The rear window frame cracked causing water to leak slowly in and damage the trucks radio frequency hub. This crack is a known issue in 2019-2021 Ram 1500. There is a bulletin out somewhere about it. And what I’ve read is on an extended warranty called Backlite , which should be called window seal. I have seen this get covered and fixed because it is a known defect that the user did not cause. They covered the hub, which is required to start the truck and keep it running. That would be bad if it failed while driving. This crack needs to be covered. It won’t let me upload a picture of the crack, but I have one and how much they want to charge me to fix it. I was going to attach those.

My RAM 1500 experienced some random electronic related issues (ie. warning lights showing when nothing was wrong and then going away). This was an annoyance, but would fix itself so I never reported it. Then I had similar issues and all of a sudden it kept dying on me and I had to jump the car. RAM came back telling me the back window had leaked and it destroyed the eTorque battery and RFhub. The estimate was absurd, so I started researching. Turns out that the back window leak is a we’ll know. common issue with RAM 1500s. So much so they extended the manufacture warranty on the back window and center mounted light. Unfortunately, my truck is not on that list. Beyond the cost of this repair, the safety issue occurs when RAM placed an eTorque LITHIUM BATTERY in the back seat directly under a window that has historically had issues with leaking. It is a common known fact that water and Lithium Batteries is not a good mix and could cause corrosion, short circuits, electrolyte leakage, and gas release. This can cause damage, overheating, fires, or explosions. This is the same seat that I have had my children in car seats. If the windows are known to have issues with leaking and RAM put a battery in a space that is directly under this window, would this not pose a significant risk?

I have a 2020 Ram1500 Laramie and the vehicle has developed a water leak. The leak is coming from rear window, window seal, or related components. The result is that the headliner has water stains on the rear passenger and driver side. Continued water leaks have the potential to cause interior mold or electrical problems.

Owner detected a foul odor inside vehicle. Upon investigation water was found in the rear floorboard and water stains across the headliner above the power rear sliding window. Further investigation online revealed that Fiat-Chrysler issued Technical Service Bulletin [XXX]\"Water Leaks At Sliding Backlite\" dated April 22, 2021 and [XXX] Rev B \"Water Leak Rear Of cab Rear Seat or Headliner\" dated June 2021. Owner called a local dealership and requested information regarding any recall related to RAM 1500 cab leaks, and was told that they were none. Dealership failed to advise owner that a know problem exists for these vehicles. \n\nOwner believes that a safety issue exists with water leaking into the 3rd brake light assembly resulting in failure of that safety component to operate correctly and cause a rearend collision. Further, owner believes that a safety issue exists with water leaking into the electrical system that operates the power sliding rear window resulting in a fire or electrical human contact electrical injury.\n\nThis issue has been confirmed by dealerships as they have attempted repairs for other owners. Additionally, Fiat-Chrysler's issuing Technical Service Bulletins for these problems indicates the manufacturer was aware of the issues.\n\nAt this time, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, dealership, police, or insurance representatives or others. While traveling down C470 Eastbound my truck experienced some type of mechanical failure. While on the corner above the bridge for Wadsworth Avenue I felt a sudden loss of control with the truck pulling to the right side of the highway. I immediately took action to pull the truck off the highway while also wrestling for control of the steering to keep the truck from running into the barrier and off the bridge. I was able to bring the truck to a stop just following the bridge (About 100ft). Upon inspection I found the right front tire had folded under itself. It seemed that the upper control arm on the vehicle snapped, pulling out the drive shaft in the process and damaging items like the steering linkage, brakes, tire, brakeline, etc. Dealership diagnosis was: Found right front upper ball joint separated causing excessive damage to the front end components. Only additional work that has been done to the truck was by MOPAR with their 2 inch lift kit, certified by Fiat Chrysler and Mopar for this specific truck. Kit number 77072424 SUSP KIT-LIFT. Dealership did inspection of vehicle 2 days prior to incident with no issues found. I was not able to attach pictures and PDFs to this form

While trying to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle electrical system turned off the vehicle and turned back on. When turning back on, it flashed through a series of error messages. One time was while in stop and go traffic and I was able to coast onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. A second incident was in the middle of a busy intersection. Having had this shut down before, I was able to quickly turn on my hazards and restart the truck to then clear the intersection safely. I have personally had Dodge look at the vehicle under my ownership (bought it used from a dealer). In speaking with the service advisor, he mentioned it had 13 error codes reported on the DTC from loss of communication with PCM. There were no warning signs prior to the two events I have experienced. I have scheduled to take it back to the dealership for examination. The first event I experienced was on 11/25/2023 with about 35,450 miles. The second event was on 12/15/23 with 36,100 miles. I am aware of the recall on this vehicle but the shortage of parts has not allowed Dodge to service it for the recall yet.

The exhaust flange bolts are prematurely rusting and breaking on the Exhaust system. This is a truck that has less than 30,000 miles and less than 4 years old. This is a common problem but seems to me RAM is using sub par materials in there bolts and they are failing at an earlier than expected time. These parts should be good for at least 80,000 100,000 Miles. These parts should be covered and a recall should be issued for these bolts as they are failing and braking prematurely. Creating a safety hazard as if the exhaust flange bolts break the pipe would hit the ground and create a safety and or accident hazard.

On Thursday 16NOV2024 I noticed the rear sliding window on my 20' Ram had shattered on the drivers side section. The sticker on the back was damaged and appeared burnt. The weather that morning had been 35 degrees and partly cloudy. When I remote started the vehicle at 0700HRS, the rear defrost came on automatically. I drove about 10-15 minutes to work and parked. I returned to my vehicle approximately 10 minutes later and noticed a burning odor but thought it was due to a woodstove used nearby. Later in the day coworkers noticed the sticker was burned. I thought it may be intentional or due to the rear defrost system since the part that is wired and transitions to the heating grid is right under the sticker. We reviewed security footage from when I parked to when it was discovered and noone went near the vehicle. I suspected the defroster had an issue. I stopped at the dealer, my warranty was expired and I have glass coverage but I wanted to make them aware of the issue. The dealer glass rep took photos and said she'd never seen anything like it but would talk to engineers about it. The following day I received a call saying that she showed engineers the damage and was told that the system doesn't have enough voltage or heat to cause that damage and they wouldn't help. I wasn't looking for money, I have full glass/no deductible. I had the glass replaced the following Monday and asked them to save the parts I suspected of failing. The bolts holding the muffler to the exhaust pipe sheered off. After speaking with multiple dealers it is a known problem using a smaller bolt in the new body model Ram 1500 DT. The smaller bolt can’t handle the heating/cooling and eventually snaps. But this generally occurs just outside of warranty time. With the undersized bolts used by the manufacturer this causes the exhaust pipe to hang freely and risks the potential to cause injury or death with parts falling. There are many cases like this at dealers across the country and more to come. This body model is just coming up on 3-4 years so more trucks are starting to come in with this issue.

The driver side sun visor hinge point is failing. Without warning either when I attempt to fold down the sun visor or sometimes just on it's own it has fallen down out of the roof from the hinge point on the left side that allows you to rotate it to the side window if necessary. If I didn't have my hand on it to immediately lift it back up and from blocking my vision of the road in front of me it could have caused a collision with another vehicle, pedestrian or other object. I can push it back up into the receiver hole in the roof but it remains loose with the potential to fall out again as it has on several occasions. It has not been inspected yet. The rear window, window seal, or related components have failed and allow water to intrude into the cabin of my vehicle near the back. This water gets the headliner wet and drips down the interior of the rear window, down the rear of the passenger compartment. This water intrusion occurs with very, very light moisture on the vehicle, such as early mornings with morning dew, light rain, or watching the vehicle. The near-daily (due to dew) intrusion of water into the cabin of my vehicle raises safety concerns of mold & mildew in the passenger compartment. My rear window backlite frame is visibly cracked on the interior, matching the symptom pictured in TSB [XXX]. My vehicle has a manufacturer date within the dates noted in the TSB. My vehicle also includes a power sliding window as noted in the TSB. I've been to two dealerships and they both told me they see this problem in RAM trucks "all the time". Both dealers refused to perform a warranty repair under the extended warranty noted in the TSB (150,000 miles) because my VIN is not associated with the TSB in FCA's system even though my vehicle appears to be described as a vehicle affected. I've attached 2 photos to my report. One photo showing the crack as noted in TSB [XXX]. One photo showing the actual crack in my backlite frame. This appears to be a very prevalent issue with a lot of online discussion from many other affected RAM owners. The drivers side sun visor can fall out of the mechanism that holds it to the interior of the roof without warning. This happened on my ex girlfriends 2019 ram 1500 and just happened to my 2020 ram 1500. The dealer repaired hers for free even though it was out of warranted because it was a “known issue” according to the service department. Today mine fell out, hitting me in the head as I was driving and temporarily obscured my view of the roadway. The same happened to my girlfriend. On Monday, October 10, 2023, I started my truck in the morning when the temperature was 60-65 degrees. The truck turned the rear defroster on and after 10 minutes I put my two boys in the backseat and smelt a burning smell. There was nothing smoking, so I told myself I would look at it once I got back from dropping them off. I pulled out of my driveway and within a minute my back window shattered above my 3 month old. I took it to the Dodge/Ram dealership and they said based on their inspection the third brake light was leaking and water got into/on the window and when the rear defroster turned on it shattered the window. They said it is not covered under warranty even though the main cause was a manufacture defect with the the third brake light leaking water into the vehicle. So this repair is going to cost me $1,500 because of the leak. This is a major safety violation with windows breaking above kids or people in the back seat and electrical getting wet because of the leak in the third break light.

My truck has had two leaks in the rear window area. I have owned it for 3 years it has 30000 miles on it. The vehicle is in otherwise perfect condition with no damage and no accidents. The first time it required the rear window to be replaced. This time it is uncertain where the leak is coming from. This could cause damage to the electronics as well as the rear airbags. After I got the vehicle, during the first winter in January of 2021, I was filling up the vehicle at a gas station in Kansas. The fuel pump clicked off long before the tank was full and continued to click off every 3 seconds or so when attempting to continue. I stopped filling the tank at about half full after about 20 minutes in the freezing outside temperatures thinking it might have been something wrong with the pump. The gas gauge only read 1/2 full. I went to the next exit and tried again. Same situation. It took forever and finally after repeating this for about another 20 minutes, it finally did go to full but then leaked gasoline everywhere like it didn't stop because it was clogged or something. Seems to do it frequently when temps are below freezing. What ever repairs were supposedly made, did not work. I am very concerned this is a fire hazard potential if not corrected. I took it to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and they claimed they replaced the fuel nozzle. But it continues to do this every time it gets below freezing. I am wondering if moisture / vapor is becoming frozen in the line, or that the fuel nozzle system is of poor design where the tank cannot keep up with the venting. Perhaps it was the manufacturer trying to comply with environmental regulations, but failed. In any case I worry about the fuel leaking out and catching on fire from driving or static. It is a serious problem!

The rear window leaks from the top whenever it rains or I wash the truck. The excessive leaking is causing water stains on the seats and the headliner and may cause mold and mildew creating a health issue. The dealer told me this is out of warranty and wants me to pay $174 to diagnose it. RAM Customer Service was also unwilling to do anything to take care of the problem. I don't need to diagnose it, I already know it leaks. Furthermore, they already know because two service memos have been sent to the dealers back in 2021. There was also a class action lawsuit filed for the issue in 2022. The memos acknowledge that RAM is very well aware of the defect, but because they refuse to issue a recall they don't deem it bad enough to take care of it. They also want me to pay for the full repair, why would I pay for the full repair of a known defect, inside or outside of the warranty? Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I am going to have to switch my brand loyalty after buying 3 $60,000 Mopar Vehicles from the same dealership. Seems to me, just taking care of the problem would be well worth that kind of customer loyalty. We'll see what the dealership decides.
