The ABS control module is not working. This turns off the anti-lock brakes and I have nearly hit someone when the brakes locked and skid across the intersection. The consistency beeping and vehicle message block the information screen. I have been waiting for over a year for the parts to be replaced. It is a shame that new vehicles safety systems doesn't work. The part is 68347098AA the replacement 68347098AB or 68347098AC is not available.

Had this issue before keep getting service electronic braking system and service abs system messages. Like I said I had this very issue about a year or two ago it was repaired by ram but was covered under warranty. Fast forward a year or two having same issue again maybe 10,000 miles later.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the ABS software update needed to be performed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS control module had failed. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 30,000.
ABS module quit working in May 2023. I can’t get a replacement as Ram claims they are coming but they are not. I pull a travel trailer and it’s a safety concern with no solution in the works
Hitting bump or random moments (intermittent). The ABS module comes up with code C0020-01 for ABS Pump Module General Electrical Fault. Truck loses ABS, Traction Control, as well as Cruise Control. Vehicles Odo is 7284 miles.
ON 3/21/2024 while traveling HCU/ABS Control module failed prompting intermittent dash lights and disabling ABS/TCS and Cruise Control. This was the first time this occurred and came without warning creating a very dangerous situation. As a result, hile traveling down the interstate during a rain event the truck lost traction at high speed (65mph in 70mph zone). This was instantaneous under medium throttle when the ABS/HCU ABS module suddenly disengaged allowing wheel spin on wet pavement. This caused the truck to briefly turn sideways on the freeway until intervened by myself the driver. This could have been very dangerous as there were numerous other vehicles in lanes on either side. No collision resulted. The vehicle has good tires and is in good condition outside of this failure. Upon investigation, I have found this to be very common on these trucks yrs 17-18. When I called the manufacturer they stated they are back ordered as it is a common failure and frequently require replacement.
ABS and traction control lights going off and on. Stating abs need serviced. Took to a auto maintenance and told it need anew pump and module would not be available until August 24,2024. In January 2021hydraulic unit was replaced now need to replace it again
Within the first 20k miles of owning this truck the check electronic power steering came on and the abs module was replaced. Now at 60k miles it's happening again from some basic research it seems that 2018 rams all suffer from this faulty part and even when it's replaced it still didn't last and the part it now backordered. ABS is a major part of the safety of a truck even more so when it's a heavy 2500. Ram needs to step up and take care of its customers and replace these units in a recall.
Abs comes and goes most of the time it doesn’t work had the issue for over a year when it’s not working no cruise control. I had rydell deal ship look at it and said it’s either the module or the pump.
ABS and Electronic braking system lights come on and off. No codes. Reading about it and there are thousands of cases across the US. Something has to be done. Definitely a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH with the cruise control engaged, the Service ABS System and Service Electronic Brakes warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the cruise control disengaged, and the traction control warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who diagnosed that the HCU and ABS modules needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Abs turns off and on by itself due to faulty abs system causing the truck to lose all abs and traction control features
Service electronic braking system Notification and ding won’t stop going off. Truck has less than 50k and through my research this is a common issue with this truck. I don’t want to drive it anymore fit safety reasons. Bought the truck 2 months ago and have had an issue since I purchased it
ABS and traction control lights coming on intermittently. I tow a camper with this and understand this is a known problem which is continuing to happen without any successful resolution.
I have intermittent Service Electronic Braking System and Service Antilock Brake System warning light. It started about 1 year ago at about 72000 miles. The diagnostic tool lists a C002001 fault (ABS Pump Motor Control General Electrical Failure. When the fault is active, I have no Antilock Brake, no cruise control and no traction control. I have no taken the problem to the dealership due to initial cost of diagnostics that they charge. Parts and labor are not covered under warranty.
Abs and traction control light come on. Then off. Some days every 5 minutes. Some days once a day. Alarms sound. ABS and cruise control won’t work. Dealer reported over 10k truck have issue. Parts are on backorder for 6 months. I was told july 2024 for part. There should be a recall. So many trucks with same problem.
Started experiencing the ABS and Traction Control lights coming on, sometimes momentarily and very intermittently, sometimes (but less frequently) coming on for long periods of time. The frequency of these events has been increasing. A scan of the vehicle indicates I am receiving these this code... C0020-01 - ABS Pump Motor Control - General Electrical Failure This seems to be a very common complaint on my truck's make, model, and year. The result is I lose cruise control functionality, four-wheel drive, and seemingly the use of anti-lock breaks and traction control. It is very irritating as the warning lights and alarms often go on-off many times a minute, often going on for hours.
ABS light and traction control light illuminated on dash. Service both comes up on info screen. Wheels will skid when braking in wet weather, rain, snow and or ice. Will lose traction when departing from a stop in wet weather, or starting from a stop on a hill. Safety of myself and any or all occupants (wife, grandkids, friends) including other vehicles and their occupants around me whenever this truck is operated. Problem has been reproduced warning lights have been on constantly for over one year and are on still today. Refuse to take it to the dealer due to the fact I have to pay for diagnostics on a safety issue they refuse to recognize as a problem, and then they want to charge me over 1K to fix with no guarantee of solving the problem. Warning lamps are on chimes from dash Lights came on 8/1/2023 and remain on to this day.
I bought a 2018 ram 2500 last year and ever since driving it off the lot the abs light constantly turns off and on and recently the abs modulator has completely failed at 115,000 miles. It affects the cruise control and braising ability of the vehicle and I cannot use the truck properly or safely due to the constant abs issues.
On 20 Mar 2024, the vehicle throttle went to full throttle and was stuck in full throttle while on the highway. After kicking the accelerator pedal multiple times the throttle came out of full and then entered limp mode with the message “service electronic throttle control” displayed. The accelerator pedal did not stick on anything and the truck actively pulled the accelerator pedal away from my foot and completely into the firewall. Luckily the brakes were strong enough to control the acceleration but this occurred in a packed part of the highway with few options to pull to the side of the road. After kicking the pedal more and cycling the power to the truck, it exited limp mode and normal operation was restored. Afterward the truck displayed no codes so the mechanic could not verify the problem. This has occurred 3 times now.
The ABS system begins to fault and flash warnings intermittently while driving down the highway or any road. This could cause the ABS system to fail on an event it is needed to avoid a crash or object in the roadway. Research on the internet shows this is a common issue with this year and model and there is a class action suit for it.
Intermittent alerts related to service ABS light on the dash along with Traction Control light. Seems to disable ABS when the fault light comes on, also disables cruise control during driving when the service alerts flash on the dash. Constant beeping of the alert is a major distraction. Truck has 26,000 miles in it. Dealership said ABS module and HCU need to be replaced but parts are on back order until August but are not positive when parts will be available. Why is this not a recall?
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), and while driving at various speeds, the head unit became pixelated and would appear and disappear without warning. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds the radio, A/C, and car phone were turned on and off inadvertently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the head unit needed to be replaced due to it separating. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60, 000.
The ABS and anti skid lights on the dash come on and off sporadically. The pump and module have been replaced. The problem did not occur for awhile. Now it has started over again. It seems harder to brake since the problem has started.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH, the ABS warning light illuminated, causing the deactivation of the cruise control. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the hydraulic control unit and ABS sensor needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the dealer that the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
The HCM for the ABS system has failed at about 50K miles. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the HCM for $850 and it worked for about 25 miles and the ABS light came on again. I took it back to the dealer and they said it must be a bad module and they are on back order and would let me know when they get one. That was about 3 months ago and I still haven't heard from them. I know this has happened with a lot of other Rams and they need to have a recall for it. When it goes out the cruise control also stops working. If I have to make a sudden stop on a wet road, my brakes will lock, endangering myself and others.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to slow the vehicle, there was an abnormal grinding sound emanating from the brakes. The traction control and ABS warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rear brakes. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Service abs ABS traction control dash lights on and off
The ABS Service Antilock Brake System messages comes on intermittently and chimes every 2-3 seconds. Some days the message and chime does not come on, but it is usually the day after the truck has been turned off for a period of time. The issue started on 16 March 2024, I still have the issue today, and it happens at any speed. After doing some research, I found that many of the same year and model truck has had the issue, and it seems to be the Antilock brake module Electronic Control Unit and or Hydraulic Control Unit. I contacted the dealership to see if I can get the issue repaired under my extended warranty, but the part is on back order. The vehicle is available for inspection, but I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealership as of yet.
ABS and Traction Control warning light always on.
Starting at about 28,000 miles the ABS & Traction Control lights would come on, Disabling the Anti-lock braking system. During slick road conditions the truck would often skid when braking, especially when towing. The anti-lock brakes didn't work. This also triggered the check Engine light, Disabling the Cruise Control. All of this would occur randomly and often with no pattern. Prior to reaching 36,000 miles on the odometer, I went to Andy Mohr Chrysler Dodge Jeep for diagnostics. Service Department reported a code for internal ABS Module Failure. I then returned to the Dealership at 39,249 miles on [XXX] for recall on drag link replacement in steering and for repair of traction control system. Steering system was repaired but parts were on national back-order for ABS Repair. They delivered truck on [XXX] but kept repair order open with no charge at that time. Received call from dealership saying parts had arrived for ABS system for repair on [XXX]. Repairs were completed and I picked truck up on [XXX]. The invoice total was $1862.27, as they had charged for the steering recall also. After a month of back and forth with the service department and then speaking to the General Manager, they refunded $187.31 on 3/4/2024 meaning the ABS repair was $1674.96. I'm still unsure if that is the correct amount. Repair order # [XXX]. Truck is now working properly when braking. The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated the antilock brake system light was on and it chimed. The contact stated the chiming was distracting and the contact was unaware if the brake system was functioning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was informed the part to repair was on backorder for 6 months. The contact returned to the dealer and the part was on back order for another 4 months. The contact stated the part had been back ordered for a timeframe of 13 months. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
Our antisocial brake modele has been out since November 2023.The light keeps coming on. We had it checked with a diagnostic check twice and it was confirmed. The dealer cannot get the part and we have tried to escalate the problem through Chrysler, they refuse to do so. The mechanics can not tell us it is safe to drive so we are barely driving the truck. We are afraid we won't have brakes and if we are in an accident, it wouldn't be covered . They can't get the part and told us that they had more than 4,000 on backorder from our dealership. This is not covered and we have to pay over 450.00 just for the part and they can't even get it in.
ABS / Traction control disabled dash lights flashing.
When taking off initially with the truck sometimes within the first 30 seconds of moving there is two yellow lights that come on the dash, while the center text window displays service brake system. The stored MIL code is C0020-01. Also when going over bumps in the road the message will also return. Sometimes it stays on, and I do not have the ability to use cruise control. One time I was driving on the freeway and the surface was wet, as it had been raining. I needed to slow down rapidly because there was a sudden change in traffic. I went to hit the brakes and the truck had locked up the wheels, and then after the same lights and text were displayed.
Abs & traction control lights come on and off constantly. Cruise control will not work when lights are on. They stay on 95% of the time. Told this is an abs pump failure issue
While driving a electric braking system message was displayed. Also an ABS and traction control warning lights came on. After driving the front disc brakes did not release, causing them to overheat. The vehicle only has 2,666 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2018 Ram 2500. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the ABS and EBS warning light remained illuminated. During the failure the cruise control feature was inoperable, and the audible warning was activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the ABS and EBS modules, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 30,000.
Hydraulic Control Unit failed, along with the control module per dealer diagnostics. The ABS warning and traction control light is flashing consistently, and the ABS system is not working. The dealer has indicated there is no estimate on when these parts will be available. This is the third occurrence of the same bad components.
Hydraulic brake system not working abs traction control no cruise. Dealer stated parts not available and not sure when
Message " service electronic braking system" keeps appearing on dash. The truck has less than 18000 miles, never off road or in snow/salt.. Garage kept. No accidents ever. I'm very concerned about the safety of the vehicle . I haven't taken it to the dealer yet, I hear parts are not available, and its a common failure on the 2017-2018 ram trucks
The abs light and traction control light comes on intermittently which is caused by the HCU. Could cause a wreck
On January 15, 2024 my 2018 RAM 2500 truck with 6.7 Cummins Diesel engine was towed to dealer after "Service Antilock Braking Systems" warnings were displayed on dash instruments. Dealer diagnosed that the anti-lock brake module needed replacement but part is back-ordered with no estimate on expected replacement date. Was told by dealer there will be no harm to vehicle mechanical/electrical systems driving truck as is without anti-lock brakes other than possible lack of traction if driving on snow/ice, etc. As of 3/22/24, latest dealer update is an upcoming 4/1/24 update from RAM Corporate unit with no information on what to expect as yet. Not encouraging when faced with mountain driving pulling heavy trailer this summer and no anti-lock braking active. Audible & Visual warnings still displaying and dinging daily at this time.
Hydraulic Control Unit failed, along with the control module. The ABS warning light is flashing intermittently, and i do no believe the ABS system is working. The dealer has indicated there is no estimate on when these parts will be available.
Hello, I have a 2018 Ram 2500 with 35,000 miles, there is a well-known issue regarding the anti-Lock Braking Systems which effects 2017 and 2018 models which, Stellantis -RAM refuses to address. My truck suffers from this issue, the ABS and traction control warning lights constantly flicker on and off and there is an audible ding when this occurs. My local dealer diagnosed the problem, and the truck needs to have the HCU and ABS modules replaced. The cost to perform this work is nearly $2,000 since the parts are expensive and there is a fair amount of programming which needs to occur. Besides the cost the main issue is that the parts are not even available. I have been waiting on the parts since November 2023, my dealer says the next "production" date for the part is late June. I received this same type of response 2 times already, first for November, then February now June. Last I checked there are over 400 requests for these parts before me. At this point I drive an unsafe vehicle with no ABS or traction control, and I can’t even get it repaired . I also can’t use the truck for its intended purpose of towing. I’m looking for some assistance in this matter. There is also an active Class action lawsuit against Stellantis to provide relief for owners of these trucks, myself being one. The ABS/EBS errors lights comes on and cruise control won't work. Did some research online seems like a common problem. Hoping to see a recall by Ram.
The electronic braking system failure alert is frequently happening. I believe this includes a failure in the anti-lock braking system also. If cruise control is active, it is also disabled.
The anti-lock braking system, traction control and speed control system continue to flash on and off. While driving here in Huntsville, Alabama it snowed and my braking system failed causing me to nearly crash.
Abs light and traction control lights went off causing the truck to throw C0020-01 error. Dealer suggested replacing HCU and ABS MODULE
2018 Powerwagon intermittent abs traction control light dinging on and off randomly. Does it more in bad weather. During dry sunny days sometimes it never comes on. From what I can tell I don’t seem to have any problem with my brakes.

What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
