2018 Ram 2500 complaints

My abs control warning goes on and off and will not allow me to use cruise control and is constantly beeping at me.

The uconnect screen has de-laminated causing random messages and a beep. Must try to exit message while driving. This is distracting and unsafe while driving. The problem may go away after restarting vehicle. It is now happening every time I use the truck. Dealer has informed me that this a known problem, but no recall. Estimated cost to me to fix could be $1,000 to $2,000. Why is this not a safety recall?

I am continuing to have warning lights telling me to service Anti Lock brake system and also the Electronic brake system. I took it to a dealership and they told me that the hydraulic control unit and the ABS module was faulty but made no attempt to resolve the problem unless I paid over $6000 for the repairs. My truck only has 122300 miles on it and it has been a constant problem. i don't have the money to pay that and it's my only vehicle.

The contact stated while driving while 50 MPH, the contact heard an audible chime coming from the center console. The contact stated that the messages, “Electronic Braking System” and “Service ABS” were displayed. The contact stated that the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were also illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving normally however, the warning lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

HCU unit intermittently come On and off. Has the potential for loss of traction control and braking.

I received notice of a safety recall concerning the brake/ anti-skid control module. This notice said there was a possibility of complete failure that could result in serious injury or death. I contacted my local dealer and was told the recall wouldn't start until the first quarter of 2025. I told them my dash warning lights were already on. Their advice was to park my vehicle and obtain other transportation because of the danger. This seems to be unreasonable to me. It would cost a lot to rent another truck for that period of time. This seems to be putting my family and me in danger! Is there anyway to proceed earlier?

Warning lights and loss of ABS braking, and traction control. The computer has been replaced before and the same issue has happened again. I noticed a recall for the same issue and same model year, but was told my vehicle is not covered by this recall. The warning comes and goes very frequently and I am never sure if the ABS will work. This vehicle is used to tow trailers and the lack of ABS brakes is a safety problem.

The contact stated while driving 72 MPH with the cruise control set, the contact slammed on the brake pedal due to approaching a crash in the roadway and the front tires locked. The contact noticed that the front tires were worn down on 16 inches of the tire. The vehicle was vibrating while driving. The contact replaced the front passenger’s side tire. The cruise control was turning on and off independently. The ABS warning light was illuminated and making an abnormal dinging sound. A previous recall led to a temporary fix of the steering linkage. This temporary fix was to weld the steering linkage. I can no longer have a wheel alignment done. This causes an increased safety risk. I am constantly subjected to tire blowouts and vehicle handling whether vehicle pull, unsafe vibrations and/or general instability of vehicle. As of this moment FCA US has yet fixed the problem. There is a part that fixes this problem but FCA won’t pay for the part to put on vehicle. There needs to be a recall forcing FCA to permanently fix the existing issue rather than place a bandaid on it.

I bought this 2018 RAM 2500 in February 2024 from a certified dealer. They indicated the ABS light was on however I was traveling out of town and they indicated my local dealer could fix this faster and lowered the price by the estimated cost for repair. I have been working with my local Mechanic for almost a year to solve the ABS modular problem but the local RAM dealership states the part is on back order or nonexistent. I have driven the vehicle very little due to the worry of an accident after not being able to resolve this issue. When driving the vehicle, the ABS light is on and constantly sounding a warning. Again, I have not been been driving this vehicle due to the dangerous situation it may cause. In my opinion, the dealership should have never sold me this vehicle, knowing that repair parts are unavailable for the ABS module. I was never informed of any recall on this vehicle at the time of purchase or since the purchase.

Abs traction control and cruise not working due to ABS MODULE FAILURE FOR S THIRD TIME

ABS warning system light constantly pops on and off.

1. Remote start will engage when initiated then turn off after 10 seconds. 2. Gear shift leveler not all the way in park when at park.

My ABS master unit/Traction Control unit has been replaced once. Now it needs replacing again. The currently installed ABS/Traction Control unit is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer service center. They are the ones that replaced the first unit. The vehicle/component has been inspected by the dealership. Warning lamps (ABS/Traction Control) come on and off intermittently while the vehicle is in use. It also comes on and off while the vehicle is idling in park.

At Roughly 38000 miles the ABS and Traction control light began going on and off intermittently. Took to local dealer and the replaced the ABS HCU and Module to the tune of $1000. Now 2 years later and 54000 miles and it has failed again doing the same thing. This is a well-known issue for the 2017 & 2018 RAM 2500 pickups like mine. This is a serious safety issue which needs to be addressed and fixed by RAM.

My trucks braking systems hydraulic control unit (HCU) is Malfunctioning. It goes in and out of service while driving and two warning lights and a buzzer will sound on and off. This part was replaced during the 3/36 warranty and again when out of warranty for two replacements before 71k miles. Now for the third time it’s malfunctioning at 111k miles. I failed to convince Ram to replace it for the third time under warranty and was denied. I was told the part and the truck is out of warranty and will be an out of pocket expense to repair. I feel the dealer installed a known faulty part and Ram should replace it with the new corrected part number at no cost.

ABS and Traction Control lights come on intermitenetly and loss of cruise control. Says service ABS Control System. This is a very common issue and something that could easily cause a major accident in not ideal situations if not resolved quickly. The dealership has inspected it and confirmed the ABS Module is the culprit. This is obviously something that is common and should be investigated more.

Service anti brake system coming on intermittently when hit bumps and sometimes not even when hitting bumps just driving smooth.

Had to replace HCU/ABS module July 2021 due to failure and abs/traction control lights illuminated fault code C0020. Now November 2024 i am having the same problem with the HCU/ABS module abs/traction control lights intermittently illuminated with fault code C0020. In process of locating new module and scheduling for repair.

The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the ABS control module; however, approximately six months later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the brake pads and rotors, but the failure persisted. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 82,000.

ABS Control module failure. My ABS warning lights started flashing last year and I spent $1500 to replace the ABS Control module 68143491AA. We are now about 6 to 8 months and it has failed again. This is a severe safety issue as I do a lot of traveling and towing. The ABS system is vital for the safety of my family and I.

Abs service abs lights come on with traction lights keep flashing and ringing.

Had my abs replaced once already with around 20k now has 57k and my light is back on

C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE continues to come up in my vehicle each time a bump in the road is hit. I am very concerned that this will cause intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance while driving and potentially endangering myself and other motorists. There are numerous complaints about this same issue on the internet with these model year trucks and FCA should be doing something about this inherent risk.

ABS warning keeps flashing intermittently. The HCU module apparently has issues. Took vehicle back for another recall issue and they told me to watch it and if I pulled trailers to bring it in. Apparently, dealers are aware this is an issue and research showed me that a recall Is possible so I am reporting the issue.

The abs and electrical brake system lights stay on. I’m worried that this will affect the functioning of the brake system. I’ve read many posts on forums about this happening to other people. It sounds like a manufacturer defect. I have not brought it to the dealer yet because the cost of repair sounds like a lot of money.

ABS control module is out, code c0020-01 I know 3 other people with the same issue. It is a widespread problem with these rams. Especially in the 2017-2018 years. How can there be a widespread issue like this and there not be a safety recall, seems like an issue with the brake system would be recalled quickly.

ABS warning light flashes then Traction Control will flash with a bing-bong noise. Now a few days later the 2 lights come on at startup and stay on. Bing -Bong noise is intermittent. Cruise Control will no longer engage. Model 2018 2500 Laramie crew cab with 122K miles. My concern is braking when pulling my 5th wheel. I think there is an investigation working right now. ABS and Traction Control light flashes on and off constantly. Dealer replaced the ABS module while the truck was under warranty, it fixed the truck for around 30 thousand miles. The truck is doing it again and now has no warranty.

I get a message that states Service air ride suspension immediately. After reading several ram forms it seems this is a big problem with these trucks. My airbags are completely inflated. I have not taken to the dealer because most of the forms I read says ram is aware of the problem but hasn't issued a recall.

Abs and traction control lights and alarms come on and off at very random times

ABS System. It is available for inspection. On my 2018 Ram 2500 HD 6.7 Cummins Big Horn the ABS warning lights start flashing and warning alarm will start beeping. This is intermittent, but lately much more constant. The big safety issue is when I'm trailering and the ABS system flashes I lose my trailer braking ability. Also, if I'm on cruise control and the warning light comes on, it drops out of cruise control.

My truck has 85000 miles on it. I have now experienced the ABS and traction control warning lights. They come on and off intermittently. The cruise control does not work when these lights are on. With all the complaints, its time Ram issues a fix under a recall.

Abs and traction control light goes on and off constantly. When the lights come on, traction control doesn't work, brakes don't worry as they should, and 4x4 doesn't work. Almost caused me to have a wreck in the rain with no traction control.

Hello, I have an Anti Lock Brakes electrical motor failure on my vehicle. The motor failed once at 20000 miles and failed again after a warranty replacement at 60000 miles. The part is on national back order for 2 years now and keeps the ABS from being fully engaged. It also disables cruise control and constantly dings. Two Dodge dealerships have confirmed the issue. The code is C0020-01

Intermittent warning light and messages about the electronic braking system and the ABS. Without failure at this time

My vehicle has had the Service Electronic Braking System/Service Antilock Braking System warnings appearing for approximately 6 months, along with the ABS light and Traction Control light being illuminated. It was intermittent at first but has been on steady for the past month. The vehicle has not been to the manufacturer to get inspected yet due to the intermittent nature at first. With the lights being illuminated, I have had a time or two where when the brakes were applied in a quick manner, the abs was not engaged and the tire locked up when a deer ran across the road.

My brakes locked up due to the abs pump not working.

Often experience noticeable braking issues. illumination of the ABS or brake warning light on the dashboard, indicating a problem with the anti-lock braking system. difficulty maintaining proper braking pressure, especially in emergency braking situations or on slippery surfaces, where the ABS should engage. As a result, the vehicle's stopping distance increases, and I have noticed a lack of control during hard braking. In some cases, the brakes feel soft or spongy due to improper hydraulic pressure regulation. Additionally, intermittent or complete loss of ABS functionality has occurred, leading to less stable braking performance.

Have had my truck into the dealer several times to check a hard brake pedal. No error code. When stopping it feels like there is no power brake Assist. It's harder to stop than my old truck with no power brakes especially when pulling my travel trailer. Dealer rep has driven truck an even admitted it was hard to stop. ABS won't stay engaged causing traction control to not stay engaged and causes cruise control to not stay engaged. Skidding and loss of control are possible without ABS and traction control systems working. Loss of cruise control can cause rear impact from sudden slow down. Same problems are occurring in similar vehicles. Console chimes and ABS and traction control indicator lights come on. Message to service ABS system appears on console.
