be a better system. Available for inspection: yes. On going issue since Spring 2021 (I took delivery of the truck in Jan 2019)

ABS Brake module has failed which makes it dangerous in certain conditions to brake/slow the vehicle. Also the TPMS system, Cruise control, and all 4 wheel drive components will not work as they are processed through this module. This module failed in October 2023 and is unavailable for my mechanic to fix my truck. It is now February of 2024 and I am being told that this module will not even be available for order for my mechanic to fix until June of 2024. This is dangerous and unacceptable to have a braking system not working properly for 8 months or more! Service ABS system, TPMS light, and Traction control lights came on when this first happened in October of 2023 and have stayed on constantly since then.

(I had to pay for parts and labor on ABS replacement that RAM neglects to issue a recall.) this costed me $1,252.11 April 16, 2023 — A Ram ABS module recall allegedly should have been issued by Fiat Chrysler because of problems in 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and 2017-2018 Ram 3500 trucks.

ABS BELLS GO OFF ALL THE TIME AND SAYS SERVICE ABS , CANT EVEN GET THE PART , NON STOP PROBLEM .

2018 Ram 2500-continued failure of ABS system-ABS warning light and service ABS system error code come constantly. When code is on ABS braking system, cruise control, and 4 wheel drive do not work as well. Truck has been serviced 3 times for this issue and dealer says ABS module needs to be replaced but they do not have a fix or the parts available to fix it at this time from Ram.

Abs lite comes on. service electronic braking system message. cruise will not work when fault is active. second time for this. fixed first time under warranty. truck only has 60k miles.

The ABS light has continuously turned on the last two years of owning the truck. We took it to a mechanic that informed us a recall should be called because it was a common problem that 2018 Ram 2500 have been experiencing. A recall still hasn’t been called even though many people have had the same issue.

The anti lock brake system has failed on my 2018 Ram 2500. This has been confirmed by the dealer as well as an independent shop. First case was hauling a trailer full of wood, a car pulled out in front of me, I slammed the brake and the anti skid failed, brakes locked up. The only reason I didn’t completely lose control is my trailer brakes worked and stopped the swerve. Since that day the ABS light has been intermittent and is becoming more consistent. Because the light is intermittent the other symptoms are intermittent to include cruise control and the most critical; traction control. This problem caused me to lose control on black ice in Hastings MI about a month ago and swerve into oncoming traffic. No accident resulted. This is a known problem on this truck and there is a technical service bulletin published as well as a class action law suit. Because of this myself, as well as other owners, are reluctant to pay thousands to fix it because we are awaiting action from your office to drive a recall. I recommend action to implement a recall before someone is killed due to this faulty system. ABS light is illuminated as well as Service Anti Lock Brake System Message. Systems lost are anti lock brakes, traction control, cruise control.

Abs/traction control lights keep pooping up on the dash. The dealer has changed the abs module and it didn’t last long. The truck has 28k miles. It definitely can cause an accident because I haul heavy loads a lot. If the abs brakes doesn’t work correctly I will crash into another vehicle. And it dings/ beeps every time I push the brakes or every time I hit a bump or something. I hope Ram can come up with a recall to fix this issue soon. Got in my truck one day and my ABS and Traction Control Lights both came on, as well as a notification in my central dash advising to service electronic brake system. At first the lights where intermittent and random. I could start the truck and the lights would be off. Apply the brakes to put in gear and the lights would come on. Drive down the driveway and a bump would turn them back on and pressing the brakes would turn them off. Now the lights stay on permanently. The ABS error code I got was C002001, or ABS pump general electric failure. I called several local mechanic shops and they reported to me that this is a known issue, parts are on backorder. I called the dealership, was advised the same with the addition that Dodge/Fiat, not only new about the issue, but changed upgraded the part and gave me the new part number, which is also on back order. Knowing this vehicle is a diesel and is designed for towing, which is why I bought it, to pull my trailers and equipment, the brake system is vital to stopping the vehicle for my safety and everyone around on the road. If this is a know issue across the nation, this needs to be addressed.

The ABS light goes on and the warning bell starts dinging. This is a safety problem as you don't know if the ABS is working or not. Dealers don't seem to think there is a problem with this. I looked online at [XXX] . And there are quite a few examples of this problem as well as what dealers are not doing. Going to this web site look for "2018 Ram, ABS and Traction Control lights. This seems like an ongoing problem that no one is looking into. One guy took his truck in, and they said they couldn't get parts to fix it for five months, but the truck was fine to drive. 11 blocks from the dealer he rear ended someone because the ABS was malfunctioning. Therefore, this is a safety problem and should be looked into by Ram and a recall issued for repairs. ABS control unit has gone out for 2nd time. Replaced at 15000 miles and at 59000 miles same issue and no resolve from Ram due to parts not available. ABS, ESP, Brake lights continue to show on dash. Cruise control and push button start effected and not working..

ABS module indicator alarm chime is going off. Dodge says part can't be ordered until June 30, 2024. Vehicle is unsafe and Ram refuses to work with me.

I am receiving intermittent, but frequent, ABS error while driving. The alarm dings and cruise control is disabled. Most times it happens every couple of minutes but every so often, it will go several minutes without the error and alarm noise. It also goes on and off when hitting bumps in the road such as crossing bridges and going over the expansion joints. As off yet, I have not had any troubles braking but am afraid that I might. 1- The ABS/HCU module. Yes it is available. 2- Possible difficulty or failure in braking. 3- It has not been to the dealer yet. I read this is a very common problem but no recall has been issued? 4- No. It has not been inspected yet. 5- Alarm sounding and "Service Electronic Braking System" displayed on dash.
